Meet the Riviera 46 Sports Motor Yacht

At just over 52 feet length overall, the Riviera 46 Sports Motor Yacht is the Australian builder’s new entry-level model in the series, and it’s set up to host good-size parties and to cruise with friends and family.

For starters, consider the after section of this yacht’s main deck. Between the cockpit and the shaded alfresco deck, there is 115 square feet of socializing real estate. The swim platform has two transom doors leading to the cockpit with a barbecue, a fridge/freezer, a wet bar and an ice maker. Forward, there is a settee on either side, with a folding teak table to port and the option to place a TV in the forward portside corner.

The 46’s interior space is set up to serve guests easily too. The galley is aft and to starboard, accessed through a sliding-glass door from the alfresco deck. The galley has a two-burner cooktop, a microwave and a fridge/freezer, along with a C-shaped countertop with plenty of space for meal prep. Plates and beverages can be sent to guests relaxing on the alfresco deck via a starboard-side window that lifts upward or can be brought up to guests on the flybridge by way of portside stairs.

Forward, there is a U-shaped settee to port with a dining table and an L-shaped settee to starboard. This is a good place for lunch with a protected view on days when the weather makes being outdoors uncomfortable.

Up top, the 46’s flybridge has virtually uninterrupted, 360-degree views and more gathering spaces. The forward section has a two-seat settee to port and a C-shaped settee with a dinette to starboard. A wet bar in the after portside corner helps serve guests without having to go downstairs.

Belowdecks, there are three staterooms and two heads. The forepeak master has an en suite head to starboard and a portside closet. Then, there are two twin-berth guest staterooms amidships and a day head to port that doubles as the portside accommodation’s en suite head. Riviera also gives owners the option to place a double berth in the portside stateroom.

Standard power is twin 600 hp Volvo Penta D8 IPS800s, with an option to upgrade to twin 725 hp Volvo Penta D11 IPS950s. With the latter power package, Riviera says the 46 Sports Motor Yacht can hit 34.5 knots at 2,560 rpm. At 24.5 knots and 2,100 rpm, range is reportedly 286 nautical miles.

10 best three cabin/stateroom sailboats for under $200,000.

There is a great discussion on a Cruisers Forum thread where the fellow is looking for a three stateroom sailboat for a reasonable price. I thought I would add to and distill the information there. The below list consists ten of the best live aboard, bluewater sailboats for a family with children that needs three staterooms. Such a family usually has a budget of between $100,000 to $200,000. They have some sailing experience including chartering, lake racing, and maybe owning a smaller sailboat in the 30 to 40 foot range. They need an extra stateroom or two so their children can have their own space while cruising. This necessarily will push the yacht into the 45 to 55 foot length range.

This price and accommodations plan is somewhat of an elusive find. Especially, the three stateroom, center cockpit nearing $100,000 is a sailboat in high demand. I have tried to avoid pirate ships like a Force 50 which I do not consider attractive to the mainstream clientele. Most of the options below have standard fin keel and skeg rudder underbodies for normal performance. Please comment below with any suggested additions or subtractions. I have listed the sailboats in alphabetical order of brand name.

• Amel Super Maramu 53 : Nuanced design of French yard Amel. Has a third berth along the walkthrough, so really is more of a two stateroom design. Likely priced over $200,000.
• Beneteau Idylle 51 : One of the older, classic Beneteaus that had a heavier build. Is an aft cockpit design which does not separate the living quarters as well as in a center cockpit.
• Gulfstar 50 : Vince Lazzara design. There are both Mark I versions with two staterooms and Mark II versions with three. These are getting a bit old. Forerunner of the 47′ Stevens design.
• Hylas 47 : Sparkman & Stephens design skill and Queen Long quality. Early ones were called Stevens 47’s. Hylas later extended the design to become a 49-footer.
• Irwin 52 : Roomy Ted Irwin design with raised quarterdeck and classic styling.
• Morgan 51 Out Island : The Morgan 51 OI is a lot of boat for the usual price of near $100,000. Ketch rig.
• Passport 51 : This older Stan Huntington design is heavily built with a third bunk berth stateroom.
• Taswell 49 : Ta Shing build and Bill Dixon design. Comes in a deck saloon version. Is on the higher end of the price range.
• Tayana 47 : Robert Perry design which comes in two and three stateroom versions. Was extended to become the Tayana 48.
• Vagabond 47 : This is an older, classic build and design. Maintaining the teak on deck is a long-term effort. If you like the Vagabond 47, you could look at other character boats like the CT 54, Force 50, and Mikelson 51.

