Joel white haven 12.5 "hope", loa: 16'  and lwl: 12' 6", beam: 6', second hand   (2002)   including braked trailer.

Is this the most beautiful small sailing boat ever drawn? Well I think so!. It is based on the Herreshoff 12.5 design but instead of having a deep keel it has the more versatile drop keel. The self tacking jib, makes it an easy boat to sail single handed. Sails are all in VGC Genoa, Jib and Mainsail. Supplied with road trailer. Good overall cover, a pair oars of oars and rowlocks  and 4 HP outboard engine, grapnel anchor and echo sounder are all included.

Please note that the slight rubbing on the jib pole shown in photograph will be sanded and revarnished by the owner prior to sale.

I sailed the Herreshoff 12 1/2 at the Wooden Boat School one summer. It was the most comfortable saiI I’ve ever had. Your Haven 12 1/2 is just as beautiful.

In 2014 I chose John Brooks’ Somes Sound 12 1/2, a close cousin to the Haven, to build. This was somewhat a leap of faith for me, having never set eyes on one, let alone having sailed one. But my courage was, of course, bolstered through extensive reading about both the H12 and the Haven. Knowing that many others loved those boats, was a great comfort.

We launched EMILY RUTH in the summer of 2015. Since then there has not been a time I’ve sailed her that I did not enjoy all of her characteristics. These boats are safe, fun to sail, comfortable, and a feast for the eyes. What’s not to like?

After a week-long course at WoodenBoat School back in 2015, a few of my fellow students and I took this particular Haven 12-1/2 out for a Saturday daysail. I mostly sail a keelboat, (I do also own an old 16′ fiberglass sailing dinghy and a project wooden OK dinghy) but I just loved the handling of this boat. It was indeed a memorable day of sailing. If I could just convince my wife that we need another sailboat, this would be it.

I am thinking about buying or building a Haven 12.5 or Vivier Ebihen 16 footer. I would like a boat that sails well off the coast of France which can have strong tides. I have seen the Chuck Paine Levant on video too and it seems to be very nice and very undemanding. I would appreciate any comments about the relative merits of each one as they all seem to be reasonably similar. The first two come with a gaff rig, the Levant with a sloop rig. My needs are simple, I like sailing but it must be for the purpose of getting to a destination, and I like it to be fun and fast en route but mostly upright with limited possibility of capsize. For me, it would be fun to sometimes have a bit of non serious social rivalry with other boats but mainly I would like to sail from port to port or around an estuary or bay, stopping of for a nice lunch or an overnight hotel stay. I would always keep a couple of fishing rods on board so that my wife and I could plan to sail to a fishing and picnic spot for the day and upon arrival use it as if it were a fishing rowing boat. I am retired so I would plan to put a number of batteries in it and use an electric outboard for up to 20-mile runs if the wind fails but mainly I would like it to be able to work with very light winds and rarely use the motor. So, while trailerable, it is more than a dinghy and also much less than a proper cruising boat.

These plans are excellent! Though the Haven 12¹⁄₂ is and advance skill level boat the fact that there are full size patterns for all of the molds and critical parts lofting is not required. If you have good woodworking skills and a willingness to learn and take it one step at a time you can be a successful Haven 12¹⁄₂ builder. I've been documenting my build on my YouTube channel "The Art of Boat Building". The plans can easily be adapted to different hull building methods. The only flaw in the patterns is the tiller. If your building a Haven I suggest not making the tiller until the hull complete with the rudder attached. Then the slight flaw is then easy to correct. I've had the pleasure of sailing a Haven 12¹⁄₂ while at the Wooden Boat School. It is a dream to sail even as a novice sailor. After my sailing experience with the boat I immediately purchase my set of plans a decision that is a high point in my life. The designer Joel White is a true master! I highly recommend the Haven 12¹⁄₂ plans and starting on an incredible boat building journey!

