BALTIC 68 CAFÉ RACER OPEN SEASON OPTIMISED FOR RACE COURSE

Commissioned by an experienced owner who is familiar with the Mediterranean regatta circuit, the second Baltic 68 Café Racer is from the same mould as Pink Gin Verde with characteristics optimised for racing.

Designed by Javier Jaudenes with a draft at 4.7m, a single rudder, electric propulsion and construction in advanced composites,

Open Season is essentially a 100% carbon version of hull number one with a resulting displacement of around 20.6 tons.

The first Café Racer was a hugely successful exercise in developing new, sustainable building materials such as solar panels fitted to the superstructure and cork decks seen also on the second yacht.

While the first Baltic 68 Café Racer explored the use of sustainable building materials, evolving electric propulsion and range extender technology, Open Season is optimised for performance with a Sprint carbon hull and pre-preg Nomex deck.

A large array of Solbian solar panels is located on the coachroof providing additional charge and the yacht will carry an 18kW Fischer Panda diesel range extender, although there should be more than enough battery capacity for a day’s competitive sailing.

Her modern, clean interior design is by Jens Paulus featuring a contemporary style embracing the spirit of the Café Racer. Jens said: “It prioritises simplicity and lightweight materials including natural oak furniture, linen bulkhead coverings and the use of structural carbon fibre elements.

It offers a comfortable and elegant living space and maintains a connection with the ocean and the simple pleasure of sailing.”

With performance edge and stunning looks, the Baltic 68 Café Racers are modern yachts reflecting the Café Racer era of the 1960s when London’s Rockers rode pared down, visually minimalist motor bikes designed for fast rides over short distance.

Designed by the famous naval architect Judel-Vrolijk and built at Green Marine originally as a Wallycento, OPEN SEASON was extended from 100ft to 107ft, improving her performances to compete in Wally Class, and won the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in 2015 and 2016!

Constantly upgraded by her Owner throughout the years, she has now found a new ambition to compete in the IRC Maxi Yacht inshore and offshore circuit, rebaptised as SPIRIT OF MALOUEN X.