Accommodation

Board at the swim platform which is integral to the hull and correspondingly sturdy. A starboard transom door provides access to the cockpit, which is quite sizeable and trimmed with beautifully-varnished teak caprails (the only exterior teak). Custom canvas covers protect the varnish. Wide port and starboard side decks are accessed with convenient molded steps.

The well-lit salon is entered through a sliding glass doors, and is warmly constructed with light teak joinery. A large L-shaped settee upholstered in leather is to starboard, and two comfortable leather chairs with an ottoman to port. A built-in cabinet provides storage and supports the flat screen TV.

The U-shaped galley is convenient to the salon and the pilothouse, and has plenty of countertop space. Appliances include full size Kitchen Aid refrigerator/freezer, convection / microwave and electric cooktop.

Entertainment equipment cabinet holds surround sound stereo system and Intellian satellite dish and Direct TV controls.

The companionway forward leads to the VIP stateroom to port, a guest stateroom with upper and lower single bunks and a Splendide combo washer/dryer, and to the master stateroom foremost with ensuite head and shower. A second head and shower compartment is available to the guest staterooms. Heads are vacuflush.

From the forward starboard salon are stairs up to the pilothouse with an L-shaped settee and small table to port, and a commanding centerline helm. A pilot station door to starboard opens to the side deck. Steps up to the flybridge through a large companionway door are safe and convenient.

The flybridge has a centerline helm, a wet bar with refrigerator, and bench seating. It is covered with a new bimini top and enclosed with isinglass.

Webasto forced-air diesel-fired furnace with tankless water heater. Marine Air System reverse-cycle heat/air system (1). 11 gallon Seaward electric hot water tank.

This Symbol 55 Pilothouse is an attractive design for good reasons -- three staterooms, wide walkaround side decks, a roomy and comfortable salon, all the handling benefits of a pilothouse, and a commanding and spacious flybridge.

Very low hours and well-equipped with stabilizers, generator, air conditioning, diesel furnace, satellite TV, and newer Garmin radar and MFDs. She has been well-cared-for and is in very nice condition.

This is an attractive and substantial boat that continues to look very contemporary inside and out.

This 47 has a newer updated/upgraded interior with off white leatherette wall panels, sofa and carpeting and features a built in cooled wine bar, modern sound system, remote controlled lighting.

OSPREY is a fine example of a very hard-to-come-by 2016 Hunt Harrier 26 powered with the optional Yamaha 300hp outboard motor with only 215 hours. Lift-kept with custom sun covers, she shows beautifully with her Stars & Stripes blue hull, Oyster White boot stripe and black bottom. In 2018 the Yamaha outboard motor was painted to match the gelcoat and a faux teak transom was applied, nice custom touches done by the Hinckley Company. Properly maintained and serviced (full outboard motor service, with computer check and compression test, March 2022) make OSPREY a true ‘turn key’ offering. Drone flying toward Moscow downed in Elektrostal

MOSCOW, November 19. A drone flying to Moscow has been downed by air defense systems in Elektrostal in the Moscow Region, no one was hurt, Moscow’s Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Sunday.

"In the Elektrostal municipal district, air defense forces repelled an attack by a drone, which was flying toward Moscow. According to preliminary data, its fragments fell down incurring no damage. No one was hurt," he wrote on his Telegram channel .

According to the Moscow mayor, emergencies services are working on the site.