I have a complete set of molds for building the Haven 12-1/2. Like the Herreshoff 12-1/2 but trailerable design with a centerboard rather than a full keel. The molds have been used to complete two boats. Included are all the templates for transom, sternpost, keel, and bending form for a laminated stem. The molds come with all the clips and mounting hardware. I have included a photo of one completed hull. Please ask any questions and I will promptly reply.

This is the finest example of a Joel White designed Haven 12 1/2. This craftsman built daysailer has only been in the water one time and is ready for years of fun. Cold-molded hull, mahogany trim, coaming and transom; spruce mast and booms. All bronze hardware, stainless rigging. 600 lb. lead keel center board. Dacron sails made by Northwest Sails. Custom galvanized EZ Loader trailer and 8' tongue extender.

The Haven 12 1/2 is Joel White's centerboard version of the Herresshoff 12 1/2. This boat was built to the highest standards, completed in 2006. It has a white oak keel and steam bent oak frames. It was built with plank on frame construction over molds at each frame with Atlantic White Cedar. The front deck is 3/8" marine plywood with teak marine grade plywood laminated on top and scribed with lines to represent deck planking. The rest of the wood is all mahogany and teak. The gaff rigged sails (main and jib), are from Center Harbor (Maine) sail makers. The metal hardware is all silicone bronze as are all the screws. All the spars are Sitka Spruce, which is very light weight and very strong. She has Sunbrella main and jib sail covers. There is a marine grade deep discharge 12 volt battery which powers Minn-Kota electric trolling motors for auxiliary power. There is also an AM/FM/Marine stereo system with iphone/ipod input and two mounted speakers. A galvanized wire lifting harness is also included. It comes with a custom built galvanized Triad trailer (~2006), which has a custom mast holder and "sail off" capability. New paint and varnish was completed inside and out in April, 2015 using Epifanes Varnish and George Kirby Jr. paint. The boat is located near Detroit, Michigan - worth the trip! $20,000. No longer is it Dad and the guys who determine the features and design of the boats as much as it is Mom and the kids. The Family Sportsman series is designed with all of these needs in mind. Compared to our traditional center console designs you will see more seating with the full width bench seat in the stern where the cushions are removable to convert the bench to a fishing deck. Cup holders haven't been missed and you will find them at the transom seat, console, and even on the front deck. Rod holders are still important as well, and the Family Sportsman has rod storage molded into the side wall of the boats, a feature normally found only in high end, expensive boats. Storage is always at a premium in any boat and we have expanded there with fully lined compartments under the bench. As is true with every Key West Boat, the Family Sportsman series also has live wells in each model. Live wells can double as storage, cooler space, or simply a trash compartment when not used for their intended purpose. We haven't missed the sunbathers either. This 1982 SRV 360 (Sea Ray Vanguard) Express Vanguard is in excellent condition. As an ocean boat it was made to last but this one never made it to the ocean. It has only been in freshwater and it shows. For the last five years it has been in a covered slip in Walden Marina. At a loa of 40+ feet and a beam of 14 feet this boat is huge but surprisingly easy to drive and park. The 340 mib 454 MerCruiser engines have about 1600 hours on them, with the starboard engine being rebuilt 2 years ago. Both engines are strong and both water cooler impellers were changed about a month ago. Both have new fuel filters and oil, and oil filters. The engine bays are very well lit and have lots of room to work in, unlike most newer designs. With two 150 gallon tanks you can go where ever, both are about half full, the gas gauges are not to be trusted as in most older boats. It has direct drive shafts (both recently repacked with Teflon packing) not V drives which deletes a drive box where v drives sometimes have issues. It is so much easier and cheaper to have and maintain than Inboard /Outboard it is ridiculous! Nothing to winterize, no gears to lubricate, no hydraulics to fail, etc... This is an ocean boat with that needed reliability and overkill sitting in a lake. The generator, with 600 hours, is an Onan 6.5 kw Genset and just purrs along running the entire boat with no problem. It generates 125v with no load and 115v fully loaded. The heated water tank works. The freshwater tank holds 100 gallons and is plastic so no rusty tank. The radar, auto nav etc. are state of the art for 1982 and obsolete today. I suppose if you can find a cartridge to fit the auto nav it would work but I don't have one. The depth finder works well and is really the only think you need on a lake. The other gauges, besides the gas ones, work well and I especially like the engine sync. The night time navigation lights all work except for the light