The F-22 is currently being manufactured in New Zealand, for world wide export, and additional manufacturing sites are being developed. All listed prices are in US$ with buyer responsible for shipping cost to the nearest port, plus any local duty, clearance fees, and taxes that may apply. Such fees will vary from country to country, and over time - more details below.
AVAILABILITY
The Specifications and Options List covering the currently available models and options can be seen at:
Specifications and Options List
There is currently a significant order backlog (1 - 2 years), but this will come down quickly once additional production starts.
PRICING DETAILS: Full online pricing is available On Request
FREIGHT: As a guide, the approximate sea freight cost (CFR) to major destinations with one sailboat per container are:
NORTH AMERICA US$3500-4700 - - - Europe US$3200-4000 - - - Australia US$2000-2500
The above costs are based on the CFR (cost and freight) rate, where boat is shipped to the nearest specified freight terminal. Removal from container costs, and local transport to the final destination will then be buyers responsibility, as will all destination entry or customs fees, insurance costs, or any destination duty or taxes that may be applicable.
Freight quotes will normally give two rates, one to the nearest port only (CFR), and one to final destination (DAP) which is direct to place of assembly, and includes local clearance and delivery costs (not taxes). Note that freight rates can vary greatly over time and with different destinations so it is not possible to give an accurate freight cost in the shopping cart system. This will be done by a separate quote at time of shipping, but the above is a good guide.
NZ buyers can pick up direct from factory or local NZ wide delivery can be arranged.
The container can be delivered to any convenient yard, so that boat can be removed from container and assembled by owner. This is not difficult, and fully detailed removal/assembly instructions will be supplied with every shipped boat. The following links give a general idea of the procedure:

F-22 Delivery in Switzerland
F-22 Delivery in USA
F-22 Delivery in UAE
If required, a Farrier Marine representative can also assist with assembly for an additional fee, plus any expenses. The larger F-33 takes longer to assemble after delivery, with a more work involved, but the basic principles are the same.
F-33 Assembly
RESERVING A HULL NUMBER
This can be done at any time by making a deposit via the Production Deposit Link at top left. Your deposit will be confirmed by a return email along with your reserved hull number
Depositors will receive a notice 40 - 60 days before construction begins, and the full order with options should then be formulated via the links below and submitted using the F-22 Order check box when checking out.
Ordering online saves a management layer (less cost), and helps avoid any confusion - your final order will be used as the actual factory order. Progress payments will then be due 30 - 40 days before construction begins, payment procedure being as follows:
25% prior to construction beginning (initial deposit is subtracted off this)
25% when main hull and deck are made
25% when beams and floats are made
25% before shipping
Payments can then be made in several different ways when due, as is detailed at the end of the ordering process.
Refund Policy
Full deposits can be refunded prior to construction beginning, with just a $100 administration fee required. No interest will apply to deposits, and as exchange rates can vary over time, any refund will be equal to what was originally paid in the currency of country of residence. It will also be paid to that country, unless otherwise agreed.

Between performance and comfort, which would you choose? To end the debate, Ian Farrier designed the F-22, a folding, transportable trimaran, built for a no-compromise programme combining above average speed and liveability. Until now, it has been built as a one-off by motivated amateurs, but mass production will be starting in 2012.
A few cables from the Croisette and its palaces, ‘Nid d'Abeille’ has just celebrated by parading through the roads of Cannes, clothed in bright yellow and carbon. The F-22 trimaran, built by Thierry Hémard, was impressive on its trailer, but didn’t really have a wasp-waist. The convoy nevertheless threaded its way without difficulty to the small slipway. But when the moment came to manipulate the trailer by hand on the slipway, the mask fell: behind the bulky appearance its ‘body-built’ shape gives it, hides a lightweight young lady, as light as you please, to play the star on the beach…and spoil the fun on the finish lines at regattas. It must be said that the damsel has undergone a strict diet during her construction: lightened foam sandwich at each meal, and liposuction under vacuum to eliminate any excess epoxy resin. Final verdict: less than 600 kg on the scales, when its competitors of an equivalent size show 100 to 200 kg of additional spare tyre. We could also quote the example of spectacular anorexia noted on an F-22 weighing just 480 kg, built completely in carbon by Melvest Marine, whilst other examples have opted for an aluminium mast and less high tech construction,...

Farrier F-22
The king of the trimarans serves up 3 versions of a new model.
Ian’s newest folding trimaran is the F-22, available in three versions: Standard, Premium and Race models. The D/L is 125. There is a single, deep centerboard with a board-down draft of 4 feet 11 inches. The cassette-style rudder make beaching and trailering a breeze. Board- and rudder-up draft is 12 inches. Max beam is 18 feet 1 inch. Note the flat profile to the hull through the middle then it kicks up around station 8. The main hull has that typical inverted bell shape that provides volume where you need it for accommodations and a narrow BWL for speed. There is a very clever galley module that disappears into the seatback area when not being used. This would be camping-style cruising in the F-22 but it would make a great singlehander.
Construction uses the infusion method to insure light weight and strength. Resin is vinylester and epoxy. Carbon fiber is used in high-load areas and the hull is reinforced with kevlar, both sides of the core, for durability. The centerboard on the race model is carbon.
I’m pretty certain that it won’t be long before this class takes off. I would very much like a ride.
LOA 22’11”; LWL 22’3”; Beam 8’2.5” to 8’6” (folded) to 18’1”(amas extended); Draft 12” (board up) to 4’11” (board down); Displ. 3,078 lbs.; Sail area 328 sq. ft.; Auxiliary Yamaha 6- or 8-hp. outboard; SA/D 24.8; D/L 125; L/B 1.26
Our best estimate of the sailaway price $85,000

I can't believe how light the helm is, slight weather helm when close hauled
but otherwise direct. She tacks so cleanly in all winds, with no need to back the foresail and even with just the main around she goes. With the other boat and a reefed foresail I could only gybe her round. Performance: got her on a reach in a Force 5 on flat water, wow what a blast and no rooster tail and no spray, I couldn't believe it and when the lee float started burying no drama, really impressive. Light airs show good performance, with the mono sailors motoring back we sail right through them and they can't believe it. Interior room is really good, loads more room and more comfortable than my previous 28ft boat and she looks really good. Have really enjoyed building the boat, your excellent plans have made it relatively easy and I get the feeling that am going to enjoy sailing it just as much.

