SC 55 . Strong, recognizable, captivating. A catamaran with character.
Designing a boat is a matter of balance.
In designing the lines of the Swiss Catamarans 55 hull, Francois Perus and Romain Scolari focused on a design intended for fast cruising on the open sea: to sail in any sea in comfort and safety, with a fast cat, and extremely easy to steer. The result is a high-performance, wave-resistant multihull with excellent sailing properties.
Even in the renderings, the modern and powerful hull shape is evident, with low rocker to promote glide and acceleration in the wind and create dynamic lift to reduce pitching and heeling. The displacement takes into account the load requirements for a blue water cruiser where perfect balance is achieved by keeping the weights centered and the bow and stern mirrors empty.
The mast is of medium length to have a balanced sail plan between mainsail and foresail with high extension sails for greater efficiency. The sail plan also includes self-tacking jib for easier maneuvering, genoa for more power, and gennaker.
The weight study was very important in the design, and the deck is calibrated to allow for weight control and maximum interior habitability. The structure was optimized by the specialized firm Rivoyre Ingénierie with the use of carbon fibers wherever reinforcements are needed.
The deck layout is centralized around the roof, and the 2 rudders (single rudder model also available) are located in the cockpit area well protected from the weather and positioned for excellent visibility fore and aft. Remote electric control options are possible.
The overall design of the Swiss Catamarans 55 is definitely eye-catching in its look where very sharp inverted bows emphasize very high-performance hulls.
The collaboration between Marco Amadio , Christian Paulish, Swisscat Yachts and Yacht Design Collective aimed to have a catamaran rich in details but with great cleanliness in the lines that are easily recognizable by the strong identity, with typical Italian craftmanship details: low belt line and low hard top wrinkle.
The deck drains have been studied to ensure a clean and always dry deck, and the tunnel is high for performance sailing even in rough sea conditions. However, the decidedly sporty design leaves room for a spacious interior where the saloon with opening windows, good head clearance and rotates around the central island.
The deckhouse has reverse glazing to ensure perfect shading, but also a 360° panoramic view from the dinette, with no blind spots. The cabins are very bright and comfortable with spaces ergonomically designed for maximum comfort.
Equipment Swiss Catamarans 55, comes standard with retractable daggerboards to allow upwind speeds like those of a fast monohull, sailing in shallow water and approaching land in the most beautiful bays. Also standard equipment includes a carbon mast and synthetic rigging for excellent rigidity throughout the sail plan with the lowest possible center of gravity reducing pitching to a minimum.
Swiss Cat 55 can have all maneuvers operated by electric winches, such as headsails and daggerboards, mainsail traveller, jib/genoa sheet adjustment and halyards.
As every Swisscat before, the new 55 offers a wide range of truly custom options according to the owners’ preferences and of course budget. Some choices like the mast, rigging, sails, interior design, number of rudders, number of cabins, just to name a few can be left entirely to the owners wishes. We are of course very happy to give our suggestions and to help during the design process.

12 carefully selected catamarans for sale
By our team of brokers.
Catamarans are becoming more and more popular for obvious reasons: They offer the space of a Villa on the water, you have only little sideway roll movement in the waves and they are very economically. These selected Catamarans are immediately available, either new or in mint condition and reasonably priced.
It’s no secret that catamarans have become increasingly popular over the years. Boasting a number of benefits and advantages, catamarans are highly sought-after boats by many. Here are just a few of the main benefits of owning a catamaran.
One of the biggest advantages to buying a catamaran is the spaciousness. Catamarans generally come with two hulls that are connected by a bridge, which creates a larger living area than more traditional boats. This is great for enjoying a comfortable leisurely cruise or hosting an unforgettable party on the lake. Depending on the size and type of catamaran, it can also provide proper accommodations for several people.
Catamarans also tend to have greater stability and maneuverability compared to traditional boats. This means that you can enjoy a smoother and more enjoyable riding experience. The great stability also makes catamarans an ideal choice for smoother sailing in choppy waters.
Another benefit of owning a catamaran is its fuel economy. As catamarans have less drag due to their multiple hulls, they tend to use less fuel than traditional boats. So not only will this save you money, but it’s also kinder on the environment.
Another plus is that catamarans usually have less maintenance requirements, as their multiple hulls require less effort to clean and maintain. This also means that they can last longer than traditional boats if looked after correctly.
Finally, catamarans are known for their excellent seaworthiness. This is largely due to their increased stability and performance in the open water. Due to their superior designs and construction, catamarans tend to be better equipped to handle rougher sea conditions than other boats, making them a great choice for extended trips.
All in all, catamarans offer numerous benefits and advantages that traditional and other boats simply cannot compete with. Whether you’re looking for a great party boat or a reliable adventure cruiser, a catamaran may be just the right choice for you.

