LIBERTY Yacht – The Awesome $18.4 Million Superyacht

The LIBERTY yacht is a 49.95m motor yacht built and delivered in 2011 by ISA Yachts (International Shipyards Ancona), a brand of Palumbo Superyachts. 

First built as an ISA 500 model with a charter in mind, she completed her 10-year classification survey last year. 

The LIBERTY superyacht comes in at 913th place on the ranking of the largest yachts in the world. She is known for her speed and comfort.

Across her three ample decks, a mix of light yet bright colors and an ocean-themed interior is what embellishes the inside of the vessel. 

The LIBERTY yacht features a combination of fabrics, textures, and furnishing along with a very unique Mother of Pearl decorative element.

This cozy superyacht is capable of comfortably accommodating up to 12 guests in six welcoming cabins, one master suite, a VIP suite, two double cabins, and two twin cabins.

LIBERTY can also accommodate up to 11 crew members on board.

As part of the sea-inspired interior, each of the six staterooms was themed on different sea creatures. They include the tortoise, seahorse, shark, nautilus, shrimp, starfish, and coral.

Some of the amenities the LIBERTY yacht has to offer are a bar, spacious dining areas on deck, sun loungers, lounge seating, sun cushions, and fishing gear.

The LIBERTY yacht features exterior design by Andrea Vallicelli and naval architecture by ISA Yachts. However, she is also Maria Stefania Biondo Dalla Casapiccola’s debut in shipbuilding.

LIBERTY has a steel dark hull and aluminum superstructure in shades of grey. This unique exterior combines modern technology with luxury.

The exterior color scheme is neutral, symbolizing marine life with a mix of grey, teak, and white colors on the top of the vessel, while the lower part of the superstructure is a ‘red coral’ color.

Some of her toys and equipment include a kneeboard, wakeboard, jet ski, inflatable floating island, and snorkeling gear.

LIBERTY yacht specifications

The LIBERTY yacht has a length of 49.95m, a beam of 8.84m, a draft of 2.44m, and a volume of 495 GT. 

She is powered by 2 MTU engines, which gives her a cruising speed of 15.5 knots, a top speed of 16.8 knots, and a range of 2,200 nautical miles.

In addition to this LIBERTY has the capacity to store 15,000 liters of water and 87,000 liters of fuel on board. 

Her cruising regions are Corsica and Sardinia, French Riviera, Italian, Riviera, Montenegro, Malta, Turkey, Croatia, Campania, Tuscany, and East Mediterranean.

According to some sources, the LIBERTY yacht was last sold in 2008 and she is currently listed for sale again with an asking price of 17,995,000 EUR.

The main deck of motor yacht LIBERTY has large corridors with the main saloon encircled by a continuous panoramic window that opens through the wide sliding doors to the main deck aft.

Liberty's vast sundeck has a sunbathing area and bar plus a comfortable sitting area aft with a number of chais-longues. The central dining table is located under the mast with structural sunshade.

The upper deck forward of the wheelhouse is linked to the main deck and by a small stairway and is furnished with two sofas, a great area for guests to enjoy the view while underway. Her upper deck aft, as well as her main deck aft, provides al fresco dining opportunities.

SuperYacht LIBERTY’s transom has no staircase, however, the wide aft door opens, giving access to the “beach room” and creating a multi purpose area to enjoy using the water sport toys, swimming from the platform or sunbathing with a cocktail in hand. A large guest tender is stored in a garage adjoining “the beach area” and is launched through a door in the side of the hull.

LIBERTY yacht constructed by ISA is propelled by twin MTU 12V4000 M17 engines enabling her to reach a maximum speed of approximately 16.8 knots with a cruising speed of 12 knots. Liberty has a range of 2,200 NM and a fuel capacity of 69,000 litres.

Motor Yacht

M/Y Liberty - A unique yacht in the world. Usually a 50 meter yacht is envisioned as a floating house, a series of spaces enabling to carry on domestic life on water instead of on earth. The Liberty, instead, makes the water element its purpose of being and the sea its inspiration.

Liberty generates from the stable ISA-ANDREA VALLICELLI teamwork, but is also the debut of Maria Stefania Biondo dalla Casapiccola into shipbuilding. And perhaps it was the freshness of the interior designer to ensure that this motor yacht is unique in terms of lines, materials, combinations of colours and design choices.

From the exterior, the yacht presents a streamlined structure in a shade of grey that evokes both elegance and technology. The dark hull is topped with a sleek white superstructure, the lines of which confer an impression of speed even when the ship is not moving. Large outdoor areas are designed for relaxation, starting from the sundeck at the bow, featuring a semicircular bar covered with wood and slate materials never used before in this function. On each deck shows the designer has come up with flexible and dynamic solutions that enable to transform spaces accordingly for relax, entertainment or lunch: coffee tables turn into dining tables, and lounge chairs into comfortable sunbeds. The exterior colour palette combines three neutral colours- gray, teak and white – with a single decorative colour, red coral, element of conjunction between man made material and the marine world. The choice is not random but is related to the “leitmotif” of the ship’s interior design. Each living space of the Liberty has been built around a hero, a protagonist of the fauna or flora of the sea world. This is how the tortoise, the seahorse, the shark, the nautili, the shrimp, the sea star and the coral come to life. This is the name of the environments in which the owners and their friends live in symbiosis with the sea.

