Delivered in 2016, Dilbar is the largest motor yacht in the world by gross tonnage. She is one of the most complex and challenging yachts ever built, in terms of both dimensions and technology. At 15,917 tons, the 156-meter superyacht features entertainment and recreation spaces never before seen on a yacht. These include a 25-meter swimming pool that holds an incredible 180 m³ of water, the largest pool ever to have been installed on a yacht. The exterior design, a classic profile with a light ivory hull and bronze accents, was developed by Espen Øino International. Her spectacular interior, created by the Winch Design team, uses rare and exclusive luxury materials.

Project Sparta: The Megayacht Of The Future

The private yacht that offers everything.

The perfect marriage of bespoke luxury and ultra-efficient machinery, Project Sparta is the megayacht of the future. At 67-meters in length, her clever design asks for no compromises in either comfort or utility. Once finished, she will be the largest steel displacement motor yacht Heesen has ever built. The Dutch shipyard has announced that the construction of the superyacht began in Oct 2020 and is expected to be completed in 2023.

Constantly pushing the boundaries of yacht crafting, Heesen has collaborated with Arcon Yachts of Monaco and Winch Designs to bring the floating masterpiece to life. Arcon Yachts serves as the Owner’s technical advisors and project managers of the full-custom yacht’s construction. Andrew Winch’s interior and exterior design ingenuity has maximized every inch of the vessel’s space while still maintaining an elevated look. Project Sparta features Winch’s signature sleek lines and ultra-modern yet classic touches.

More than just her looks, Project Sparta utilizes Perry van Oossanen’s patented fast displacement hull form (FDHF) to guarantee a hyper-efficient yet smooth and comfortable journey. She has an internal volume of approximately 1,200 gross tons, and her elegant engine room houses two MTU 12V4000 M65R diesel engines. The mega-yacht will reach a top speed of 16 knots and cut through the seas with a transatlantic cruising range of 4,500 nautical miles at 12 knots. Her crew will operate her from a raised pilothouse, lending itself to a more streamlined and sporty profile.

THE PRIVATE YACHT THAT OFFERS EVERYTHING

Project Sparta comfortably hosts 12 guests, two staff members, and 14 crew members. The bridge deck is reserved for the Owner and is composed of two suites and a private outdoor lounge. The main deck houses four guest suites. Winch Designs has shown off his utilitarian side by incorporating a sliding partition that seamlessly transforms two of the front-facing suites into a full beam VIP suite–a feature unusual for a vessel of its size. There is no wasted space and no compromises in comfort found on this go-anywhere-sized vessel. Winch Designs has rightfully deemed Project Sparta a “pocket mega-yacht.”

The stepped aft deck houses a 6.5-meter Infinity pool, and the top sundeck features a bar and jacuzzi. An offset spiral staircase wraps around a glass elevator that connects all three decks. The lower deck is home to crew quarters and a wellness sanctuary that includes an oval jacuzzi, sauna, gym, and steam room.

PROJECT SPARTA EMBARKS ON THE ULTIMATE MAIDEN VOYAGE

Project Sparta’s maneuverability means nearly unlimited opportunities to discover the world’s most exotic and far-flung destinations. Her 2023 maiden voyage will include stops at shipyards in the following most desirable destinations:

1.) THE MEDITERRANEAN

The Mediterranean’s gorgeous coastlines will perfectly complement the yacht’s sleek and super sporty profile. Optimal mooring opportunities abound in this premier yachting destination, with possible dockings along the Amalfi Coast or perhaps a long tour through Northern Sardinia for breathtaking views and some of the  best cuisine  Italy has to offer.

2.)  FJORDS OF NORWAY AND THE LOFOTEN ISLES

Project Sparta was destined to navigate Norway’s vast network of waterways. Her compact size and hyper-efficient machinery will allow her to move deftly through the deep fjords, letting her get up close and personal with its magnificent glaciers. The landscape drenched with untamed mountains and wildlife will offer an abundance of activities for the owner, including fishing, mountaineering, kayaking, and canyoning.

