The Best Tenders for Yachts in 2024
Tenders in a nutshell
A tender is a boat that services a larger vessel (referred to as the mothership ). It can take many forms and deliver a wide range of conveniences.
Historically called ‘ship’s boats, ‘ tenders have supported large vessels for centuries. They have been used for guest transfers, refuge boats, landing crafts, stowed on deck or towed astern—little has changed!
Whilst the vast majority of tenders employed by smaller yachts are typically rigid inflatable boats, the modern-day superyacht considers a multitude of vessels indispensable.
Hull categories
We’ve been specialising in building boat tenders for over a decade, yet with such a degree of cross-over and with a seemingly endless request for custom configurations, categorising tenders remains a challenge.
Nonetheless, at the top-most level, we categorise all tenders under one of the following three hull types:
Fully Inflatable A lightweight vessel relying solely on inflation for buoyancy.
Rigid Inflatable A vessel with a hull constructed from rigid materials such as aluminium or fibreglass, supported with an inflatable or foam collar for added buoyancy in high seas.
Rigid A fully rigid hull without a buoyancy collar of any type.
Tender sub-categories
In addition to hull type, we can identify most yacht tenders under the following sub-categories:
⌾ Open ⌾ Chase ⌾ Classic ⌾ Foil ⌾ Catamaran ⌾ Dive
What is an open tender?
An open tender is principally a single-deck boat with no enclosed cabin. Chiefly a guest transfer boat with ample seating both forward and aft, open tenders are day boats without accommodation above or below deck.
While we see many open tenders dedicated to guest transfers, by their very nature, they can also incorporate centre console boats, some dive boats, landing crafts, and even limousines.
What is a chase tender?
As the name suggests, a chase tender—which can also be an open tender—follows the mothership.
Chase boats can take on many guises since their main attribute is size. As a result, they are generally not stored on board but instead towed astern.
Often very angular in design, with excellent seaworthiness, chase boats need to be able to withstand the rigours of being towed by the mothership. Whilst a lot of large chase tenders can be operated entirely independently, towing very long distances (such as transatlantic) is not advised.
What is a classic tender?
Tenders with the hallmark of classic design are styled with an exquisite, continuous line from the head to the heel.
Echoing the lacquered freeboards of a Riva Ariston or the flawless veneers of a Hinckley picnic boat, a modern classic from the likes of J Craft or Wajer will feature a gracefully tapered form, avoiding right angles altogether.
What is a foiling tender?
Combining thrust with lift (as an aeroplane does), high-speed tenders have the opportunity also to become airborne.
Less drag, higher speeds and lower energy consumption are the key advantages, although from a guest comfort perspective, being elevated above a big swell scores very highly.
What is a catamaran tender?
Largely associated with utility boats, catamaran tenders (not to be confused with catamaran sailboats) present superyacht owners with a number of major advantages over their mono-hulled counterparts.
Favoured as a utility vessel, a twin-hulled catamaran can be built much wider than an equivalent-length vessel with a mono hull. It offers increased stability and, therefore, a more comfortable ride in bigger seas. Thanks to a smaller surface area, there’s also less drag, which results in faster speeds and higher efficiency.
What is a dive tender?
We build tenders optimised specifically for scuba diving, however, given the range of crossover in the market, the likes of amphibious boats, beachlanders, some centre consoles, landing crafts, open tenders, RIBs and utility boats can also work perfectly well for diving.
Storage, floor space and, most importantly, the convenience of easy access to the water are key attributes of a versatile dive boat tender.
The right tender for the job
So far we’ve categorised our tenders — now to define which tender is best suited to which scenario.
Amphibious Tender
✓ Rigid ✓ Rigid Inflatable ✓ Open ✓ Chase ✓ Tow or stow
Sharp stones, steep drop-offs, inclement weather, and changing tides needn’t worry your crew when you have the luxury of an amphibious tender. Visit almost any secluded cove or spit with virtually no risk of becoming stranded or beached.
Go where other boats simply wouldn’t dare, landing on shorelines in rough breaks and on rugged terrain. Be sure to do your homework, though, as most beaches and marinas will require permission to stroll out the sea on an amphibious tender.
Beachlander Tender
We are all about time spent on the water, but the sensation of stepping off a tender onto the warm sand is in itself a joy to behold. We don’t mean clambering over the side of a rib and bouncing awkwardly into the shallows. We mean stepping from a dry boat onto dry sand.
Whether you intend to spend the day in your swimmers or are off for an island excursion, getting wet feet before you begin should be a choice.
We offer a beachlander option on all of our aluminium rigid inflatable boats .
Classic Daysailer
✓ Rigid ✓ Open ✓ Classic ✓ Stow
Strip back the layers of modernity that clothe large motor yachts and delve into a tactile sailing experience with a classic daysailer. Built a short distance upriver from SYTT, the Spirit R30 is a daysailer that marries cinematic elegance with unparalleled craftsmanship. Born from the same yard that graced the silver screen in iconic Bond films such as Casino Royale and No Time To Die , this 9.2m yacht epitomises timelessness with its exquisite wooden construction. Small sailing boats like the R30 can be de-rigged and stowed, nestled within a yacht’s garage or gracefully perched on deck.
Center Console
✓ Rigid ✓ Open ✓ Chase ✓ Tow or stow
Synonymous with the Florida Keys, the traditional centre console (or center console in the US), is typically a single-deck boat with the helm in the middle.
Geared towards recreational fishing, the centre console maximises the floor space while, crucially, allowing for full access around all sides of the boat. On smaller boats, seating is often sacrificed for floor space, while larger centre consoles fitted with cabins creep into the Sports Fisher sector.
Not intended to be an especially dry boat, both crew and guests are often exposed to the elements. The upshot is that centre consoles and, more so, sports fishers, tend to offer huge power, which is especially useful for long day trips from the mainland.
High-performance
‘Go-fast’ boats, as the name suggests, are built exclusively for speed. More commonly known as ‘cigarette boats’ due to their shape, go-fast boats are not for the faint-hearted.
A craze immortalised by the Cigarette Racing Team, modern-day cigar boats can achieve speeds of over 100 knots. Largely impractical as a conventional superyacht tender, the range of high-performance boats have thankfully branched more into Centre Consoles. In turn, this presents superyacht owners with a high-performance chase boat of an almost unimaginable spec.
Landing Craft
✓ Rigid ✓ Rigid Inflatable ✓ Inflatable ✓ Open ✓ Chase ✓ Catamaran ✓ Dive ✓ Tow or stow
A vessel with a very military feel, a landing craft tender is designed to carry everything, including vehicles, from yacht to shore.
With our ROAM Landing Craft, a button-operated super-strength bow ramp enables drive-on, drive-off capabilities, ideal for disembarking heavy items where lifting facilities are not available at shore.
Our landing crafts are built with a catamaran hull for enhanced stability. We also manufacture high-quality fold-up motorised boats.
Limousine Tender
✓ Rigid ✓ Open ✓ Classic ✓ Foil ✓ Stow
Surely the ultimate statement of sophistication — the limousine tender is the pinnacle mode of guest transfer.