on the compass, I haven't gotten around to fixing it, I don't use it at night. I have all the paperwork from the first owner all the way to me the 4th owner of this boat there is a lot of paper work. Details like when the boat was pulled from the lake 5 years ago and the bottom painted and the props changed. Or the Boat surveys and prior owner information. I took a picture of the paperwork in its box. The interior is really nice its so big it's like a small apartment. I can walk 5 steps from the couch to the sink in the main room. There is a huge difference between a 10 or 12 foot beam and a 14 foot beam, no comparison and 30 foot boats and even 33 foot boats are small comparatively to this boat. And there are doors! Not one big room with a bed in the front and back and where everyone has to look at each other with no privacy. Each room has a privacy door, just like on a real ship. There is a flat screen TV with a DVD player, stove, microwave, refrigerator ($1200), two air conditioners, three sinks, cutting board, drawers, little closets and more storage areas than you will ever need. The bathroom is nice and big, there is plenty of room to sit on the toilet and not feel claustrophobic. The toilet is vacuum, you turn on the vacuum then flush and then turn off the vacuum, very simple. There is a separate shower with a bench to sit on. The couch turns into a double bed, the front bedroom has a large oddly shaped bed, and there are two bunk beds in total sleeping 6. The vinyl seating outside is in great shape and well taken care of. The beautiful wood trim is in good shape. The exterior or the fiberglass is in good shape with the typical cosmetic blemishes you find in an older boat, scratches, chips no structural issues. The windlass is electric and works the beam light works. There is a front center windshield glass that is out for much needed airflow. The windshield wipers don't work, I haven't gotten around to them because I don't take the boat out when its raining, but if that is something that is important to you I will have it fixed along with putting the glass back in the center. There are snap covers for the T Top. There is a ripped cover for the back that I saved for a template in case someone wants to get one made. There is a large chest that comes with the boat that is very handy for storing whatever on the slip. I am happy to show the boat to any serious buyers, the boat is on the water in a covered slip in the marina and the slip is transferable so you can take your time deciding when and where to move it or you can just enjoy The Palms Marina. This area is used for storage easily and is conveniently accessible. The stereo system is top notch. The only wear on the boat is a few seams in the seats that need to be restitched and one 2" spot from the cover catching it. When I had it out on the water it ran great, I had no problems with it other than the voltage regulator which is a typical problem so I'm told. The regulator wires are unattached because I was going to replace the unit.I would replace the regulator with an alternator conversion kit which is about 300.00 on eBay. Its not worth replacing the regulator only to have it go again.The starter and battery was replaced 2 years ago. The oil was changed before I bought it but hasn't been changed since because I haven't used it. InteriorThe back of the rear floor is weak and should be replaced but I was told you could just fiberglass over it to strengthen it up. This boat has been cleaned more than it has been used you will never find a nicer, cleaner or more well maintained boat then this one. Every year I owned this boat prior to going in the water it was professionally polished to maintain the high gloss finish, most white boats after a few years tend to get a yellowish off white tint to them if you have owned boats in the past you know what I mean this boat is as white and shiny as the day it was new. The bottom was painted every season with the most expensive bottom paint (interlux). All the zincs were replaced every season to maintain the highest protection of all the metals on the bottom of the boat. The Oil was changed every season even though the boat did not go out from the dock much. I usually did one big trip (2 Weeks Long) every summer on the boat usually From Brooklyn NY were the boat is docked to Flynn's Marina on Fire Island NY and back to Brooklyn other then that I would take it out close to the dock and drop the anchor and just relax. At the end of each summer the boat was professionally winterized to keep it from getting damaged during the cold winters, Both engines the generator and AC lines as well as all the water lines were pumped with marine antifreeze to protect them from busting in the winters. The Engine room floor as well as the bilge area is as clean as the day it was new most boaters when I show them my engine room floor cant believe how clean it is. My theory on the engine room area being clean is simple, if you keep it clean you will know if you are having issues with the engines, if everything is grime and oily and dirty how can you tell if something is leaking or if its just grime and oil that has