3.) THE CARIBBEAN AND BAHAMAS

During the winter months, Project Sparta and her Owner will warm themselves along the sun-soaked coastlines of the Caribbean. Here, there will be plenty of opportunities to sunbathe on the yacht’s spacious decks, snorkel in the crystalline waters, and take in the warm breeze while entertaining friends and family at the top deck bar. Project Sparta will have no trouble maneuvering between the more than 700 islands the Bahamas has to offer–each with its distinct personality and offerings.

4.) AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND

The Land Down Under’s vast coastline includes opportunities to explore the rugged island of Tasmania, visit the idyllic Whitsunday archipelago, and of course, scuba diving at the iconic Great Barrier Reef. New Zealand is almost ubiquitous with natural beauty, and no voyage would be complete without a visit to the idyllic paradise. Its rolling green highlands, spectacular waterfalls, and majestic glaciers will provide an abundance of outdoor activities for Project Sparta and her owner.

THE MEGAYACHT CHARTER OF THE FUTURE

Project Sparta is destined to influence the future design of mega-yacht charters. Its devotion to ultra-luxury design serves as the perfect template for the ultimate mega-yacht: a spacious and comfortable interior yet compact enough to navigate smaller passageways around the world. Those looking to charter yachts will want the option of being able to go anywhere without compromise.

With our luxury travel concierge , whether you already own a yacht or are looking to charter, each journey is personally customized and guaranteed to exceed all expectations. Embark on the voyage of a lifetime, become a member to book the ultimate luxury yacht charter.

Inside The Billion Dollar Mega-Yacht Dubbed ‘Colossea’ — With Its Own Airship

A civilian luxury aircraft carrier ? Well, that's what one new mega-yacht concept resembles.

Plans for a $1 billion mega-yacht dubbed Colossea have surfaced online, showing its own detachable airship, Knewz.com has learned.

The 699-foot mega-yacht, designed by Italian design studio Lazzarini , releases the craft from electromagnetic blocks that keep it mounted until it's time to take a flight.

According to The U.S. Sun , passengers receive five-star treatment that includes a large pool on the top deck near the helicopter launch pad.

A video featuring the vessel and its aircraft shows them traveling in formation with a cheeky plea for funding that reads " Elon [Musk] , get in touch."

The massive vessel, which is capable of carrying 22,000 pounds in payload, can accommodate up to 24 passengers, along with 20 crew members.

The super-yacht has 22 guest suites with several pools, indoor and outdoor.

"On the Colossea yacht, the airship reimagines its iconic design with the materials and technologies of today , proposing the same measurements of the 1924's model with upgraded materials, layout and propulsion," Lazzarini states.

"The Colossea mega-yacht is an itinerant floating docking station for the detachable airship. Colossea is a concept design, but the estimated cost for the real construction is about $1B."

According to The New York Post , Colossea's design is a tribute to the N1 airship Norge, which made the first-ever trip of any kind to the North Pole approximately a century ago.

However, the aircraft included in the vessel is a new concept. The yacht includes a landing strip that is specialized for the aircraft.

While the mega-yacht is only a concept, it would cost $1 billion to come to fruition, according to Lazzarini.

While Colossea is unique with its aircraft, another super-yacht that can transform into a submarine .

As Knewz.com reported on December 7, a German company, Migaloo, reports it is developing a boat that doubles as a yacht and a submarine.

The M5_2023 was unveiled in June. It's promoted by Migaloo online as not only “the future of yachting,” but the “ultimate expression of personal uniqueness.”

Migaloo calls it the world’s first “private submersible superyacht.” It’s longer than a U.S. football field, measuring more than 160 yards long.

But an online statement by founder Christian Gumpold says today’s yacht owners want something more than a long, powerful boat.

“Owners are looking for privacy, security and protection for themselves, their guests and their valuables,” Gumpold says.

So to ensure “the greatest possible exclusivity and limitation,” Migaloo offers a “private floating habitat” to park the superyacht.

“Kokomo Ailand” is probably much smaller than the place “off the Florida Keys” that became a hit song . It’s about the length of a football field, with “living palm trees,” a pool and a penthouse on one of five different decks.