A range of 6-14m and accommodating up to eighteen guests in consummate luxury, a fully enclosed guest cabin will often mirror the furnishings of the mothership.
Picnic Boat
✓ Rigid ✓ Chase ✓ Classic ✓ Stow
If leisure cruising and lunching were your only pursuit, you’d surely have a picnic boat. The quintessential day cruiser, a picnic boat is unequivocally designed for rest and relaxation on the water.
Inspired by the lobster boats of Maine, where the sloping rails from bow to stern made it easier for lobstermen to haul in their traps, the symbolic Picnic Boat represents everything exciting and romantic about a day out on the water.
Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB)
✓ Rigid Inflatable ✓ Open ✓ Dive ✓ Tow or stow
The workhorse tender of any yacht is the Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB). Robust, versatile, and highly manoeuvrable, RIBs typically offer speed, buoyancy, and good handling on high seas.
A foam or inflatable collar provides extra buoyancy in the event of taking on water, while in the case of RIB boats —which have a high deadrise—also acts as a spray rail for keeping the deck dry. Popular with superyachts, RIBs can be towed or stowed and used for a wide range of purposes.
✓ Rigid ✓ Open ✓ Dive ✓ Stow
Nothing allows us to explore an affinity with water quite like the experience of wakeboarding, wake surfing and water skiing.
We specialise in wake boat customisation, supplying specifically to superyachts.
SOLAS Rescue Tender
✓ Rigid Inflatable ✓ Inflatable ✓ Stow
In accordance with the International Convention for Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), all ships over 500GT (typically 50m+) must carry at least one fully compliant SOLAS Rescue Vessel (and a complement of life rafts). The rescue vessel must be stowed onboard and cannot be towed astern or located on a support vessel.
SOLAS Rescue Vessels must be able to carry five seated persons and a person lying on a stretcher. They must also have an automatic self-righting capability and the engine must be restartable following a capsize. Stable in a seaway (and deployable when the mothership is doing 5 knots), rescue boats may be either rigid or inflated and need to be operable in water that is 1-30°C. They also need to be able to start in -30°C air temperature.
First adopted in 1914, the SOLAS Convention was initiated as a direct response to the Titanic disaster. The Convention in use today is often referred to as the “SOLAS, 1974, as amended”.
For any help and advice relating to SOLAS requirements, contact our team who have a depth of knowledge on the subject.
SOLAS Lifeboats
✓ Rigid ✓ Stow Unlike a SOLAS Rescue Vessel that can be inflatable or rigid hull, a lifeboat must have the latter.
Painted bright orange—or Pantone 144—a lifeboat can have a LOA no less than 7.3m.
Sports Fisher
✓ Rigid ✓ Tow
A close relative of both the Central Console and High-performance categories, a Sports Fisher is a dedicated recreational fishing boat. Despite the wide range of boats within this category, the Flybridge Sports Fisher is the most synonymous with the name.
Large boats, often up to 25m, the archetypal fisher is perfectly suited to lengthy, deep-sea fishing trips. Typically built with berths, heads, a galley and a tower (perhaps even a live bait tank, too), a Sports Fsher is for serious big game fishing enthusiasts.
It’s quite a commitment for a superyacht when a large open or utility tender with rod holders would probably be just as effective if big game fishing was less of a priority.
Utility Tender
✓ Rigid Inflatable ✓ Inflatable ✓ Open ✓ Chase ✓ Catamaran ✓ Dive ✓ Tow or stow
A utility tender is the most versatile boat on the list. Ticking almost every box, a utility boat is somewhat open to interpretation. As much an entire category as it is an individual tender, a utility boat could easily take the form of a landing craft or open RIB.
Both promote an open deck space and satisfy the needs of crew in all manner of tasks, including the general movement of equipment and vehicles, refuge and provision runs, and guest and crew transfers.

Top 10 Luxury Tenders For Superyachts
To begin with, as far as stereotypes go, the typical superyacht tender is a long, slender boat that offers a limousine-style experience. The bench seats and covered tops are designed to carry as many guests as possible while ensuring they arrive at their destinations perfectly coiffed, rather than windblown and covered in salt water. These days, the desire to personalize tenders has followed other trends in the realm of superyachts. Styles range from mini-me limousines to full-throttle sport boats, with sunbeds doubling as seats. Here are five new tenders for both traditionalists and nonconformists.
Evo T2: It is a seven-meter custom tender originally commissioned by the owner of a new 46 meter Sanlorenzo superyacht but its success has led to Evo Launches launching a new range of day boats for superyachts. The tender was designed by Valerio Rivellini, who followed the owner’s brief for a “luxurious, elegant and high-performance” tender. Key features include space and charging points for two Seabobs, a table for eight people and a towing hook for water skiing. A 300hp inboard engine provides a cruising speed of 28 knots and a top speed of 36 knots.
- Draught: 2.55,m
- Top Speed: 36 knots
- Fuel Capacity: 150 liters
- Designer: Valerio Rivellini
- Engines: 1x300hp
- Passengers: 8
48 Walytender: An evolution on the 118 Wallypower first introduced in 2002, the 48 Wallytender is the first Wally product to be revealed following the brand’s acquisition by the Ferretti Group. This standalone runabout is intended for day or overnight cruising and features general interior volumes, with an owner’s suite down below. A key exterior feature is the fold-down bulwark sections that increase the swim platform while at anchor.
- Displacement: 11,500kg
- Top speed: 38 knots
- Draught: 1.2m
- Range: 305 nautical miles at 32 knots
Sunseeker Hawk 38: This new performance day boat from Sunseeker sees the yard “return to its performance roots” and “draw on the company’s racing heritage,” the yard said. The 11.85-metre boat has been designed in collaboration with Fabio Buzzi Design and has a top speed of 62 knots thanks to twin Mercury R400 outboard engines. Described as “the ultimate superyacht chase boat”, the Hawk 38 is available in a number of paint finishes and upholstery meaning that two boats are unlikely to ever be the same.
- LOA: 11.85m
- Beam: 3.01m
- Displacement: 5,000Kg
- Top Speed: 62 knots
- Fuel Capacity: 700 litres
- Designer: Fabio Buzzi Design/ Sunseeker
- Engines: Twin Mercury R400 outboard engines
- Passengers: 7
Custom Sense Tender for Stella di Mare: The 7.5-meter custom Sense tender was designed specifically to accompany its mother ship Stella di Mare, the CBI Navi 39.67 meter superyacht delivered earlier this year. Both Stella di Mare and her Sense tender were designed by Hydro Tec. Designed with three generations in mind, the Sense tender had to be stable and comfortable for the 75-year-old owner while being speedy enough to cater to water sports, such as water skiing. Accessibility to and from the tender was key. It features opening bow access directly to the shore and aft embarkation built to the same height as the swimming platform of Stella di Mare.
- Beam: 5.95m
- Top Speed: 40 knots
- Fuel Capacity: 260 liters
- Draught: 0.57m
- Passengers: 11
Aerobat S6: At 19.83 meters LOA, the Aeroboat S6 is larger than most superyacht tenders, indeed only the world’s largest superyachts would be able to carry one on board. However, as a classy chase boat, she is a truly tempting proposition. Developed as part of a collaboration between British design studio Claydon Reeves and Rolls-Royce, the Aeroboat boasts a unique transforming transom system called Aerostairs that can lower into the water or rise up to pontoon level.