been built up over time, if you know that it was clean and you see something leaking you will be able to detect were it is coming from. The interior of the boat is just as clean as the day it was new all the carpeted areas are stain free and have always been protected with towels or carpet runners, the vinyl seating area as well as all the vinyl trim on the interior is in perfect condition. The interior of the boat smells as fresh as the day it was new their is not even a hint of any kind of musty smell that you will find on lots of used boats, my wife who was in charge of keeping the interior of the boat clean has done an amazing job of keeping the 2 bedroom the bathroom, kitchen area as well as the salon looking as if it just left the showroom floor. Upstairs in the the cockpit area which is the area I am most proud of and were most boats tend to show the most wear from the weather elements this boat still looks like it is new, the top deck was always covered with a custom bridge cover that I had made which covers the entire top deck protecting it from all the weather elements that tend to make the tops of boats prone to being damaged, the Captins chair along with all the other seat cushions on the top deck are very clean an not weather worn, not only did I cover the top of the boat when not being used all the cushions were stored in the guest stateroom when the boat was not being used to keep the away from outside exposure I would only bring the cushions upstairs when I planner on taking the boat out. If you haven't figured out by now after reading the above description that I am a bit over the top when it comes for caring for this boat I don't know what else I could say to assure you that I have treated and pampered this boat with nothing but the best I dont know what Else I could say other then you should not be looking to buy a used boat the only way you will find a nicer Meridian 341 is if you were to go to the dealer and spend $276,000 for a new one, this is a new as you will ever find a used boat specially one this size. Mechanically the boat is in perfect running condition needs nothing, the AC units are perfect and make ice cold air, all the electronics on the boat function properly I even added A KVH Satellite dish antenna with a Direct TV receiver so you can watch TV anywhere you take the boat, the passengers can even watch TV while the Boat is cruising. This boat was a pleasure to drive nice and smooth and when it came to docking the boat this boat was so easy to maneuver for such a big boat it is a great boat for someone stepping up to a bigger boat it is very user friendly specially when it comes to docking the boat, the boat is equipped with bow and stern thrusters making the boat very easy to fit into tight docks. While the boat is in as perfect condition as you will ever find a used boat their are a few small items I want to mention, their are a few scratches and I do mean just a few that are barley visible that were on the boat when I got it, the small fridge on the bridge is not working I was told the compressor went bad and since I am not upstairs much I never bothered to fix it, the lock on the fridge in the galley is broken, although the lock is broken the handle still works and the door stays closed keeping the inside of the fridge cold, the lock can be replaced easily but it never bothered me since the fridge was still working fine. I am sure their may be a few other superficial items that can be addressed to make the boat 100% perfect but nothing worth mentioning since they did not bother me who is very picky I am sure they will no bother you. You are bidding on a near mint 1989 26’ Shamrock Mackanaw Hart top Express type fishing boat. It has a Loa of almost 29 feet Shamrock Marine boats are one of the most high end, high quality made fishing boats ever made. The craftsmanship and structural integrity of this boat is mind blowing. A true offshore fishing machine with all the amenities you can ask for. The patented Keel Drive Design performs extremely well in offshore conditions and is very economical to run. Shamrock quality can easily be compared to names like Bertram, Rampage, Albemarle, Blackfin, Fountain, Contender, Pursuit and Boston Whaler. Shamrocks were hand made and hand laid by skilled craftsman using the highest quality materials. NOT LIKE the mass produced production line fishing boats like Grady White, Mako, Aquasport, Proline, Bayliner, Trophy and the like. Very few Pilot House hulls are available to choose from that have quality structural integrity besides the Shamrock, Parker s, May Craft s and Steiger s COMPLETE DESCRIPTION DRIVETRAIN - Powered by a Single Chevy V-8 350 pushing 250 horsepower. The motor starts right up and runs smooth at any rpm and pumps tons of water. The oil pressure is excellent and the motor runs cool as well. The engine is mated to a Borg Warner Velvet Drive straight inboard transmission that shifts smooth and quiet in both forward and reverse. The running gear including prop is in great condition and operates vibration free. The huge solid bronze rudder is in great shape and issue free. Extra spare prop in mint shape is also