The F-32 is a plan version of the F-33, the availability of which has unfortunately been restricted due to unfavorable currency exchange rates, and a limited production capability, making it just too expensive for most markets. However, the F-32 helps overcome this by providing a close alternative that can be built anywhere by anyone.
The F-32 is available in several forms, the F-32A, F-32AX, or F-32R and F-32RX, with both aft cabin and aft cockpit versions, and all can be built by home or professional builders.
The F-32 is a modern ‘state of the art’ design, with most of the F-33 features such as larger floats, new beam to main hull connection system, improved higher set beams and folding system, retractable bow pole, carbon chainplates, synthetic rigging, daggerboard rudder, carbon fiber traveler, higher cockpit (more room underneath), improved sliding hatch, and shorter beams for lower trailering height.
Beams and folding system come with a completely new and simplified hull mounting system that is virtually identical to the F-33, with no annoying hull notches, and virtually no interior intrusion. It does not have the F-33 carbon fiber folding system anchors in the hull, as these are a little tricky for amateur builders. However, they are incorporated in the ready made F-32 beams.
The F-32 has one major advantage over the F-33 – there is a narrow 2.5m (8′ 2 1/2″) version (F-32A), which is the largest legally trailerable trimaran (without permit) in the world. The F-32AX version is the wider (permit required) version, and very similar to the F-33, with its additional interior room, plus there is an R version of both.
Like the F-33, the F-32 has been designed with an ocean going capability in mind, for those intrepid sailors who cannot resist going offshore in what may intended to be a trailerable yacht for bay and coastal sailing, such as the F-9. If one can’t stop such sailors from ocean crossing, then one may as well make the boat as safe as possible, with all the necessary structural and safety features for extended offshore sailing designed in.
F-32AX Aft Cockpit Interior – the one with Xtra room
F-32A Aft Cockpit Interior – the one trailerable without a permit
Interior can be varied considerably to suit owner/builder’s preferences. The layouts shown are intended as general guides only, and can be mixed and matched as required, provided designated structural bulkheads remain as designed. Full size patterns for all internal bulkheads and most interior panels are included in plans along with optional DXF files for having all these items machine cut.
F-32AX Aft Cabin Interior with aft double bunk
F-32A Aft Cabin Interior – with traditional layout
Centerboard Option
F-32ax aft cabin version shown.
A ‘kick back’ centerboard option has now been added to the F-32 design series. This will give a ‘roomier feel’ to the main cabin, and a much larger cabin table (can easily seat 6) is now possible. The settee seatbacks can also be dropped in between settees to form a very spacious main cabin double.
The other major advantage is the ability for the board to ‘kick back’ should one run aground, and this can be a very useful safety feature in shallower waters. Board is a higher aspect foil, and little deeper than the standard daggerboard, so it will be slightly more effective. This will make up for the extra slot drag associated with a centerboard case, and overall performance should be about the same.
Centerboard is now an option for both F-32A and F-32AX (F-32AX shown), with full construction drawings currently in process, and these will be ready by the end of July.
Note that ‘kick up’ centerboards are more complicated than a daggerboard, so will take longer to build, and the extra complexity may also mean more maintenance being required. However, having used such offset centerboards for all the original Trailertri designs, and the F-82, F-36 and F-39, the configuration used has been very well developed and tested. Follow the plans and it should be virtually trouble free.
F-32AX interior and room are very similar to F-33, as shown in following photos:
The F-32 cost to build is similar or just slightly more than the F-9 series. Though a little larger, the F-32 structure is more efficient in many areas.
The F-32 beams , new and unique “Beam Mounts “ (for mounting the beams and folding system into main hull), and the folding system are all available ready made to maximize ease and speed of construction. Plans for self made beams (though not as advanced as the ready made version) are included in the plans which will cut cost of ready made items required to less than $4000.
Particular care has also been taken to eliminate or reduce spray at high speeds, as with the F-33. Beams and folding struts are higher and further away from wave tops, and have been designed to trap and deflect any spray downwards.
Trailering beam varies depending on the float and beam configuration. The narrowest trailering beam (2.5m – 8′ 2 1/2″) for the F-32A will require self made beams.
Many F-33 parts are interchangeable, such as rudder, daggerboard, daggerboard case etc., but not the beams or folding system. The F-32 has the ability to fold down to a legally trailerable (without permit) beam, and the F-33 beams are not configured for this.
F-32R – Short Cabin Version
Cabin can be lower and shorter again if wished
F-32AX Deck Layout
F-32 Aft Cockpit Version
Models Defined:
F-32A – the standard version, legally trailerable without permit, the ‘A’ signifying Amateur builder
F-32AX – a wider, roomier version, that will require a permit for trailering, the ‘X’ standing for extra room. The best choice for ocean work with a greater load carrying capacity, and a wider overall beam.
F-32R & F-32RX – racing versions for experienced sailors, with a taller rig, the ‘R’ standing for Race.
Each set of plans cover all options, including details on aft cabin and aft cockpit versions, and all ‘R’ features, the only choice required initially being between ‘A’ and ‘AX’ models, which have different Full Size Patterns.