- LOA: 19.83 meters
- Beam: 4.99 meters
- Displacement: 37,000kg
- Top speed: 48 knots
- Fuel capacity: 5,750 litres
- Draught: 1.15 meters
- Air draught: 3.66 meters
- Passengers: 12
Folier: Offering the ultimate in head-turning style, the Foiler from UAE yard Enata Marine is at the forefront of a new wave of foiling superyacht tenders. Smooth cruising at speeds of up to 40 knots is offered via twin 320hp BMW hybrid engines and a retractable foiling system that lifts the hull up to 1.5 meters above the surface of the water. Guests can enjoy the thrill of rising above the waves from a pair of bowrider bucket seats, and the transparent prow makes the experience even more spectacular.
- LOA: 9.6 meters
- Beam: 3.3 meters (7.2 meters when foiling)
- Displacement: TBC
- Top speed: 40 knots
- Fuel capacity: 300 liters
- Draught: 0.6 meters (1.9 meters when foiling)
- Air draught: 2.3 meters
Mazu 38 : Turkish yard Mazu only made its debut in 2016, but it has made a big impression in the months and years since, with its aggressive styling by Halit Yukay. Adding to its credentials as a superyacht chase boat is a completely customizable interior and deck layout, as well as a removable bimini.
- LOA: 11.9 meters
- Beam: 3.7 meters
- Displacement: 8 tonnes
- Top speed: 45 knots
- Fuel capacity: 1,000 litres
- Draught: 0.6 metres
- Air draught: 2.1 meters
- Passengers: 10
T/T Scout : This eight meter tender, instantly recognizable for her striking sunshine yellow hull, has been specifically designed by Cockwells to mimic the exterior design detailing of her mothership, the 63-metre Hakvoort explorer Scout. The convertible limousine tender can transport a total of 10 guests and two crew and has been described as a “touchscreen heaven”, with electric doors that can be tinted at the touch of a button to offer protection from the sun.
- LOA: 8 meter
- Beam: 2.53 meter
- Max speed: 37 knots
- Displacement: 3325kg
- Engines: 2 x Volvo D3 – 220 HP
Riva Aquariva Super: The queen of the dayboats, this 10-meter is a stylistic and historic evolution of the iconic Aquarama and the most covetable tender around. Left the Iseo entering j’ade.
- LOA: 8,45 meter
- Beam: 2.6 meter
- Draft: 0,9 metre
- Displacement: 2940kg
- Engines: 2 x Riva crusader-320 HP
Silver arrows Gran Tourismo: Fourteen meters of Mercedes Benz cl.ass and spirt make this one of the coolest mega tenders on the market.
- LOA: 14.17 meter

Sailing yacht KORU: What we know so far about Jeff Bezos’ 127 meter yacht

By Nina Done 15 December 2022
Recent footage showcasing the vast proportions of the Amazon founder’s new 127m (417ft) Oceanco sailing yacht KORU , known throughout her build as Project Y721, has provided some valuable insight into one of the yachting industry’s best-kept secrets.
The megayacht’s specifications and amenities had been kept completely under wraps until she was forced to move from the Dutch yard’s primary facilities in Alblasserdam to get her masts fitted elsewhere in order to avoid dismantling the Koningshaven Bridge after huge public backlash.
In August, the yacht was spotted in the Port of Rotterdam after her trio of masts had been successfully stepped, with pictures barely doing justice to the monolithic proportions of the sailing spars, reportedly up to 70-80 meters tall.
World yacht rankings
KORU will replace Oceanco’s BLACK PEARL for second place in the world's largest sailing yacht rankings behind Nobiskrug's 143m (469ft) sailing yacht A .
Oceanco's newest yacht is understood to have an internal volume of 3,300 GT and will undoubtedly offer a wealth of luxurious accommodation and amenities. Although we have scant information about the yacht's features, we do know that she will have an aft dip pool along with a further Jacuzzi on her sundeck and variety of alfresco social spaces. She also has a crow's nest attached to her central mast, offering lofty panoramic views for her more adventurous guests.
From the pictures we can see KORU also benefits from full-length windows across her superstructure allowing plenty of light to infuse her interiors.
Design inspiration
Built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure with teak decking, she reportedly takes her design cues from the 93-meter Lürssen sailing yacht EOS , perhaps inspired by the entrepreneur’s visits to this yacht in previous years.
Showcasing a midnight-blue hull with a distinctive red stripe running along her waterline, KORU’s exterior styling mirrors this traditional schooner style, with an elongated bowsprite and canoe stern. Another similar style yacht is the 90m (295ft) Royal Huisman sailing yacht ATHENA .
Kinetic energy technology
As expected from a tech entrepreneur, known for pushing boundaries and driving innovation, sailing yacht KORU will be trialing a prototype for a new kinetic energy recovery system. This is based on a conversion of wave induced motion, heave, pitch and roll into electric energy, with initial tests showing early promise.
With a nod to her green credentials, this will provide an additional power source for the yacht allowing for more sustainable cruising.
Tenders and toys
Access to sailing yacht KORU will be via folding passerelles, discreetly hidden in the yacht's hull on either side. Rescue and work tender launches will likely take place further forward, as per regulations. Recent pictures show a large hatch opening in her lower deck aft, which may contain further tenders and toys, but may also double as a beach club.
Sailing yacht KORU comes complete with a support vessel built by Damen Yachts, reportedly known as 75 meter (247ft) yacht WINGMAN .
Once delivered, it is understood that she will act as an official support boat for the sailing yacht , carrying the larger toys, including a submarine for thrilling excursions beneath the waves, plus a helicopter and landing pad. She is also believed to play host to an array of PWCs, with rumors of a speed boat and luxury car adding to the fleet, as well as providing accommodation for additional crew and staff.
When is sailing yacht KORU expected to be delivered?
From here she will undertake the all-important rounds of sea trials before being delivered to her owner sometime in the new year. It is understood that the yacht will be officially christened KORU upon delivery, and will operate under the Cayman Islands' flag. It is not believed that superyacht KORU will be available to charter.

X40T Limousine Tender
“although the parameters of tender garages offer challenges — tight clearances, load restrictions, crane pickups — we see that as a way to utilize our design and building skills. we have to make incremental adjustments everywhere to accommodate the garage plan, but without losing functionality or compromising the lines. frankly that will always be the case when building a tender for a megayacht; where and how it is stored is always critical.”.
When a boat is a limousine, it must ride comfortably and deliver its live cargo efficiently and safely ashore and then back again to its mothership. The passengers should enjoy a luxurious ride if the weather is fine or not, and observers will take notice as well.
Welcome to the X40T Limousine Tender, a unique custom 40-footer envisioned as a modern Venetian water taxi by Reliant Yachts partners Dave MacFarlane and Jim Ewing. The X40T is one of a trio of tenders for a new superyacht, and the Tender has the same clean lines and powerful hull shape as its sistership, the X40 Express. All three boats, including the surprisingly versatile X40L Lander, share a 40-foot overall length, an expanse of teak (or Flexiteek) deck, and metallic silver paint jobs accented in black.
