The award winning 23.96m/78'7" catamaran yacht 'Great White' was built by Sunreef Yachts in Poland at their Gdansk shipyard. Her interior is styled by Polish designer design house Sunreef Yachts and she was completed in 2020. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Sunreef Yachts.

Great White has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 4 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 4 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Great White is built with a composite hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel MAN (V8-1200) 1,200hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 14 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 22 knots with a range of up to 3,500 nautical miles from her 16,000 litre fuel tanks at 14 knots. Her low draft of 1.68m/5'6" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 2,400 Litres of fresh water.

Last month, Rafael Nadal received his fully custom Sunreef 80 Power and things appear to be going swimmingly. The Polish shipyard has released pictures of the 34-year-old tennis pro aboard the luxury catamaran and he’s smiling like he just won a grand slam. That’s because, in the marine world, he did. Great White represents an ace in high-end multihulls.

Nadal first commissioned the 80-footer back in July 2019. The ultra-modern cruiser was specially designed for the current World No. 2 and his wife Maria by the Sunreef team. The all-rounder combines five-star comfort with exceptional seaworthiness and has an epic interior fit for a tennis king.

Sunreef Yachts

The yacht’s sizeable living space spans just shy of 4,000 square feet and is one of the largest in class. It has been fully decked out with no expense spared to the exacting standards of keen yachting enthusiast Rafa. The centerpiece is a stunning master stateroom, which features a flip-down ceiling TV above the bed, a walk-in wardrobe, a plush sofa and a private fold-out balcony where the Spaniard can catch some rays. The craft can sleep up to eight guests in total across three roomy cabins and a starboard owner’s suite. Of course, there’s also room for crew.

Elsewhere, there’s a generous light-filled saloon complete with luxe contemporary furnishings, a dining space that seats eight people, and a lounge area with two 77-inch televisions installed back-to-back for obligatory tennis watching.

Outside, meanwhile, Great White has a full-beam alfresco dining space at the stern with its own weatherproof TV and a luxurious flybridge where guests can lounge about on big sun pads and enjoy a bar and yet another pop-up TV. She also sports a wide hydraulic swim platform that offers an extra sunbathing spot by the water, plus an aft garage that holds jet-skis, water toys and a requisite tender.

As to be expected, the cat’s exteriors are as equally impressive. Built in composite, Great White sports a sleek silhouette and clean lines for which Sunreef is renowned. She’s fitted with two 1,200 hp engines that help her run like a star athlete and give a top speed of 24 knots or cruise speed of 14 knots.

Power catamaran GREAT WHITE from Sunreef yachts is an 80 Sunreef Power model that was delivered mid-2020. She measures 24m/78.6ft and has naval architecture and styling from the shipyard. The accommodation sleeps a total of eight guests across four en-suite cabins.

The hydraulic lower deck swim platform offers an easy way for guests to enter and leave the water, and a stairway up each hull leads to the main deck aft. Here, a sunbed/sofa lines the stern with an elevated table and movable chairs to create a desirable alfresco dining are for the whole group. A sunbed is placed to port and a starboard stairway leads to the flybridge above. Side walkways connect to the foredeck, where there is an L-shaped sofa and coffee table to port and starboard, plus a broad sunbed where guests can savour sweeping forward views.

On the flybridge, the pilot and co-pilot seats grant guests and crew a comfortable place to rest with the views, and immediately behind in the shade on both sides is a corner sofa and coffee table. The wet bar and barbeque grill is amidships to port with loose lounge seating in the centre of the space. This section can be shaded or opened to the elements at the touch of a button, and a row of sunbeds lines the sun-exposed stern.

The port-side hull contains the galley aft, a double guest cabin amidships and a twin cabin forward. The starboard hull layout has a twin crew cabin aft, the Master suite amidships and a double cabin forward, with more crew accommodation in the bow.

In the central under section, the aft area hosts a spacious tender garage capable of storing a tender, jet skis and additional water toys. The open-plan interior places the helm controls forward to starboard with the formal dining area to seat eight forward and centre, and an L-shaped sofa in the port corner to relish the sunshine through the large windows. Behind, a widescreen TV pops up from the cabinetry and both sides of the room have a chaise-lounger beneath the windows, an armchair and a coffee table.

The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 8 guests over 4 en-suite cabins: 1 Master suite, 2 double cabins and 1 twin cabin. ~ The Master suite is amidships within the starboard hull and has a private fold-down terrace. Within, there is a double bed, a pop-down widescreen TV concealed in the ceiling, a sofa, walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom furnished with a sink, toilet and shower. ~ The double cabins are forward of the Master suite in the starboard hull, and amidships in the port hull. On board Sunreef catamaran Great White with tennis superstar Rafael Nadal

International tennis superstar Rafael Nadal and winner of this year's French Open takes us on a tour of his 24 metre superyacht Great White ...