Spectacular multi-million dollar yachts — check! Balmy, waterfront location — check! Family-friendly exhibitions and fun — check!

Then it must be the 42nd annual Palm Beach International Boat Show, which cruised into West Palm Beach this week. The city’s waterfront Downtown was transformed into a yachters’ haven, filled with ultra-luxurious yachts and cruisers and a seemingly endless range of yachting-inspired activities.

This year some 800 boats and yachts participated in the show, which is expected to lure over 55,000 total visitors along with 600 brands. In total, the four-day show is anticipated to pump over $1 billion into the economy of the Palm Beach area, which has seen both its population and popularity surge since the pandemic.

“Beyond its economic significance and standing in the industry, the Palm Beach International Boat Show holds a special place in the hearts of local residents, revered as one of the region’s must-attend events,” said Alyssa Freeman, executive director of the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County (MIAPBC).

The show supports a series of satellite events such as the Winward VIP Club, with an open bar, gourmet dining and special pop-up activations. The Super Yacht Show Palm Beach at Palm Harbor was where the show’s most glamorous — and truly gargantuan — superyachts are on display. At the AquaZone, which is presented by Nautical Ventures, guests can enjoy a “show within a show” via an interactive experience featuring a wide range of water sports and cutting-edge, marine-related products.

As always, the Show delivers an exceptional array of culinary experiences, including world-class cocktails provided by sponsors such as Goslings Rum. The Show also includes a series of education seminars that appeal to visitors of all ages, including the Hook the Future’s Kids Fishing Clinics with Captain Don Dingman, who demonstrates various fishing techniques while showcasing a wide variety of fish species. Participants get a free Hook the Future x Carolina Skiff rod and reel combo.

But it’s really all about the boats. Here are five of the most unique, intriguing and eye-popping vessels on display.

The lucky charm

Few yachts at this year’s show are as jaw-dropping as Talisman C. Designed by London-based interiors aces H2 and manufactured by Turkish master yacht-builders Proteksan Turquoise, it’s currently listed for sale by British yachting firm Burgess for a cool $59.7 55 million. Spanning just over 231 feet long, it features six full-sized cabins that can sleep up to 14 guests, including a sprawling owner’s suite with its king-size bed and crystal chandelier, massive walk-in closet and grand library (which can easily be converted into an additional cabin).

Upstairs, the yacht’s sundeck features a large glass-encased Jacuzzi, sun beds and dining area under the sun or stars. A chic swim platform allows for easy access to the azure seas while the nearby aft deck area includes a fully equipped bar with club seating as well as a full-size dining area capped by a glass-threaded chandelier.

The vessel is powered by a pair of 2,447hp Caterpillar diesel engines, which provide a top speed of 18 knots, a cruising speed of 15 knots and a transatlantic range of 7,000 nautical miles.

The emperor

Reaching just under 300 feet in length, the Nero is, without doubt, one of the most eye-catching vessels at the entire Palm Beach show. Although completely contemporarily designed and manufactured, the Nero embodies the look and aesthetic of classic boats from yachting’s golden age during the 1930s. Fully overhauled in 2021, the Nero — which is currently on the market for just under $500,000 per week via Burgess — was designed in the spirit of Corsair, a yacht launched in the 1930s that belonged to legendary Wall Street financier J.P. Morgan.

Inside, it could not be more luxurious. On the top deck is a world-class gym fitted out with equipment by Technogym, while a few steps beyond is a beauty salon, which comes with an in-house beautician and masseuse.

There are six cabins with room for 12 guests — along with an on-board Jacuzzi, pool and waterslide. Throughout, veteran yacht designer Laura Pomponi has updated and upgraded the Nero’s look, introducing a range of new handmade carpets, along with hardwood floors, new sofas and elegant art-works. Pomponi has also lent her hand to Nero’s distinctive 30-foot Corsair custom-built tender that has been refitted so guests can arrive in impeccable style.

