Yacht Charter in Monaco
Monaco yacht charter
The perfect epitome of a luxury destination, Monaco, sits above it all. Located on the Mediterranean Sea and part of the French Riviera, there's nowhere else in the world that perfectly embodies a hedonistic definition with all the glitz and glamour. The summer holiday destination of royals, A-listers, and the world's most famous personalities is the ultimate place for upscale shopping, high-class casinos, and the world's most luxurious superyachts docked on the marina. With an area of 2.020 km2, Monaco is the second-smallest country in the world. Although it is very small in size; the country is a glamorous and extravagant gateway for tourists. It is one of the most expensive and wealthiest places on the planet. The country has princes and princesses, grand lifestyle, first-class restaurants, magnificent hotels, million dollar boats, and luxurious yachts.
Why charter a yacht in Monaco?
As one of the most breathtaking and sought-after destinations on the French Riviera, to charter a yacht in Monaco is the best way to enjoy its spectacular Mediterranean coastline. From a full-day itinerary visiting its famous beaches to an overnight charter to a nearby coastal town to a full-week liveaboard cruising the French Riviera, a yacht charter will create the most memorable Monaco experience.Nestled in the middle of Côte d’Azur and blessed with more than 300 sunny days a year, sailing and yachting are very popular in Monaco.
Charter a yacht to explore the French Riviera and anchor in the deep blue waters just offshore and enjoy numerous water activities. Admire the country and the sparkling sea from your Jet Ski or a Flyboard. Relax under the sun in Larvotto Beach, enjoy the botanical garden of Jardin Exotique, Visit the Prince’s palace, be amazed by the Monte-Carlo Opera House, experience the Monaco Grand Prix, or bask in the glitz and glamour of Monte-Carlo. As multi-million dollar yachts are so popular here there is an annual trade show “The Monaco Yacht Show”.
What are yacht charter prices in Monaco?
Undoubtedly, the top place in the world to charter a superyacht, yacht prices in Monaco vary depending on several factors. These factors include the type of yacht you rent, the accommodation and amenities, inclusions such as canapes and drinks for a sunset cruise, the number of people on board, and the rent duration. A 62-foot motor yacht for ten people on a day cruise can cost around $4,000. A 295-foot sailing yacht, with all the benefits of a luxury yacht, can cost about $332,000 for a week's rent. And if you want the ultimate yacht charter experience, a 315-foot superyacht with a helicopter hangar, a spa, a spool, and a gym, can cost around $1.5 million for a week's rent.
When is the yachting season in Monaco?
The yachting season in Monaco falls from April to October, but the summer months of July to August is the peak season, where you will see the most boats on the water, the weather is at its hottest, and winds are at their lightest. However, yachting is generally possible all year round since the country does not experience extreme weather, while the sea is usually calm with friendly waves.
Monaco has a Mediterranean climate. The summers are long, dry, and warm while the winters are short, wet, and mild. Summer afternoons can be hot but still pleasant, with an average temperature of 21 °C to 26 °C. The sea breezes bring cooling relief to the heat. The season starts in July and lasts until September or October with July as the warmest and driest month. August is the ideal month for swimming. The temperature will decrease in autumn. It is the season with most rain, especially October and November. Winter is still very pleasant, with January as the coldest month with an average temperature of 10 °C. Days will start to get longer in spring that starts from April to May.

Meet Our Monaco Team
Quality services start with our brilliant people, mitch labrie, delphine labrie.
"When asked by Mitch if I could provide a testimonial for him my only problem was to remember exactly how many yachts I’ve been involved with due to him over the years. I think it is 6, and on each occasion I’ve worked with him it has been an easy mix of professional and friendly support. Mitch has a background at sea and knowing that a qualified Master who understands the job is there in the background and available if required has always been very reassuring. He selects his team accordingly and I’ve enjoyed working with his accounts and yacht management assistants equally over the years. With the advent of Cube Yacht Management, knowing Mitch has set this up I am very comfortable to recommend his services to anyone needing professional, approachable yacht management services." Yacht Rental Monaco
One might argue that nature's bounty is nowhere more extravagant than in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, where the exuberant principality of Monaco nestles like a rare gem. The craggy outcrops of the French Riviera, draped in a shroud of shimmering cerulean, serve as the backdrop to this delightful enclave of affluence, indulgence, and style.
