Landyachtz Longboards 2014

Landyacthz has a vast line of boards ranging from rigid downhill performance boards to small, fun cruiser boards. Started back in 1997 by two friends from the Northshore of Vancouver, their goal has always been to make the best boards on the market with innovative design and durability. We can confidently say they are succeeding at this goal. Skater owned and operated to this day, Landyachtz is producing some of the best longboards on the market. Check out a this list of some of our favorites from the 2014 Landyachtz Longboard Lineup.

Landyachtz Battle Axe

Available in both 35″ and 40″ sizes, the bamboo beauty that is the Landyacthz Battle Axe is a carving and cruising dream come true. With a drop through mount to keep you riding a little lower, this board will push and pull through turns smoother than you can imagine. The wide body shape helps with stability and the slight W concave will keep you locked into place for turns and higher speeds. It also helps that this board is quite aesthetically pleasing.

Landyachtz Pinner

With a classic bamboo look and snappy fiberglass construction, the Landyacthz Pinner is a lightweight and super fun carving machine. This board has great flex, making it comfortable to ride and easy to pump and carve your way thru your local streets. A very slight W concave helps add stability without feeling too aggressive and the Bear Trucks offer great responsiveness and control. Landyachtz gives this board and 8 of of 10 on the flexy scale so it’s not ideal for fast downhill but perfect for carving and cruising. Roll up this pinner and hit those streets!

Landyachtz Dropcarve

One of our favorite boards in the lineup and perfect for carving your local streets and hills is the Landyachtz Dropcarve . Available in both 37″ and 40″ sizes, this playful little drop through deck has great flex and cut out wheel wells so you will have no fear of wheel bite no matter how brutal your turns are. With a nice wide body and variable concave, this board is super stable, low to the ground and extremely comfortable/easy to ride. A beginner can jump on this board and feel super comfortable while a more experienced rider can rip this board and really enjoy the shape and flex.

Landyachtz Evo

With the title of one of the most iconic downhill boards of all time, the Landyachtz Evo is a force to be reckon with. This super stiff and super stable ride has a drop down profile and high concave to keep your feet locked in at the highest speeds. The wheel wells are cut out for limitless wheel size options and the blunted nose and tail cut down swing weigh. For the highest speeds and toughest terrain, the Landyachtz Evo is the only way to go.

Landyachtz Switchblade

One of Landyachtz most popular downhill / free ride machines is the one and only Switchblade . Available in a slew of different sizes and colors, the Switchblade is extra stiff and has a very pronounced W concave that locks your feet down for a very stable ride. Drop through trucks keep you sitting nice and low, giving the rider a lower center of gravity for better balance and stability. Also equipped with gas pedals at the nose and tail so you can push confidently into your turns while the heavy grit grip tape keep your feet in their place.

Are there hills in space? If there are , somebody up there probably has the Landyachtz 9 two 5 board. This mean whip is completely symmetrical so you can ride it any way you want, has a medium concave, slight rocker and some serious gas pedals at the nose and tail. The sidewalls are gripped in key positioning areas to help you add more power and control while initiating slides. If you are looking for ultimate stability for free riding and fast down hills speeds, then you may be interested in the magical space machine that is the 9 two 5.

Landyachtz Dinghy

The most fun you can have on land comes from the Landyachtz Dinghy . This little street friendly cruiser has an old school shape with small, soft cruiser wheels and the perfect amount of nose and tail kick. Just under 29″ and 8″ wide, the size makes this board the perfect compact shred machine. Cruising the boardwalk or ripping through the city streets, hop on board your Dinghy and set sail.

Landyachtz Stout

The Landyacthz Stout is a perfectly mean little cruiser that can tear through turns and ollie off curbs with the best of them. At 36″, this board is not too short and definitely not too long making it great for maneuvering thru your city or cruising your local beach. The exposed bamboo top sheet looks great and while the very slight flex offers a comfortable ride. The wheel wells are flared out so no need to worry about wheel bite. Just drink in this tasty Stout and enjoy the ride!

