Damen Yachting is proud to announce the launch of their latest Yacht Support YS5302. The launch of this 53-metre Yacht Support, the second from the YS53 design series, took place in Antalya, Turkey, in the presence of her delighted Owner who used this build milestone to officially unveil this Yacht Support’s name, FIVE OCEANS.All those present at the Damen Yachting build facility in Antalya were treated to a much anticipated first look at this Yacht Support’s unique colour scheme out in the open for the first time. Her striking sky-blue hull visually aligns with the ambitious and bold programme this support yacht will undertake, honouring the connection to the oceans she will serve and inspired by the Owner’s passion for motor racing.

Rob Dolling, Founder & CEO at VERPEKA DOLLING Superyachts, the Monaco-based yacht sales and charter company, proudly assisted the Owner with the sale, project managed the build on the Owner’s side and will manage the vessel’s onward operation, commented, “This new, next generation Yacht Support platform is very well thought out and engineered, presenting the perfect platform for the ambitious global plans the Owner has for FIVE OCEANS. All our requests and changes, some admittedly quite elaborate, were always well received and seamlessly integrated with precision into the impressive end result.”

Much of the details linked to the build of YS5302 have been surrounded by secrecy with little information being made available. Recently Owner Tommy Allen shared a little insight into the plans he has with YS53 FIVE OCEANS as part of the Damen Yachting YS Insider series. Tommy Allen is the Founder and Director of Five Oceans Global Solutions. His dedication to cutting-edge technology and marine exploration, while actively working towards preserving the marine environment, will form part of the programme Allen has in store for YS53 FIVE OCEANS. “You can sleep on it, fly off of it and move it. For us the Yacht Support is a platform that enables us to do all the incredible things we wanted to do,” Tommy Allen, Owner YS53 FIVE OCEANS.

YS53 FIVE OCEANS incorporates two decades of successful Yacht Support experience, showcasing a deep understanding of high-end yacht operations, global adventure lifestyles, and outstanding technical solutions. Jan van Hogerwou, Commercial Executive at Damen Yachting, has worked with the Owner on this project since the outset. “We are proud to be launching this very special 53-metre Yacht Support today. Damen Yachting launches Five Oceans

The second yacht support 53 has hit the water at damen yachting's antalya shipyard….

The 53m Five Oceans (YS5302) is the lastest in Damen Yachting's Yacht Support 53 range. It has naval architecture, interior and exterior design from Damen Yachting and is designed to carry eight guests and 10 crew. This is the second hull in the series, with the first, Bad Company Support , launched in 2022.

“You can sleep on it, fly off of it and move it. For us the Yacht Support is a platform that enables us to do all the incredible things we wanted to do,” comments Tommy Allen, Owner YS53 Five Oceans . For the full interview with Mr Allen, please see the Damen Yachting YS Insider series below.

Since acquiring Amels in 1991, the Damen family has continued to invest in its yacht building business, which is today a cornerstone of its iconic shipbuilding group.

Taking over his father’s shipyard in 1969 with six employees, Kommer Damen has grown the business into Damen Shipyards Group, the world’s leading specialist shipbuilder with 12,000 employees and 35 shipyards around the globe. Damen builds everything from navy ships to tug boats. To this day, Damen remains a family-owned business.

Rose Damen, a third generation family shareholder, is Managing Director of Damen Yachting.

Damen Yachting

Damen Yachting is the master yacht builder behind more than 100 Amels superyachts, SeaXplorer expedition yachts, Yacht Support vessels and major yacht refits. We have a rich history in luxury yacht building. In 2018 we celebrated 100 years of Amels and we can trace the maritime DNA at our yards back for centuries. Amels became part of Damen in 1991 and Damen Yachting, a division within the Damen Shipyards Group, was created in 2019.

Yacht Support Range

Yacht Support vessels from our innovative range are purpose built to support superyacht operations – for example submarines, helicopters and large tenders and toys. Our innovative approach combines our proven shipbuilding knowhow with our experience in luxury yachting. Since 2009, we have delivered many Yacht Support vessels from 45 to 70 metres in length to our clients around the world.

The disruptive innovation

Superyacht support is a growing phenomenon that is revolutionising luxury yachting. At Damen Yachting, we are proud to be leading this innovative solution for contemporary lifestyles.

Around 2005, we began developing this concept based on our successful SEA AXE hull form, an innovation developed and patented within the Damen Shipyards Group for our high-tech offshore services clients. In Yachting, we saw a new opportunity for the SEA AXE to lift our superyacht clients’ experiences to a higher level.

