GTA 6 reveal trailer scene-by-scene breakdown: dogs, dadbods and social agitation

Rockstar's big reveal shows a pricklier and more anxious world.

Earlier today a now-deleted X account leaked the official GTA 6 reveal trailer, nearly a full day ahead of its scheduled premiere. I watched it about four times in its leaked format: very low-res and with "BUY $BTC" superimposed over the middle. I thought it looked pretty good even then, though I was as yet unprepared for how much arse it would feature.

When Rockstar quickly issued the official trailer, I watched it a further ten times or so to make the following observations. This one minute and thirty-one second artefact will be viewed billions of times in the coming days and weeks. Very many articles and videos will be written and filmed about it. Bizarre, arcane truths will be syphoned from it. Outlandish confirmations will be gleaned. 

For now, here's just what I thought about it, and the things it seems pretty obvious it's trying to tell us.

[ 0:05 ] We meet protagonist Lucia

After some brief pink-drenched exterior shots of a prison we meet inmate Lucia. In her prison scrubs Lucia is questioned by a prison authority: "Do you know why you're here?". To which she replies, "Bad luck, I guess". That's our protagonist: fated to a life of crime, and brutally honest about it.

An interesting tonal shift for a GTA reveal trailer. GTA 5 opened with a pleasant collage of all the fun stuff Los Santos has at its disposal. GTA 4's opened with ominous footage of Liberty City's then remarkably lifelike urban cityscape. GTA 6's reveal trailer tells a different story. There's no use emphasising how advanced your engine tech or graphics are in 2023: this is a modern blockbuster videogame. It's basically a movie trailer.

[ 0:12 ] Vice City, goofiness, buildings we may or may not be able to enter

The camera pans over a busy urban beach. This is clearly Vice City (which is situated in the state of Leonida, according to Rockstar's official PR). A distant airborne marquee ad asks "why sixty-nine when you can Nine 1 Nine?" Presumably this is an ad for a company called Nine1Nine—maybe responsible for the production of masturbation aides? Whatever the case: non-subtle allusions to sexual acts confirmed. This is GTA, with all the goofiness that entails.

I have to confess, watching this five second interstitial shot of the cityscape, my main concern was whether all those apartment blocks look like buildings I will be able to enter and explore in the final game. Impossible to tell.

[ 0:19 ] There are airboats

After the tantalising pan of Vice City's skyline we get, by contrast, some yellow-hued footage of an airboat coursing along a clearing in some marshy wetlands. Airboats confirmed! Just in case you're wondering what they are, they're "flat-bottomed watercraft propelled by an air-craft type propeller" which are "commonly used for fishing, bowfishing, hunting and ecotourism" (thanks Wikipedia ). Fishing probably confirmed? I don't know. Airboats confirmed, though. Birds confirmed too, obviously.

[ 0:22 ] Chill beach scene shows brand new dog breed and an amphibious helicopter

The next handful of seconds gives way to some shots of Vice City dwellers at play. The busy beach scene has speedboats, a utility truck with a trailer attached (trailers confirmed!) a helicopter and, to the right of the helicopter, a Helicopter That Can Land On Water, officially known as an amphibious helicopter. This scene also confirms… new breeds of dog! That tiny mousy looking thing is not among the seven breeds of dogs that appear in GTA 5.

[ 0:23 ] Some mild criminal infractions, some mood-setting streetscapes

Slightly less chill is the speedboat race depicted directly after this beach scene, where laws are almost certainly being broken. One should surely not speed in packs so close to container ships. Slightly less illegal, but still probably illegal, is the woman standing in a speeding convertible in the next scene. The road signs above point towards Kelly County - VCI Airport (airport confirmed) and via Catalan Boulevard, Stockyard and Downtown. Aside from the airport (there's an airport in GTA: Vice City) none of these destinations seem to directly reference anywhere specific from older depictions of VC.

The mood montage continues with a bonnet view drive down a busy suburban street, an interior shot of a crowded and salacious bar, a guy with dreads and ostentatious necklaces greeting his bro, and then, a gorgeous birds eye view of a fancy satellite neighbourhood (visible here: tennis courts, a luxury yacht). 

It's the next scene that excites me: downtown Vice City, bespeckled in neon, lined with stunt-ready sports cars to rob at the press of a button—all very exciting. But it's the sheer density of the street life here that I love: check out the open air dining happening to the far left of the shot. 

