Food is an art here at the Montauk Lake Club, therefore we offer a superbly fresh and continually evolving menu with an emphasis on inventive seafood and grilled dishes prepared with subtle global influences. Our menus consist of staple “Montauk” items including an array of dishes comprised of local seasonal vegetables and locally caught fish uniquely prepared and presented.

A generous continental breakfast is served daily for members and their guests. During July and August, an extensive full hot breakfast is available on Saturdays and Sundays. Brunch is served on Sundays only, along side our a la carte lunch menu.

Lunch & Dinner is served daily for members and their guests from June through September and on weekends during the spring and fall. We do not offer dinner service on Tuesday nights all season long.

Star Island Grill’s Menus

Star Island Grill features a lunch and dinner menu that includes the freshest local seafood, the best hamburgers, barbecue items and home-style dinners. Dockage is also available during lunch and dinner. Star Island Grill offers a full breakfast menu for all fishermen who want to get something to eat before going out to sea. If they catch  anything, the fishermen can have the chefs at Star Island Grill prepare and cook the fish and serve it to the angler’s liking.

A part of the Montauk community for over 80 years, The Montauk Yacht Club was built in 1928 by Carl Fisher when he dreamed his dream of Montauk becoming a seaside resort for the rich and famous. A few of the original members included the Astors, Whitneys and Vanderbuilts. Lindenburgh visited via his sea plane, and the Villas were once part of an estate owned by Ziegfield. Today the property includes: 106 Guest Rooms including 23 Villas and 2 Suites, as well as an Award Winning Marina, two restaurants and lounges, meeting and event Facilities,  a Spa and fitness center, Tennis Courts, a heated indoor and two outdoor pools, Sail Montauk Sailing School, Charter Fishing, Surf and Paddleboard instruction as well as other watersports and games courts, a children’s Playground and game room, and complimentary bicycles or a shuttle to explore Montauk.

Need a little pampering? The full-service Montauk spa pampers guests with soothing massages and facials as well as body wraps and nail services. Is sailing your pleasure, or have you always wanted to try it? Sail Montauk is also located at the MYC Marina offering a variety of sailing opportunities. Their sailing trips are hands on, allowing you to do as much or as little as you please. Take the tiller or sit back and relax with a cool beverage in hand. Enjoy a romantic sunset sail for two, or register for a private lesson and learn how to handle a Catalina 22. Obviously a visit to the Yacht Club has something for everyone. In addition to the lovely grounds and amenities their dining areas offer delicious choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner, or even a drink and a snack out at the bar, by the pool overlooking the marina.

The Coast Kitchen is a nautical Hampton casual style indoor dining area with a spectacular view of the grounds and marina. New Executive Chef Paul O’Shea has designed a southern influenced menu with farm to table, local seafood and organic themes. Working from his own fresh herb garden the dishes are bursting with fresh herbal flavors bringing forth the individual tastes of the fish, pasta, or beef creations.

On the evening of our visit, we shared a number of dishes that had a unique, creative spin utilizing local produce and seafood. The Jalapeno Ice Cream that accompanies the Lump Crab Cake with Fig and Sriracha Aioli is spicy yet a perfect accent for the crab. Spiced Tuna with MTK Beer glaze, pickled ginger onion, and sea lettuce was tender and perfectly seared. The Adobo Beef Carpaccio looks as delectable as it tastes and was the final starter we enjoyed; Seared Angus Tenderloin layered with avocado, red onion, chives and Citrus White Truffle Aioli made for a delicate dish.

Offering four different and creative local produce salads, we chose the Organic Roasted Beets served atop a bed of goat cheese and drizzled with aged balsamic. The freshness of the sweet beets made this salad delicious.

As we enjoyed the starters and the lovely view of the Harbor at night through the glass doors of the dining room we sipped on a few of their Specialty Cocktail creations. The Ginger Gimlet, Elderflower Sprits, The Guppie, and the Boaters Boulvadier each combines a variety of ingredients resulting in tasty flavorful drinks.  In addition to the specialty cocktails, they offer a complete list of wines by the glass and/or bottle, and beer.

For dinner we tried to hit a variety of fare to get a true sampling of the menu. The Pappardelle with an added sautéed Softshell Crab was our pasta choice and it did not disappoint. With braised Portabella and Shitake mushrooms, spinach, roast pepper, chive and tossed with a slightly thick yet not heavy garlic cream sauce this dish was amazing.

Charred New York Strip Steak cooked perfectly to order in a Cabernet Demi and Chimichurri drizzle, and surrounded by a lovely array of roasted Brussel Sprouts, Heirloom Carrots and chunky White Truffle Cheddar Mashed Potatoes is a steak lovers treat. For the seafood enthusiast, the menu offers five choices each sounding absolutely delicious. After some debate, we decided on the Tilefish Pomodoro and the Yacht Club Shark – what great choices they were.  Herb seared, light, flaky and perched on Risotto with garlic tomato basil sauce and a side of asparagus, the Tilefish Pomodoro is spectacular. As is the Mako which is seasoned and gently charred and served with pineapple ginger curry over leafy greens and soba noodles; an excellent combination of flavors.

