As stated in its Articles of Incorporation, the Mason’s Island Yacht Club (MIYC) is a social organization that encourages the sport of yachting, provides a place for community entertainment, and promotes recreational activities for the enjoyment of all of its members and their guests. At MIYC, we value our members, guests, and our employees as unique individuals, and we welcome the variety of experiences they bring to our club. If rain on your wedding day is good luck, Maura + Travis have bucket-fulls of the best luck ever coming their way! Saturday morning on the drive over to a picturesque Mason’s Island home where Maura was getting ready, the rain started coming down. And not too gently either-it was in that torrential New England downpour kinda way. But when I arrived Maura was not phased by the weather whatsoever, instead was just enjoying the chill morning with her sister, mom. and adorable niece. As if she knew she had no reason to worry, the rain cleared right when Maura had her finishing touches of hair and makeup, and everything was on for the outdoor celebration!
Maura + Travis admittedly took a while to get to the alter (or should I say the beautiful wooden arch with an ombre macrame wall hanging straight out of my boho dreams). After an 18 year friendship, dating for 10 of those years, they have been able to spend a lot of time together doing the things they love the most. Beginning with their first date at Go Fish, which I just have to mention has an excellent track record for matchmaking the perfect couples *ahem hubby*, they grew to love traveling, adventuring, going to Phish shows, (they may have seen every one played in the past 18 years!) cooking and eating delicious meals together. They love doing pretty much anything as long as they are together. So while a proposal was probably a no-brainer, it was also a long time coming. When it did happen it was a perfectly romantic Valentine’s Day proposal. After dinner at the Spicer Mansion , Travis had plans to ask Maura to be his wife at their home in front of the fireplace. As luck would have it by the time they came home it was dangerously close to midnight. Almost ready to head to bed when they got home, Maura turned around to see Travis kneeling on one knee. After some “no’s” of disbelief, she finally said Yes! just in time. Valentine’s Day was officially the day they began planning their ever after together and the Mason’s Island Yacht Club wedding of their dreams.
After over a year of planning, it was finally “the day”. As I mentioned the rain cleared just in time for this Mason’s Island Yacht Club wedding and for Maura to take a walk down the aisle with her father. With lights hanging in the trees, boats out in the mystic fog, and live music serenading them it was the perfect setting for these two. A truly personal and lovely ceremony delivered to the couple and their loving family and friends. After I do’s, rings, and first kisses, the newlyweds were official! We spent some time taking special family photos, celebrating all of the beautiful relationships Maura + Travis have created. The dinner was a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, and a LOT of laughter and excitement. You could hear the buzz of excitement all the way out on the docks that evening, and probably clear across the water. One of the highlights of the night to me was when Travis took the microphone and thanked everyone for coming, but also made a special little toast of sorts to Maura to just tell her how much he loved her. It was the sweetest! After dinner was served, the awesome Sunday Gravy started playing and the crowd was up and dancing immediately and I KNOW Maura + Travis had a blast dancing the night away!
I would love to thank you guys so much for having me be a part of your wedding day. I loved seeing your beautiful vision come to life, and seeing all the joy your friends and family had for you and your new life together. I know you guys are going to be continuously having so much fun together, and I cannot wait to watch it all unfold! Enjoy the photos of this beautiful Mason’s Island Yacht Club wedding below!

The Mason's Island Yacht Club (MIYC) is located on the southeastern end of Masons Island in Mystic, Connecticut. Founded in 1928, MIYC is a family oriented club that provides social and athletic events for its members and guests. Athletics include instructional and competitive programs in sailing, swimming, tennis, and bocce. While most MIYC programs are held in the summer months of July and August and Club usage swells in the warmer weather, MIYC is open throughout the year for use by members and their guests.

Masons Estates on the horizon in Mystic
The last large parcel of undeveloped land available on Masons Island in Mystic has been sold to a Stamford company planning a luxury 10-lot subdivision with homes starting at $3.5 million.
Peter A. Giordano of Stonington, managing partner of the Tier 1 building company that will bring the project to fruition, said last week in an interview that 17 inland acres north of School House Road will be used for the new luxury home community to be called Masons Estates. An entity called Masons 17 CT LLC bought the property for $3.9 million this month from the Masons Island Company, according to a press release.
“This is prime property,” said Judi Caracausa, owner of Market Realty, who brokered the private deal. “It’s hard to find 17 acres of land anywhere in Stonington.”
Plans for the development call for five acres of open space and lots of between 1 and 1.3 acres, much bigger than most parcels on Masons Island. Home sizes in a cul-de-sac area to be named Kingfisher Way, near Egret and Cormorant roads, will be a minimum of 3,500 square feet.
Coast to Coast Development Partners LLC of Stamford is the project developer, with principals listed as Paulus and Hans Ingram.
Tier 1 will be the builder for the entire project to ensure consistency and high quality throughout the development, Giordano said, while New England Design in Mansfield will be the development’s architecture firm, unless a buyer has another preference. Caracausa’s firm, Market Realty, will be exclusive listing agent for the properties.
“They will not all be the same style house,” Giordano said, “but they have to be comparable.”
Designs will have to be assessed by an Architectural Review Committee, he added. Amenities are up to the individual homeowner, but expectations are that many will want pools, home offices, outdoor kitchens and other high-end finishes.
Homeowners will be eligible for membership in the Masons Island Yacht Club, though acceptance is not guaranteed, Caracausa said. According to the Masons Island Company website, “The Yacht Club provides facilities and instruction for sailing and small boat racing, swimming, tennis and bocce. There is also an extensive social program and several regattas.”
In 2004, the same property was approved for 21 lots, but the market soon shifted, and those plans were put on hold, Caracausa said. Rufus Allyn, principal of the Masons Island Company, eventually decided to sell the land, though it never went on the open market, she added.
The Masons Island Company was set up in 1912 to manage the development of the approximately 600 acres of property on what Native Americans had called Chippachaug, meaning a separated place. It is named after John Mason, a controversial military figure in the 1637 Pequot War whose family owned the land for several generations.
Builder Giordano, also a developer of high-end properties, said he started his career in corporate finance, but has been working on luxury homes for the past 23 years, including renovations. Local projects have been in places such as Mumford Cove, Essex, Weekapaug and Groton Long Point.
“We don’t go out and do speculative projects,” he said. “We’re looking for clients to reach out and say ‘This is really what we want.’”
Giordano said road clearing on the site will happen almost immediately, since the project has received all necessary approvals. He said eventually trees and brush will be cleared, but for now he wants to leave the land the way it is so buyers can decide which trees to salvage.
“It’s a heavily treed site,” he said. “It’s a dense property right now.”
Caracausa said that while homes of more than $3 million may seem pricey, it’s not outrageous by Masons Island standards, where there is virtually no inventory right now. Other homes there, she pointed out, recently have been valued at over $12 million.
“It’s not the top of the market by any stretch of the imagination,” she said. “People who could live anywhere in the world are moving here.”

Korolyov is a mid-sized city in North Moscow Oblast , best known as the "cradle of space exporation," as it was the center of the Soviet space program.