[ 0:34 ] There's a DJ

Then there's this DJ. DJs will be in GTA 6.

[ 0:36 ] The last moments of peace

Here's another one of those classic trailer shots that YouTubers (and let's be honest, PC gaming websites) dine out on. The trick racing potential along that right hand retaining wall is exceptionally high, I feel. But look at that smaller container boat to the slight left of the centre of the image. You'll presumably be able to commandeer those. Overall, shots like this give a nice sense of how the outskirts of Vice City, the greater parts of Leonida, will look.

Then we get a close look at a bikini-clad woman enjoying a rooftop party. Then a time lapse shot of a sign that says "VICE". 

[ 0:41 ] Chaos ascends; social media stuff

Oh man, this is where it starts to get hectic. Social media will feature heavily in GTA 6, because a lot of time is spent on it in this trailer. The first shot is of some bozo on a yacht with a straw hat, standing next to the American flag. A bunch of revellers cheer on. "Ay Papi! Save some sugar baby for the rest of us!" reads the accompanying text in the social media post, published by DadBodSquad. I'm guessing the old straw hat guy is the sugar daddy and they're his sugar babies (my analytical prowess: confirmed?).

After that the OfficialPoach account—we don't know what the social media platform is called yet—posts a video of a guy fishing a crocodile out of a backyard pool (crocodiles confirmed). The accompanying text: "Stay Alert VC! Remember to check for uninvited guests before the pool party". 

Next we get a vertical orientation shot of a woman twerking on the roof of a moving car. This is posted by the account have.a.vice.day, with the accompanying text: "Someone call the department of transport on this dumptruck #have.a.vice.day". The dumptruck mentioned is an allusion to the ass being twerked. That's GTA humour, for you.

Then we get footage of an impromptu street party, complete with dangerously drifting muscle cars and revellers dancing on rooftops. There's a live stream of this street party, with a comment feed that mirrors reality, in the sense that none of the comments are very useful or illustrative of anything.

[ 0:48 ] CCTV footage of a crocodile entering a restaurant

Probably my favourite moment in the trailer. A crocodile saunters into a cafe. The moment is captured by CCTV. This part is the most graphically impressive in my view: I thought it was FMV. Maybe it is? Look at the plastic on that toilet paper! 

[ 0:49 ] Some SWAT guys breaching a building

First person footage of some cops busting down a door. Looks really good. Not sure if this confirms first-person view at launch, because it's bodycam footage. Like the CCTV above, it looks lifelike because of the video filter. Kinda hard to take a screenshot of this moment because it's too blurry.

[ 0:50 ] More social media and flesh fixations

PlanetLeonidaMan posts "usually gotta hit the strip club to see jiggle like that fr", alluding to the accompanying video showing a near-naked person with a big bum being chased by a police. There's a petrol station in the background and some damn nice puddles. Puddle watchers will be on the alert.

GeneralCustardCannon posts: "Only in Leonida is a crotch grab an apology for bad driving". Accompanying vid shows a burly tatted guy in a singlet performing aforementioned gesture. Definitely of a redneck persuasion. It's happening alongside a highway leading to Vice Beaches, Port VC/KEys, and the airport again. I love the backdrop of this moment: a bleak wasteland of spaghetti junctions and distributor roads. A roadside billboard we only see a bit of alludes to panty sniffing. GTA is back yeah.

Then YoMammazJammer posts "RIP Rudi - C U in heaven, cuz," accompanied by the seemingly irrelevant footage of a guy being dangerous in a moving car.

[ 0:54 ] More social media chaos, including weird g-string guy and hammer wielding grandma

This next shot is a close second fave. An older bald guy wearing a visor, stands in his front yard—visible to the road—hosing his garden. He's basically naked save a g-string and, weirdly, shoes with socks. Get some sandals, bruv. 

I don't love this shot because of the old guy. I love the verdancy of his garden, which he clearly looks after very well. After that we see some revellers at what appears to be a truck festival, lathered in mud. The footage is lightly watermarked with a logo reading ThrillBilly Mud Club. Mud clubs confirmed. The woman in the shot holds up two devil horned hands and sticks her tongue out. She's probably wasted. 

Then there's live footage captured by "LuchaLibreFan", of a woman holding two hammers. Presumably poised to attack or defend with them. She's standing outside what appears to be a strip motel, and the cement beneath her is beautifully rugged and lifeline. She says, "Well, look who's back".