Landyachtz Fiberglass Totem

The most classic of all the cruiser shapes is a clean pintail and that’s exactly what you get with the Landyacthz Fiberglass Totem . Much more flexible than the bamboo Totem, the fiberglass option has a little spring to it making it perfect for getting around town, hitting bumps, rocks and cracks in the sidewalk. At 41″ long, the Totem is a perfect length. It’s short enough to lug around if you have to jump on the train or bus, but long enough to be a super comfortable cruiser. The Totem also has a very slight W concave, offering great arch support and excellent comfort for carving and zipping through turns.

Behind the Brand: Landyachtz

For countless skaters, the simple act of seeing someone riding past them one day has been enough to spark their imagination and inspire them to get on a board themselves and begin a lifetimes of side stance action.

Especially for  Landyachtz Co-Founders, Thomas Edstrand and Michael Perreten. Check out how the pair created one of the biggest brands in the history of longboarding in this Behind the Brand .

For countless skaters, the simple act of seeing someone riding past them one day has been enough to spark their imagination and inspire them to get on a board themselves and begin a lifetimes of side stance action. In the case of Thomas Edstrand, this common occurrence follows a similar trajectory. Except when Edstrand came across Michael Perreten on the University of Victoria campus, the two would transform their ensuing conversation over Perreten’s food coloring-stained, maple and fiberglass-wrapped deck, into a pursuit to start Landyachtz in the basement of a ski cabin in Whistler, British Columbia.

With a backdrop of steep, hilly terrain, the pair began one of the biggest companies in longboarding history with an idealistic goal: creating boards that were strong and technically advanced, in hopes of making it to the bottoms of their local hills in one piece. To conquer the challenge, Perreten assumed the role of shape design and construction while Edstrand took over the art and graphic design end of the operation.

Perhaps most central to the history of Landyachtz is the success they had in drop mounting construction before anyone else in the industry caught on. From the initial release of the Landyachtz DH Race board, the team crafted one of the first boards where the baseplate of the trucks sat mounted atop the deck while the truck’s hangar dropped through the deck, keeping the trucks as close to the ground. In time, the boys followed up with the Landyachtz Evo as the first production drop foot platform, providing unparalleled advantages in the downhill racing world and essentially changing the game. The Evo’s design came complete with an upturned nose for responsiveness in the front of the board while a detuned tail in back of the board provided stability and created the ability to tuck fast, handle corners and drift into speed checks.

In another sense, Landyachtz gained notoriety for their superior competence in using carbon fiber in their builds. Used to provide the durability and stiffness to fly down the sketchiest of mountain hills, the incorporation of carbon fiber also made for boards that were heavy enough to withstand the style of riding they became synonymous with. In the same sense, they were able to take the carbon fiber and infuse it in their trucks and boards designed for other disciplines.

Though Landyachtz has their roots in fast, speed-handling downhill boards, they have made significant contributions across other disciplines of skateboarding by taking their technical strengths and incorporating them into their diverse lineup of cruiser boards. In specific example, the Landyachtz Dinghy has benefitted from years of R&D in the way it has been refined over the years.

Unlike other similarly styled cruisers that have typically been produced with generic molds, these boards received their own specific molds over the years and have had the benefit of meticulous attention to detail throughout their design process. Combined with strength-engineered trucks, freeride-inspired, stoneground finish wheels and bearings with built in spacers, the Dinghy stands as a solid example of Landyachtz’s aptitude in downhill applied to other boards across the spectrum. 

Of course, another key behind the success of Landyachtz is the exemplary riding showcased by their team members. From the all terrain ripping of guys like Billy “Bones” Meiners to the outspoken enthusiasm of scene supporters like Bricin “Striker” Lyons , the Landyachtz team provides the perfect examples of how to get down on their boards and have fun doing it. Often, team riders have started there relationship with the brand as local allies who grow their skills and interactions with the brand in tandem. While strong riding is an obvious pillar of the team, the Landyachtz squad is more accurately measured by their personality and contributions beyond skill level. Those who have meshed well with other team riders and aligned with the brand vision have been able to notch a spot on the coveted lineup and enjoy that perks that come with it. 

