Our devotion to pioneering solutions and delivering top-tier quality is the bedrock of our enduring success, ensuring the ultimate fishing adventure.
We have taken the best qualities of a bay boat, the best qualities of a catamaran and combined the two for a unique hybrid.
All Sea Cat boats are constructed with the use of AFTEC™ engineering and design with airflow technology, a purposeful design that utilizes the interplay of air and water to produce a ride quality that is unparalleled in seaworthiness and comfort. As air flows between the two sponsons of the moving boat, it is directed under the boat and enters the water at strategic locations that optimize lift and cushions the boat. The result is a phenomenally stable ride that remains smooth & dry despite unfavorable conditions. The only way to appreciate the difference provided by the AFTEC™ design is to ride in a new Sea Cat Boat.

Sea Cat 260 Hybrid Bay Catamaran Boat Review
Sea Cat 260 Hybrid Bay Catamaran
The Sea Cat 260 Hybrid Bay offers top speeds of 65-MPH with the 600-HP power option seen here but twin 140’s still pushes her along nicely.
The nature of a Catamaran deck cap offers additional square footage to move around on deck forward.
The ability to add a trolling motor to this 26-footer aids your fishing capabilities greatly.
From rod lockers to insulated fish holds to dry storage, this deck style offers all of it.
Black powder coating and gelcoat on the hardtop underside aid in glare removal on bright sunny days.
This deflector style wind screen frames in a pair of MFD units nicely at the helm face.
The trim work and upholstery on this tandem seat helm station is plush and extremely comfortable.
At the rear of the helm station is a super clean rigging station with tackle storage and a slide track cooler system.
The 260 Hybrid Bay provides plenty of comfortable seating as well during a break from the fishing.
More below deck space flanks each side of the console for fish or gear storage.
You will not find a cleaner more carefully laid out wiring scheme than this and a comprehensive diagram and index identifies each wire separately.
Flip the seat down and a casting deck opens up with matching 25-gallon pressurized live wells on either end.
Bilge systems access is available to port and starboard in the cockpit.
A comfortable riding spot appears by deploying this wide and deep convertible bench at the rear casting deck.

Sea Cat 260 Hybrid: 2022 Boat Buyers Guide
- December 17, 2021
Sea Cat Boats says that within an ever-changing industry, it has proudly maintained its attention to detail, the quality of its products, and its care for those who use its boats—all while taking advantage of the modern advancements.
Gulfport, Mississippi-based Sea Cat says it stays ahead of the curve in the competitive field by continuously investing in research and technology, while benefiting from its build team’s more than 100 years’ worth of experience in crafting high-performance offshore racing boats. An industry-leading naval-engineering firm formulated the company’s lamination schedule.
Sea Cat 260 Hybrid
The Sea Cat 260 Hybrid boasts the best attributes of the bay boat and catamaran, ready to fish inshore shallows one day and offshore blue water the next.
Good things come in twos here: hulls, motors, fuel tanks, even 25-gallon clear-topped livewells within the fiberglass-enclosed racing transom.
Or maybe threes, with triple large lockers that form a massive bow casting platform, a step up to it housing an insulated and drain-equipped box perfect for gear or refreshments. Two raised boxes along the bow section double as rod lockers.
Flanking the console are two in-deck boxes, each 7 feet long and served by a Gulper Grouper pump. One can be equipped with a rod rack; the other can be divided into two smaller ice-saving fish boxes if that fits your day’s adventure.
Two separate cranking batteries with a shared house battery can be switched to allow current from any or all to be combined or sent where needed.
Angler-pleasing options include a fiberglass T-top, T-top rocket launchers, other additional rod holders (beyond the standard six in the gunwale), custom helm seating with tackle station, a Minn Kota trolling motor, an additional livewell forward, rod-locker seating with removable backrests, and forward seat cushions and bolsters.
Manufacturer’s Remark
Sea Cat boats are built for inshore and offshore. They’re designed to last and are warranted for life.
Performance Data
- Test Power: Twin Suzuki DF-300AP