[ 0:58 ] Guy falls on table

This very brief scene shows a guy at an open air party (maybe the same ThrillBilly hoedown?). He's launched onto a trestle table full of drinks. He breaks the table. Not sure why we're shown this. It looks cool though.

[ 1:00 ] We meet Lucia's sidekick and companion/lover

Finally we're back to the focus point of this GTA 6 reveal trailer: the story. Lucia is in the passenger seat next to a guy who she's presumably close with. "The only way we're gonna get through this is by sticking together," she says, "being a team". 

While Lucia says all this we see a montage of chaos: the slow burn of the reveal's start has given away to the mayhem of 2020s America. Live Weazel news footage shows the aftermath of an intense police pursuit. Hordes of masked dirt bike enthusiasts parade down a dusty suburban street (there's an ATV here too). A heavily tatted guy in scrubs appears on a Spanish-language news broadcast, accompanied by the text:

After this brief montage Lucia and her as-yet-unnamed companion are masked, roaming the aisles of a small narrow-corridor shop they're presumably intending to rob. Then they're making a quick getaway, and then they're together in a motel room. This shot confirms that they're very close, possibly lovers. They share the words "trust". Then, during the final moment of the trailer, they're storming a roadside shop with pistols aloft. A sign on the door reads "We will no longer accept cash stored in underwear". Another warns against drinking in the store (for safety reasons!). 

Overall, seems like a pretty sweet videogame. GTA 6 will release in 2025 , but only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions have been announced at this time, which likely means that the PC version will release sometime after it comes out on consoles. For Red Dead Redemption 2, it took a year. Boo.

Without question, the arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI will be the biggest video game release of the last decade, well, at least since GTA V .

Following months of rumours and leaks, Rockstar Games finally released the first official trailer for GTA VI in December 2023, and it did not disappoint. The GTA VI trailer uploaded to the Rockstar Games YouTube channel has been smashing records and at the time of writing it has garnered over 181 million views in just three months. However, that number's growth has understandably dwindled in recent weeks.

Before its official trailer reveal, an alleged son of a developer leaked gameplay footage for GTA VI which of course didn't sit well with Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive . Hopefully, despite the shenanigans of the son, that father is still employed by Rockstar Games and if so, I’m sure he’ll be more careful where he leaves sensitive data. Speaking of which, another leak is making the rounds across social media and this time, it’s a strip club from one of GTA VI’s locations, the returning Vice City.

Please keep in mind that by the time you read this article, the GTA VI stripper club footage in question may have been removed from the Twitter account belonging to Dead__Light69 .

It’s also worth noting that this leaked gameplay footage is taken from a very early build; meaning that a lot of textures and animations have not been tweaked or implemented. So the final build will look much better, for sure.

Grand Theft Auto VI does not have a solid release date at the time of writing but we do know that it will be released in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Moscow nightlife: despite the freezing weather, the Russian capital gets hot as the sun goes down. Between discos, luxury, exaggerated parties and beautiful Russian girls, the Moscow nightlife offers everything you need for memorable nights.

The city of Moscow is definitely one of the most interesting European cities: the stories about underground lines and secret bunkers, the architecture of its buildings, from the Kremlin to St. Basil's Cathedral, up to the Soviet style of the Seven Sisters and modern skyscrapers, make the Russian capital is a unique and fascinating city.

One of the many things that Moscow is famous for is its wild nightlife . Moscow never sleeps. If there is anything true about Russians, it is that they love to party! Despite its freezing weather, Moscow turns out to be a hot city with endless fun, hip nightclubs, extreme luxury, beautiful Russian girls and lots of booze when night falls!

In fact, in recent years, the Russian capital has definitively abandoned the gray period of communism and its inhabitants have given vent to their desire for fun. As you might expect in a city of over 12 million people, Moscow has an amazing array of nightlife options and a huge choice for all tastes, whether you are a jazz fan, hardcore clubbers or just plain old alcoholics. The nightlife in Moscow winds through a multitude of alternative and transgressive nightclubs where the watchword is to meet new people and spend a night of unbridled and uninhibited fun . In addition to the numerous discos, in the Russian capital there are also 20 casinos open until dawn. For those who want a break of intriguing relaxation, in the city of Moscow there are also numerous massage salons .