The Whys of Yacht Rental in Monaco
❑ The Harmony of Luxury and Nature
In the grand ballet of the earth, sea, and sky, a yacht serves as a conduit, allowing you to engage in a harmonious pas de deux with Mother Nature. To rent a yacht in Monaco is to participate in a performance as old as time itself, an experience enriched by the lap of the waves against the hull and the taste of the salt-kissed air.
Monaco, with its glittering casino lights reflecting off the rippling azure of the sea, offers a delicate balancing act of untouched natural beauty and the throbbing pulse of civilization. The thrill of the Grand Prix, the hum of the Casino de Monte-Carlo, and the sophistication of the yacht show present a triumvirate of unparalleled spectacle that ripples beneath the cobalt canopy of the Riviera.
❑ A Vantage Point Like No Other
From the sea, the man-made beauty of Monaco is laid bare in its full splendour. The city's architectural crescendo, the Palace of Prince Albert, stands as a testament to the great achievements of human endeavour. The best way to absorb this spectacle is not from the bustling, narrow streets but from the comfort of a luxurious yacht, bobbing gently on the ever-caressing waves of the Mediterranean.
Navigating Monaco: Must-Visit Locations Aboard Your Yacht
Monaco, although small in size, bursts with destinations that capture the heart and ignite the imagination. Your yacht rental becomes not just a luxurious retreat but also a vehicle, providing unrivalled access to some of the most intriguing locations in and around the principality.
🚢 Larvotto Beach
As you traverse the radiant Mediterranean, your yacht should first steer towards Larvotto Beach, Monaco's only public beach. Dotted with plush beach clubs, the sandy stretch offers an excellent spot to anchor and enjoy a sun-soaked day, surrounded by turquoise waters.
🚢 Port Hercules
Next, venture into the very heart of Monaco by sailing into Port Hercules. An embodiment of glamour and luxury, the port serves as the hub of all nautical activities. This setting hosts the famed Monaco Yacht Show, where vessels of all sizes flaunt their grandeur and innovation. Here, you may dock, stretch your legs on land, and explore the vibrant cityscape that lies just steps away from the marina.
🚢 Monte-Carlo
A stone's throw away from Port Hercules is the dazzling district of Monte-Carlo , known for its opulent Casino de Monte-Carlo and the belle-époque architecture that surrounds it. As evening falls, view the city's illuminations from the tranquillity of your deck – a scene that perfectly encapsulates the blend of natural and human-crafted beauty.
🚢 Cap d'Ail
Navigate slightly west from Monaco, and you'll encounter Cap d'Ail, a charming town with an alluring coastline. The secluded Mala Beach is a splendid spot to drop anchor. Enveloped by high cliffs, this beach offers crystalline waters ideal for a leisurely swim or snorkelling excursion.
🚢 Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat
Further along the Riviera, the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula beckons. This serene location is adorned with lavish villas and exotic gardens. The famed Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is a sight to behold from the sea, with its pink hue contrasting against the deep blue backdrop. Nearby, the quiet bay of Paloma Beach offers an idyllic spot for anchorage.
To the west of Monaco, you'll find Nice, the largest city on the French Riviera. The Bay of Angels offers a stunning panorama of this bustling city, especially at night when the Promenade des Anglais is lit up. Anchor off and take a tender into the port to explore the Old Town with its vibrant markets and the hilltop park of Colline du Château.
Further down the coast, the famed city of Cannes awaits, with its world-renowned film festival and the bustling Boulevard de la Croisette. From the sea, the Lerins Islands - Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat – provide a serene contrast to Cannes' bustle and are perfect for a leisurely exploration or an afternoon picnic.
🚢 Saint-Tropez
Your journey can extend to the glamorous town of Saint-Tropez, a renowned playground for the jet-set. Its port is a spectacle in itself, often hosting some of the world's most impressive yachts. The nearby Pampelonne Beach is an iconic locale, known for its clear waters and beach clubs.
🚢 Italian Riviera
Turning eastwards from Monaco, your yacht can set course towards the Italian Riviera. The picturesque town of Sanremo, with its beautiful beaches and renowned casino, is a wonderful stop. Further down the coast, the Cinque Terre, a series of five brightly-coloured fishing villages perched on rugged cliffs, offer stunning views and a taste of the classic Italian "la dolce vita."
