Newport Harbor Yacht Club. Located on the picturesque Balboa peninsula in Southern California, NHYC enjoys a long-standing and wonderful tradition of yachting.
Moonstone Cove and mooring field serve as the club's long time private outpost on Catalina Island, with 40 some odd moorings and a beautiful sheltered cove with full showers, restrooms and a complete outdoor galley with BBQs. We are once again positioned for our next 100 year journey.
Moonstone Beach is private and operated by Newport Harbor Yacht Club based in Newport Beach, CA. The cove has many moorings available and room for boat anchorage too. Catalina Express operates ferries daily to Avalon on Catalina Island from the mainland in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Dana Point.
NHYC is fortunate to enjoy year-round racing. Our signature races include the Islands Race, Baldwin Cup, Channel Islands 500, Long Point Race Week, and many more.
The club is open 5 days a week, plus a full-time dock staff and shore boat. [1] The club has applied for a building permit to replace their 1919 clubhouse with a larger, modern building. [2] The Newport Harbor Yacht Club also leases Moonstone cove on Santa Catalina Island. [3]

Located on the Balboa Peninsula, Newport Harbor Yacht Club is in proximity to Newport Beach's shopping and dining options. The area is famous for its scenic beaches, Balboa Island, and the nearby Catalina Island, accessible by ferry.

From junior sailing in our local bay to premier racing around the world, NHYC members compete on all levels of junior, one-design, inshore, and offshore sailing.
The Islands Race, a 142 nautical mile race around Catalina and San Clemente Islands hosted by San Diego Yacht Club and Newport Harbor Yacht Club, returns on February 25-26, making it the first offshore race of the year in Southern California.