Most of Moscow's nightclubs contain a restaurant, a bar area and a nightclub (the larger ones also have bowling alleys, billiards and a casino!). Perhaps because Moscow is such a large metropolis with very cold temperatures and taxis are so expensive that the owners of the bars and clubs want to offer their customers an all in one place for night entertainment.

So, in other words, Moscow is not the best city in the world for bar-crawling, especially bearing in mind that these multipurpose venues often charge entrance, but rather it is better to carefully choose the club where to spend the night.

For a quieter and more sober evening, head for an evening stroll along the Via Arbat or the Red Square to be fascinated by the lights of the city and the grandeur of the buildings, and admire the shops and street artists. An alternative to experience Moscow's nightlife is to spend an evening of lyric, ballet or opera. The Russian capital is home to around sixty theaters, the most famous of which is the world-renowned Bolshoi Theater (Theater Square, 1, Moscow).

Moscow nightlife districts

Moscow's nightlife is not concentrated in a single district but is scattered throughout the city. However, there are areas with a greater concentration of bars and nightclubs .

The Krasnij Oktjabr (Russian for "Red October") complex, a red brick building located on the island in the center of the Moscow River that once housed a chocolate factory, is dotted with numerous trendy nightclubs and offers spectacular views of the river and the symbolic places of the Russian capital. This is where the most glamorous parties in Moscow take place, there are numerous bars, restaurants and art galleries.

Other neighborhoods with good nightlife are the old manufactory area near the Russian government building which houses some bars, the area around the Trubnaya metro and around Kuznetsky Most , while the Kurskaya groups the clubs with electronic music. We can also mention the area of ​​the Patriarch's ponds, an area that is teeming with quiet bars.

Clubs and discos in Moscow

The crowd is very mixed. Students, young professionals, techno lovers, tourists all gather at Propaganda. Everyone comes to enjoy the music and have fun. It is one of the few clubs where the dancefloor dominates and there are hardly any tables, apart from a few that overlook the entire space. Propaganda is a restaurant until midnight. You can come earlier for dinner and stay for dancing. After midnight, the staff clears the tables from the dance floor and the whole place turns into a club. The place is different from the usual Moscow restaurant / club hybrids, however, because the atmosphere changes completely from "relaxed restaurant" to "underground electro club". Not to be missed.

There are more areas with different music. In the first area, expect a mix of traditional music and Russian pop songs. In the second, slightly larger area, there is live Russian pop music until 2am. After that it is mostly some kind of electronic music. The club is frequented by beautiful Russian girls around 18-25 years old, stunning students or models, and of course there is a good deal of young Russians, middle-aged men and foreign tourists trying their luck! Unlike many other nightclubs, the Icon is a pure nightclub and not a club turned into a restaurant. In any case, if you like to party in a big club and want to savor the typical Moscow nightlife , this is the perfect solution.

The crowd is the same as in other high-end Moscow clubs. Men are rarely under the age of 35 and are committed to giving the impression that money is not an issue. The women are amazing even by Moscow nightlife - if you want to meet Moscow's super models, this is the place! Ideal if you want to toast with the Moscow elite.

The club is located on two floors. The lower floor is mainly frequented by people hanging out at the bar and is good for conversation. The narrow stairs that perfectly fit the student atmosphere of the club take you to the main floor where the real party takes place, complete with a bedlam and girls dancing on the bar counter. In the summer months there is also an outdoor terrace. The place is always crowded and bouncers unnecessarily queue people - having a table or someone inside can be the key to skipping the queue. Otherwise, you might end up waiting half an hour or more. Come early or come back late if you want to avoid the crowds.

The crowd that frequents this club is quite mixed. People are less trendy and more underground. The place is suitable for afterhours, so most people arrive from 3am onwards.

Immediately upon entering, you will have the feeling that you have come to the local high school graduation prom instead of a real Moscow nightclub. There is no real interior design, but basically just a large hall with a stage and a bar. The crowd is almost entirely made up of teenagers and young people. Not many of the teens speak English, but it probably doesn't matter after all the alcohol. The music ranges from Russian pop and hip-hop to the most famous international hits. Perfect if you want to party and drink alcohol in one of the cheapest clubs in Moscow .

Here too, it's full of beautiful girls and it's also a great place to hit them off, as those who come here are notoriously more approachable. The advice is to be very firm with the girls who approach and to make your intentions clear. If you want to be 100% sure to get in, come at 2am when the club is still uncrowded.

