Blu Yachts is the exclusive Italian distributor in the Adriatic and for the Austrian, Slovenian, German, Croatian and Swiss owners based in the Adriatic, of the Arcadia Yachts brand, one of the most successful shipyards in the world nautical panorama. Blu Yachts offers its customers a long experience in the sector, also offering a vast fleet of used and guaranteed boats as well as leasing services, financial advice, refitting and wintering. Blu Yachts has its operational headquarters in Lignano Sabbiadoro in the port of Marina Punta Faro, the Croatian headquarters and a technical yard in Fano adjacent to the port of Marina dei Cesari will soon open.

With the goal of better functionality and encouraged by the impressive and constant growth of his companies, entrepreneur Luigi Gambelli brought together brands Timone Yachts, Timone Yachts Brokerage, Timone Yachts Service, Timone Luxury cars, Blu Yachts and Yachtwerk under one captain’s cap in Timone Yachts Group. This move is a testament to the apparent growth that has led to the progressive development and consolidation of companies that withstood the severe financial crisis of 2008 and reactivated in a market that is booming despite the pandemic.

Timone Yachts Group, headed by Luigi Gambelli and his partner Paolo Moresco, operates as a single entity and uses all the possibilities of the company, and is a leader in the sale of luxury yachts , as well as in of ship storage and overhauling. The Group is also active in yacht charter in Croatia and consulting, crucial for the relationship between entrepreneurs and clients, seeing how Gambelli put emphasis on values such as trust and authority.

It took EVO only a few years to become one of the most anticipated brands at boat shows, a yachting firm that perfectly combines nautical engineering and smart design. Valerio Rivellini Head of Design and Engineering

Valerio has been a skipper since he was 7. After taking a degree in Marine Engineering, he became a Production Manager for several international shipyards, which led him to a thorough understanding of both design and construction.

Despite being a young designer, his Studio is one of the most sought-after engineering, yacht design and refitting firms in Italy.

Our shipyard is based near Naples, a city with a long history of shipbuilding. The artisans and workers at our shipyard are committed not only to perfectly shape our design idea, but to keep the tradition of Neapolitan shipbuilding alive.

The 34.95m/114'8" motor yacht 'Blu' (ex. Kos) was built by Benetti in Italy. Her interior is styled by French designer design house Zuretti and she was completed in 2005. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Stefano Righini and she was last refitted in 2010.

Blu has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising two VIP cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 7 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks, she benefits from a semi-displacement hull to provide exceptional seakeeping and impressive speeds. Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V2000M90) 1,350hp engines running at 2300rpm, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 3,200 nautical miles from her 35,000 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. Her water tanks store around 6,200 Litres of fresh water. She was built to ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) classification society rules.

European charity ship rescues 135 migrants but is assigned to distant port in Italy with 359 aboard

ROME (AP) — The European charity ship Ocean Viking said Friday it rescued another 135 migrants, including a pregnant woman and eight children, from a double-decker boat in Maltese search-and-rescue waters.

In total, the vessel operated by the humanitarian group SOS Mediterranee was carrying 359 shipwreck survivors, it said, adding the ship had been assigned to the distant port at Ancona, in Italy’s central Marche region.

“Such a long navigation should never be imposed on persons rescued at sea,” the rescue organization wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Non-governmental organizations operating in the central Mediterranean Sea have repeatedly warned that the far-right-led Italian government’s policy of assigning ports farther north keeps their rescue ships out of waters where they can be saving lives.

Migrants, mostly from the Middle East and Africa, often flee war and poverty in their own countries in search of a better life in European nations via the Mediterranean Sea.

Rome has recently ordered the ships to port after each rescue, punishing groups that conduct other rescues by holding ships in port for 20 days at a time.

The Ocean Viking has been subject to three such blocks over three months, the most recently from Feb. 8 until a judge lifted the block 10 days later.

Friday’s rescue came a day after survivors saved from a deflating rubber dinghy in the central Mediterranean on Thursday reported that some 60 people who departed from Libya with them more than a week ago had perished during the journey.

The Ocean Viking spotted the dinghy with 25 people on board Wednesday. Two were unconscious and were evacuated to the Sicilian island of Lampedusa, some 60 miles (97 kilometers) to the north. The other 23 were in serious condition, exhausted, dehydrated and with burns from fuel on board the boat.

An SOS Mediterranee spokesman said the survivors were traumatized and unable to give full accounts of what had transpired during the voyage, adding that the number of missing and presumed dead was unlikely to ever be verified.

Humanitarian groups often rely on accounts of survivors when pulling together the numbers of dead and missing at sea, presumed to have died.

The U.N. International Organization for Migration says 227 people have died along the perilous central Mediterranean route this year through March 11, not counting the new reported missing and presumed dead. That’s out of a total 279 deaths in the Mediterranean since Jan. 1. A total of 19,562 people arrived in Italy using that route in the period.

Dozens of Migrants Die After Their Dinghy Deflates in the Mediterranean

Survivors, who departed from Libya, said they had been adrift for four days when they were found.

A European humanitarian aid group said on Thursday that about 50 migrants died after their small boat deflated during an attempt to cross the central Mediterranean Sea.

A ship belonging to the charity, SOS Mediterranee , spotted the deflating rubber dinghy on Wednesday, in international waters under the Libyan rescue jurisdiction. Twenty-five dehydrated and exhausted migrants were on board.

The survivors told the charity that they had been adrift for four days, since the engine on their dinghy broke. Some 50 other people were with them when they departed from the Libyan port of Zawiya, they told the rescuers, including two infants and four women. There were only male survivors, half of them boys, the charity said.

Valeria Taurino, the director general of SOS Mediterranee, said the situation on board was “disastrous.”

Two of the passengers were unconscious when they were found, and they were evacuated by the Italian military for treatment on shore. The rest, hailing from Gambia, Mali and Senegal, showed signs of dehydration, exhaustion and burns from fuel on the boat, and were receiving medical treatment aboard the charity’s ship, the Ocean Viking, Ms. Taurino said.

The Ocean Viking was heading to disembark the passengers at Ancona, on the northeastern Italian coast, over 870 miles from where the survivors were found. The government says it is spreading the burden of identifying and later housing migrants. But charity groups argue that the practice is aimed at keeping ships occupied and off the ocean where they look for migrant boats, and makes rescues more expensive in terms of fuel consumption.

Migration advocates say there is a glaring scarcity of rescuers in the central Mediterranean. The U.N. International Organization for Migration said that 227 migrants had died on the Mediterranean route this year, without taking into account the most recent shipwreck. While arrivals have decreased by 70 percent compared with 2023, the death rate is not falling as rapidly.

“Deaths are down by 20 percent only,” said Flavio Di Giacomo, a spokesman for the International Organization for Migration in Italy. “It is a clear sign that the rescue system at sea is insufficient, and people keep dying as a result.”

An earlier version of this article misstated the distance between Ancona and where the survivors were found. It is 1,400 kilometers (870 miles), not 1,400 miles.