Boat Review: Liberty 42

This Liberty sports a very traditional look, reminiscent of the Bertram 31 (the world’s best-selling sportfishing boat of all time), with the engine boxes extending out into the cockpit. The reason for this design aspect has nothing to do with giving the boat a “retro” look. Rather, Liberty Yachts President Joe Corvelli says that “with an almost 21-degree deadrise at the transom and such a wide beam, setting the cabin lower – on the stringers – also makes the center of gravity much lower. Plus, even though this 42 qualifies as a flybridge boat, the captain can be in the cockpit much more quickly with a mere three steps down than when having to climb a 10-foot-tall flybridge ladder.”

Another benefit he didn’t mention shows when you open the engine boxes. Unlike in the engine room on most 42-footers, you still find plenty of headroom in which to work around the engine. The hatch access provides virtually complete engine access both inboard and outboard. You can even reach the custom outboard battery boxes with no problem. Still, I say virtually complete access because to work on the dripless stuffing boxes, you’ll need to remove the exhaust manifold. Corvelli rightfully claims that the new, oversize fish boxes take up space that could have gone to stuffing-box access – a compromise he chose since the dripless stuffing boxes rarely need maintenance.

And even though the classical-looking Liberty 42 doesn’t openly flaunt the advanced technology that went into it, you can certainly feel it when you push the throttles up. Of course, a pair of 800-hp MAN engines with Hynautic power steering and Glendinning electronic controls go a long way toward maximizing the performance of the Liberty 42. Couple the controls with George Von Widmann’s Integrated Exhaust Hull Structure – an underwater exhaust system that balances the exhaust for zero back pressure – and this 42 gets up and goes quite nicely. The result provides a very quiet and efficient power package.

Underway, the slightest turn of the wheel at idle speed brings instantaneous response. In fact, this boat runs beautifully at just the right harbor speed on one engine at idle and still remains very responsive. It drifts almost directly beam-to the wind with gentle transitions to its moderate roll moment. The wide beam-to-length ratio successfully counterbalances the comparatively deep-V deadrise (20 degrees) at the transom to make drifting comfortable, stable and balanced in a beam sea. Get up and run in a 4-foot beam sea and you’ll find the ride rock-steady and bone-dry – we didn’t get one drop of spray on the enclosure. The Liberty 42 spins like a top and backs down at 6 knots in reverse, though it doesn’t want to follow a straight line when traveling at that speed and direction. Turn the wheel hard over at cruising speed and you can execute a 180-degree turn in about four boat lengths.

Belowdecks, you’ll find a double berth on an electric ram in the forepeak with storage underneath and additional storage in surrounding lockers. In fact, you get storage under every seat, step and floorboard on the Liberty. L-shaped settees frame the dinette just aft. The head stands to starboard with a handsome, separate curved shower stall. The head also boasts an opening window for natural light and fresh air. The galley features all the normal top-end accessories, including two Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers and two freezer drawers.

The cockpit sports a beautiful solid-teak cap rail with no break for the tuna door, a Murray Products fighting chair, huge fish boxes, engine vents under the covering boards, and storage for rods, gaffs and mops in cabinets under the gunwales. The generator – situated against the transom in the lazarette to keep the noise away from the living quarters – hides under a hatch with a waterproof gasket to prevent any water intrusion from the cockpit deck. Liberty prides itself on building boats without a single hole in the hull sides. Everything drains into manifold boxes that empty out through the transom. Those who believe in reviving billfish before releasing them will particularly appreciate the easy reach to the water when bending over the gunwale.

Liberty Yachts may not be the biggest or most famous custom builder, but the quality and innovation coming out of this shop stacks up well against anyone out there.

10 of the biggest yachts at this year's Palm Beach International Boat Show

The Palm Beach International Boat Show returns to West Palm Beach's waterfront from March 21-24 — bringing with it some of the largest, most luxurious yachts in the world.

The Super Yacht Show Palm Beach features a range of boats that are longer than 100 feet, including 18 that are longer than 151 feet.

Here's a look at 10 of the biggest boats that visitors to the show can experience up close.

Come Together

This 197-foot behemoth with a price tag that starts at $59.95 million makes it the most expensive boat for sale at the 2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show.

Come Together provides plenty of space and amenities to do as its name suggests and bring more than a dozen people together for an adventure at sea, according to its listing on the show's website.

It was built in 2022 by Amels and features a hybrid propulsion system. The interiors were done by Winch Design of London, with materials including Jerusalem limestone, light matte oak and walnut, and bronze. The ship's six cabins can house up to 14 guests, the listing said.