He’s a singles tennis star, but when it comes to hulls, Rafael Nadal is now very much a doubles man. His 23.95 metre 80 Sunreef Power catamaran Great White features a flybridge with a bar and barbeque, a stern garage for a jet ski, an elegant interior in cream and coffee tones, and 360 square metres of living space.

His passion for boats began in childhood, zipping around his home island of Mallorca in his father’s Riviera power boat. He began his own yachting career with a Princess V62, followed in 2017 by Monte Carlo Yachts’ MCY 76 – nipping home between gruelling tournaments for short snorkelling trips or a night of peace on board. But chartering a Sunreef 74 sailing catamaran made him realise what two hulls can offer. “I met great crew and visited amazing places in The Bahamas,” he recalls. “Those seven days with my family on board were unforgettable – especially thanks to the huge amount of space and comfort. Those were the main reasons that now I own one of Sunreef’s catamarans.”

For Nadal it was all about space. "I have only owned monohulls and on a catamaran I was captivated by the huge amount of space. Honestly, in my small port [in Mallorca], the 80 Sunreef Power is the biggest boat that can dock there. It’s great for me that I can have it here in Porto Cristo, located in front of my house. The huge amount of space that my catamaran has is unreachable by any monohull up to [30 metres]. That is for me the main reason for switching from monohull to multihull."

Nadal said he intended to use  Great White  around the coastline of his home island Mallorca as a break from his intense training schedule. “The pressure of competing every single day is high, you can’t hide that,” he said. “When I come back home, I have the chance to go out and spend maybe just one day away from everything without thinking about tennis, just diving and spending the night on board.”

Designed in-house, the fully customised catamaran is intended for long cruises and features “bold, contemporary hull styling,” the yard said. "I wanted to feel like in my own house," said Nadal on the interior concept. "Of course I had some special requests. I didn’t want a Jacuzzi on the flybridge, because I prefer open spaces. I don’t need features like Jacuzzis on board – I have water around the boat to swim in and enjoy."

Key exterior details include stainless steel portlights, high bulwarks and subtle ambient lighting, as well as a superyacht tender garage large enough to hold a tender, Jet Ski and other water toys. Accommodation on board  Great White  is for a total of eight guests in four cabins, with the owner’s suite sitting in the starboard hull alongside another guest cabin and the crew quarters. Nadal’s master suite features a walk-in dressing room, sofa, flip-down ceiling TV above the double bed and a private fold-down balcony.

“Every time I have the chance, I come back to Mallorca and get on the water. I have always loved the feeling of adventure a boat offers you. You feel free.”

“As someone from an island, as I am, the sea is part of our lives and it’s not a secret that I love the sea. Every time I am at home in Mallorca I try to go out and find that time where I can just enjoy my time on a boat,” he said.

Sunreef releases layouts of new power catamaran range

All-new range of power catamarans from Polish builder will span from 60-90ft

The architecture of the new range offers maximal living space, by using the volume of both hulls and bridge deck. This means the living space in the guest accommodation can also be significantly increased.

Its innovative Eco range, which features a “solar skin” – super-thin photovoltaic (PV cells) that have been built into the fibreglass structure of the yacht – was developed in-house.

Earlier this year, Sunreef’s R&D Strategy Consultant Nicolas Lapp, son of founder Francis, told APB the yard’s Eco models will soon become standard.

On days we get to test the most sold model in its segment, we love our job – especially if the said model is a power multi-hull. 80 Sunreef Power, so popular it found its way to tennis superstar Rafael Nadal (named Great White), is a delightful luxury catamaran .

80 Sunreef Power is 24 meters long and luxurious in more ways than one, but the most visible feature that puts it right up there with equally sized motor yachts is the interior decoration – and the customization options, which, if you have a knack for style, can turn your unit into a showcase of yacht interior trends.

The owner of the unit we tested in Cannes, an American gentleman, confirmed he was more than happy with his choice, adding that even though 80 Sunreef Power was a match in every aspect, he was most pleased with the boat’s volume and entertainment and relaxation spaces.

On this said unit, the cockpit was furnished with a dining table and an aft bench. Behind them there was still enough space for a hydraulic-powered platform to store the tender, and below the cockpit there was a large garage for a jet ski.

The biggest flaw in design of most multi-hulls is the lack of that garage – seeing how there is nothing but empty space aft between the hulls – so this solution already gives the 80 an advantage. The cockpit also had a large TV, integrated into the bulkhead that separates the cockpit from the main deck salon.