The secret agent

As its name suggests, the 236-foot Casino Royale brings a large dose of Bond-like elegance and intrigue to West Palm Beach. Constructed by Italian master shipbuilder Tankoa in 2018 and given a top-to-bottom retrofit in 2022, Casino Royale includes six cabins for 12 passengers and has been awarded a slew of industry accolades for its innovative and forward-thinking technology and aesthetic. Nearly two dozen crewmembers tend to those lucky voyagers, which luxuriate in an on-board circular swimming pool and access the ship via a helicopter port.

The yacht’s primary suite is nothing if not grand, featuring 180-degree views from its king-size bed along with its own study and al fresco terrace with private sunbed and Jacuzzi. There are five additional guest suites — all with their own private baths. Just beyond is an open-air living layout complete with a range of bespoke contemporary furnishings across the boat’s nearly half-dozen passenger decks.

Outside the amenities are just as abundant and include an onboard beach club with a lounge, bar, sauna, terrace and hammam/shower. All are ideal locations to rest and recharge after a workout in the yacht’s wellness center. On the main deck, there’s a nearly 20-foot-long infinity pool, while that helipad can easily convert into a dance floor.

Completely futuristic and totally cool, the 180-foot-long Come Together is the ultimate example of stealth wealth on the high seas. Completed just two years ago by the Dutch firm Amels and currently on the market for a cool $65 million, Come Together features an unmistakable architecturally styled exterior reminiscent of a city-center skyscraper.

The boat can house up to 14 guests and 13 crew members within its unmissable steel hull and an aluminum-clad super structure — all cruising at a top speed of 15.5 knots.

The boat’s expansive master suite is set within its main deck and features sprawling storage space, a dressing room as well as his and hers bathrooms. There are an additional VIP cabin, two double cabins and two further cabins that can operate as twins or doubles. Up top, there’s a fully equipped gym and Jacuzzi — while a set of Jet Skis, water skis and hover-like Seabob watercraft keep the fun going just off deck. Come Together’s unique underwater lighting system also delivers a strong dose of excitement come nighttime and is the perfect way to enjoy an after-hours swim.

Want more? Then don’t forget about the on-board wakeboards, paddleboards and snorkeling equipment. And, when the moment strikes to head from the boat to land, travel could not be easier thanks to an easy-access 30-foot Limo Tender.

The cordial cruiser

The aptly named Hospitality ticks off the right boxes when it comes to superyacht bells and whistles. This twin-engine beauty can house up to 16 passengers along with 11 crew at a maximum cruising speed of 24 knots. Built back in 2011 by Westport Yachts here in the US, Hospitality — which is currently on the market for just under $30 million — underwent a comprehensive retrofit in 2021.

Along with all of the requisite yachting toys — Jet Skis, Seabobs and paddleboards — Hospitality includes a grand private owner’s suite with its own private relaxation balcony, seven cabins along with a relaxation room that can be used as a gym or spa and meticulously designed public spaces across is handful of decks. There’s also a handy tender for quick — or, not so quick — jaunts to the shore for dining and shopping.

Jet Aviation Moscow Vnukovo gets EASA approval for Falcon 900EX EASy

Jet Aviation Moscow Vnukovo has received EASA Part-145 approval for Dassault Falcon 900EX EASy aircraft, authorizing it to provide line maintenance to the aircraft.

“Our ability to support long-range aircraft in this region is vital to our customers,” said Vitaly Aleksikov, general director at Jet Aviation Moscow Vnukovo.

Singapore is adding luxury upgrades to its premium economy cabin as it strives to maintain its world-best title

• Singapore Airlines is offering a luxurious new in-flight experience for its premium economy class.
• Passengers can choose from 200 new menu items served on glazed porcelain plates.
• It's the first revamp since the premium economy cabin was introduced in 2015. 

Airplane food has a whole new connotation for passengers flying premium on Singapore Airlines.

If you book a seat in its premium economy class, you can cheers with a glass of Charles de Cazanove Brut Tradition NV Champagne after take-off — and finish off a three-course meal with a chocolate Feuilletine cake.