The X40T cuts a profile much like the Express with a nearly plumb bow and subtly reversed transom over complementary stern platform. In the “cab” or main saloon, there is full standing headroom with excellent views all around, whether standing and sitting. The spacious saloon and aft cockpit is for passengers, and a forward drivers cockpit accommodates two crew, protected by a wrap-around windscreen.
Passengers board the vessel immediately aft of the forward cockpit, aided by pair of removable stanchions as they step across the deck, down a couple steps, and turn aft into the main saloon, which easily seats eight in leather-upholstered, commuter-style luxury. Passengers can access convenient wifi routers and use Apple Airplay to engage a powerful stereo system from their smartphones.
Passenger seating in the saloon has high backs and bolsters for comfort and security, with excellent 270-degree views of the surrounding scenery. When standing, passengers take a step down to the sole providing them both with headroom and equivalent visibility when moving fore and aft. Overhead, a large, clear section of the roof retracts when the weather is fair. For privacy, leather window blinds can be deployed at the press of a button.
The aft end of the saloon features a full head compartment to port and a galley and bar to starboard, plus a door to the open-air aft cockpit. Above, the cockpit can be covered by a powered awning for sun protection. Entry and exit from this cockpit is also an option. A section of the deck is removable at the stern, and removable stanchions can be place here on the side decks, as well.
The hull is built using a time-tested epoxy, cold-molded wood laminate and a super-light carbon fiber deck with a classic teak surface. The roof of the saloon is also built of carbon fiber, as are the boat’s radar mast and ensign flagstaff. Even the tissue boxes in the saloon are made of carbon. All contribute to keeping the boat as light as possible while delivering both luxury detailing and powerful systems, such as a Seakeeper3 to provide excellent stability, Side Power bow-thrusters, and an Onan generator to drive two powerful Webasto air-conditioning units for the main saloon.
The team’s success was proven in early sea trials near Istanbul in 10-knot winds and 1- to 2-foot seas. The X40T design brief was to create a 40-foot limo that ran up to 30 knots, yet wide open in early sea trials, the twin Cummins QSB 6.7 425HOI diesels and Konrad 660b Stern Drives took the boat up to 38 knots. Cruising speed was 26.2 knots at 2400 RPM. The stern drives were selected because they lift up under the stern platform, reducing draft for easier storage in the mothership’s transom garage.
RPM | 600 | 900 | 1200 | 1500 | 1800 | 2100 | 2400 | 2700 | 3000 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
SPEED | 4.4 | 7.1 | 9.0 | 9.9 | 11.8 | 16.2 | 26.2 | 31.8 | 36.5 |
FUEL RATE G/H | 0.8 | 2.9 | 5.6 | 10.3 | 15.0 | 19.6 | 25.2 | 32.6 | 41.2 |
At the helm, a pair of bright Raymarine Glass Bridge monitors (15.4 inches each) and other Raymarine electronic displays sit on a flat-black, carbon-fiber dashboard with a Yacht Controller joystick and the Seakeeper controls close by. The modern carbon look extends 270 degrees around the cockpit, against which the chrome throttles, cup holders and windshield trim sparkle while the wood-trimmed steering wheel, and teak deck outboard and on the cockpit sole speak to a timeless sensibility.
As on the other tenders, the deck has several unobtrusive Sea Smart fittings including flush deck fills, retracting deck cleats, and receptacles for stanchions, port and starboard, fore and aft, to aid passengers when boarding.
On deck and below, Reliant’s clean, almost spare aesthetic is extraordinarily consistent. The X40T Limousine Tender delivers speed and luxury far surpassing your average Venetian water taxi and is both uniquely suited to her task and closely related to her sisterships to meet a superyacht owner’s demanding requirements.
On building tenders for the superyacht market, Jim Ewing, principal at Reliant Yachts states, “Although the parameters of tender garages offer challenges — tight clearances, load restrictions, crane pickups — we see that as a way to utilize our design and building skills. We have to make incremental adjustments everywhere to accommodate the garage plan, but without losing functionality or compromising the lines. Frankly that will always be the case when building a tender for a megayacht; where and how it is stored is always critical.”

The Best Yacht Tenders: Customizing Your Yachting Adventures
Thinking of buying a tender for your yacht, or maybe going for a small and comfortable way to get around the waterways? There are a lot of tenders on the market, so how do you know which engine, style, and construction are best for you? At Argos Nautic , we're here to help yacht owners and boating enthusiasts find the luxury tender their yacht deserves. No matter what your boating needs are — transportation, cruising, fishing, watersports, etc. — we can craft the best tender on the market.
What is a Yacht Tender?
A yacht tender is more than just a small boat used to transport people and supplies to and from a yacht. Tenders can represent adventure, convenience, luxury, and fun outside of the mothership. With the right tender, you can elevate your yachting experience and enjoy more time out on the open seas.
Yacht tenders are typically designed to be lightweight, easily maneuverable, and capable of withstanding various weather conditions. They can be constructed from a variety of materials, each with its own advantages and considerations.
Yacht Tender Material
You'll find fiberglass and aluminum dinghies on the tender market, but the Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) stands out as the preferred style for many yacht owners, and for good reasons.
RIBs offer exceptional stability and buoyancy due to their deep-V hull design and inflatable tubes. They are highly maneuverable, making docking and navigating in congested areas easier. Maneuverability is specifically important when operating so close to larger vessels. Rigid hull inflatable boats are versatile, serving various purposes and providing ample space for center consoles, seating, and storage. They are durable, with materials like ORCA Hypalon 110 tubing that offers resistance to UV rays, abrasion, and punctures. The combination of a rigid hull and inflatable tubes ensures safety and makes RIBs reliable even in rough waters.
When deciding to go for a RIB instead of a fiberglass one of the most important things to consider is weight. Mounting a heavy fiberglass tender on a platform sometimes is not an option. Even better, lighter weight means better fuel efficiency, making a rigid inflatable yacht tender a clear winner.
Engines on Yacht Tenders
Of course, the engine that powers your tender makes all the difference in performance, maintenance, and versatility. Every boater is different, so the engine that works best for one might not offer the performance required by another. That's where options are important.
A reliable outboard engine is going to be the most common. Modern outboards are perfect for a tender, running smoothly, quietly, and efficiently with very low fuel consumption. Plus, they are easy to maintain and more cost-effective than alternatives.
Jet engines are taking over the tender market. A jet tender offers a personalized watercraft experience. Its balance and speed allow it to get up on the plane easily. Plus, thanks to its shallow draft and flat bottom design, a jet tender has the unique capability to access super shallow water that is inaccessible to other types of boats.
To take yacht tenders to the next level, diesel engines can power larger models and offer a truly luxurious experience. Diesel engines might come with a higher price tag, but this price is accompanied by convenience, performance, and luxury boating. Powered by a conventional diesel inboard marine engine , diesel tenders run on the same fuel as your mothership. Plus, they give you the long service life, efficiency, and reliability that diesel engines are renowned for.
The best tender engine is going to depend on your needs, preferences, and budget - which is why Argos Nautic offers all three of these quality engines.