The salon was customized, and as we learned, decorated by the owner’s wife, in light, natural shades and in supple, refined fabrics worthy of a luxury motor yacht . Every detail was supremely finished. As for the layout, it mirrored the usual sailing yacht layout: on the right, a dining table, on the left, a sofa, front a galley with a beautifully designed kitchen island with plenty of storage space.

Layout is customizable, as we said, and the galley can be moved to the left or below deck. Another interesting option is switching places of the galley and the master cabin – in that case, the master cabin is a continuation of the main deck salon and the space ahead, on the bow, becomes its private terrace.

On the unit we tested, that space was accessible through the bow door, truly enjoyable in feel and size, and impressive, especially when compared to the similar space on regular mono-hull sailing yachts.

80 Sunreef Power layout

Below deck, the unit we tested has four cabins, but the builder offers several layouts, with up to six guest cabins and crew cabins. The choice obviously depends on future usage of the yacht, either for charter or for private purposes.

In comparison to her sailing sister ship Sunreef 80 , the 80 Power has a teak deck – and what a difference does teak make. Very large and completely covered in teak panels, the aft deck is luxurious, almost too big, and perfect for intimate moments.

Furnished with plush sofas, with a large sunbed and still somehow large enough for a dance party – which Sunreef even states in their video introduction of the model – this is the most delightful part of the model. Equally appealing, even if different in feel and look, is the upper deck.

Catamaran with ‘backyard’ feeling

The American owner of the unit we tested opted for the ‘backyard’ feeling, with a large round jet pool and a bar with four bar stools – pure hedonism. In addition to that, there’s enough space for a sunbed, two smaller dining tables, two command posts and an element with a sink.

This entire space is covered by a hard top that opens in the middle, allowing the eye to roam across the starry sky – and is still spacious enough for several people to just mingle, despite all the amenities. Size really does matter, Sunreef have once again proven. This model has so much space to offer that most competitors must feel powerless looking at it (no pun intended!), and it can all be customized in function, look and feel.

80 Sunreef Power reaches 24 knots of maximum speed

Not to fast, but not slow wither, 80 Sunreef Power can be powered by engines ranging from 575 to 1.200-hp, and reaches 24 knots of maximum speed, standard for multi-hulls this size.

Comfortable, stable and ready to take you on long trips without having to dock in crowded marinas , luxury catamaran 80 Sunreef Power is most interesting to those who wish to get away, or those whose active sailing days are behind them, but still wish to spend time at sea.

Excellent layout and plenty of outdoor spaces that allow the user continuous contact with the nature make this model a lovely companion for your next calm, relaxing yachting adventure.

Easily accessed from the saloon, the yacht’s full-beam bow terrace is a vast, soothing retreat with amazing amounts of space for sunning and lounging. The 80 Sunreef Power’s immense flybridge offers enough breadth to house a spa pool, a wet bar and generous seating all around.

One of the most spectacular features on board the 80ft yacht is the master suite which can be set up in the bow section of the main deck. With a double bed facing the bow terrace, a bathroom with a walk-in shower, dressing and desk, the suite is bathed in sun from the skylight glazing. The same space can also be used to install a large lounge with ample seating and access to the foredeck.

The main saloon opens wide onto the aft cockpit to combine the electric power catamaran ’s dining space with the outdoor relaxation areas, where more seating is available along with a wet bar. The fully customizable saloon can also accommodate a large galley, depending on the layout selected and houses an elevated interior navigation station.

The immense volumes in the hulls of the luxury catamaran give plenty of room to tailor every unit’s layout to the most specific requirements. The crew quarters along with the galley and crew mess can be accessed directly from the aft cockpit for more privacy on board. Multiple layout configurations are available to set up luxurious guest cabins for a supreme level of comfort on board.

Rafa Nadal has ordered received hull four of the 80 Sunreef Power (hull one pictured)

One of the world’s best-known sportsmen since winning his first Grand Slam as a teenager, Nadal has lived his whole life in Mallorca. And as a native of the stunning Balearic Islands off the coast of mainland Spain, the tennis superstar has long enjoyed yachting as a calming retreat from his arduous training regime.

Yet when the Spaniard sought to trade up his MCY 76 and buy a larger boat, he signed up to buy hull four of Sunreef’s current flagship motor yacht long before the first unit had even launched.

Francis Lapp, founder and President of Sunreef, recalls: “In 2017, he visited our booth at the Cannes Yachting Festival and stayed one or two hours. In 2018, when we were showing the 80 sailing cat, he visited our stand for three days! We explained the 80 powercat would offer similar space with a little more beam, and we made the deal.”

In fact, Nadal – like us – only saw an 80 Sunreef Power for the first time when the model premiered at last year’s Cannes Yachting Festival.

NEW POWER RANGE

Aria , the first hull, was unveiled at Cannes one year after the Sunreef 80 sailing catamaran had her debut at the same show.