But in case the seas get rough, the M5_2023 can go as deep as 750 feet underwater and stay there for as long as four weeks. It can travel 20 knots above the surface and 12 knots below it.

You can move the island as well, if you wish. It can travel 9 mph.

This super-yacht is a $2 billion concept.

Incredible plan for $1billion mega-yacht dubbed ‘Colossea’ that comes with its own AIRSHIP… and cheeky plea to Elon Musk

JAW-DROPPING plans for a $1billion mega-yacht that comes with its own detachable AIRSHIP have been unveiled.

Dubbed Colossea the flashy floater stuns in a presentation video flaunting its sleek design - while making a cheeky plea to multibillionaire Elon Musk .

Plans for a incredible mega-yacht with its own detachable airship have been unveiled

The 699 ft-long vessel is the brainchild of Italian design studio Lazzarini and features an incredible airship that's independent from the main yacht structure.

The craft can launch from Colossea and set off on adventures - taking passengers on scenic aerial tours of whatever paradise they're anchored in.

When the captain decides it's time for flight, the yacht follows the procedures to unlock the electromagnetic blocks that keep the airship mounted and unhook the winches to release the airship's lift.

In a presentation video the mega-yacht can be seen in all its glory cruising along the ocean.

The sprawling ship also has four floors with a lavish interior and wood panelled flooring.

But, the star of the show is the breathtaking airship, which can be seen slowly hatching from a pod on top of the vessel and becoming airborne.

The aircraft can be seen soaring alongside the ship - towing a cheeky plea for funding which reads: "Elon get in touch."

The aircraft, which boasts a 10,000 kg payload capacity, will be able to accommodate up to 24 passengers, plus ten crew members.

The yacht offers 22 guest suites and multiple pools for a total load capacity up to 44 guests and 20 crew members.

Lazzarini say: "On the Colossea yacht, the airship reimagines its iconic design with the materials and technologies of today, proposing the same measurements of the 1924's model with upgraded materials, layout and propulsion.

"The Colossea mega-yacht is an itinerant floating docking station for the detachable airship.

"Colossea is a concept design, but the estimated cost for the real construction is about $1B."

The swanky vessel pays homage to the N1 airship, later renamed Norge, that completed the first journey to the North Pole in 1926.

The Norge was a semi-rigid Italian -built airship that was also the first aircraft to fly over the polar ice cap between Europe and America.

It comes as a new 230ft superyacht is set to be built that focuses on giving guests an elegant wellness experience out at sea.

A Russian oligarch's megayacht seized by the US is costing taxpayers a fortune, and the government is desperate to sell

  • A Russian oligarch's seized megayacht is costing US taxpayers $922,000 a month, a court filing says.
  • Officials said last month it costs $600,000 — but there's also insurance and dry-docking fees.
  • Another Russian billionaire is claiming ownership of the yacht and opposing attempts to sell it.

Insider Today

A Russian oligarch's megayacht is costing taxpayers almost $1 million a month after the government seized it, court filings say.

US officials say the $300-million Amadea is owned by Suleiman Kerimov , a sanctioned Russian billionaire. It has a helipad, a swimming pool, and a movie theater on board.

The 348-foot vessel was first seized by authorities in Fiji in April 2022. It's now docked in San Diego, but the government wants to sell it due to huge maintenance costs.

Last month, an assistant chief in the US Marshals Service said the Amadea was costing the government about $600,000 a month .

That's made up of $360,000 for crew salaries; $75,000 for fuel; and $165,000 for maintenance, waste removal, food for the crew, and miscellaneous expenses.

But a Friday court filing seen by Business Insider says there are actually even more costs that bring the total monthly bill up to $922,000.

It costs $144,000 to insure the megayacht, and dry-docking fees of $178,000 a month, the filing says.

The legal battle over the Amadea involves another Russian billionaire, Eduard Khudainatov, who claims he, not Kerimov, is the owner of the yacht.

Lawyers for Khudainatov, who is not sanctioned, have objected to the government's attempts to sell the Amadea.