🚢 Corsica and Sardinia
For those seeking an extended adventure, the islands of Corsica and Sardinia are within reach. The wild, untamed beauty of Corsica, with its towering cliffs and sandy coves, is a delightful contrast to the urbanity of Monaco. Sardinia, on the other hand, offers the allure of the Emerald Coast (Costa Smeralda), famous for its crystal-clear waters and secluded beaches.
A final recommendation for your yacht expedition is the medieval village of Eze, perched high above the sea on a rocky outcrop. While not directly accessible by yacht, the nearby waters offer a mesmerising view of the cliffside hamlet. Its cobblestone streets and charming boutiques are worth a short trip ashore.
As you navigate these locations aboard your yacht, remember to embrace the journey – each wave carrying you towards new experiences and treasured memories in the heart of the Mediterranean.
Pre-Rental Considerations: An Ocean of Choices
Before you embark on this nautical odyssey, it is crucial to reflect on several factors to ensure that your yacht rental experience in Monaco aligns with your deepest desires and satisfies your yearning for the sea.
⛵ The Size and the Style
Just as in the diverse ecosystems I have observed throughout my career, from the rainforests of the Amazon to the vast plains of the Serengeti, there exists a variety of yachts to suit every individual's taste. From the compact elegance of the motor yacht, perfect for a family outing, to the extravagant grandeur of the mega yacht, designed for the indulgence of a larger group, the choice, like nature's bounty, is limitless.
⛵ Time of the Year
Each season brings a new spectacle to the shores of Monaco. Spring's caress transforms the city into a bloom of colourful flora, summer basks the sea in an inviting warmth, autumn's brush strokes the city in hues of ochre and red, and winter, while rarely harsh, imparts a quietude seldom seen in other seasons. To choose the perfect season is to listen to one's soul and let the inner compass guide you.
⛵ Itinerary Planning
Each journey requires a careful understanding of the path. While Monaco itself is a treasure trove of experiences, the surrounding areas like Cannes, Saint-Tropez, and the Italian Riviera offer a richness of culture, history, and culinary delights. Planning your itinerary carefully is akin to preparing a map, a roadmap of adventures to come.
The Best Yacht for Monaco Waters: The Majesty of the Mega Yacht
In the azure cradle of the Mediterranean, the mega yacht reigns supreme. Much like the lion in the African savannah, the mega yacht is the pinnacle of the food chain in Monaco's yacht landscape.
⛵ The Space Factor
These yachts offer an unparalleled level of luxury and comfort, often boasting facilities akin to a five-star hotel. In Monaco's grand spectacle, it's only fitting to choose a vessel that mirrors the surroundings' splendour.
⛵ Unmatched Amenities
From swimming pools to state-of-the-art entertainment systems, a mega yacht often contains every amenity one could possibly desire. In this man-made ecosystem, every comfort has been meticulously considered, replicating the luxury of the shore with a touch of intimacy that only a private yacht can offer.
⛵ Environmental Considerations
Despite their grandiosity, the latest mega yachts often come equipped with eco-friendly technology, ensuring the delicate marine ecosystems of the Mediterranean remain unharmed. They offer a balance between indulgence and responsibility, a nod to the delicate equilibrium of the natural world.
As you set out on your nautical journey across Monaco's shimmering waters, remember, like nature itself, the joy is not just in the destination but also in the journey. Your yacht, your floating sanctuary, will be your companion, your refuge, and your window to the vast expanse of the Mediterranean's mesmerising beauty.
Unfurling the Sails of Inquiry: Frequently Asked Questions
As we traverse the vast expanse of the Mediterranean and explore the many delights Monaco and the surrounding coastlines have to offer, it is natural for questions to emerge from the depths of curiosity. Like the sea, curiosity knows no bounds, and it is our pleasure to shed light on some of the most frequently asked questions we receive from our fellow seafaring explorers.
What is the best time of year to rent a yacht in Monaco?