included. KEEL DRIVE - Shamrock Boats are made with their patented keel drive system. It’s a fully fiberglass encapsulated keel that completely protects the propeller, adds tremendous stability to the boat giving is a very smooth ride under offshore conditions, it increases fuel economy and adds stability by lowering side to rocking when you are shut down fishing. The bottom of the Keel is reinforced and protected with a solid ¼” built in strip of bronze that protects the keel from any scrapping and is extended to protect the propeller as well. On the bow of the boat at the water line is also protective bronze metal to add protection to the hull from any objects you may hit in the water. At a mellow cruise of about 20 knots it burns about 5 gallons per hour and gives you about 4 Mpg. If you bring it up to a 24kt cruise you’re still getting 3 + Mpg, depending on sea conditions of course. This is unheard of fuel economy compared to most outboard and inboard outboard boats FUEL AND FUEL MANAGMENT – Factory rigged with 2 separate 50 gallon fuel tanks located on one each side center to rear mid-ship. The tanks are leak free and were factory made from Aluminum and then barrier coated to add protection from the elements. You can run on both tanks or one depending on your preference. Each tank has its own high end Racor fuel filtration system with drain bowl. There is also additional inline filtration before the fuel reaches the carburetion. SAFETY - There are also 2 fire extinguishers included with the vessel, a life throw ring, distress flags, Flares and flare gun (flares are expired and will need replacement), life jackets, etc . STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY – THE STUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THIS BOAT IS MINDBLOWING. FROM THE ROCK SOLID HUGE STRINGERS TO FULL FIBERGLASS ENCAPULATED KEEL. EVERYTHING IS ROCK SOLID AND IN GREAT CONDITION INCUDING ALL AREAS OF THE FIBERGLASS NON-SKID SOLID FIBERGLASS FLOORS AND HATCHES. THERE ARE NO SOFT SPOTS ANYWHERE. THIS BOAT WAS EXTREMELY WELL MADE AND OVERBUILT. THERE IS NO WOOD CORING TO ROT OUT AND CAUSE ISSUES. HULL – THE HULL HAS KNICKS, DINGS AND SCRATCHES BUT ITS A FISHING BOAT. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF ANY MAJOR REPAIRS FROM ACCIDENTS ANYWHERE ON THE TOPSIDE OR BOTTOM. THE BOAT IS IN GREAT STRUCTURAL SHAPE. A GOOD CLEANING AND WAXING COULD MAKE IT LOOK VEN BETTER. BOTTOM - The bottom is in nice structural condition with no sign of any hits or repairs that were ever made. RUBRAIL- The heavy duty rubrail is in nice shape ALSO COMES WITH FOLDABLE TOWER AND TOP - NOT INSTALLED OR SHOWN IN PICTURES ROD STORAGE- There are built in rod storage holders located in the cabin. Six rod storage holders located under the port and starboard gunnels. Topside there are 4 built in Stainless Steel Rod holders. COCKPIT- The cockpit is huge with plenty of room for fishing. Personally I would add 2 nice wise fishing / deck chairs with gimbals for a few hundred dollars. THERE IS A REAR REMOVABLE TRANSOM DOOR TO PULL YOUR FISH IN EASILY. WITH THE REAR CONTROL STATION ITS VERY EASY TO MAN THE BOAT SINGLE HANDEDLY AND CATCH THAT MONSTER FISH. TOP / RADAR ARCH/ ROCKET LAUNCHERS- The factory installed integrated aluminum radar arch / top enclosure with 4 built in rocket launchers is overly built and in great condition. All the welds are tight and everything is secured tightly to the decks STEERING / CONTROLS / CABLES - The steering is smooth, tight and operates the rudder properly. The Morse throttle and shift controls and control cables work properly and operate smoothly from the front station. STEERING / CONTROLS / CABLES – REAR STATION The Rear station will need new control cables and steering cable installed. I have the parts just haven’t had a chance to install them 12 VOLT POWER – The boat is rigged with 2 batteries controlled by a battery selector switch. There is also an onboard battery charger system as well. MISC MECHANICAL- The trim tab motor, switches and tabs themselves works perfectly. There are 2 bilge pumps both with float switches and operate properly. The blower motor works great. The windshield wiper motor works great but it could use new wiper blades. All these items operate properly from their intended switches. GUAGES - The helm comes equipped with a full set of gauges including built in sea water temperature gauge, Volts / charging gauge (charges properly), Temperature (engine runs cool), Tachometer (operates properly), Oil Pressure (excellent), GPH gauge and clock. The gauges are back lit for night usage. Nice built in compass... SWITCHES - Every single switch operates as it should. RAILS / CLEATS / GRAB BARS - All the stainless steel rails, cleats, grab bars and mounted very strongly. The stainless rails are in great shape with no loose rails or bends anywhere. The Stainless cleats are in great shape, strategically placed and solid as rock secured. DECKS AND HATCHES- There is not one soft spot anywhere on any topside deck or the main deck. All the hatches are made of solid fiberglass (no wood core to rot out and aver cause problems).Almost every square inch of every deck is factory