Pairing Your Yacht With a Luxury Tender
Sure, you can buy any old dinghy on the market, throw it next to your big boat and call it a day, but you and your yacht both deserve better. Better style, better performance, and most importantly, customization. A luxury yacht tender means one-of-one, expertly crafted, and designed to complement your yacht. At Argos Nautic, we can custom design every tender to match or complement the upholstery, paint colors, and any other detail that makes your yacht the best.
The Best Tenders Offer It All
Sure, tenders are made to transport you to and from your vessel, but it surely doesn't have to stop there. When searching for the best tender, versatility is key. A versatile yacht tender offers a wide range of use cases, making it a valuable, more enjoyable asset for yacht owners and boat lovers.
Of course, it serves as a reliable means of transportation, shuttling passengers and supplies between the yacht and the shore. But, its maneuverability and performance allow for the exploration of coastlines, coves, and islands, providing opportunities for sightseeing and discovery. Equipped with water sports gear, the tender becomes a thrilling platform for activities like wakeboarding, water skiing, and tubing. For fishing enthusiasts, it offers access to shallow fishing spots and secluded grounds. Diving and snorkeling trips are made convenient with a tender, facilitating transport to dive sites and exploration of coral reefs. It is also perfect for beach exploration, island picnics, and providing emergency assistance or rescue operations. With a versatile yacht tender, the world is your oyster.

With its jet propulsion system, this series offers exceptional maneuverability, allowing for precise handling and agile navigation in tight spaces and congested areas. Both tender models use a shallow draft, granting access to shallow waters and secluded locations that may be unreachable by other tender types. While tenders are used for a wide variety of transportation tasks, one of the most important features of a tender is the ability to move passengers to and from the beach. Delivering a group of excited guests to a beach picnic, exploring a remote stretch of shoreline or simply loading up passengers & gear from wherever you need to be, nothing gives you the unrestricted access of a Munson Yacht Tender.

The 25 Largest Yachts in the World
The list runs from lürssen's 592-foot 'azzam' to fincantieri 439-foot 'serene,' with a fascinating group of bespoke vessels in between..
The new arrivals in 2024 knock the mighty 436.4-foot Al Mirqab and Koru , Jeff Bezos’s sailing yacht, off the list. The “smallest” yacht— Serene —measures a whopping 439.3 feet. A raft of behemoths didn’t make it, including Feadship’s 290-foot Project 821 that is launching this year, the largest build from the Dutch shipyard to date.
Two of Lürssen’s 2024 deliveries also fell short, including Project Deep Blue and Project JassJ. That said, the German yard remains top of the leader board with the immoveable 592.6-foot Azzam . It also claims 13 of the 25 world’s largest yachts, two of which are new entries.
The list is interesting because most were built in the last 15 years, but there are several historical yachts, including Savarona , launched in 1931, and El Mahrousa , launched in 1865, that withstand the test of time. Others like Yas and OK are conversions from other types of vessels. The inimitable A is a one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-repeated sailing superyacht.
Here are the world’s top 25 yachts by length.
Azzam | 592 feet, 6 inches
Lürssen could never really boast about Azzam after its launch in 2013 because of the owner’s penchant for privacy, though it did describe the interior by Christophe Leoni, which features a 95-foot-long main salon, as “inspired by the Empire style of the early 19th century.” Owner Mubarak Saad al Ahbabi directed a team of designers and engineers who started with the bare concept, worked through the technical challenges of what might be the most complex superyacht ever, and finished with an unusually large vessel that can top the 30-knot mark when operating in “sprint mode”. Its gas turbines, connected to water jets, also give it the ability to operate at high speed in shallow waters. Nauta Yacht’s exterior features a long, sleek forward area, with well-proportioned tiers moving up to the skydeck. It took an impressive six million man-hours—or four years including engineering—to build. Azzam accommodates up to 36 guests, and a crew of 80.
Fulk Al Salamah | 538 feet, 1 inch
Little information has been released about the world’s second-longest superyacht, the custom-built Fulk Al Salamah , and it has been shrouded in mystery since it was first announced in 2014. Even the overall length of 538.1 feet has been estimated from AIS data. However, the imposing vessel, built and delivered by Italian builder Mariotti Yachts in their Genoa shipyard in 2016, is believed to be owned by Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman. Last refit in 2021, the yacht has an exterior design by Studio de Jorio, and it is considered by some to resemble more of a support vessel than a superyacht. Nonetheless, aerial photography shows an impressively large helideck, raked masts, and a bathing platform.
Eclipse | 533 feet, 1 inch
The 533.1-foot stately Eclipse , one of two yachts on this list owned by sanctioned billionaire Roman Abramovich, took five years to design and build. When it left the Blohm+Voss shipyard in Hamburg in 2010, it was the world’s largest yacht. The interior has 17 staterooms and a palatial primary suite, with the capacity to carry 85 crew. Both the interior and exterior are designed by Terence Disdale. A proportional profile is defined by tiered decks that sweep upward and bend ever so slightly at the aft ends. Eclipse has a 185-foot-long owner’s deck, the capacity to hold three helicopters, a sophisticated stabilization system, six tenders, and an enormous spa, gym and beach club, not to mention one of the largest swimming pools on any superyacht. Hybrid diesel-electric engines are connected to Azipod drives that give Eclipse a top-end speed of 21 knots, with a range of 6,000 nautical miles.
Dubai | 531 feet, 5 inches
Even at 531.5 feet, Dubai ’s all-white Winch-designed exterior belies the dramatic and vibrant interior within. Colorful mosaic floors, a spiraling glass staircase, 70-foot-wide atrium, and bursts of red, blue, and green create a carnival of scene. Originally commissioned for Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei as a joint project between Blohm+Voss and Lürssen . Known as “Panhandle,” the project was halted in 1998 with just a bare hull and skeletal superstructure. The hull was sold to the government of Dubai, and, under the direction of the country’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, work on the 531.5-footer began again, though this time by Platinum Yachts. Dubai delivered in 2006 and is now the sheikh’s royal yacht, with accommodations for 24 guests and quarters for 88 crew. The SOLAS-certified seven-decked yacht has a landing pad for a Black Hawk helicopter, submarine garage, disco and cinema, and can reach a top speed of 26 knots. There’s also a waterfall that cascades from the yacht’s pool, located aft of the main deck. The yacht’s range of 8,500 nm at 25 knots gives it the potential to cruise around the world in record time.
Blue | 518 feet, 3 inches
Lürssen’s newest entry on the list, Blue , which delivered to its Middle Eastern owner in July 2022, may rank at number five out of the world’s largest yachts, but its diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system goes a long way to minimize emissions. The yacht also features an electric Azimuth pod drive that can be used independently or in conjunction with the twin propeller shafts. There is a waste-water treatment system and an advanced exhaust treatment system to help reduce NOx levels, as well as cut down on vibration and noise pollution. Interior and exterior design is by Terence Disdale, Blue is defined in profile by a raked bow with a helipad, an aft deck pool, and twin balconies forward either side of the owner’s full-beam suite. There is a second, smaller helipad aft. The British designer has reportedly penned a feminine and elegant interior, though no images have yet been released.
