Airport Seychelles International Airport on Mahé. From here 15minutter in flight with Air Seychelles, then 20 minutes by taxi to the base. Alternatively, 1 hour by boat ferry from Mahé (departure 2-3 times a day). We are happy to help arrange a transfer.

Important regarding sailing license In order to sail in the Seychelles, the skipper’s sailing license (alternatively an overview of sailing experience can do) must be approved by the Seychelles authorities prior departure. Therefore, it is important that a copy of the skipper’s sailing license is send to Seatravel by email as soon as possible. Once the skipper’s sailing license has been approved, you will receive a confirmation hereof from Seatravel. Before you receive this confirmation, Seatravel advises that you do not book flights and/or hotels, as the authorities can reject the sailing license, meaning that you are not allowed to sail in the Seychelles – however, this happens very rarely. If you have a local skipper, the above does not apply. However, you must still remember to submit the other sailing documents.

Of the 115 islands that make up the Seychelles, 41 Inner Islands embrace the oldest granite islands on earth. Another 74 islands form the low-lying coral atolls and reef islands that make up the Outer Islands.The Inner Islands, including Praslin and La Digue, are clustered around the main island, Mahe.

The Outer Islands are more remote and less touched because they’re situated beyond Seychelles. Mahe is the southernmost main island, and is an alternative to Praslin for sailing the Inner Islands. Why is Praslin Popular Among Sailors?

Praslin is said to be one of the world's most beautiful islands, and the main attraction is Valle´e de Mai , very often described as the Garden of Eden. Most of the island area is a national park with almost no roads, so it makes for a good spot to visit when taking a break from sailing on your yacht charter in Praslin . There are over 1.400 trees of Coco de Mer on the island, a palm with the largest and heaviest seeds in the world. Many legends about this palm include that Coco de Mer had healing powers. 

There are six endemic palms in the country, and all of them are on Praslin Island. In addition, by chartering a boat in Praslin you can explore the area that is home to other endemic species, like their national bird, the black parrot . This island has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world that you can visit when sailing Praslin, like Anse Lazio, Anse Georgette, and Cote d'Or .

The main international airport is Seychelles International Airport , located on Mahe island. It offers connections to many international destinations. When you charter a yacht in Praslin, you need to fly to Praslin Island Airport from Mahe, the island's only connection. Praslin marina is the main marina on the island and offers a wide selection of sailboats and catamarans to charter. In addition, there are bareboat and skippered charter options available.  

Seychelles is an ideal sailing destination year-round, but the best time to sail is during April-May or October-November. During these months, the water has excellent visibility, perfect for water activities, and you will also find ideal south-easterly winds averaging 10 to 20 knots. The period from May to September is considered the dry season. 

When you decided to opt for a yacht charter in Praslin , make sure to study the sea charts carefully as there are many reefs and shallow points. Most islands have good anchorages, and some even mooring options. Keep in mind that sailing at night in the Seychelles is not allowed, so plan your Praslin sailing itinerary accordingly.

There are anchorages on the southeast part of the island, on Petite Anse and Grande Anse, protected from northwest winds.  

When sailing Praslin, you wouldn’t want to miss the unique opportunity to visit Curieuse , the only island besides Praslin where the Coco de Mer grows naturally. It's also part of the National Marine Park and home to hundreds of giant tortoises that regularly nest there. During the nesting period, you might be able to spot them outside of Baie Laramie, where you can anchor.

Seychellois cuisine is diverse and is a fusion of all the different cultures behind it. Since this is an island country, the most frequent dish is fish, and be sure to taste in on your Praslin sailing vacation. Fishing is a tradition that locals usually do twice a day. Rice is the most popular side dish, but they also use a lot of fruits in almost every meal.  

The most popular fish meal in Seychelles, Pwason Griye , is usually prepared with red snapper or rabbit fish flavored with chili, garlic, and ginger, traditionally served with rice and sweet potatoes. 

Kari Koko Zourit is an octopus curry cooked in coconut milk. There are many variations depending on the island. It is usually served with basmati rice or palm hearth salad.  