Every season graces the Mediterranean with its unique charm. The summer months (May through September) are typically warm, inviting, and popular for yacht rentals. The Monaco Grand Prix in May and the Yacht Show in September are notable events that draw enthusiasts worldwide. However, the mild Mediterranean climate means that even the spring and autumn can provide a delightful yachting experience, with fewer crowds.
Is it necessary to have sailing experience to rent a yacht in Monaco?
While a hands-on sailing experience is indeed a thrill, it is not a prerequisite for renting a yacht in Monaco. Most yacht rentals come with an experienced crew, including a captain who knows the Mediterranean like the palm of their hand. They ensure your journey is not only luxurious but safe, leaving you free to relax and immerse yourself in the surrounding beauty.
How long does it take to travel by yacht from Monaco to nearby destinations?
Travel times by yacht can vary based on several factors, including the type of yacht, sea conditions, and speed. As a rough guide, a trip from Monaco to Nice could take around 2 hours, Cannes approximately 3-4 hours, and Saint-Tropez around 5-6 hours. The Italian Riviera starts just an hour to the east, while a voyage to the islands of Corsica or Sardinia might necessitate an overnight journey.
What amenities can I expect on a yacht?
The amenities on a yacht can range from the comfortable to the ultra-luxurious, largely depending on the yacht's size and class. Basic amenities typically include well-appointed cabins, lounges, a kitchen, and deck space. Larger, more luxurious yachts might feature swimming pools, hot tubs, a gym, a cinema, an array of water toys, and even a helipad. It's like having a floating villa with ever-changing sea views.
Are there any legal considerations or restrictions to be aware of when renting a yacht in Monaco?
Yacht rental in Monaco is subject to maritime laws and regulations. All yachts must be registered, insured, and comply with safety standards. Guests on board must respect international maritime laws, including environmental regulations. However, when you rent a yacht, the rental company typically takes care of these legalities, providing you with a hassle-free and enjoyable experience.
The sea, in its grandeur, holds countless experiences and memories waiting to be discovered. Each question brings us closer to unlocking its vast potential, turning the unknown waters into familiar friends.
Classic yachts: Sail into a world of tradition
Autumn sees the annual Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez bringing together some of the world’s most beautiful modern and classic sailing boats to race in what is one of the most the prestigious regattas on the racing circuit. Miriam Cain looks at a handful of the finest classic sailing yachts, and replicas, available for the yacht aficionado to be part of the action.
The perfect backdrop for a classic sailing yacht regatta, Saint-Tropez has been hosting Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez for over 40 years. Originally known as La Nioulargue, the annual rendezvous of beautiful, traditional and modern sailing yachts is held in the bay of Saint-Tropez each autumn. This year, it will take place from Friday 29th September to Sunday 8th October.
The history of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez
The event was launched in 1981 when an owner and skipper of two classic yachts raced each other from the foot of the village of Saint-Tropez around the Nioulargo to arrive opposite Club 55 on Pampelonne beach. Today it has become an exciting regatta for owners to enjoy the power and performance of over 300 sailing yachts in every size and shape racing across several performance classes.
The Voiles de Saint-Tropez, and other classic regattas hosted in some of the world’s favourite cruising grounds, capture the attention of not just yachtsmen and dedicated racing fans, but of owners, their captains and crew worldwide. The yachts themselves are awe inspiring but add to this the passion and skill of their crew together with the festival like atmosphere that surrounds a racing event both on the water and on the quayside, and you have the making of an exciting few days that is accessible to owners worldwide.
A world of tradition
For those wanting a genuine sailing experience or to take part in some of the finest racing action, the enduring appeal of a classic yacht is second to none. Admired for their beauty and desired wherever they go, owning a classic sailing yacht is not just about acquiring a vessel, it’s about becoming a part of a rich legacy.
The French two-masted Schooner Weather Bird , for example, was built in 1931 for Sara and Gerald Murphy, a high-society American couple whose well-known families flourished in fortune. After settling on the French Riviera, the couple launched Weather Bird , which served as inspiration for numerous artists that they hosted on board. Some of her most notable guests included Cole Porter, Coco Chanel, Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Picasso, not to mention Murphy’s good friends Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald. It is rumoured that Fitzgerald characterised the main characters in his novel Tender is the Night after the Murphys.