Dilbar | 511 feet, 8 inches
The 2016 launch of Dilbar gave Lürssen the distinction of not only building the longest yacht ever ( Azzam ), but also the largest in terms of volume. Espen Øino designed the exterior, creating a full-bodied superstructure of long, flowing decks, along with two helicopter pads, two helicopter pads, one of which has a hangar with an H175 helicopter always on standby. Dilbar also has an oversized garden and an 82-foot swimming pool that can hold an incredible 6,357-cubic-feet of water and according to Lürssen, is the world’s longest on a yacht. The interior by Winch Design is defined by its “rare and exclusive luxury materials,” says the builder, declining to go into detail. Despite Dilbar ’s volume, the designers did a masterful job making the yacht look relatively svelte. In June 2020, Dilbar returned to Lürssen for a significant refit, where the yacht remains following U.S. sanctions placed on the owner, Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, in 2022. The yacht’s value is estimated to be $600 million.
Al Saïd | 508 feet, 5 inches
Another 500-plus-foot yacht from Lürssen, the original Project Sunflower gained its official name of Al Saïd following its launch in 2016. Espen Øino’s exterior is akin to a classic cruise liner, complete with the twin-exhaust stacks in the center of the superstructure. Owned by the Sultan of Oman, the yacht was listed for the sale for the first time in April 2022 for an undisclosed sum, but a buyer has yet to be confirmed. The six-decked Al Saïd can carry 154 crew and an estimated 70 guests across 26 suites. Lürssen reports a top speed of 22 knots. The London-based Redman Whiteley Dixon studio designed the interior, which includes a concert hall that can hold a 50-piece orchestra, a private cinema for 50 people; you’ll also find a medical room and dental care on board.
A+ | 483 feet, 1 inch
Very little is known about A+ (formerly Topaz) , which was launched by Lürssen in 2012. Tim Heywood Designs did the exterior, which features helipads on the foredeck and amidships on an upper deck. A lower aft deck includes a swimming pool. The German yard has not released any images of the Terence Disdale interior. Reported to be owned by Manchester City Football Club owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan—Emirati royalty and deputy prime minister of the UAE— A+ is equipped with a 40-foot Vikal catamaran beachlander and is powered by six Wärtsilä engines to reach a top speed of 22 knots. It can carry 62 guests and up to 79 crew and was last refit in 2022.
Prince Abdulaziz | 482 feet, 3 inches
The 5,200-tonne Prince Abdulaziz is one of the Saudi Royal family’s yachts, its first owner being King Fahd. Designed by Maierform, the yacht was the longest and tallest in the world at the time of its launch, a title the 482.3-foot Prince Abdulaziz held for 22 years until Dubai launched in 2006. The late David Nightingale Hicks, known for his use of bright colors, was the interior designer. The lobby is said to be a replica of the Titanic . The yacht is also rumored to be carrying surface-to-air missiles, though that may be an urban legend. Launched by Helsingør Værft in Denmark in 1984, it was last refit in 2023.
OK | 479 feet
Originally built by Japan’s Oshima Shipbuilding in 1982, the semisubmersible heavy lift ship was used for decades by DYT Yacht Transport as float-on yacht carrier. In 2022, the vessel underwent a private conversion at Karmarine shipyard in Turkey, turning it into a luxury, though highly unusual, yacht named OK . Modifications include a matte-black paint job, gold-tinted glazing, and teak decking. The vessel’s 328-foot submersible aft deck—a feature that first attracted her new owner, who uses OK to transport their 150-foot ketch—is now covered in a carpet of artificial grass. A 40-tonne crane allows for the safe and easy launch and retrieval of a vast range of toys, including a seaplane. The interior by Bozca Design is reported to include accommodation for 20 guests, a botanical garden, and a crazy Willy Wonka–inspired glass elevator that operates outside of the yacht’s superstructure.
Opera | 479 feet
Very little is known about Lürssen’s mysterious superyacht Opera , though it’s thought to be a rebuild of Project Sassi, which was destroyed in a fire in 2018 at the German shipyard. Now four feet longer than the first iteration, the superyacht became the 11th largest yacht in the world when it delivered to its patient owner in 2023. Exterior and interior designed by Terence Disdale, Opera has a whopping 66-foot beam and an interior volume exceeding 10,000GT. No interior images have been released yet, though judging by its two swimming pools, one with a lifting floor, and two helipads—one on the bow and one on the upper aft deck—it seems no expense has been spared.
El Mahrousa | 478 feet, 1 inch
El Mahrousa , which means “The Protected” in Arabic, is currently Egypt’s presidential yacht, though the 478.1-footer has a separate history as that country’s royal yacht. The London-based Samuda Brothers began the build in 1863, and it was launched in 1865. The world’s oldest superyacht—and formerly the world’s biggest—was originally built for the Ottoman governor of Egypt, Khedive Ismail, and later carried three Egyptian kings into exile. The yacht was also at the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869. It features external design by the British naval architect Sir Oliver Lang and has had multiple modifications over the years, including a lengthening by 40 feet in 1872 and another 17 feet in 1905. During the second refit, the owners replaced its paddle-wheel engines with turbine-driven propellers. The yacht, in care of the Egyptian Navy, occasionally goes to sea for a day or two. In 2015, it was used to inaugurate the new Suez Canal.
Project Luminance | 475 feet, 7 inches
Delivered in 2024, Project Luminance (the real name is yet to be confirmed) is Lürssen’s newest entry on the list. Exterior designed by Espen Øino, the yacht has a raked bow, a contrasting paint job in a dark blue hull and silver superstructure and a whopping 8,999 gross tons of interior volume. Few details are yet known about the gigayacht owned by Ukrainian mining and financial services mogul Rinat Akhmetov, including the interior by Francois Zuretti, but aerial shots reveal twin helicopter pads—one on the foredeck and another high up aft—a large beach club, and an infinity pool, with a private spa pool area on the foredeck.
A | 468 feet, 5 inches
Undoubtedly one of the most visionary projects ever delivered by German shipyard Nobiskrug, the Philippe Starck-designed A is a wild fantasy of the future. Delivered in 2017, the futuristic look of sailing yacht A includes smooth, silver-metallic surfaces and windows that look nearly invisible, a 26-foot draft, three composite masts that bend slightly, and a deck hidden by high bulwarks. The Philippe Starck–design is a wild fantasy yacht of the future. The 468-foot sailing yacht is a technical victory for Nobiskrug , which developed composite fashion plates to create the unusual shapes without compromising any strength or fluidity. It has the tallest freestanding composite masts on any sailing vessel, a diesel-electric propulsion system, and state-of-the-art navigation systems. The boat also reportedly has an underwater viewing platform in the keel. Starck’s traditional interior features dark wood, copper accents, and cozy patterned carpets. The split-deck main salon is divided into zoned seating areas with integrated bookshelves. A remains today the world’s largest sailing yacht six years after its launch, though many argue it is better defined as a sail-assisted yacht.