Ladob Banana is a popular, a delicious healthy dessert made from bananas cooked with coconut milk flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.

"Praslin Dream" ist der Name dieses herrlichen Seychellen-Segeltörns auf einem Katamaran, mit dem Sie 8 Tage und 7 Nächte die Seychellen von Ihrer wirklich schönsten Seite umfänglich kennenlernen und entdecken können. Abfahrt immer montags ab Mahé. Auf zu den absolut weltbesten Sandstränden und den schönsten Schnorchelspots!

Wichtiger Hinweis zum Preisverständnis: Die angegebene Preise beziehen sich auf 2 Personen und gelten pro Nacht, inkl. Vollpension. 1. Tag (Montag): Mahé - St. Anne Marine Park Morgens gehen wir in Mahé, Angel Fish Marina, Roche Caiman, Victoria, an Bord. Geankert wird im Saint Anne Marine Park an einer idyllischen und ruhigen Stelle, um zu schnorcheln. Hier verbringen wir auch die Nacht. 2. Tag (Dienstag): St. Anne Marine Park – Cocos Island – La Digue Nach dem Mittagessen schnorcheln wir vor Cocos Island, der Robinson-Crusoe-Insel schlechthin. Nicht nur an Land, sondern auch unter Wasser ist Cocos Island durch sein Fischreichtum ein wahres Highlight. Wir ankern vor dem malerischen Hafen von La Digue. 3. Tag (Mittwoch): La Digue Mieten Sie sich ein Fahrrad, um diese schöne Insel zu erkunden. Im Schatten der hohen Palmen, entlang an mit Palmblättern gedeckten Häusern kommen Sie zu den absoluten Traumstränden mit ihren wie poliert wirkenden Granitfelsen. Hier liegt auch die Anse de Source d'Argent, der schönste Strand der Welt. Geankert wird vor dem Hafen von La Digue. 4. Tag (Donnerstag): La Digue – Cousin – Baie St. Anne (Praslin) Zunächst besuchen wir Cousin Island. Diese Insel ist seit 1968 ein Naturreservat Vogelschutzgebiet, das seltene Vögel und einige Riesenschildkröten beherbergt. Am Nachmittag geht es weiter nach Praslin. Hier müssen Sie unbedingt den Nationalpark Vallée de Mai besuchen, der unter dem Schutz der UNESCO steht. Die Palmenbäume, an denen das Wahrzeichen der Seychellen wächst, die größte Kokosnuss der Erde, die „Coco de Mer“, wachsen hier. Wir ankern in der Baie St. Anne. 5. Tag (Freitag): Baie St. Anne – Grande Sœur - Curieuse – or Anse Petite Cour (Praslin) Grande Sœur besteht aus zwei steilen und steinigen Hügeln, die durch eine kleine Kokosnussplantage verbunden sind. Hier grillen wir am Strand, besuchen die Insel und haben verschiedene Möglichkeiten für Wassersport. Übernachtet wird bei Curieuse oder der Anse Petite Cour. 6. Tag (Samstag): Curieuse – Saint Pierre – Anse Volbert oder Anse Lazio (Praslin) Die Insel Curieuse ist Teil des Marine Nationalparks und Lebensraum von mehr als 100 Schildkröten. Nach dem Mittagessen geht es weiter zur kleinen Felseninsel Saint Pierre, ein millionenfach fotografiertes Motiv! Auch an dieser Stelle sollten Sie sich die einmalige Unterwasserwelt nicht entgehen lassen. Geankert wird in Anse Volbert oder Anse Lazio. 7. Tag (Sonntag): Anse Volbert oder Anse Lazio (Praslin) – Mahé Der Morgen steht für Wassersportaktivitäten, oder auch zum Entspannen an einem der schönsten Strände von Praslin zur freien Verfügung. Am Nachmittag geht es zurück nach Mahé. 8.Tag (Montag): Ausschiffung auf Mahé am frühen Morgen. Im Preis beinhalten: Unterkunft in Doppel-Kabinen mit eigener Dusche/WC & Klimaanlage (von 8 bis 22 Uhr). Der Segeltörn wird ab dem 04.03.2024 nicht mehr stattfinden. An Bord werden keine EC/Kreditkarten akzeptiert. Nur Barzahlung in Euro, US$ oder Seychellen-Rupie ist möglich. Die Bezahlung mit Kreditkarte ist in der Dream Yacht Basis auf Eden Island möglich. Obligatorische "Destination Fee"(Zielgebietsgebühr) muss im Voraus bei Buchung bezahlt werden: 250 €/Person (263 €/Person ab 06.01.2025) Die "Destination Fee" deckt anfallende Ausgaben wie z.B. Nationalparkeintrittsgebühren, Touristensteuern, Lande-/Liegeplatzgebühren und sonstige Aufwendungen. Nach der Buchung des Segeltörns muss eine Kopie des Reisepasses aller Passagiere vorgelegt werden. Wenn die Kopie des Reisepasses nicht mindestens eine Woche vor der Abfahrt vorgelegt wird, berechnet Dream Yacht eine Gebühr von 150€. Die Besatzung ist nur für die Reinigung der öffentlichen Bereiche zuständig. Während des Törns findet keine Reinigung der Kabinen und Nasszellen statt. Passagiere dürfen keine eigenen Getränke mit an Bord bringen. Kinder sind erst ab einem Alter von 6 Jahren gestattet, zahlen aber den vollen Erwachsenenpreis. Die Eltern sind verantwortlich. Wir empfehlen, dass sie schwimmen können, aber nicht unbedingt. Bitte beachten Sie, dass der Reiseablauf sich je nach Wind- und Wetterbedingungen ändern kann. Es ist außerdem möglich, dass das Segel bei widrigen Wetterbedingungen nicht gehisst werden kann und stattdessen der Motor benutzt wird. Alle Entscheidungen obliegen dem Kapitän. Der Schiffseigentümer behält sich das Recht vor, nach eigenem und absolutem Ermessen ein anderes Schiff für die Kreuzfahrt zuzuweisen, das eine Unterkunft von ähnlicher Größe und Komfort mit gleicher oder ähnlicher Ausstattung bietet. Die Kreuzfahrten werden in der Regel auf Katamaranen von 54 bis 62 Fuß durchgeführt, die 12 Gäste aufnehmen können. Falls die zugewiesene(n) Yacht(en) deutlich kleiner ist/sind, wird die Anzahl der Passagiere an Bord jedes Schiffes entsprechend reduziert. Auf der "Dream 60" ist eine Belegung mit 3 Personen auf Anfrage möglich. Der Extra Bett Zuschlag für die dritte Person variiert je nach Abfahrtsdatum und beträgt zwischen 76€ und 100€ pro Tag.