The E-power 40, Swiss Catamaran's hybrid catamaran
Swiss Catamarans has in its drawers a project for a motor catamaran - for the sea and canals - hybrid. Offered in charter or owner version, this boat is for the moment only a project, waiting for a future interested owner.
The Swiss shipyard Swiss Catamarans, whose reputation is well established in the high-end sailing catamaran , is presenting a new project. The E-power 40 is a motor catamaran available in diesel or hybrid (diesel and electric) versions. For the moment it is only in the project phase, a customer will have to show interest for a first copy to be built.
The E-power 40 was designed by Philippe Rivière, in vinylester glass sandwich and can be equipped in charter or owner's version. With a length of 11.95 m, it can accommodate 8 to 10 people and has the ambition to have the lowest possible ecological impact. It is also available in a hybrid version.
Charter or owner version
On the boat , there are five living areas: the front cockpit dedicated to meals and idleness, the fly cockpit, the rear cockpit on the same level with the saloon, the saloon with two electric sliding windows at the front and rear and a roof solarium.
The floats can be fitted with 2 to 4 cabins (especially for the charter version) and a total of 10 people can sleep on board (additional sleeping in the saloon). Two separate toilets and two showers completely equip the floats.
On deck, several facilities are available: saloon forward or aft, galley to port or aft... The owner reserves the choice of upholstery colours, woodwork and flooring. The kitchen is fully equipped ( refrigerator , worktop, 3 burners, sink or freezer). The E-power 40 will have an external helm station (on the flybridge) and an internal helm station.
In the proprietary version, the equipment is identical to the charter version. The front station can be equipped with storage space, a washing machine and an extra berth.
Owner version
On the leisure side, the catamaran can accommodate a complete set of equipment: canoes, paddles, tender...
3 possible motorizations
The E-power 40 is available in a hybrid version for more economical navigation. Thus, the roof and bimini are covered with solar panels (4,500 W). A 15 kW generator set and 2 electric motors from 15 to 20 kW are used for propulsion . The power supply allows a reduced speed of 5 to 7 knots.
In version 1, the catamaran is equipped with 2 Mistubishi /Caterpillar servitude engines for a power of 70 HP at 2300 rpm and a cruising speed of 10 knots (consumption of about 6 L/h).
In version 2, the catamaran is equipped with Yanmar engines for a power of 110 HP Turbo-common and a cruising speed of 13 knots (consumption of about 12 L/h).

Swiss Catamaran Concept produces offshore cruising catamarans for the most discerning of clients, and the S2C 55 catamaran has been specifically designed with blue-water cruising in mind. The S2C 55 is a cat with exceptional boat-handling and the standard package comes with a comprehensive range of extras required for long passages. Our aim is to provide a top of the range product with no hidden costs for the buyer; the S2C 55 is ready for ocean-sailing as soon as she leaves our yard.
An intense programme
The S2C 55 catamaran will be showcased on many occasions over the following year:
During the Düsseldorf Boat Show, from the 22nd to the 30th January, a model of the new concept will be on display at our stand (no. 15B 25). Our experienced staff will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
In the meantime, the catamaran ‘Swisscat’, the second of two S2C 55 catamarans already built, will be delivered to the South of France (from the yard in Turkey where the boat was built and wintered). ‘Swisscat’ will be presented to the French public for the first time at the Salon Nautique du Multicoque de la Grande Motte (from the14th to the 17th April).
Swiss Catamaran - S2C 55 - Photo Philippe Echelle Swiss Catamaran
‘Swisscat’ will then sail to the Balearic Islands, where she will be showcased during Palma’s International Boat Show (April 24th to May 2nd).
Finally, the S2C 55 will be presented in Cannes during the International Boat and Yacht Show (7th to 12th September).
The S2C 55 ‘Swisscat’ will be available for visits during all of these boat shows. If you are interested, you can also make an appointment to test-sail the boat and discover her sensational handling under sail.
New projects
Following on from the success of the S2C 55, designer Sébastien Schmidt and Swiss Catamaran are currently working on several draft projects based on the same philosophy: high level, ready-to-sail and with no hidden costs.
In response to demands from clients who love the Swiss Catamarans concept but who would ideally like a smaller yacht, we are currently developing the S2C 45. This more compact version of the original will be less than eight metres wide, enabling her to fit into most European locks and making her easier to moor in port. Like her big sister, she is fully equipped with a carbon mast and top of the range fittings. She should come with a price tag of less than €850,000.
At the same time, we have started preliminary studies for the S2C 75: a futuristic project featuring a hybrid propulsion system. We’ll have more information on this innovative project soon! A key word: flexibility
The S2C 55 is a custom built yacht and can be personalised by her owner. The basic structure including the hull design, deck layout and carbon spars are fixed, but the fit out, colour and choice of wood for the interior can be adapted according to the client’s wishes.

The aim is of course to be able to present the boat for its world premiere at the next Cannes Boat Show... In the meantime, this boat has everything it needs to appeal to lovers of long, shorthanded sea voyages. The best of the best for families! Weighing 11 tonnes unladen (14.5 tonnes fully laden), the catamaran is bound to be a good performer; for this we can trust its architect (Sébastien Schmidt also designed the Decision 35). Just like all the boats in the range, the S2C 45 is very well equipped as standard (sails - dinghy - electronics - TV - cold storage...) and ready to leave for the other side of the world, and as the icing on the cake, it is suited to the format of the locks in Germany, Holland and the Nordic countries... A really cosmopolitan cruising boat!