This architecture deserves appreciation but Cassandre Lemoine's no complys are even more impressive. 

However, Landyachtz supports more than just the team that keeps their boards in the streets. Over the years they have placed a special emphasis on supporting events and humanitarian causes, both locally and internationally. In their homeland of Canada, their continued efforts in keeping the well-attended, Attack of Danger Bay alive have helped it become one of the longest running downhill skate events in the world. Likewise, their involvement in events like the Toronto Board Meeting and various college tours helps maintain a presence in general industry events and beyond.

Away from home, Landyachtz has remained supportive of important environmental initiatives as well, most notably including their One Board, One Tree campaign . With this initiative, the company funds the planting of one Canadian maple tree for every board they sell as a way to directly give back to the hands that feed the business. Under the notion that planting one tree can in turn provide enough wood for up to 60 skateboards, they have worked with a handful of different organizations that have been responsible for planting over 120 thousand trees so far.

With one of the most storied pasts in longboarding, there’s no doubt that Landyachtz will continue to build on their established position in the industry with new product offerings and initiatives to help support the industry. As is typical, their new boards will go through a two year cycle that includes development and release of an original graphic, followed by a year of letting the boards out in the market and adding a graphic revision. Then, when the time is right, additions to the line will be made and the cycle will reset. With some of the most commercially successful boards of all time having been released under the Landyachtz umbrella, it’s anyone’s guess as to which of their upcoming releases will be the next to go down in the history books.

Here is a breakdown of Thursday night's RNC speakers per time slot, according to a source familiar with the event

What time will Former President Donald Trump speak at the RNC?

The former president and 2024 Republican presidential nominee is expected to give a speech on Thursday night between 9-10:30 p.m. CT.

According to the Washington Examiner, he was originally going to present his speech in a fiery tone, similar to those delivered at campaign rallies, but after Saturday's assassination attempt, he said he would focus on national unity, stating it's a “chance to bring the whole country, even the whole world, together."

The theme is "Make America Great Once Again."

The RNC will livestream events across multiple online platforms.

Each television network will handle coverage slightly differently. Here's a breakdown of the major networks and their coverage plans for the RNC:

• C-SPAN  will carry the entire convention uninterrupted for all four days.
• CBS  television stations will have live coverage starting at 10 p.m. ET all four days.
• NBC News  will broadcast "Decision 2024" from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
• ABC News  will have live coverage from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. all four days on its main broadcast network, hosted by David Muir.
• Fox News  will air coverage during its regular prime-time lineup of shows, and will broadcast a nightly one-hour special starting at 10 p.m., hosted by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.
• CNN  will have a combination of coverage and analysis each night from 8 p.m. to midnight, anchored by Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper.
• MSNBC  will have coverage from 8 p.m. to midnight.
• NewsNation  will provide primetime coverage titled "Decision Desk 2024: The Republican National Convention" from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET on Wednesday and Thursday, co-anchored by Chris Cuomo, Elizabeth Vargas and Dan Abrams, along with Leland Vittert, who will anchor coverage live from the convention.

At 28.5″ long and 8″ wide, it’s an agile city cruiser that can go where many boards can’t. The Classic Dinghy is pressed with 7 plies of Canadian maple for a light, stiff and poppy ride. It comes set up with Polar Bear 105mm trucks for maximum agility and a super-tight turning circle. 63mm Fatty Hawgs finish off the setup and ensure you’ll have an extra fast, smooth ride over all types of terrain.

Ideal for the mini cruiser that every skater needs in their quiver. The 105mm Polar Bears are strong, agile, and ready to grip the tightest turns. Sold in pairs. The harder the bushings, the more stable the ride but that results in less agility – our Dinghy, for example, comes with 88a bushings.

 Spaceballs are our answer to all of your bearing problems.  Never again can you lose your washers, or spacers because we’ve built them into the inner race!  On the functional side, this means your bearings are always mated correctly which negates any bearing-induced chatter. 