We delivered the first purpose-built 50-metre Yacht Support vessel to her owner in 2010. Named OBERON, she was quickly followed by UMBRA. We then began work on the first Yacht Support in the 70-metre segment, GARÇON.

Damen Yachting builds new 60-metre SeaXplorer expedition yacht on spec

Damen Yachting has revealed its latest addition to the SeaXplorer range of luxury expedition yachts. The first SeaXplorer 60, featuring hybrid propulsion, is now under construction for delivery in 2024. AS yet, there is no owner for the yacht.

After months of intensive design, the new SeaXplorer 60 is now fully engineered and steel cutting will take place at Damen Yachting’s building facility. By starting the SeaXplorer build up front, Damen Yachting is following its successful Amels Limited Editions approach by offering reliable, customisable luxury explorers with the shortest delivery times on the market.

‘Since introducing our SeaXplorer concept in 2015, Damen Yachting has become well-established as the luxury explorer leader,’says Rose Damen, managing director. ‘But we expect the future will see even more owners demanding the autonomy, safety and flexibility that the SeaXplorer offers. That’s why we decided to build the SeaXplorer 60 on spec for fast delivery in 2024. She is the only luxury explorer yacht available in her class and an amazing opportunity.’

Particulars and options

The new SeaXplorer design is a crossover innovation of Amels pedigree with Damen shipbuilding knowhow. At 1160 gross tonnage, the explorer yacht features large volume luxury interiors and lots of expedition capability, including wide customisation possibilities for tropical, polar and all sorts of adventures in between. Its particulars are:

• Length overall: 60.00 metres (197 ft)
• Beam overall (at hull): 11.00 metres (36 ft)
• Draught (full load): 3.60 metres
• Gross tonnage: 1160
• Maximum speed: 14.5 knots
• Range @ 11.5 knots: 5000 nautical miles
• Crew: 16 + Captain

The helideck, when not in use for helicopter operations, can be used as a 150 square-metre party deck, suitable for up to 100 guests or alternatively as a basketball half-court. Below the helideck, the SeaXplorer 60 has a flexible configuration for a big range of tenders up to 10.5 metres in length, a submarine, snowmobiles, jetskis or sailboats. The covered outdoor space, in total 195 square metres, offers the versatility to create a luxury cabana lounge and bar, dive deck, fitness and wellness zone or ski lodge, depending on the owner’s requirements.

Hybrid propulsion

Based on the SeaXplorer deliveries to date, the SeaXplorer 60 offers proven performance and value. Damen Yachting’s partner Azure Yacht Design created the exterior design. Together with its operational design partner, EYOS Expeditions, Damen Yachting has engineered the SeaXplorer with expedition experience from the field. The yacht has hybrid power and propulsion with battery banks, a fully certified helideck, Ice Class and IMO Polar Code compliant engineering. Its stores and tanks allow for up to thirty days of autonomous and safe operations in isolation without port call.

For the SeaXplorer 60’s luxury interiors, Damen Yachting asked designer Jonny Horsfield and his London-based team at H2 Design to create a custom concept. Damen Yachting takes care of the naval architecture.

The SeaXplorer 60 is the latest new build from the SeaXplorer range of luxury expedition yachts. The first SeaXplorer, 62-metre Anawa, was followed by 77-metre La Datcha in 2020 and by the custom 58-metre SeaXplorer in build for delivery to its owner in 2022.

Damen celebrates first double superyacht launch

Dutch boatbuilder Damen Yachting has celebrated the double launch of two new Amels Limited Editions superyachts in one day.

The 74-metre Amels 242 and the 60-metre Amels 200 both hit the water last week, marking the first time in Damen Yachting’s history that two superyachts have been launched on the same day.

Both semi-custom yachts have exteriors by designer Tim Heywood and interiors by Winch Design, independently selected by both owners.

The owner of the just-launched Amels 242, the eighth to hit the water, opted for a blue hull and an off-white superstructure with the various vertical lines and stretches of windows standing out in a unique dark grey colour, rather than the traditional all-white exterior palette.

Winch Design took the blue exterior colourway and incorporated it into multiple elements throughout the interior. As guests enter through the main entranceway, they are met with a wall of semi-precious agate blue stones. To match, there are various blue marbles onboard, as well as blue mosaics scattered through the wellness area.

Other features include a dedicated owner’s deck with a Jacuzzi, a large aft swimming pool, and a lower deck ‘wellness space’. Up to 12 guests can stay overnight in six staterooms.