A 27-meter sun deck features a Jacuzzi with a sunbathing area, gym equipment, sheltered bar and wind-protected dining table.

You can find Come Together in the water at Ramps C and D.

Hospitality

Want to buy the 164-foot Hospitality? The price starts at $29.75 million, according to the yacht's listing on the boat show's website.

The Westport-built vessel was first constructed in 2011 and refit in 2021. It has seven cabins that can accommodate 16 guests. That includes a primary suite and a VIP suite. It also features a sun deck with a hot tub and sunbathing area.

The ship has traveled "to some of the world's most remote places with an impressive 4,000+ nautical mile range," its listing said.

You can find Hospitality in the water at Ramp E at the show.

The 155-foot Ancora was just completed in August by manufacturer Mengi Yay, its listing said. It is being presented by Fraser Yachts.

Ancora was built for charter use and has a master suite with a private balcony, plus four staterooms including two doubles and two convertibles, allowing for up to 10 guests, the listing said.

Summer charter rates with Fraser run from about $282,000 per week in the western Mediterranean Sea to about $260,000 per week in the winter in the Caribbean, according to Fraser's website .

You can find Ancora in the water at Ramp 2.

Next Chapter

This Benetti-built vessel is 180 feet and 6 inches and was built in 2003 with a refit in 2022, the listing said.

Next Chapter's six cabins — including a split-level master suite with an observation lounge and private study — can accommodate up to 13 people. It features a Jacuzzi, gym and beach club, and is built for charter use, the listing said.

The price starts at $19.9 million, and the ship is being presented at the show by The International Yacht Co.

Next Chapter will be in the water at Ramp E.

For $21 million, you can be the new owner of the Feadship-built Berilda, a 155-foot yacht built in 2001 and refit in 2020-21, according to its listing.

The yacht has "the highest pedigree with a documented history of excellent owners and meticulous care," the listing said. That ownership includes Royal Swedish Yacht Club member Sten Tegner, and Richard and Leslie Fairbanks.

The current owner bought Berilda in 2021 and has sailed across the Atlantic Ocean twice and through Europe, New England, the Bahamas and the Caribbean, the listing said. The yacht features six cabins for up to 14 people and quarters for a crew of up to 10.

Berilda will be in water at Ramp C.

Liberty, built by Trinity, is 187 feet and 2 inches, according to its listing. The yacht is designed for entertaining, the listing said, with social spaces including a dance floor.

Liberty was built in 2012, with work including a paint job, main engine rebuild, new generators and 10-year survey completed since 2018. The price starts at $24.75 million and the ship is being shown by The International Yacht Co.

The yacht has six cabins for 12 guests, with additional capacity for 13 crew, the listing said.

Named simply W, this 188-foot Feadship yacht is being shown by its manufacturer, according to its listing.

The vessel, originally launched as Larisa in 2013, had a major refit in 2020 and was renamed at that time, the listing said. W's owner changed the livery and antifouling, among other alterations, over the past 10 months, the listing said.

W will be in the water at Ramp C.

Priced at $20.9 million and being shown by exhibitor FGI Yacht Group, the 164-foot Tsumat was built by Trinity in 2012 and refit last year, according to its listing.

The exterior was designed by Geoff Van Aller. The interior by Ramón Alonso features leather, suede, marble and walnut, with onyx floors.

There are six staterooms for up to 12 guests and housing for a 10-person crew, the listing said.

Tsumat will be in the water at Ramps 2 and D.

The Nita K II is about 171 feet and was built by Amels in 2004, the listing said. It's priced starting at $23.9 million and presented by Merle Wood & Associates.

A refit in 2021-22 included an overhaul of the main engines and generators, and a 20-year Lloyd's class special survey was completed earlier this year, the listing said.

The interior was designed by Alberto Pinto and Laura Sessa, and the yacht can accommodate up to 12 people in five staterooms, plus room for 14 crew members in seven cabins, the listing said.

Nita K II will be in the water at Ramp D.

If it tells you anything about the level of luxury aboard the BG Charade, this 157-foot yacht was built by Feadship in 1990 for the late Paul Allen of Microsoft, the listing said. Under Allen, the BG Charade completed three circumnavigations and served as the honeymoon venue for Bill and Melinda Gates.

A technical and cosmetic refit was completed in 2016 and included new generators, rebuilt engines, new teak on the exterior and a complete electrical system update, the listing said.

BG Charade has six cabins for up to 12 guests, plus accommodations for up to 10 crew, the listing said.

The yacht will be in the water at Ramp 7.

Bonus: Talisman C

The epically long — 231.6 feet — and super-luxurious Talisman C, built by Turquoise in 2011, will be shown by Burgess Yachts in the water at Ramps D and E.

Liberty is built with a wood hull and mahogany superstructure, with teak decks. Liberty comfortably cruises at 25 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 34 knots with a range of up to 900 nautical miles from her 9,122 litre fuel tanks at 25 knots. Her low draft of 1.49m/4'11" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 1,575 Litres of fresh water.
