Catamaran training

Looking to charter a catamaran for your sailing holiday? Need to gain handling experience on this popular vessel type?

We are now offering IYT training on Celesta, our 35ft Seawind 1000XL.

One day on Celesta is included on our Bareboat Skipper courses. You may choose Bareboat Skipper (Monohull OR Catamaran) certificate or, if the instructor approves you can request both at an additional cost of $130.

One-off days on Celesta can be organised, to give you catamaran experience ahead of your charter or purchase

Choose a one- or two-week sailing holiday, and fast-track your progression toward chartering your own yacht! Our skipper courses include your radio licence, as well as a day on our catamaran Celesta, giving you experience on these popular vessels as well as qualifying you for the catamaran-specific International Yacht Training certificates.

How do i apply for an international certificate of competence.

In order to receive the International Certificate of Competence (ICC), you must:

• Successful complete IYT Bareboat Skipper course (theory and practical)
• Pay your $89 VHF Licence Fee (directly to the Office of Maritime Communications)
• Pay the $130 fee charged by IYT for an issue of the ICC certificate.

What is the minimum age to complete IYT training?

International Crew Certificate – 14 years of age

Can we book a private course?

Welcome to the world of sailing!

If you’re only available on weekends, we suggest starting with an Australian Sailing Start Crewing course on the keelboats, then progressing to the International Crew Course.

If you have a week to spare, consider our learn-to-sail holiday , which includes two introductory days on the keelboats before four days on Solace.

Rsyc offers members and guests a wide variety of sea sport activities that cater to both the novice and the experienced enthusiast. with courses in boating, powerboat operations and sailing for both adults and children, the club also organises regular boating, fishing and sailing trips for members., powered pleasure craft driving license course (ppcdl), to experience the freedom of driving your own powerboat or jet ski, sign up for the powered pleasure craft driving licence (ppcdl) course and obtain your licence. the powered pleasure craft driving licence (ppcdl) is required for driving a motor / engine powered or jet-propelled pleasure craft (with sz or szh licence prefixes) within singapore port limits. a minimum of two courses are offered each month. each course is a 3-day course, comprising of theory and practical lessons. if you are 16 years of age and above, join us for this course. ppcdl refresher lesson participants who wish to have additional practical lessons prior to their test may register for a 1-to-1 refresher lesson with the instructor. price: 1 hour: $148.79 2 hours: $286.13 3 hours: $434.91 booking must be made minimum 1 week in advance *** the ppcdl course and refresher lessons are conducted by the boat shop pte ltd. for inquiries and refresher lesson booking, please call +65 69048327 or email to [email protected]. for more information, you may also visit www.theboatshopasia.com..

Notes on PPCDL Course 

* Full payment is required before course date to secure seat.

• A minimum of 10 sign-ups is required to commence the course

• The PPCDL attendance certificate will be issued to participants that have completed the course.

• There is strictly no refund for participants who do not turn up for the course after a class confirmation email is sent.

International Yacht Training

The Boat Shop Asia is an International Yacht Training (IYT) accredited training school in Singapore and Malaysia. The training academy is focused on Powered Craft training courses and offers growing numbers of IYT courses from our academy including VHF Maritime Radio Training Course   and Small Powerboat & Rib Master Training (ICC10M) .

IYT tickets (certificates) obtained by students will be issued International Certificate of Competency (ICC) which is adopted by certain United Nations resolutions and thereby recognized in a good number of countries around the world as a yacht/boat driving license in the country. Bareboat (self drive) charter boat companies from those countries also recognize the ICC certificates and allow holders to charter their boats on a bareboat basis. This means that your IYT ticket (certificate) is now an internationally recognized boat driving license.

If you would like to acquire the skills to drive a boat, IYT, with its numerous courses is the perfect platform for you to start your boating journey. If you already  have a PPCDL in Singapore or PCDC in Malaysia, we have conversion paths for you to acquire the IYT and ICC certificates.

1. e-Learning Module Module 1 - Own time Own Target (OTOT) - Learners will have up to a week to complete this prior to attending for module 2. 2. Virtual Training Module 2 - This will be a Instructor-led online theory class (via zoom) that conducts virtually on Saturdays (1 full day) 3. Boat Handling Module 3 - 0.5 days of Classroom session (in Kuala Lumpur or Penang) on VHF assessment and Theory assessment based on Module 1. Module 4 - 1.5 day of Practical session to be spent out at sea, learning on how to navigate and handle the boat, to perform berthing and man-overboard procedures & practical assessment

The new appointment will debut at Singapore Yachting Festival at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove from April 25-28 followed by a VIP open house event in May at the same marina. Here two new Sunseeker yachts will be on show – the 76 Yacht and the Manhattan 55 – which have been designed and built with a "tropical specification" to appeal to the Singaporean market.

DCH Marine has over a decade of leisure marine experience in the region and is poised to elevate customer service and improve product access in the market trading under Sunseeker Singapore.

Meanwhile, Sunseeker has been supplying yachts to Singapore since the 1990s and has ambitious plans to grow the brand in Asia. To aid this, DCH Marine will utilise its extensive expertise in the marine industry and will establish a central hub named Sunseeker Showcase, located within the ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove.

IYT has developed a modular format in maritime training to offer a series of recreational nautical courses that are accepted by major national registries and governments.