“The owner wanted something different, and that is certainly what he has achieved, especially with the variety of marbles,” says Peter Dijkwel, project manager at Damen Yachting . “This Amels Limited Editions superyacht is a great testament to the range and its flexibility — we can make anything work with this platform.”

The yacht will be delivered on 1 June 2024.

As an evolution of the Amels 188, the Amels 200 has proven popular platform, and this vessel is the fourth hull to hit the water.

While on board, the owner and his family intend to work remotely and entertain friends and family. As a result, the owner added an additional balcony to the main deck and exterior bars on every deck.

This Amels 200 has a customised ‘Whisper Grey’ hull — a colour which is subtly repeated in the exterior curves and arches, particularly around the superstructure.

“This yacht perfectly reflects the owner’s unique vision,” explains Tom Oomkens, project manager at Damen Yachting . “There are many great details, for example, the windbreakers have been upgraded to feature a dark grey tone to mimic the windows. The owner had many exciting design ideas and is experienced, which benefitted the project hugely.”

There are over 50 Amels Limited Editions yachts at sea, and the yard says it is currently at full capacity.

A California philanthropist allegedly threatened to kill a dock worker during a heated argument from his multimillion-dollar yacht, before dropping his pants and making several threatening gestures to the employee.

Ajay Thakore, a local entrepreneur in the San Diego area, attempted to dock his Lamborghini yacht at the private Marriot Marquis Marina to pick up one of his employees but was stopped by worker Joseph Holt on Sunday.

“I told him respectfully that he couldn’t be there, and I honestly was hoping to have a conversation with him about his cool boat,” Holt told CBS8. “But yeah, it completely went the other way.”

Thakore, who goes by his social media name, Ace Rogers, was riding on his rare $4.5 million Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht at the time of the daytime dispute.

Holt claimed Thakore became hostile as soon as he was told off.

“It escalated immediately. It was 0 to 100 immediately,” the 21-year-old worker added.

Thakore, the CEO of medical advertising firm Doctor Multimedia, allegedly began to threaten Holt’s life as the luxury speedboat drove away from the docks.

“I will kill you, you know I will kill you, I will kill,” Thakore repeatedly yells, according to the video posted to YouTube.

Besides threatening to take Holt’s life, Thakore claimed to have the power to get the dock worker fired, ripping on the type of job he had.

“I’m a minimum wage worker, he was commenting on that, on my status just because of my job,” Holt said. “He was saying I’m nobody, I’m nothing, I work a silly job.”

“He said that he knows people, he has connections, he can change my life and ruin it,” he added.

During the heated discussion, Thakore allegedly pulled out his wallet and began throwing $100 bills at Holt and into the water, according to the outlet.

Holt said he tried to control himself during the incident and only gave Thakore the middle finger.

“I really didn’t know how to process it. I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird,” he said.

The dock hand blasted Thakore for his actions, especially in a public setting where he stripped nude and showed himself off.

“He had dropped his pants and started to make gestures to everybody watching and me. You can’t act that way in public. It’s just not OK. Especially threatening my life, at the very least. There were women and children there. That’s the most important part,” Holt said.

Thakore claims his outburst started because of a misunderstanding and was sorry for the people who saw it.

“The interaction that occurred yesterday was regrettable. What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange,” Thakore’s public relations team said in a statement, obtained by KFMB.

Port of San Diego Harbor Police were called to the Seaforth Boat rental dock for “a possible intoxicated vessel operator” but arrived at the marina 10 minutes after Thakore and his boat had left.

The employee who attempted to board the extravagant boat defended his boss’s actions, saying Holt was hostile toward Thakore, and the businessman was only defending his team.

“As I went to kindly step onto the Yacht, I was impeded by two members that work for Seaforth Boat Rental,” Thakore’s employee Jason said on a post to the CEO’s Instagram account.

Jason said he was told to “stand back” the first time he went to step on the boat, and claimed he was forearmed during his second attempt to board the yacht.

“They physically got in my way, the situation became fairly tense, there was a lot of screaming back and forth, extremely confrontational, I didn’t fully understand protocol, as I was going to step onto the boat.”

“As all of this happened, my boss flipped and he’s very protective of me, his fiancée, of his employees.” Jason added. “It was a confusing situation that became very tense and very confrontational.”

Thakore captioned the post saying “there are two sides to every story and it’s easy to paint a picture with edited video clips from cell phones.”

“My employee Jason was being restricted, restrained, and threatened while trying to board my yacht. As a leader, I defend my own fiercely with everything I have, and I will never apologize for that,” the caption read.