Weather Bird has received many updates and upgrades over the years, including a complete refit in 2021. Her interior spaces showcase the classic 1930s styling, with a timeless, romantic feel, while her exterior deck spaces are spacious and offer seating areas for guests to socialise and relax while cruising, or racing in regattas, such as Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez.
Another classic is the legendary sailing yacht Tamory . The 26.58m (87’) wishbone ketch was built in 1952 and will be familiar with classic yachting enthusiasts in the Riviera, having been moored in the Monaco Palace’s berth in Fontvieille for the last few decades. She is a yacht of special character and strong heritage; any new owner would be owning a piece of yachting history. Despite having undergone a number of refits over the years, including her most recent in 2000, Tamory has managed to retain her classic, elegant styling with her teak deck in excellent condition and below deck, her charming interior comprising a wood and cream finish with polished brass accents.
The timeless Bermudian schooner Armide is another fine example of a beautifully restored classic. Built in 1938 and meticulously restored between 2016 and 2018, her exterior radiates timeless elegance with her classic design and flush decks. Adorned with beautiful bronze deck fittings, reconditioned spruce masts and booms, and a new bow sprit to enhance performance, she is now part of the South of France’s maritime patrimony. Although she was not initially built as a race boat, thanks to her new sails and rigging, Armide would be a formidable contender on the regatta circuit.
For those looking for a classic design but with all modern amenities, there are a number of replica vessels and classically styled but modern builds. The topsail zchooner Naema , for example, is classic to all appearances, but she is in fact a replica of the famous Alfred Milne design Panda , which was launched in 1938. Built in 2006 and refit in 2015, Naema has been created with authentic schooner rigging, but with modern sail handling systems and electric winches.
For those looking to race, she has a proven record having won the 2019 Classic Schooner Association Regatta. She has also been engineered to deliver all amenities for luxury living aboard, including superb guest entertaining areas.
Alternatively, the 2018-built Spirit of Venice is a classic masterpiece combining modern elements and the latest technology with an authentic classic style. She was built with all the features to be sailed single-handedly around the world with the utmost comfort and updated technology.
Whatever your preference, be it a restored classic with a special pedigree or a modern day replica, the immediacy of ownership is a distinct advantage as you can sail away on your classic yacht without having to wait for a new build – see you on the finish line.

Sailing and Yachting in Monaco
Sailing and yachting in Monaco are two good reasons to come to this land of sun and joy. Monaco is synonymous with luxury and glamour. Nestled at the heart of Côte d’Azur, Monaco is a great place to spend your holiday amidst premiere tourist facilities. Here’s what you should know before departing on a cruise to Monaco.
The weather
Yachting in Monaco is possible in different periods of the year. The French Riviera is famous for its sunny weather and Monaco enjoys a fair share of it. The average temperature in the hottest month of the year, August, is 24°C. The coldest month is January, with an average temperature of 10°C. The ideal month for swimming is August when the sea’s temperature equals the average air temperature. The sea here is usually calm, with friendly waves and light breeze. Outside the peak season, the Mistral wind might be felt.
Charter options
- Bareboat vs crewed
A bareboat charter is one without a crew. Superyachts always come with a crew aboard. If you opt for a smaller vessel, you’ll get all the independence you want and have fun with your friends doing all the necessary boat-chores.
- License for boats
Most motorboats for rent are only available for sailors with license. If someone in your crew is licensed, you can easily rent any boat. Another option is hiring a skipper whose cost may reach 300 € / day.
- Sail without a permit
Some small boat rental companies allow sailor without permit on low-powered vessels. However, bigger companies typically require a permit.
Chartering yachts
If you plan to charter a yacht in Monaco, all you need is money and the rest will adapt accordingly. There is an extremely large array of yachts you can charter, ranging from luxury mega yachts to smaller but equally stylish models.
Charter costs & taxes
Prices for yacht charter in monaco.
The prices for Monaco yacht charter vary based on the size, facilities and age of the vessel. Besides the rental fee, you will also have to pay for the fuel, berth booking and for the crew in case you’ll have one. A low-powered dinghy that can accommodate around 5-6 people will cost around 200 € per day.
