We were invited to ride on a personal yacht from a couple of really generous friends that we rent property from. They keep their boat here. The location is very easy to get to from the Norfolk area. They have parking available but be very careful where you park. They do tow and they have signs displayed everywhere. You can also ride the ferry at this location on high street which is about a block away. There is a small fee for riding on the ferry. They accept cash only. The yacht we were on was so lovely. Had everything you could possibly need to stay overnight. Or longer. You get a chance to see all the boats docked nearby and the water was very calm. Would definitely enjoy returning if invited. I hope to be invited again real soon.
Best Anniversary ride ever!!
Beautiful Yacht! Didn't want to leave!
Downtown is just a short walk away; there was a farmers market where I was able to pickup local produce. The staff was friendly and I felt safe where we were located.
Excellent service! The staff was helpful and courteous as I brought my vessel in for the evening.

Tank you, i would use it in Tampico Mexico, that is located in the golf of mexico 250 miles down from south padre island, i don`t know what to buy jet, i have many options and want to choose the best one, i am between, and Ocean, Riviera or Lhurs, what do you think navegates better??. Thanks, for taking your time on helping me out. Regards, Julio

Have you looked at Mikelson? They are in San Diego and have a great reputation in your part of the world.
I am on the east side, and are looking for something to do some marlin fishing.

Capt J said: Oceans are a lot of boat for the money. But they are an average built boat for average seas. I would not even consider a Luhrs. Riviera's are ok. I would honestly look for a used Cabo, or Viking or Hatteras if it were me...... Click to expand...
Julio, I agree with the Capt J and NYCAP123 but don't miss the opportunity to look at a Mikelson. They make a 43 that has the space and ride of many 50s with lots of unique design features by Tom Fexas. Not too many on the East coast but there are several fishing out of California and Mexico.
What do you think about egg harbor are the ass good as ocean and riviera???
sorry but i want to make the best decicion, what about silverston yachts?? tanks,

a Bertram 42' would be a very good option as well.
i like bertram, the problem is that all of them comes with volvo engines, and we don`t have dealer down here, so i`d rather stay with cummins or caterpilar.
I beg to differ. There are 2 42' Bertrams here in PR with Detroits. Not sure if you would want one with detroits, but they're better than volvo's in any case.
i all ready saw them but i`am looking something around 2005

julio, i guess i'll be the lightening rod. you appear (to Me) to be resisting the very advise you had asked for. is there a reason you appear to be hesitant (to me) to look in the Cabo or Viking direction? just don't want to see you work against yourself, and make a purchase that is not best suited for you. Stick to the Ocean Yacht in your price range Of all the boats you mentioned, the newer Ocean Yachts are a good choice. Older Ocean yachts had a lot of problems including many of the handling problems you have heard here. The newer ones are much better. I am currently running a 54' and in the process of helping someone buy a 50' which I was very impressed with . we sea trialed it in 3-6' seas and ran 25 knots + right into it. However, we drifted side to and it rolled pretty badly. As long as we kept moving it handled very well. (I have run at least 7 diffferent older models of Oceans as well). Keep in mind, Ocean is not as strong a quality as Viking Bertram Hatteras, but for the money you get a lot of boat. Capt Jay loves his Cabos but I have run 2 31', a 35' and 2 45' Cabos and I would not let any of my customers who fish rough water buy them. They are very hard riding and extremely wet although well built.

Review for Ocean Isle Marina & Yacht Club
This is a fairly small marina.......I'm sure they experience a labor shortage like everyone........ but the people on staff were friendly enough. You should plan to cook on board. It's a rural setting for sure. Restrooms were clean. Small fuel dock, it appeared that only one vessel at a time for fuel fill up. After waiting a half hour we left and got fuel down the way. We would return for sure

We had read a lot of good reviews about the marina, unfortunately, our experience was not very pleasant. We had read about great customer service and help with lines, but we couldn't get anyone on the radio or on the phone. No one helped us with the lines either at arrival or departure! They were busy with their rental boats, I guess! And we were waked a lot until dark. Be aware of shallow water! With 2.5 ft under our keel and constant waking, we were nervous! It was too late in the day, or we would have gone elsewhere.
We stayed here for two days to wait out winds 30 gusting to 42. They warned us when we called ahead that the outside transient dock drops to 4' at low tide - and it did. Very nice staff. Not an ideal deeper draft overnight. Waterway Guide is incorrect - there is NO LAUNDRY (please change). Wifi didn't reliably reach the outer "L", and there were no bikes to lend (at least in January), but they did allow us to borrow a personal car to drive to Food Lion. 3/4 mile walk to a café/bar. No Pump out.
WG Editor Comment:
Made a planned stop based off of previous reviews . . . Book a slip, but was pleased that they put us on a T (actually an L) wall. Alex and his bride were there to catch our lines and get us situated. Great facilities, super clean/nice restrooms, showers and great hospitality . . . Arrived at high tide, 41' DeFever, 14' beam, 4.5' draft . . . Left at dead low tide and kicked up a little mud . . . Would have given a 4 star because of idiot boaters not following "No Wake" rules, but Alex sounded an air horn to slow them down . . . Definitely would return!
We stayed on a cool Sunday night. Easy to tie up on the outside dock. Wakes were minimal as almost all of the passersby slowed when they saw our red trawler. The docks are in very good shape, the restrooms/showers were absolutely spotless. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Courtesy bicycles available to go to a restaurant or grocery store. Fuel was a good price but we didn't need any. Our 40 feet was probably the max they can handle so call ahead to confirm if you're larger than 40 feet.
It's a small marina that has it all. Easy floating dock, great customer service, and the nicest showers we have seen yet.
Very nice quaint marina. I stopped on way through to Florida for fuel and a dog bathroom break. Very nice employees and owner, would definetly stop again.
The marina isn’t large and doesn’t have a restaurant or fancy amenities but they get five stars as we arrived late, after hours. They helped tie us up, then fuel up, and then put us back on the face dock for an early departure. Decent floating docks, service above and beyond, power and water available. What more can you ask for?
Á very well set up facility for gas our repairs or just a rest stop. The people are wonderful and always willing to help.