Unser Boot „Jamaica“ war schon etwas abgenutzt und hatte so seine Probleme. Wir waren ein gutes Team an board und hatten eine super Zeit.

Die Yacht war ein besonderes Highlight der Reise. Alles sehr sauber, das Essen fantastisch, der Koch supernett. Der Rest der Crew war freundlich aber zurückhaltend und manchmal wäre ein zusätzliches Lächeln noch schön gewesen. Die Ziele waren sehr gut ausgesucht und an Bord war immer Plätzchen zum Alleinsein oder zum Unterhalten. Etwas mehr Infos vor den Ausflügen hätte manchen Stress erspart. Wir hatten Glück mit dem Wetter und dementsprechend war es sehr ruhig und einfach wunderschön.

A Guide to Praslin, the Seychelles' Second-Biggest Island

Praslin, the Seychelles ’ second-biggest island, was once a hideaway for pirates and seafaring traders. But today the picturesque island nation is famed for having some of the world’s most beautiful beaches and the largest seed in the world – the rare and endemic coco de mer – a natural icon of the island.

Praslin – pronounced with a silent ‘s’, in French – is the second biggest of the Seychelles’ three inner granitic islands, after Mahé, which is a mere 15-minute flight or hour-long Cat Cocos ferry ride away. It was named Iles des Palmes , meaning island of palms, by 18th-century French explorer Lazare Picault after the large palm forests that blanket the island. To this day, Praslin remains synonymous with the Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve , home to the world’s largest and heaviest seed, which can weigh up to 25kg (55lb), and sells for an average of around £400 depending on size.