The price increases according to the boat’s power. If you want to sleep aboard, the prices for yachts accommodating several persons starts from 1500 € per week. Luxury superyachts can range in price between 30,000 and more than 1.000.000/week. The prices are also influenced by the period when you want to charter. The high season and the period in which the Grand Prix is held are the most expensive.
Prices differ based on the berth reservation you want to book. However, the Riviera is not a cheap option especially during the peak season. It’s also possible to anchor for free in a cove that’s not part of any port. But you will not benefit from the services and safety guaranteed by a marina.
It’s up to you to choose whether you want to cook aboard (yachts offering accommodation also have a kitchen) or eat out. The first option is normally the less expensive. In a restaurant, do expect to pay at least 25 € for a lunch (drinks not included). Furthermore, you’ll pay three times that price for dinner.
The price for a liter of fuel is approximately 1.20 €. The cost will vary based on how much your boat consumes. A small boat can require as much as 150 € for fuel per day.
You will be told what tax applies to the vessel you’re renting. Some boat rentals include the VAT tax. Other companies will require an additional price of 19.6% as VAT.
Security Deposit
It is quite a common practice to ask for a security deposit. So, inspect the boat carefully before you decide to rent it. Otherwise, you might pay for the damages caused by a previous client.
Every boat rental company should have their vessels insured. You are allowed to ask for proof of insurance.

Virginia couple missing in Grenada and feared killed after yacht allegedly stolen by escaped criminals
By Nikki Battiste, Tucker Reals
Updated on: February 27, 2024 / 4:48 PM EST / CBS News
Two Americans who planned to spend the winter on a yacht in the Caribbean were officially missing Monday, but feared to have been killed after their boat was stolen by prison escapees in Grenada. Kathy Brandel and Ralph Hendry were last seen a week ago near a beach in the small island nation. Police found their sailboat, and captured three escaped criminals whom they believe stole it.
The couple was likely thrown into the ocean and died, police in Grenada said Monday. "Information suggests that while traveling between Grenada and St Vincent, (the suspects) disposed of the occupants," Don McKenzie, police commissioner of the Royal Grenada Police Force, said at a news conference .
Grenadan police were still searching for the couple, who are from Northern Virginia, and they told CBS News' Washington, D.C., affiliate WUSA that no bodies had been found.
Family and friends have described the couple as seasoned sailors who just last year sailed their yacht, named Simplicity, from Hampton, Virginia, to Antigua. They confirmed that the pair had been vacationing in Grenada, where their boat was docked.
In a statement Tuesday, the couple's family said that Hendry and Brandel sailed the eastern coast of the U.S., living on their yacht, "making friends with everyone they encountered, singing, dancing and laughing with friends and family."
"It's just really sad," said longtime friend K.C. McAlpin, who added that Brandel and Hendry had planned to make this their "last grand trip" on Simplicity.
Instead, things may have taken a very tragic turn. The couple went missing on Feb. 19, one day after police in Grenada say three convicted criminals escaped from custody.
The three men — identified as Ron Mitchell, 30, Trevon Robertson, 19, and Abita Stanislaus, 25 — were arrested in December over an alleged violent robbery. Mitchell also faced one count of rape, three counts of attempted rape and two counts of indecent assault and causing harm.
All three were recaptured Wednesday, Feb. 21. The yacht was also found that same day, Brandel's 71st birthday, abandoned on a beach on the nearby island of St. Vincent.
The police believe the men hijacked the couple's yacht in Grenada and then traveled to St. Vincent.
Police said they found evidence suggesting the pair were killed, but the Americans' deaths have not been confirmed and the investigation was still in its early stages, they stressed.
"Several items were strewn on the deck and in the cabin, and a red substance that resembled blood was seen on board," said police spokesman Junior Simmons
Over the weekend, family members released a statement thanking officials and those who had helped gather information, saying it "means so much to us that so many people care for Ralph and Kathy."
"We live in world that at times can be cruel, but it's also a world of profound beauty, wonder, adventure, love, compassion, caring, and faith," the family said on Tuesday. "Our parents encompassed all those values and so much more. If we have learned anything from this tragic event, it's that we know they left this world in a better place than it was before they were born."
McAlpin said the couple always made friends easily and he hoped they would be remembered for their big hearts.
"They were just a delightful couple and a real blessing in my life, and the lives of so many other people," he said.