Nord | 466 feet
Nord was announced in 2015 but didn’t hit the water until its 2020 sea trials in the Baltic Sea. The 466-foot yacht features interior design by Italian studio Nuvolari Lenard and was Lürssen’s first yacht launched from its floating shed at its facility in Vegasack. Boasting top-tier amenities, the yacht includes a sports and diving center on the lower deck, multiple tenders ranging in size up to 50 feet and a large swimming pool. The two helipads support the yacht’s long-range cruising capabilities for autonomous exploration, and a retractable hangar means a helicopter can slide neatly into the superstructure for storage when not in use. A generous 20 staterooms accommodate 36 guests across six decks, while a sleek aft-sloping superstructure gives Nord an individual profile on the water.
Yas | 462 feet, 6 inches
As a converted yacht, Yas is one of the most interesting vessels on this list. The dolphin-like exterior was originally a former Dutch Navy frigate that launched in 1978 and eventually sold to the navy of the United Arab Emirates, where it was renamed Al Emirat . The yacht underwent its dramatic conversion in a facility in Abu Dhabi’s main port, emerging as a gleaming superyacht in 2011, with one of the most interesting profiles on the water. It was eventually delivered four years later. Reportedly owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed al Nahyan, half-brother of the president of the UAE, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the design by Paris-based Pierrejean Vision is defined by massive glass surfaces. Yas can accommodate 60 guests and 58 crew members. Mated to a steel hull, the superstructure is the largest composite edifice ever built.
Solaris | 459 feet, 3 inches
Owned by Russian businessman Roman Abramovich, the 476-foot Solaris was one of the largest yachts to deliver in 2021. Last refit in 2022 at MB92 in Barcelona, the vast, highly private explorer is built by German shipyard Lloyd Werft and features a displacement steel hull with bulbous bow and steel superstructure with teak decks. The eight-deck exterior by Australian designer Marc Newson houses a large helipad, sundeck, spacious beach club aft and 21,527 square feet of glass, the largest panes to ever be built into a yacht. Lloyd Werft also built the Russian billionaire’s previous explorer yacht Luna , which he reportedly sold for $360 million to his close friend Farkhad Akhmedov in 2014.
Ocean Victory | 459 feet, 3 inches
The largest motoryacht ever built in Italy, Fincantieri’s Ocean Victory is owned by Russian billionaire Viktor Rashnikov, who was sanctioned in 2022. The seven-deck exterior by Espen Øino includes two helideck platforms and a hangar belowdecks, as well as exceptional outdoor social areas and a floodable tender dock. Ocean Victory has accommodations for 28 guests as well as quarters for 56 crew. The interior by Alberto Pinto remains a secret, aside from the yacht’s six pools, a 3,300-square-foot spa, and an underwater observation room.
Scheherazade | 459 feet, 3 inches
The 459.3-foot, Lürssen-built Scheherazade (formerly known as Project Lightning) was delivered in June 2020, with exterior design by Espen Øino and interior design by Francois Zuretti. Two helipads, forward and aft, and a large beach club aft are visible from aerial photographs, but aside from the yacht’s reported seven-foot beam, 40 crew and unique drone-crashing system for privacy, further details have not yet been released. The reason may lie with the yacht’s unofficial owner, believed to be Russian president Vladimir Putin. In May 2022, Italian authorities froze Scheherazade in the port of Marina di Carrara following an investigation conducted by Italian financial police who found the ship’s beneficial owner had “significant economic and business ties” to high-ranking Russian government officials, though the results of the investigation to date remain inconclusive.
Al Salamah | 456 feet
When Lürssen launched Al Salamah in 1999, it was the third-largest yacht in the world. Its number 20 ranking shows how much has changed in the last 20 years. Code-named MIPOS, or Mission Possible, the yacht was designed by Terence Disdale . Originally owned by Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the yacht was put up for sale for $280 million in in 2013 before it was reportedly given to Bahraini Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa as a gift. The large imposing exterior is primarily protected space, with an upper deck exposed to the elements. Al Salamah has staterooms for 40 guests, including two owner suites, 11 VIP staterooms, and eight twin cabins. The yacht can carry up to 96 crew and has a top speed of 22 knots. Al Salamah was last refitted in 2009.
Rising Sun | 454 feet, 1 inch
Designed by the original guru of yacht designers, Jon Bannenberg, Rising Sun was built by Lürssen for Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and is currently owned by billionaire David Geffen, who reportedly paid $590 million for the yacht. The yacht comes with a gym, a grand piano, multiple swimming pools, a beauty salon, and a spa with a sauna. Delivered in 2004 and last refit in 2022, the yacht’s exterior is defined by banks of windows across the superstructure. Rising Sun has 86,000 square feet of living space in 82 rooms. It can accommodate 18 guests in nine cabins, with the capacity to carry up to 46 crew. The interior by Seccombe Design includes a gym, cinema, and wine cellar, and the rear cockpit deck was designed as a basketball court. Geffen received global media backlash in 2020 for his “tone deaf” social-media posts that pictured himself on board his yacht during Covid-19 lockdown.
Flying Fox | 446 feet, 2 inches
The 446.2-foot Flying Fox is arguably the most high-profile yacht on this list, primarily for being the largest yacht available on the charter market. In 2022, it was also singled out as “blocked property” by U.S. authorities in 2022 due to its previous management Imperials Yachts, which was on the US sanctions list. The yacht’s owner, however, Russian billionaire Dmitry Kamenshchik, is not sanctioned, so the yacht was turned over to him and returned to charter in 2024. Key features of the Espen Øino-designed exterior are a curvaceous dove-gray hull and a 3.7-foot swimming pool that runs athwartship on the main aft deck, the largest ever found on board a yacht. A two-decked spa also gives guests access to a cryosauna, hammam, and relaxation room with a fold-down balcony at sea level. Packed to the rafters with the latest amenities, the yacht holds a diving center, a decompression chamber, and two helipads. Flying Fox is PYC compliant and can accommodate 25 guests.
Savarona | 446 feet, 2 inches
Launched in 1931, and by far the largest and fastest private yacht of her day, Savarona was built for American heiress Emily Roebling Cadwalader and is easily identified by its two mustard-colored funnels. The yacht was eventually acquired by Turkey to be the presidential yacht of Kemal Atatürk, founder of modern Turkey. Jane’s Fighting Ships described the yacht in 1949 as “probably the most sumptuously fitted yacht afloat.” Savarona was later converted to a training ship for the Turkish Navy and, in 1978, destroyed by fire. The yacht laid in tatters for 10 years. A Turkish businessman spent around $45 million refurbishing Savarona , commissioning Donald Starkey for the interior and replacing the original steam-turbine engines with modern Caterpillar diesels. Savarona became Turkey’s official presidential yacht again in 2014, accommodating up to 34 guests in 17 suites and carrying up to 48 crew. Amenities include a swimming pool, a Turkish bath, a 280-foot grand staircase, a movie theater and a library dedicated to Atatürk.
