The Manta MKIV is a US-built blue-water vessel with an excellent reputation established as a serious offshore liveaboard catamaran that can be easily single-handed. Featuring the popular “owner’s layout,” SV Salty Fish is outfitted for long-range cruising. The port hull features the owner’s suite with master stateroom and a private head with a separate, large stand-up shower. Midship has multiple built-in bookshelves and storage cabinets that line the port hull companionway. The starboard hull features two guest staterooms and a shared head with a separate stand-up shower, as well as built-in bookshelves lining the companionway.

The vessel includes a “galley up” design, as well as a salon for lounging and entertaining. Engine compartments are easily accessed via the aft berths with a strut-assisted bunk lift and opening doors. A Reverso oil-change system can be found in each engine compartment, as well as an RCI fuel polishing system on the port side. The transmission comes with a pump-out tube, allowing oil to be changed/replaced without the need for a haul-out. All sail lines run to the helm for use with an electric winch, while a manual winch is used with the spinnaker sheets. Known for their robust build quality, Manta catamarans were constructed using vacuum-bagged GRP, cored with honeycomb material and with the bow and keel areas further reinforced with Kevlar material. The hull-to-deck bond was accomplished using adhesive, and laminated internally with GRP, creating a robust monocoque structure. Solid GRP can be found below the waterline and in the areas of the thru-hulls and chainplates. Additionally, all deck hardware is through-bolted with laminated aluminum backing-plates and all thru-hulls and seacocks are non-corrosive Marelon. All mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were designed in accordance with ABYC standards, ensuring safety, reliability and ease of maintenance. All maintenance has been accomplished as prescribed since we have owned this vessel. We are full-time liveaboard-cruisers and have set this boat up for serious off-grid operation – our list of upgrades is quite extensive and can be found below:

The Manta 42 is a world class catamaran made in the USA. They were built in Florida from the 1990's into the early 2000's. Thoughtfully designed, engineered and built to withstand just about anything mother nature can dig out. Many Manta's have crossed the Atlantic and circled the globe. They are designed to be run by a  cruising couple but can also be easily single-handed. All rigging lines/ sheets are run back to the helm and its electric winch.

Down below there is plenty of natural light, headroom and storage.  The main salon is spacious and well laid out with a large galley and seating area. This owner's version has a large master stateroom with head and two additional cabins with a shared head. This catamaran was the featured boat at the Annapolis Boat Show in 2000 and also won boat of the year. She still has the same owners. Recent additions include Mack Pack main installed 2017, Garmin electronics package 2022, new custom mattress owners berth 2022, and new hot water heater 2024. Twin Volvo Penta engines have 2000 hours. Much recent mechanical work this year ensures the next owner has even more reliable power plants. Boat was stored indoors from 2000-2010 and annually shrink wrapped since. She has been to the Bahamas and Florida but is a New England boat primarily. Overall a very nice boat that presents very well and shows years of good care, maintenance and upgrades.