made with non-skid to ensure proper footing at all times. The decks are self bailing as well. WINDSHIELD - The Windshield is in excellent condition. All the glass is crack free. The aluminum is in nice shape and with some metal polish would come out amazing, The front and passenger side front lower windshield sections open up for ventilation (one locking knob is missing a $5 part in marine store) WINDOWS AND CABIN HATCH - Inside the Cabin the main hatch is made from solid fiberglass is leak and issue free. There are also 2 opening porthole hatches in the cabin that are leak and issue free. CABIN - The cabin is in decent nice shape. I have brand new cushions being fabricated. The V-Berth is a very good size and with the Insert and additional Cushion it’s a huge amount of sleeping room. The headliner could use a cleaning and a little adhesive but other than that the cabin is very nice with all the teak wood... With some teak oil the cabin would look amazing. The cabin structure is all molded fiberglass including the cabin floor. BATHROOM - The bathroom is located on the left side of the cabin. It is completely enclosed for privacy. EASY ACCESS -This boat was designed for easy access to work on or maintain any and all ships systems. The engine itself can be assessed from either the forward engine hatch or a rear hatch. Transmission and packing shaft can be easily obtained. The rear rudder and steering control systems are accessed from a rear hatch. All decks are screwed down incase you ever needed to access any of the systems. There is also a built in Hose fitting so the engine can be very easily run off a hose, makes it very simple to winterize the engine with non tax and flush out the system. THROUGH HULLS PENETRATIONS- There are 5 through hulls located in the boat. The First being the water intake which has a brass pick up strainer (in mint shape corrosion free and has new zinc) The intake leads a inline manual shut off (works perfectly) then to a large southbay strainer with removable strainer and then feeds into the heat exchanger and cools the antifreeze which cools the engine in the fresh water cooling system. The Second through hull is for the salt water washdown intake which provides salt water for the live well and the salt water wash down spicket under the gunnel... This though hull contains an inline manual shut off valve that operates smoothly and properly. The Third re is a high end built in transducer which is properly installed, secured and leak free. The Fourth is where the Stainless Steel Shaft comes though the stuffing / packing box into the transmission. The stuffing box is in great shape and issue free. The Fifth is where the rudder penetrates the hull to meet the Hydraulic steering arm. This area functions properly and is issue free as well HOSES All the hoses throughout the boat are in great shape and issue free STORAGE - There is tons of storage throughout the boat. Under the V-berth are hatches with access to large individual storage compartments. Plenty of Rod storage with built in rod holders in the cabin and under the gunnels. There are 5 Tackle storage drawers and 4 long Teak shelving compartments and 2 built in deck storage or fish boxes ELECTRONICS - The only electronics that is included with the boat are 2 built in VHF Radios. Everything is pre-wired for depth finder (built in transducer), Radar unit and GPS are not included but it is all pre-wired including Raytheon Radar antenna and GPS antenna. Richie Powerdamp Compass. All Shamrock hulls decks and component parts were hand-laid using rolled fiberglass materials and resin. The hull is molded in two halves and, depending on the deck and cabin configuration, an additional 15 to 20 individual molds are used to create the parts necessary for the completed vessel. This allows for removable components that provide easy access for replacement of machinery and tanks. It’s a more expensive way to build boats but the result can often save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars when repairs become necessary. When the two halves of the hull are joined, the keel is filled with a mixture of resin, sand and glass fiber resulting in a rock-solid appendage able to withstand substantial impact. The full length keel adds stability and protects the running gear. This carefully, hand crafted construction added several hundred hours of construction time to each boat Fuel tank is coated with a zinc chromate primer to help prevent corrosion from exposure to bilge water and marine quality stainless steel and bronze fittings and fastenings are used throughout. Shamrock boats are powered by direct-drive inboard engines rather than fuel burning and less efficient outboard and inboard/outdrive power options offered by other manufacturers of boats in this size range. The inboard engine is mounted near the center of the boat for better weight distribution and they are mounted lower in the hull for a lower center of gravity. This leads to greater stability and better handling characteristics such as predictable motion, good lateral and tracking stability and full-length keel that helps dampen roll whether trolling or at rest.