Spot rare plants and animals

The Seychellois call the rare coco de mer (coconut of the sea) the love nut for its double-lobed shape that resembles a woman’s lower body. And as you wander around the Unesco-designated nature reserve along its three easy walking routes that vary between one and two kilometres (0.6mi-1.2mi), keep an eye out for the Seychelles’ national bird: the black parrot. Just like the coco de mer , this dark brown collared bird is endemic to this archipelago.

Visit a nature reserve

The 122ha (300 acre) Fond Ferdinand Nature Reserve on the northwest side of Praslin is less busy, much cheaper – about a quarter of the price, which includes the services of a park guide – and six times larger than its more popular counterpart. The two- to three-hour walking trail to the lookout point takes you past the double-lobed coconut you’ve come all this way to see. But it also offers spectacular views of powdery white beaches contrasted with cobalt blue waters and luscious indigenous forests. Curieuse, Sister, Coco, Round, Felicité and La Digue islands all float in one direction; while Frégate, Mahé and Silhouette run in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean in the other direction.

Visit the small island of Curieuse

Next, take a short ferry ride between bobbing yachts to the tiny red-coloured island of Curieuse, which makes up part of the Curieuse Marine National Park, just off the northern coastline. Despite being shorter than 3km (2mi), Curieuse is an important nesting site for the island’s free-roaming Aldabra giant tortoises, which can weigh up to 40kg (88lb) and measure 1.3m (4.3ft) in length. Walk the 1.5km (0.9mi) boardwalk trail between Baie Laraie and Anse St. José and you will get a closer look at this marine ecosystem, and as you continue through the thick mangrove forest, you’ll see crabs scuttling for cover and tropical fish navigating the root networks.

Indulge in local food

A Creole-infused seafood feast beckons you back to Praslin, where La Pirogue Restaurant and Bar serves up a multitude of traditional meals that are influenced by the archipelago’s background. You’ll find a mixture of cultural influences from Arab traders and French seafarers to Portuguese explorers to Tamil and Chinese merchants, and the British.

Any traditional Seychellois menu offers the chance to indulge in an array of flavours and spices. From the lemon-and-turmeric shark chutney ( satiti requin ) to the coconut milk-infused seafood curry, dhal, saffron rice and palm heart salad ( salad palmis ) served with ladob – served hot or cold, this dessert is made of breadfruit cooked in coconut milk, vanilla and nutmeg to create a creamy pudding.

Sunbathe and snorkel

Once satiated, it’s off to sunbathe and snorkel in the warm aquamarine waters of Anse Lazio Beach , known for its stunning postcard views. This crescent-shaped narrow stretch of beach – sprinkled with granite boulders on either side and lined with palm trees and indigenous vegetation – has been voted one of the world’s ten most beautiful beaches.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Pleasantly surprised, service is good so is the food. Great selection of Fusion food, a mixture of Italian, Japanese, European, Asian etc. A pleasantly nice dining experience, highly recommended, a must try!

Best food, best view in Moscow. absolutely faultless from arrival to finish. Best risotto i had for many years absolutely perfectly cooked. The view on Ukrainian hotel and the white house by night is amazing

Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Food is very expensive,very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More

This is a very good restaurant. The food is really good, maybe the best in Moscow. The service is also good. The view from the restaurant is great. The prices are very high.

I often visit this restaurant and must say it’s one of the best in Moscow in terms of quality and service. Staff really try hard to make sure that you are happy and satisfied. Customer service is a huge problem in Moscow but Chaika sets... a great example for others in the industry! Food is delicious and the menu has lots of options for everyone! Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More

The luxurious atmosphere of this place, the view and the location make it quite outstanding. We had dinner here with friends and the dishes were amazing, accompanied by a chilled bottle of Chablis, it really made me feel as if it was a part of... the classic Russian movie. More