- Test Load: 4,900 lb., plus 80 gal. fuel, two people, safety gear
- Test Speed: 67.3 mph @ 6,100 rpm
- Max Range: 259 mi. @ 32.3 mph, 3,500 rpm
Editor Says
The seaworthiness of the Sea Cat’s multihull design—with its enclosed racing transom—takes the worry out of offshore jaunts, while its 14-inch draft opens the door to backcountry forays. The boat’s stability makes it a terrific platform for fishing at any depth, not to mention cruising or enjoying a picnic at your favorite sandbar. – Alex Suescun, Executive Editor, Salt Water Sportsman

Sea Cat 260 First Glance
- By Chris Woodward
- Updated: March 2, 2020
Designed by longtime catamaran builder Forrest Munden, the Sea Cat 260 performs dual fishing duties inshore and offshore. The boat draws only 14 inches, but offers big-water capability, Sea Cat says.
The large forward casting platform (trolling motor optional) features room for three anglers to fish. Heading aft, you’ll find two 7-foot fish/rod boxes recessed in the deck that are plumbed with overboard pumps and drains. The raw-water washdown system comes with 20 feet of coiled hose and a nozzle.
At the transom, the 260 comes with two lighted 25-gallon livewells and a fold-down bench for two. Two large bilge-access areas make it easy to service belowdecks pumps.
The console can accommodate two 12-inch electronics displays. All upholstery is custom-fabricated by Llebroc Industries.
Options include a custom fiberglass top, SeaStar EPS steering, forward livewell, a 10-gallon freshwater tank, and additional rod holders. The 260 carries 120 gallons of fuel and can handle twin outboards from 140 hp to 300 hp, for a maximum of 600 hp.

OUR HISTORY
In conjunction with Sea Speed Designs, experience has been gained over 35 years in the boat building industry, specializing in everything from Mega Yachts to Ferries. SeaCat Ships offer custom designed and built Aluminium Catamarans made specifically to suit the needs of the keen owner/operator.
These high speed, long-range aluminium cats not only look great, but also perform to a very high standard. Our Cats are assembled in Thailand by our Australian/Thai team, with a lot of the components coming from Australia and many of the sub-contractors also being of Australian decent. For Example: “Aqua Quest” is a state-of-the-art dive boat built for daily rough water operations from Cairns, Australia out to the Great Barrier Reef. After the sea trials and commissioning in the Gulf of Thailand, she sailed on her own hull to Cairns via Bali.
We have access to over 100 proven hulls from 6 to 42 Metres, all built to the highest international standards. The aluminium hull and deckhouse design is very strong and is in compliance with the requirements of Lloyds Register SSC rules for a passenger vessel operating offshore. The majority of the aluminium structure was supplied in KIT format to allow the parts to be CNC router cut for ease in construction.
SeaCat Ships offers custom designed and built aluminium catamarans. Crafting high-performance aluminum boats in the heart of Asia. 35 years in the boat-building industry. Redefining speed, comfort and affordability at sea.
SeaCat Ships is fundamentally a family owned and run company, with management carried out by Paul, Vicki, and Mari-on Birgan.
Paul (Managing Director) who has just been awarded WBW’s “Designer of the Year Asia” Award for 2017, has 30 years experience in the design and construction of aluminium vessels. Paul handles all new enquires, as well as the ordering process from commencement to completion.
Vicki (General Manager) manages the Shipyard and oversees the day to day running of the office and it’s staff.
Mari-on (Marketing Manager) manages the marketing side of the business, including the SeaCat Newsletter, Website and Social Media Channels.
Construction in our Thailand Shipyard, happens under the watchful eye of Murray Birgan (Project Manager). Murray works with a team of expats to carry out supervision, training and quality control.
With decades of boat-building experience between them, the team ensures a high quality of new-builds. They are now passing on their expertise to their Thai employees, many of which already have extensive experience in aluminium fabrication and welding and are quick to pick-up the specialised skills required at SeaCat Ships.
SeaCat currently has 5 expatriates and 50 Thai employees, as well as a further 20-30 part time Thai sub-contractors. We are also supported by Australian suppliers and sub-contractors.