Crescent | 443 feet
Last refit in 2021, Espen Øino’s dark hull and tiered superstructure was one of the most exciting launches of 2018. Called Project Thunder internally at Lürssen, the custom-built yacht features cutouts along the hull sides that allow full ocean views from the saloon on the primary deck, as part of Crescent ’s distinctive curved superstructure. Its most noteworthy feature is the jaw-dropping bank of three-deck-high windows in the center of the yacht. This architectural feature serves as the centerpiece of a very compelling design. The yacht has accommodations for 18 guests in nine staterooms. Little is known about the François Zuretti-designed interior, other than Lürssen describing it as being “traditionally styled.” If it lives up to Crescent ’s brash exterior, the complete yacht promises to be an entirely groundbreaking design. In March 2022, Crescent was detained by Spain as property of Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin, who is sanctioned in connection with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Serene | 439 feet, 3 inches
Serene is the yacht that launched Fincantieri into the superyacht segment, and what a debut it was. The largest yacht ever launched in Italy when it was delivered in 2011 (surpassed three years later by Ocean Victory ), the Espen Øino seven-deck design features a long, sleek blue hull crowned by a white superstructure. Pascale Reymond of Reymond Langton Design created the 43,056-square-foot interior for a Russian owner, which includes a double height atrium with a piano lounge at the top and a vast open-plan main salon below. Sunken LEDs and bright pink and purple neon lights create a modern party vibe in the social areas, which contrast with the elaborate yet more traditional guest suites. A spiral staircase with intricate metal banisters soars through the heart of the yacht. The open stern area has a winter garden (enclosed glasshouse) that allows dining in all seasons. Serene also has two helipads and a hangar, a big swimming pool, and a tender garage large enough for a submarine.

The fastest superyacht tenders in the world
Technohull sea dna 999 (81 knots).
Speed is serious business among yacht makers, with several yards vying to create the world's fastest superyachts , and it's only fitting that your tender should be able to keep up with the mothership.
Blowing the competition out of the water is the latest model from Greek boatbuilder Technohull. The Sea DNA 999 is a 10.3 metre RIB tender with a claimed top speed of 81 knots, as proven by her recent sea trials. This means owners can cruise from Athens to Mykonos in less than two hours — ideal for a speedy weekend getaway.
This staggering performance is possible thanks to a deep V hull slicing through the water and either twin 400hp outboard engines on the back or a sleeker 530hp inboard set-up (pictured above), which is still good for 63 knots flat out. The Sea DNA 999 is offered in three bow configurations: cabin, open and delta — the latter of which is ideal for relaxation, with sunpads covering the entire area forward of the helm position.
SV Alpha (78+ knots)
Launched at the 2017 Miami Boat Show and billed as "the world's fastest luxury yacht", the 11.7 metre SV Alpha has a claimed top speed in excess of 78 knots. This speed machine gets its power from a pair of 700hp Mercury Racing SCI engines paired to SSM6 surface drives, although a more sensible twin 520hp version is also offered.
Premium features include bespoke sunpads, a champagne cooler, underwater lighting and a high-end stereo system. Ideal for daytime entertaining, the SV Alpha can carry up to 15 guests on the ride of a lifetime.
Midnight Express Quintessence43 (78 knots)
For a long time, sticking three outboard engines on the back of a centre console boat was a big move in the horsepower game, then came the five-engine Midnight Express Quintessence43.
Powered by a quintet of 400hp Mercury outboard racing engines, the Quintessence43 flies by at a whopping 78 knots (90 mph).
Thanks to a twin-stepped hull design, she gets up onto the plane quickly for added comfort and a smooth ride at such high speeds, as shown in this video of the new Midnight Express Quintessence43 , making her a great fast superyacht tender choice.
Wahoo Ribs RX700 (70 knots)
Anyone who catches a glimpse of the four bright orange bucket seats on the RX700 will think the same thing — speed. And they are not wrong, the 9.6 metre RX700 tender from Wahoo Ribs is not for the faint-hearted.
The outstanding performance characteristics of the Wahoo hull combine with the twin 350 horsepower, super-charged Mercury Verado outboard engines, to fire it to a staggering 70 knots (80.5 mph).
However, the meticulous design means the RX700 isn't just about speed. According to Wahoo it is also "perfectly behaved at sea in a sedate superyacht tender environment".
The large 700 litre fuel tank means the RX700 is not just a one-trip wonder either. With a range of over 300 nautical miles it can easily venture ahead to the next destination along the coast, without having to wait for the mothership.
Wahoo Ribs LX600 (65 knots)
The technically advanced 9.6 metre LX600 has a hull that was inspired by the race boat designs of legendary naval architect Lorne Campbell , but reconfigured by Wahoo's own designer for improved performance.
Twin 300 horsepower Mercury Verado outboard engines power the LX600 to an impressive 65 knots (75 mph). It is the only rib of its kind to have Mercury's innovative joystick control system, making for super easy handling.
The LX600 has space for 12 guests to fly across the waves in superyacht style. The custom JL Audio Marine speaker system can blast a superyacht worthy 1300 Watts through 12 speakers, three sub woofers and two amplifiers.
The LX600 was delivered in November 2015 to join its 85.5 metre Oceanco mothership, Sunrays .
X-Craft X-Line (55+ knots)
They might look more utilitarian, but few yacht tenders can beat the sporty handling and dry ride of a RIB.
The X-line from X-Craft is one of the fastest yacht tenders around, running at top speeds exceeding 55 knots (63 mph) and capable of catching some air along the way.
The deck configuration is customisable from eight to nine metres, meaning up to 11 customers can be carried in comfort.
Novamarine Black Shiver 140 (48 knots)
Italian yard Novamarine is no stranger to building high-performance custom powerboats, with 40 models sold to the Qatari Coast Guard alone, but the Black Shiver 140 is the pick of the bunch when it comes to speedy superyacht tenders. Motoring along at 48 knots even in choppy conditions, this aggressively styled tender cuts through the wave and boasts sporty handling without ever losing grip.
Available in both cabin and open guises, the 13.85 metre Black Shiver 140 can be fitted out with a small galley, heads compartment and shower. Engine options include inboard, outboard and jet-drive set-ups for a maximum output of 1,050hp. And with a triple 400hp Mercury outboard version on the way, this design looks set to rise even closer to the top of our list in 2017.

Goldfish 23 eFusion (47 knots)
As well as being one of the world’s fastest superyacht tenders, the Goldfish 23 eFusion is part of a fast-growing trend for electric tenders .
Powered by a 194hp UQM electric motor, this 5.5 metre Scandinavian speedster boasts a twin stepped hull that can achieve a hair-raising 47 knots.
Williams Turbojet 445 S (46 knots)
Don't let the petite dimensions of this RIB fool you, though the Williams Turbojet 445 S is only 4.54 metres LOA, she packs a serious punch. This fast tender can get up to a maximum speed of 46 knots (53 mph), leaving much larger yacht tenders in her wake.
Not just for running ship to shore, the Turbojet 445 S can also tow water-skiers, making her an ideal all-around tender for yachts with limited garage stowage space.
Castoldi JT21 (40.5 knots)
Italian jet drive specialist Castoldi knows a thing or two about speedy superyacht tenders, and the 6.24 metre Castoldi JT21 is the fastest in its collection, driven by a 260hp Yanmar engine to a top speed of more than 40 knots. The central helm position leaves room for up to 12 guests sitting forward and aft, while the jet drives are not only safer for watersports and swimming, but they also reduce the risk of running aground in shallow waters.
