The Model Collection: Brief Notes and Catalogue

The Club’s collection of yacht models is one of the most extensive in the country and the half-model collection housed in the Model Room, just off the Britannia Bar, one of the most comprehensive in the world. Around the Clubhouse are models of the yachts of the 18th century Cumberland Fleet, warships from the days of sail and steam yachts from the Edwardian era. But it is in the Model Room itself that the heart of the collection resides: arranged in chronological order clockwise round the room and to common scale, the collection traces the history of yacht design from the mid-19th century to the present day. Along with the models there are photograph albums depicting many of the yachts under sail.   A recently compiled catalogue of the collection is available in the Model Room to assist with identification and bound copies may be purchased for a nominal sum.   A PDF version of the catalogue may be viewed online by clicking here . Selene's 36 Archer is a cruising classic. Quality design, construction and outfitting has created a very capable cruiser. This popular model is sought after by knowledgeable boaters for good reason. 

The Selene 36 Ocean Trawler features a level of luxury normally only found in larger yachts but in a size and price range that is affordable. This roomy full displacement coastal cruiser has a tri-cabin layout that comfortably accommodates four in two separate staterooms with in-suite heads.

The Selene 36 has a large gourmet galley with abundant storage, an island master berth, a separate master shower and a spacious guest stateroom with a large V- berth forward. Her interior is elegantly finished in solid teak joinery with polished jade granite counter surfaces and Grohe stainless steel fixtures. On the outside, the Selene 36 has a graceful hull sheer and salty cabin lines due to her forward raked wheelhouse windows; a design feature commonly found on commercial vessels.

She is built with all the same quality and robust construction of her larger Selene sisters. With an actual LOA of 41’8”, she is the biggest “36-footer” on the market. 

"Kairos" is a fine example of the Selene 36 Ocean Trawler; she is specifically equipped for cruising the San Jaun and Gulf Islands or northerly latitudes like the inside passage. Her cruising equipment includes Espar Heat, Tundra Fridge/Freezer, a 10’ AB Tender with 6 HP outboard and a Nick Jackson Transom Davit. She is an extremely fuel efficient trawler, making her the perfect choice for long range cruising, she has a range of over 1000 nautical miles on one tank of fuel with a 10% reserve.

The Selene 36's deep draft, full displacement hull design (35,700 lbs.) has proven itself to be stable and sea-kindly in all weather conditions. She is also an easy boat to single hand and maneuver at the dock with 8hp Bow Thruster and a BEI Articulating Rudder. When you add it all up, Kairos is simply the dream of the serious cruiser. The Selene 36 is a quality-built coastal trawler with an admirable blend of comfort and ruggedness. With her graceful sheer and distinctive reverse-raked front windows, this small trawler has long been viewed as one of the most compelling boats in this class.