Oblaka plays a mix of Russian and international pop music. Occasionally, as in many other clubs, there are performances by Russian pop singers. As is often the case in these types of clubs, the music and DJ are not the best but the guests don't seem to care.

Moscow's bars and pubs

The bar looks similar but still distinctly different than regular Moscow posh clubs. Most of the people who frequent this place are over 25, and you can find everything from young professionals to creative types to self-proclaimed models. Great if you want to see the "real Muscovites" celebrate without the overblown flashes of wealth. The proposed music is a strange mix of old and new commercial songs and Russian pop.

Downstairs is a large open space that opens its doors wide in the summer. The interior is rustic, yet elegant, with wooden furnishings and plenty of seating. The interior combined with Ugolek's popularity creates a crowded yet intimate atmosphere, especially on weekends. People come to chat, drink and eat. The upstairs bar has a more welcoming atmosphere. It is smaller, with soft lighting and armchairs to be able to relax. On weekends there is a DJ who mixes electronic music and transforms the bar into a relaxed place, ideal for the pre-party.

GTA 6 Production Reportedly Falling Behind, Rockstar Urges Staff To Return To Office To Avoid Delay

The open-world sequel is set to launch next year, but leadership is worried it could get delayed until 2026.

Grand Theft Auto VI is likely one of the most anticipated games in history, with millions of players around the world waiting for any scrap of info or screenshot of the upcoming open-world crime simulator. However, as remote workers struggle with an unwanted return-to-office mandate from Rockstar Games, Kotaku has learned from sources with knowledge of the game’s development process that GTA 6 could miss its 2025 release window and slip into 2026.

Officially unveiled in December 2023 (after a massive 2022 leak ) GTA 6 is the hotly anticipated follow-up to 2013’s GTA V . Over a decade after that game’s release—and its massive, still-growing sales numbers—Rockstar Games is hard at work on the sequel, which is set in Vice City, a fictional take on Miami, Florida. The game is set to come to PS5 and Xbox Series sometime in 2025, and internally that’s still the plan. Kotaku was told by sources with knowledge of the situation that “early 2025” is currently the goal.

However, Kotaku has also learned that it’s becoming more and more likely that the sequel might not land until late 2025. It’s also possible that it could even slip into 2026 as production reportedly falls behind.

In February, following numerous leaks, Bloomberg reported that Rockstar Games was mandating its employees to return to work five days a week in the office beginning in April. The short notice and drastic change caught many by surprise and has led to frustration from staff who feel like they are being pushed out after being hired remotely, as reported by Aftermath on March 19 .

While security and quality are reportedly the main reasons Rockstar is instituting the mandate to return to the office, I was told by sources—who wish to remain anonymous to avoid possible retaliation—that development on GTA 6 has started “falling behind.” I’m told this has leadership at Rockstar nervous and worried about the game missing the 2025 window and slipping into 2026, and is another big reason the company is pushing for a return to the office in April.

At the moment, I’m told that Rockstar is still “aiming” for GTA 6 to arrive in Spring 2025. While an early 2025 release is the goal, sources say they aren’t sure if this will happen and a Fall 2025 launch seems more plausible and feasible. Meanwhile, delaying the game to 2026 is on the table as a sort of “fallback plan” or “emergency” option if needed.

And of course, it should be noted—and I was reminded when talking to folks about this situation—that Rockstar Games historically waits until the “last minute” to make changes or alter plans, so the next trailer for the game—no word on when to expect that—might not reflect a delay as the company pushes forward on development.

Kotaku has contacted Rockstar Games

Speaking to Aftermath , one employee shared concerns that after improving over the last few years, Rockstar Games could slide back into dev crunch as GTA VI enters the final part of its long development.

“We’re concerned about going back to that,” said one Rockstar employee to Aftermath.

“I’ve been through a couple of projects, both of which had crunch. The first one was extremely difficult. I had way less gray hair back then. ... We want to continue the strides we’ve made as a company to remove that toxic culture.”

Even if the game is internally pushed back until late 2025 or is publicly delayed until 2026, that doesn’t mean workers—who are being forced to return to the office against their wishes—won’t have to crunch. In fact, sometimes delays just mean more crunch . Regardless, it’s clear that GTA 6’ s final year or so of development won’t be easy or quick as the company aims for early 2025.
