Elba Yacht Charter

Elba is a beautiful island in the Tyrrhenian Sea in the Mediterranean and the best way to explore Elba and other nearby Italian yacht charter destinations is on a luxury sailing yacht or motor yacht. Elba is located just 20 kms away from the coastal town of Piombino in Tuscany, Italy. The island of Elba is the largest remaining stretch of land from the ancient tract that once connected the Italian peninsula to Corsica. The northern coast of Elba faces the Ligurian Sea, the eastern coast the Piombino Channel, the southern coast the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Corsica channel divides the western tip of the Island from neighbouring Corsica.

The island of Elba has about 30,000 inhabitants.  The central part of Elba is a flat section and it is just 4 kms wide. Here you can find the major centres of Portoferraio and Campo nell'Elba. You can see the oldest part of the island towards the east. The hilly area is dominated by deposits of iron that has been formed from the mantle below the surface due to volcanic activities.

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3412 DITA) 1,250hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 14 knots. Her water tanks store around 7,400 Litres of fresh water. She was built to RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) classification society rules.

Two Phish, our 2022 Elba 45 from Fountaine Pajot is a stylish-­looking cat with slightly inverted bows, a reverse sheer to its hulls, and a sporty coach roof and ­Bimini that does double duty as a ­flybridge lounge.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Down below each hull is the mirror of the other. Both laid out with double guest cabins fore and aft, each with its own en-suite head and separate shower. The Salon is a bright and roomy place to spend time. A large sliding door aft lets ­living space spill into the cockpit, where a dining table and ­ample relaxation stations are ­located. Indoors, visibility in all directions is excellent, thanks to oversize windows; the center one forward opens outward to let in the breeze. The skylights overhead provide a clear view of the sails, and there is a low coffee table close by.

Above Decks

The Elba 45 boasts an impressive range of outdoor space, with the emphasis on eating in the cockpit and lounging either there, on the flybridge or on the foredeck sun pads. The deep cockpit offers sofas and a sunbed so you can choose where and how to conduct your afternoon siesta. Follow up with grilled eats from the outdoor griddle.

PERFORMANCE

Under power, a pair of 60hp Volvo diesels with saildrives (50 hp is standard) pushes the Elba right along at about 8 knots at cruising rpm and better than 9 knots in get-there-quick mode. Under sail would be similar.