Two Charter Bases – One Fantastic Area
WCM has two charter bases strategically placed near the north and south end of what many consider to be the finest 150 mile stretch of cruising available in North America, if not the world. You can begin and end your charter at either location, taking time to explore the islands, nooks and crannies of this amazing area.
In general the FP Helia 44 is based out of the Loreto/Puerto Escondido location, while the FP Saba 50 most often calls La Paz home. The prices are the same regardless of location, with a small additional delivery fee if the cat must be moved between bases for you to begin your charter.

Loreto/Puerto Escondido
So where exactly are we going.
About two-thirds of the way down the Sea of Cortez, on Mexico’s famed Baja Peninsula, sit Loreto and Puerto Escondido. Backed by the stunning Sierra de la Giganta range to the west and a spread of islands and dazzling blue waters to the east, this area boasts spectacular sailing, beach exploration, historic communities, gorgeous remote anchorages, and world-class fishing. About 10 miles south of historic and charming Loreto, Mexico’s authentic “City of Magic,” lies Puerto Escondido (hidden port). This naturally enclosed basin has been used for centuries to shelter boats of all kinds, and, after many fits and starts since the 1980’s, now boasts a rapidly developing marina and residential project. It is an ideal base for exploring one of the richest, most starkly beautiful cruising areas on the planet, a place Jacques Cousteau once proclaimed “The Aquarium of The World.”
West Coast Multihulls’ location on the waterfront at Marina Puerto Escondido is home to a small fleet of modern cruising catamarans, along with a full-service marina, boat yard, store, restaurant, etc. This is a magnificent sailing area, boasting 10 islands and dozens of unique anchorages to explore, along with nearby Loreto, chock full of history, dining, and shopping opportunities. This is a part of Mexico that invites you to slow down and soak it all in. Everywhere are the dramatic geology, intense colors and stark contrasts of desert meeting the sea. Fish, rays and whales during the day, coyotes on the beach at night. Puerto Escondido might be only 10 miles from the Loreto airport, but it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle north of the border.
WCM clients are invited to enjoy the crystal clear, warm waters of the Sea of Cortez – numerous offshore islands to explore, dozens of secluded anchorages, refreshing margaritas, and spectacular fishing. Options include destination Learn-to-Sail vacations and captained charters . In all cases you’re looking at the sailing experience of a lifetime. Day after day of “best day ever” kind of sailing, which may ruin you forever. In a good way.
WCM Puerto Escondido Features:
- The FP Helia 44 is generally berthed at this location
- Captain/Crewed Charters
- Stellar learn-to-sail vacation options
- Easy provisioning
- Lay days in Loreto, Baja’s “City of Magic”
- Knowledgeable staff to ensure your comfort and eliminate logistical hassles
- A well-equipped and growing marina facility with fuel, groceries and restaurant
- World-class sailing, fishing, paddling, snorkeling, beach exploration and hiking