Orders are currently leaving our warehouses within 1 – 3 business days. For us, “business days” means Monday – Friday as we do not ship orders on weekends. From Monday to Friday our hours of operation are 9am – 5pm PST, excluding statutory holidays. The more we know, the easier it is to help your claim!  The best way to submit your warranty claim is using the form below .   There you can provide all of the necessary information and images we require to assess  your warrant y  claim. Before completing the form please ensure you have photos that show the top and bottom of the board as well as detailed pictures of the affected area.

Please allow us 3-7 business days for us to asses your warranty claim and get in contact with you. We will do our best to make sure you’re back on a quality skateboard as soon as possible.

The   following issues are not covered by our warranty:

• Impact damage, including snaps and cracks
• Run over by a vehicle (or horse)
• Scratches or minor chips
• Water damage

Perfect for cruising around and commuting places. the bearings may be stiff at first but they are buttery smooth once you ride around enough. the graphic is just like the picture, the trucks are very sturdy and the wheels can ride through 95% of what you’ll encounter when out and about. can’t recommend enough for the price and quality

Dinghy Blunt - UV Sun

I just started getting into skating this month (june 2024) and i have been loving the new ride so far. The over all shape and graphics of the shape 9 board is comfortable and amazing to look at and ride. Standing on it and zipping around the trails with the 105mm polor bear truck is a learning curve but not to bad and keeps me motivated to get out and ride. Over all a great cruising and starter board for me with lots of zip for trails and being able to navigate quickly when need.

6ft tall. 195lbs. Size 12 shoe. Love the board size and I put the big Plow Kings on, no wheelbite so far. My blunt reaper came with spacers installed and little fatties. Really love the ride with the big PK wheels!

We’ve categorized the stiffness of our boards into 3 main groups, listed below.  The general rule is the faster you’re skating, the stiffer the deck, but this is not universal.

Flexy – Soft and supple flex profile best suited for carving and cruising on longer boards. The bouncy nature of these decks lets you turn deeper and surf your surrounds.

Medium – The do it all of our boards, a perfect balance of stability and carve. 

Stiff – From cruisers to downhill boards a stiff flex profile excels in stability and responsiveness.  Whether you’re dipping into driveways or bombing a mountain pass you’ll be down with the stiffness.

The 2024 DNC will be held in Chicago. It's the first time the convention will be held there since 1996, when former President Bill Clinton was nominated for his second term.

What happens at the DNC?

Delegates for the Democratic Party will travel to the DNC where they will express support for the party's nominee.

Democrats could end up choosing their nominee before the convention. Prior to Biden's announcement, the DNC had decided to confirm their nominee during a virtual roll call sometime before Aug. 7 to satisfy ballot deadlines in several states. 

DNC members are set to meet Wednesday to discuss the next steps in the nomination process.

Who could become the nominee?

Biden's announcement to drop out took place  just over 100 days out  from the Nov. 5 election, when he planned to take on Trump .

The president officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the next Democratic nominee.

The campaign formerly known as Biden for President, in a filing Sunday afternoon with the Federal Election Commission, changed its name to the Harris for President campaign.

That makes Harris’ bid for the Democratic nomination official, with her campaign assuming control of Biden’s campaign money. It also allows Harris to begin raising money for her own presidential bid.

In a statement the same day Biden made his historic announcement, former President Barack Obama praised Biden’s decision to end his campaign, saying he selflessly put America's interests ahead of his own. Obama’s statement made no mention of Harris, who is considered the frontrunner to replace Biden on the ticket.

Shortly after Biden announced he was withdrawing from the presidential race, in a phone interview with CNN , Trump said he expects to run against Harris , and predicted he would win.

Who are the other options?

In addition to Harris, California Gov. Gavin Newsom , Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg have all also been floated as possible replacements. All have been Biden supporters and campaign surrogates who were working to help get him reelected.

Marianne Williamson is technically still in the race after unsuspending her campaign in late February. However, she has received zero delegates . Rep. Dean Phillips (D- MN) dropped out after Super Tuesday, receiving four delegates overall.