The Sunreef 80 is the biggest model in the builder’s new range of sailing catamarans, which also prompted a new range of powercats, according to Lapp.

“We received fantastic feedback from our sailing yacht clients, but we quickly witnessed new demand for motor yacht options,” says Lapp, who founded the company in Gdansk in 2002.

Although appearing a year after the 80ft sailing version, the 80 Power is actually an evolution of two previous Sunreef powercats: the 70 Power launched in 2008 and the 60 Power from 2012.

The success of the models, which sold 17 units in total, prompted Lapp to think bigger still, an idea that was realised after the evolution of the new sailing range.

“We took all the knowledge of the 70 and 60 motor yachts, then applied it to the 80 Power and a new generation of motor yachts,” Lapp said.

Despite sharing a model name with the company’s flagship sailing catamaran, the 80 Power was designed from scratch, with a completely new hull.

The hull is 23.95m (78ft 7in) in length, so 40cm shorter than its ‘80’ sailing counterpart, yet it’s also 50cm wider, with a 12m beam that’s significantly wider than other powercats in its sector.

“We don’t just take the mast off a sailing cat and say, ‘There’s a powercat’. The hulls are completely different,” Lapp emphasises.

“We work on a motor yacht hull from scratch. The sailing yacht has a more banana-shaped hull, whereas the motor yacht has a flatter structure. Hull shapes are very important to us.”

LEADER OF THE PACK

As seen on Aria , the 80 Power’s hull has a bold, contemporary style and high bulwarks.

Aria is fitted with teak decks, while the interiors and décor were customised to the tastes of her owner, whose brief was for a Miami high-rise style décor that offered both comfort and privacy.

A huge covered cockpit welcomes guests and has a wide sofa, a dining table and four aft-facing chairs. Doors open fully to an enormous saloon with large windows on all three sides.

Portside is a large L-shaped sofa, coffee table and chairs, while there’s a long dining table to starboard, with seating provided by a large sofa on the far side and a row of chairs. Forward is a bar and a helm station, which sit either side of a central door to the enormous foredeck.

However, the saloon and pretty much all on-board spaces can be customised. The saloon, for example, can accommodate a large galley on either side or forward, while the forward area can even be used for a master suite, with a double bed facing the bow terrace.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS

The foredeck is one of the show’s signature spaces, a vast area with an L-shaped sofa and a coffee table on either side, and an almost full- beam row of sunpads in front.

On the upper deck, the immense flybridge can also be customised. On Aria , there’s another vast expanse of sunpads at the back, although the centrepiece of the aft area is a round spa pool surrounded by a great semi-circular bar with four fixed bar stools offering great views.

On each side further forward, there’s a corner sofa, coffee table and helm station – so, three in total – while the centre of the flybridge has been left clear like a dancefloor, indicating that this could be a great party boat.

In fact, both the flybridge and aft cockpit have been equipped with lavishly sophisticated home entertainment systems.

However, the real party piece on Aria is the jetski garage, which sits under the aft cockpit sofa on the main deck.

The entire sofa can be pivoted upwards and aft, allowing someone to sit on the jetski before the central platform descends directly into the water and off you jet!

Behind the cockpit, an aft platform lifts up and down between the two stairways and can also be used to carry a tender or other water toys.

MULTIPLE CABIN LAYOUTS

There’s enormous flexibility in the cabin arrangement. Aria features an aft master cabin and a guest cabin in the starboard hull, while the port hull houses a VIP cabin forward, a crew cabin and galley aft.

The crew quarters, along with the galley and crew mess, can only be accessed from the aft cockpit, allowing both crew and guests privacy. There’s also a small crew cabin in the starboard forepeak.

Multiple layout configurations are available for crew and guest cabins, and the immense volumes in the hulls of the 80 Sunreef Power give plenty of room to tailor a layout to very specific requirements.

Sunreef has a strong tradition of creating bespoke layouts and décor on its yachts, and that offer is enlarged on the 80 Power due to its enormous size.

Nadal’s customisations, for example, include a private drop-down balcony in the master cabin.

“When it comes to onboard customisation, the options are limitless,” Lapp says. “I am really happy when the client wants to change the layout and design because I don’t want to make two boats that look and feel the same

“In fact, I’m almost disappointed if a customer is happy with our default design layout and décor, although many are,” he adds with a chuckle.

The design of this 78-footer is a milestone for the company and another example of the growing appetite for large powercats, a niche sector until recent years.

Yet Sunreef is already working on a 100 Power, a 110 Power and a fully customised 49m (161ft) motor yacht, more than double the length of the 80.

For now, the 80 Power is Sunreef’s flagship motor yacht and has a new owner in Mallorca who’s set to draw further attention to the Polish builder’s pioneering powercats.