According to CNBC, which first reported on Friday's filing, Khudainatov has offered to reimburse the government for the $20 million it has already spent maintaining the yacht if it's returned to him.

However, as long as the government continues trying to sell the Amadea, he won't pay the costs, CNBC reported.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

mega yacht plans

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

mega yacht plans

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

mega yacht plans

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

mega yacht plans

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

mega yacht plans

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

mega yacht plans

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

mega yacht plans

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

^thanks again! I'm loving them all! They are so majestic, huge and incredible, I wouldn't mind razing the whole of Moscow just to build them.

Well yes some of them are alright, but to actually build them.......eh.......NO! Although, one of the Stalin era projects, which resembled the Russian White House, was later realised.

I must say I am impressed with most of these sketches. wow

Krasnaya, what do you mean? They are all great, except for the Heroes' Arch, each one is magnificient architecture. Some are modern beyond their eras, and some add that classical touch that makes them withstand time. Honestly, you can build most of these buildings at any time in history, and people would still find them amazing

Sergei

Awesome thread! Most of these projects would still look amazing today!

i agree that if anyone would build these buildings they would become city symbols

NorthPole

I think most of them would look ridiculously, as they are out of historical (communistic) context. Precious monuments of past built in the center of city looking like 500m high copy of Egiptian pyramids. BTW, would you destroy sobor of Christ the Saviour again? Whose monument would you build on the top of Palace of Soviets (V.Putin i think :hahano: ) ? I've heard some interesting information about this building. B/c of the monstrual building the basement had to be big anough and they put huge amount of concrete into it, but b/c of the characteristics of ground and of conrete there appeared problems with it. The base lowered every time and they had to put more and more of it (some speculate that wasn't true, just most of the concrete was stolen and the "unstable ground" issue was only official excuse for the theft). Also one of engineers sugested, that Stalin with finger pointing high up would present danger for air traffic, so they would have to make a big red light on the very top of the finger and it would look radiculously - imagine the Stalin monument with a lighthouse light like on the top of the Eiffel Tower  ). The statue would be 3 times higher than the Statue of Liberty. The Sobor of Christ the Saviour was built in 50 years (before the Revolution) and was destroyed to make place fot the Palace (marbles from its walls were used at construction of the Palace of Soviets metro station - Kropotkinskaya metro station today), in 1995-97 the Sobor was rebuilt (in 2 years!).

Metro city Moscow: The megacity that won’t slow down

Russian designer Constantine Konovalov and producer Natalia Moskaleva have laid out their vision for a new Moscow metro map for 2030.

By Nikki Peach

“T he Queen’s Gambit , except it’s me visualising the metro map on my ceiling when I can’t sleep.” That’s Samantha Berkhead of the Moscow Times’ review of what’s set to be the world’s most complex transport map. At first glance, proposals for the 2030 Moscow metro map are enough to keep anyone up at night, with its complex web of coloured lines, shapes and route transfers resembling the strategic imaginings of a grandmaster – memorising a single station would serve you well at a pub quiz.

But like a brilliantly thought-out chess game, the logic of the map is best understood by its designers.

While Moscow is a formidable, even hostile, city by many estimations, it’s also one that has ongoing plans to become the most well-connected megacity in the world. The latest map for the expanding metro network , designed by Constantine Konovalov and produced by Natalia Moskaleva, does just that; it uses innovative and comprehensive design to map out a city that won’t stop expanding, in a way that continues to reflect these changes.

When the wider Moscow region (also, rather glamorously, known as ‘the Moscow megalopolis’) is included, the city’s population exceeds 20 million , making it the largest megacity in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. It is unsurprising, then, that connecting its citizens and visitors within the city itself is high on the agenda.

This might sound like a perplexing strategy during a time of social distancing, QR codes and remote working, especially as Russia faces a third renewed surge of Covid-19. But its capital city, and indeed the part of the country with over 1.5 million cases, is looking to the future.