An almost new boat, very little sailed.

The Herreshoff 12 ½ designed by the great Nat Herreshoff in 1914 when he was already 66 years old has become possibly his most enduring design despite 6 Americas Cup winners and so many fabulous big yachts with hundreds of them built in the USA and round the world

American designer Joel White described the Herreshoff 12 ½  as “ probably the best small boat ever designed” and went on to design a centre-board version of the great man’s 12 ½  which he called the Haven 12 ½,  Design No 75.

Joel White’s centreboard Haven 12 ½ version  is shallower in the bilge than the original with 3” more in the beam to maintain displacement. Rig, hull shape above wl, performance and everything else remain the same as the Herreshoff 12 ½

Lürssen's 82m Project Cali officially christened Haven

Lürssen 's Project Cali has officially been christened Haven . The 82-metre superyacht was last seen snaking down the Kiel Canal in northern Germany in preparation for sea trials, with delivery imminent.

Designed in-house by Jim Robert Sluijter, Haven is characterised by a reverse bow and expansive deck spaces that place a "great emphasis on outdoor conviviality".

Speaking to BOAT International at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show , Sluijter said the project had been designed for a family-orientated and active client. While full details are yet to be disclosed, her interiors will be RWD -designed.

Haven 's sundeck spans an impressive 30 metres, while her beach club benefits from fold-down platforms that create sea terraces port and starboard. Other highlights include an al fresco dining area with a barbecue, pizza oven and outdoor cinema. Key numbers include a draught of 3.5 metres and beam of 12.5 metres.

According to BOATPro , Lürssen has nine yachts currently under construction. This includes the 122-metre Kismet , which is expected to see delivery any day now.