The entire staff including our waiter Fatlind and the restaurant manager James were accommodating and friendly, while their new Executive Chef Paul O’Shea certainly created us a lovely meal.  O’Shea was born in Dublin, Ireland and also attended culinary school there. He has years of experience including restaurants in London, as a private chef in Beverly Hills, and all over the USA working many convention centers and opening numerous restaurants. He is thrilled to be in Montauk and working with a great team of chefs here at the Montauk Yacht Club.

In addition to the Coast Kitchen the outdoor dining area The Alley and the Deck offers a bit more casual cuisine and setting. Looking for a hearty breakfast before setting out for your day’s adventure or an afternoon snack or lunch this laid-back indoor/outdoor location is perfect. The friendly MTK restaurant specializes in home-style cooking for breakfast, all-day lunch, and dinner.

The sand is not the only addition to long island’s east end this summer.

With summer well underway, it’s time for New Yorkers to escape the heat and head to the Hamptons . Montauk is as stunning as ever after the latest Fire Island to Montauk Point project, which restored 83 miles of Long Island’s southern shoreline. The 450,000 cubic yards of sand used to replenish the eroded beach and dunes provides the ultimate beach-going experience. But the sand isn’t the only thing that’s new in Montauk. Here are the latest openings out east .

Where to Stay

The freshly renovated Montauk Yacht Club is the one-stop destination in the Hamptons. With its own private beach and the addition of a restaurant, spa, market, and storefront, there’s no need to leave the beautifully manicured property. Located on Star Island, the historic resort spanning 35 acres is now part of Proper Hospitality within The Collective. Boasting the largest marina in the Hamptons, the Montauk Yacht Club has stunning views of the water and superyachts that you can admire from the property’s Ocean Club Montauk .

Under the direction of Chef Jarad McCarroll, the destination’s new restaurant features modern indoor and outdoor spaces, dishes that utilize South African grilling techniques, and an extensive cocktail menu with fun summer spritzes. With two pools, Linus bikes, tennis and padel courts, the resort offers something for everyone, including a La Prairie Spa for those looking for some relaxation and luxe facial treatments using the brand’s Skin Caviar and Platinum Rare Collections.

Where to Eat

A pitstop on Montauk Highway, Shark Bar has tropical drinks in tiki glasses and a twist on classic summer dishes. From the team behind the upscale Mavericks Montauk, Vanessa Price and Jeremy Blutstein have perfected the local fish sandwich and the famed BBC frozen cocktail as well as the campy beach bar aesthetic, sporting vibrant turquoise walls decorated with surf memorabilia and photographs from French photographer Jean-Philippe Piter.

For a traditional Italian meal head to Monte’s at the Manor , serving classic dishes from linguini vongole to chicken parmesan in a cozy restaurant complete with red leather banquets and framed family photos. Former owners of Gurney’s, the Monte family has called Montauk home for over 100 years, and the warmth and hospitality exudes from the restaurant, tucked away in the Tudor-style national landmark, Montauk Manor. Their famed tomato sauce is a must and served perfectly with melted mozzarella in the spot’s signature “Stretch” appetizer.

Backyard Restaurant at Solé East

The Backyard Restaurant at Solé East has been refreshed by designer Stephane Depoux and now includes a handsome bar and chic outdoor furnishings overlooking the lush garden and pool of the charming hotel. This hidden oasis offers a relaxing atmosphere to have a drink or nosh on local seafood and farm-to-table produce, all prepared with a Mediterranean and South American influence.

Where to See Art

Brazilian-born artist The o Pinto has taken over The Surf Lodge with his iridescent series “Skyscapes.” Using the sunset as a muse, this exploration of light is showcased throughout The Surf Lodge property—even its new Mediterranean and Asian fusion restaurant concept, Casa Sereña. Pinto created a 40-foot-long curved wall that is the centerpiece for the Surf Lodge ’s famed DJ sets and concerts. “This work invites viewers to experience the sky as a shared moment, a common denominator that unites people across time and space, both physically and cosmically,” explains Pinto, who also created a limited-edition surfboard made from the same lenticular materials emulating the ever-changing hues of the sunset.

Head over to Montauk Beach House for its rotating photography exhibitions of trending photographers Jesse Frohman, Ruvan Wijesooriya, and Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. This lobby exhibition space, led by Montauk Beach House’s creative director Walt Lindveld, brings some Rock n’ Roll to the Hamptons.

Where to Shop

Dolce & Gabbana collaborated with Gurney ’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa for its first-ever beachfront takeover in the United States. The resort’s Beach Club has been draped in the rich blue and white Blu Mediterraneo and Majolica prints, adorning the umbrellas, cabanas, beach chairs, and linens, while the East Deck houses a luxury pop-up shop featuring a curated selection of Dolce&Gabbana ready-to-wear and beach accessories. At the end of your visit, you may have a hard time deciphering the East Coast from the Amalfi Coast.