Mapping out the future

The Moscow metro first opened for passengers in May 1935 , to a much smaller Soviet Moscow, and its image – and purpose – have remained malleable ever since. The current map is no longer fit for purpose as the city’s increasingly complex transit network needs one that reflects its geography. Not only that, but the metro network has become something of a tourist attraction itself, and it needs a comprehensive new system for citizens and tourists to enjoy – even at the risk of being overwhelmed.

Moscow’s metro has a long and rich history, so redesigning its entire appearance is no mean feat.

Often known as a city of rings, looping together roads, railways and Russians alike – as its population grew, so too did the cyclical infrastructure. Home to the Boulevard Ring, The Garden Ring – notorious for its lack of gardens – and the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, among others, the logic of loops, circles and rings maintaining a constant connection between people and place is central to Moscow life.

The first historical circular line appeared in the country’s metro scheme between 1950–1954. However, encircling the centre of the city and only 19.4km long, it left a lot to be desired as the city continued to mutate . While more circular lines appeared, slowly integrating railway lines along the way, the shape of the city – or rather its transport network – has had to unclench its fist to offer its citizens a more sensical and inclusive map that reflects where users physically are within the city.

Round in circles?

The original structure, some 70 years old, is something that designer Constantine Konovalov and producer Natalia Moskaleva are choosing to reform rather than regurgitate, as they present their vision for the map of 2030. Konovalov, who has worked with Moscow metro before, having previously designed the metro logo – another symbol of Muscovite transport that has seen its fair share of redesigns – which is characterised by a red letter M. It is unsurprising, then, that he and Moskaleva have been trusted with crafting the future metro map.

The designers have created a new approach to the graphic grid, one that currently looks like a sibling structure of the London underground network, shunning the classic scheme construction of a 45º angle grid, the post-popular schematic map design in the world and one that was, in fact, first introduced by Harry Beck for London tube lines.

What sounds like a minor change to someone more accustomed to using the subway than designing it, the new 60º axes will provide a more effective and balanced line network that diverges from the centre of the city, mirroring the real geography of the stations. The designers’ two new rings are not round, doing away with traditional Moscow logic, and all of the lines intersect with each other.

The science behind the new design is one of logic, practicality and style – taking into consideration geography, previous map lines, polygon angles and, of course, circles. The designers said : “When looking for a shape we wanted it to meet three requirements: visual equability (no empty or packed spaces), ease in finding your way and a recognisable shape of rings.”

They added, “we made the historical Circle line (5) round, but the new circular lines (11 and K) are hexagonal. This approach takes into account the further evolvement of the metro. Hexagons became the basis for a rare, yet geographically elegant grid with 60º angles.”

When looking for a shape we wanted it to meet three requirements: visual equability (no empty or packed spaces), ease in finding your way and a recognisable shape of rings.

By unravelling the complex intersections of the existing metro map, the designers exposed the bending lines outside of downtown Moscow. The result is, they hope, easier navigation and the juxtaposition of metro and city maps. The design does not just incorporate the routes themselves but has simplified transfers into “capsules” between stations, so users can easily understand when and how to move from hub to hub.

Mega Moscow

Moscow’s urban development is not only vast in scale but also fast in pace. Konovalov explains, “in recent years the pace of construction has increased so much that the number of stations on the scheme will double in the near future”. This is clear to see when the map of 2013, or even of today, is compared with the vision for 2030 – it looks like the network of two entirely different cities. And perhaps that’s the point, Moscow is a city that is only getting larger – in size and in scope.

While the complete vision of Konovalov and Moskaleva’s metro map is still a long way off, major developments to the network are due to be finished as soon as 2022. The underground Great Ring Line will be completed next year and is 70km long, with two new rings depicted by the designers as hexagons.

Russia’s status as an unmissable tourist destination is debatable, but it’s clear that a large ‘open’ sign hangs above the capital for its ever-growing population. There is no doubt that these changes are sure to attract tourists from elsewhere in Russia, as well as the rest of the world.

For Muscovites that manage to understand the map, they are set to have the world’s largest rail network on their doorstep, while Londoners still struggle to cross the Thames in under an hour.

In the contest to be crowned Europe’s greatest megacity, is this checkmate?