Who is Ajay Thakore? San Diego Lamborghini Yacht owner threatens dock worker in viral video

A n Indian-origin California business owner Ajay Thakore recently made headlines when he reportedly threatened a dockyard worker at San Diego's Marriott Marina after the latter refused to let the former park his $4.5 million Lamborghini Yacht, as per Times Now News.

The video of the incident has now gone viral online. While the face of the man threatening the dock employee saying "I will kill you!" multiple times remains unclear in the footage, many media outlets, including the New York Post confirmed it was Ajay Thakore, who has previously been part of similar confrontations.

Apart from threatening to kill the dock worker, the man in the video also flashed at the latter, as the yacht moved away from the marina. In the wake of this incident, here's looking at who Ajay Thakore is.

Ajay Thakore also goes by the name Ace Rogers

According to Daily Mail, Ajay Thakore also goes by the name Ace Rogers and he is a wealthy businessman and philanthropist based in San Diego, California. He is the CEO of Doctor Multimedia, a local medical marketing agency, and Gopher Media LLC.

He has previously faced similar controversy in 2021 when he was accused of harassing the employees of a La Jolla pizza joint called American Pizza Manufacturing. Its founder Andrew Melone alleged back then that it all started with Thakore defaming the take-and-bake pizza establishment on social media.

However, things escalated when the Indian-origin business owner reportedly parked two of his cars directly in front of the eatery, blocking its entrance, with texts, "Take N Bake Pizza Sucks" glaring on top of it.

Melone also claimed that an airplane flew over the locality with the banner reading, "Just Say No to Take N Bake Pizza." Not only that but Ajay Thakore reportedly involved another pizzeria in the area Carino's, with planes displaying messages like "Carino's Pizza is Better than Take N Bake."

Additionally, Thakore and his companies filed a $10 million lawsuit against Andrew Melone and his public accusations, claiming that they were "exercising their First Amendment Rights" and protesting against discrimination. The owner of the pizzeria countersued, alleging Thakore had persistently harassed him and his company. The two civil lawsuits are still underway.

Exploring the recent controversy surrounding Ajay Thakore

On the afternoon of March 10, 2024, Ajay Thakore's multimillion-dollar Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht was not allowed to park in the Seaforth Boat Rental lot in San Diego's Marriott Marina. He was reportedly there to pick up an employee. The video of the incident has now gone viral.

It shows a man standing on the edge of the yacht threatening to "kill" the worker identified as Joseph Holt, as per CBS 8. Later, as the boat moved away from the dock, the former dropped his pants and made inappropriate gestures toward the 21-year-old employee. The harasser even threw $100 bills at the guy which fell into the water.

Holt told reporters that he "respectfully" told the driver not to park in the private space and was hoping to have a "conversation" with him about his "cool boat," when "it completely went the other way."

"I really didn't know how to process it. I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird," Holt stated.

The employee also mentioned how Thakore berated him for his minimum wage labor and called him a nobody who did nothing on a "silly job." The expensive boat owner allegedly threatened to have him fired using his "connections" and ruin his life.

The dock worker further continued,

"He had dropped his pants and started to make gestures to everybody watching and me. You can't act that way in public. It's just not okay. Especially threatening my life, at the very least. There were women and children there. That's the most important part."

In contrast, Ajay Thakore's public relations team told CBS 8 that the "interaction" was "regrettable."

"What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange," the statement added.

Later, Ajay Thakore's employee Jason, whom the former was supposed to pick up during the fiasco, also issued a clarification via his boss' Instagram (@acerogersceo). He said that he was not allowed to get aboard, and was asked to "stand back" and even "forearmed" which is when Thakore allegedly "flipped" as he was protective of him, his fiancé, and his other employees, tagging it as a long-drawn misunderstanding.

In the caption of the post, it was Ajay Thakore who seemed to issue a statement:

"As a leader, I defend my own fiercely with everything I have, and I will never apologize for that. You can choose to believe that I just pulled up to the dock and started yelling, or you can realize that a lot happened before the cameras were rolling and that it takes two sides to escalate a situation."

Notably, in the aftermath of the incident, Port of San Diego Harbor Police were called in, who arrived 10 minutes after Ajay Thakore's boat left the marina. Joseph Holt told the news outlet that the officers didn't take his complaints seriously and were even laughing at him.

The department responded by telling CBS 8 that they were called in to deal with a "possible intoxicated vessel operator" who had departed the area before they got there and that they were unable to do anything with. The statement went on to say that a report had been made and that the police had spoken with the complainant and witnesses.