Singapore Airlines announced its new premium economy class in-flight experience last week. The update goes into effect on March 31 and includes an enhanced selection of food and beverage options.

The menu has over 200 items and each meal will consist of a seasonal appetizer, main course, bread, dessert, and cheese and crackers.

"Since its introduction in 2015, Premium Economy Class has become popular with our customers," said Yeoh Phee Teik, Singapore Airlines' senior vice president of customer experience. "They appreciate the added amenities, heightened comfort, and the extra personal space it offers, all at an excellent value."

The revamp is based on customer feedback and market research to deliver a more personalized and world-class in-flight experience , Teik said in the statement.

Singapore Airlines is considered one of the best carriers in the world.

It's been ranked as much by the Airline Passenger Experience Association and airline ranking website Skytrax.

The carrier is also famous for operating the world's longest flight , which treks some 9,500 miles between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Singapore.

Its premium economy class is available on 74 aircraft, which is about half of the airline's passenger fleet.

Premium economy seats are installed on Airbus A350s, Airbus A380s, and Boeing 777-300ERs, according to Singapore.

The cabin is available on routes to 17 countries from Singapore, including major cities in the United States.

You can browse through a hard menu and choose international or Asian cuisine as a premium main course option on every flight.

Premium meals come with a seasonal appetizer, main course, bread, dessert, and cheese and crackers.

You can choose from an international or Asian main course on every flight. Some of the highlights include Bak Chor Mee, which is minced pork noodles or Thai-style Crab Curry, served with rice and seasonal vegetables with an egg.

The airline also added new appetizers, like garlic roasted prawns with smoked aioli and Spanish fried potatoes. Passengers can also request upgraded bread options like croissants for breakfast and garlic bread rolls with other meals.

Or, you can pre-order your favorite dish from a separate "Book the Cook" menu.

You can also pre-select a meal from the "Book the Cook " menu, also available in first-class and business-class. This menu offers up to 20 dishes available on rotation, and you can pre-order your requested meal 24 hours before departure.

The menu includes popular regional dishes like Singapore-style seafood Hor Fun and Chicken Biryani, as well as Sake Teriyaki, which is salmon in Teriyaki sauce. It also features plant-based dishes, such as Mushroom Eggplant Meatballs.

All meals are served on a linen-lined tray with glazed porcelain plates and tucked silverware.

Unwind with a glass of wine or Champagne selected by Singapore Airlines' panel of wine experts.

Singapore Airlines sources its wine from vineyards in the world's most famous regions. Premium passengers can choose from the airline's wine consultants through a blind tasting process.

The options include Charles de Cazanove Brut Tradition NV Champagne, a 2023 Wairau River Sauvignon Blanc, and the 2 022 St. Hallett Faith Shiraz. You can also choose from an extensive list of spirits, cocktails, and beers.

Or, you can indulge in non-alcoholic beverage options, like Cadbury hot chocolate, peppermint tea, or a range of fruit juices and soft drinks.

Between meals, passengers can also request a wide assortment of snacks, like nuts, potato chips, assorted buns, sandwiches, muffins, and flavored popcorn.

Cozy up with slippers and eye shades on flights seven hours or longer.

Singapore will hand out amenity kits to premium passengers on flights seven hours or longer. The amenity kits are made by the environmentally friendly US-based manufacturer, Out of the Woods. The pouch includes eyeshades, slippers, and lip balm.

Singapore also offers dental kits and moisturizers for passengers in the bathrooms.

The enhancements come as Singapore strives to maintain its world's best airline status, which is thanks to more than just the premium economy experience.

Its luxurious first-class seating offers spacious suites complete with a separate bed, and a restaurant dining experience for as much as $23,000 round trip. The A380 is not currently deployed on US routes.

Business class offers similar luxuries with a large lie-flat bed and gourmet food.

But even the economy class offers all kinds of perks, including a long list of cocktails, hot drinks, snacks, and second meals.

Economy class passengers can also access complimentary notepads, razors, and birthday cakes for special occasions.