Options include destination Learn-to-Sail vacations and captained charters . In all cases you’re looking at the sailing experience of a lifetime. Day after day of “best day ever” kind of sailing, which may ruin you forever. In a good way.
WCM La Paz Features:
- The FP Saba 50 is usually located here, but can be available from the Loreto location as well
- Lay days in the hopping waterfront tourist zone of La Paz
- A well-equipped marina facility with fuel, nearby groceries and a few restaurants
Students and charterers will be able to book classes and vacation sailing time through WCM, traveling in and out of Loreto or La Paz via regular flights from across the US, Southern California, or Tijuana (most making use of the no-brainer CBX border crossing in San Diego). Regular flights into Loreto are available from LAX (typically on Alaska Airlines, connecting from anywhere), Ontario, Orange County, and other smaller regional airports. Some connections go through Mexico City or Phoenix. Note that flights in and out of Loreto are often limited to certain days of the week, which can vary seasonally. La Paz has more flight options at more times, and is services by many north american airlines.
The Sea of Cortez is subject to two different major weather regimes, which alternate seasonally. Winter months, typically December through February, bring “Northers,” which can sometimes blow quite strongly, for two to five days at a time. Otherwise, seas and winds are mellow and variable, with clear skies and moderate temperatures. Summer months, June through September, bring intense heat and moderate southerly breezes to the area, easing into the heart of tropical storm season mid August through mid October. The shoulder seasons of mid October through early December, and March through June, exhibit nearly perfect sailing conditions, and spectacular weather for making the most of this amazing area.
We offer a wide selection of cruising catamarans for Capatained Sea of Cortez Catamaran Charters – all especially equipped for your safety and comfort.

This trip exceed our expectations with respect to beautiful water, mountains & remote anchorages. In my opinion, it was far superior to the Bahamas. Sailing was sporadic due to changing winds daily but that’s nature. We more than made up for it with fishing, spearfishing & beautiful sunsets. We ate really well. –Bruced581 via TripAdvisor
What a terrific experience! Guinevere and Eddie made our charter easy and the yacht was in great shape. This area of Baja is outstanding with the beautiful islands and great snorkeling. We saw whales, rays and lots of dolphins while we were on the water. And there and many wonderful little bays to anchor in for all wind conditions. This was our second trip and we’ll be back again! –Chris G via TripAdvisor
I want to let you know that Lance was very thorough and I feel I learned a lot. I have had several instructors over the past two years and he was the best by far. –Lee Johnston

And the best part is, sailors can enjoy all this right here in their back yard in SoCal, instead of traveling to the East Coast/Caribbean.
Both West Coast Multihulls Charters and the West Coast Sailing School are dedicated exclusively to catamarans and trimarans, and offer sailors of all levels the opportunity to explore San Diego and other Southern California destinations, and further develop their sailing skills. “With the continuing rise of multihulls in the marketplace and the broad appeal of these designs, we jumped at the obvious opportunity,” explains WCM President Kurt Jerman. “Sailors are drawn to the ease, comfort and speed of catamarans and trimarans, and are looking for a place here in California they can get get their feet wet.”
Or rather, not. Part of the appeal of catamarans and trimarans is level, relatively dry sailing, despite the increased speed the boats are capable of. WCM is the authorized dealer for a broad range of cats and tris covering the full spectrum from beachable sport boats to trailer sailers to blue water cruisers. The San Diego fleet is comprised of a mix of these boats from some or all of WCM’s lines: Seawind, Fountaine Pajot, Gemini (Performance Cruising), and Corsair. “Sailors can learn aboard the very same vessels they will be chartering down the road, so there’s great synergy between the operations,” explains Jerman. “Our ASA-certified instructors and charter captains are all long-time multihull sailors, and know these boats inside and out. Guests and pupils have a great time, whether they’re here to learn or just relax.”
West Coast Sailing School offers a variety of American Sailing Association (ASA) classes , covering the entire range from ASA-101(Basic Keelboat) through ASA-114 (Cruising Catamaran).
West Coast Multihulls Charters offers San Diego bareboat charters , skippered charters , day sails and tours , and even the option to use any of their catamarans as a boat bed & breakfast . Rates vary and flexibility is key. “We realize that our guests, whether local San Diego sailors or flying in from across the country, might only have a weekend to explore San Diego Bay, or maybe a full week to go out to Catalina with the family,” adds Jerman. “We want to make sure we accommodate all these different needs, and plan to have a boat and itinerary to suit them all.”
