Compliance status
Screen-reader and keyboard navigation.
- Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all of the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website. These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
- Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside of it.Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
Disability profiles supported in our website
- Epilepsy Safe Mode: this profile enables people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures that result from flashing or blinking animations and risky color combinations.
- Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adjusts the website for the convenience of users with visual impairments such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.
- Cognitive Disability Mode: this mode provides different assistive options to help users with cognitive impairments such as Dyslexia, Autism, CVA, and others, to focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.
- ADHD Friendly Mode: this mode helps users with ADHD and Neurodevelopmental disorders to read, browse, and focus on the main website elements more easily while significantly reducing distractions.
- Blindness Mode: this mode configures the website to be compatible with screen-readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. A screen-reader is software for blind users that is installed on a computer and smartphone, and websites must be compatible with it.
- Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor-Impaired): this profile enables motor-impaired persons to operate the website using the keyboard Tab, Shift+Tab, and the Enter keys. Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
Additional UI, design, and readability adjustments
- Font adjustments – users, can increase and decrease its size, change its family (type), adjust the spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
- Color adjustments – users can select various color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds, with over 7 different coloring options.
- Animations – epileptic users can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Animations controlled by the interface include videos, GIFs, and CSS flashing transitions.
- Content highlighting – users can choose to emphasize important elements such as links and titles. They can also choose to highlight focused or hovered elements only.
- Audio muting – users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the entire website instantly.
- Cognitive disorders – we utilize a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
- Additional functions – we provide users the option to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.

The Georgia Queen and Savannah Riverboat Cruises
Savannah riverboat cruises’: the georgia queen..
It is a 1,000-passenger riverboat that traveled 2,800 miles down the Mississippi River, down and around the shorelines of Florida to call Savannah her home.
The Georgia Queen is a great way to see the city and is one of the most unique social gathering destinations in Savannah, but its impact on local tourism and economic development will be substantial with the added ability to attract large conferences and conventions.”
Built in 1995 as a luxury floating casino for 14 million dollars, the majestic 1800s paddlewheel-style riverboat spent several years traveling the Mississippi River. When gambling legislation changed, allowing land-based casinos to open, the riverboat underwent a four-million-dollar makeover. Today, this spectacular paddlewheel-style riverboat acts as Savannah Riverboat Cruises’ Savannah River Queen’s grand sister ship.
The Georgia Queen measures an impressive 230 feet long, 64 feet wide and towering at 68 feet tall.
She is among the top elite in the country with a capacity of 1,000 passengers, plus a 200-person crew, making her the size of a small cruise ship at 38,000 square feet. The ship’s entertainment spaces include three grand ballrooms with over 15,000 square feet of dining space. It offers more than 5,000 square feet of open-air top deck space with patio seating. This affords more than enough room to accommodate a romantic riverboat wedding on the Savannah River.
The Georgia Queen also boasts a multi-deck, fully equipped gourmet kitchen. It is also equipped with a large service elevator, making traveling between galleys discrete and easy. This onboard kitchen will change the entire dining experience for guests. This will allow for more plated dinner opportunities and flexibility in menu items.
“Experiencing Savannah from our beautiful riverfront is such a unique experience,” Visit Savannah President Joseph Marinelli said.
“Savannah Riverboat’s guests are treated to refreshing breezes, fun entertainment, and some of the best southern cuisine Savannah offers. They can view Georgia’s oldest city as her founders did many years ago when they arrived by river in 1733. Jonathan and his team have been providing unforgettable narrated tours of Savannah’s harbor for 25 years. The Georgia Queen is a game-changer for their business. It will be another valuable asset to the thriving tourism and hospitality offerings of Savannah.”

- Climber45978056037 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Interesting cruise and history lesson. Nice cruise with history to go with. It was a bit rainy for most of the cruise so it was a bit crowded inside. Arrive early to get window seating. Read more Written February 26, 2024
- frazierb2024 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great way to learn about the "Old-Time Charm" of Savannah in a relaxed way. Highly recommend this riverboat tour to see Savannah from the water! You will learn about the action of the Savannah port and also about the military forts surrounding Savannah and the city's role in the Civil War. Definitely recommend if you are a huge history buff! My mom and I loved the old-school charm of the actual Riverboat and we had a gorgeous weather day, so we really enjoy sitting on the top deck and getting to see the scenery and wildlife around us. The narrator of the boat tour is an aspiring actor in Savannah, so he was extremely entertaining with his story telling and history narration about the city and even kept it light with a few jokes and pop-culture tidbits! I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a sit back and relax activity, while you also learn a ton! Plus, there is a great concessions stand on the boat where you can order drinks and food from. You may even see some beautiful wildlife too while on the boat as dolphins are a popular sight in the river! There is a live cannon blast as the boat passes Old Fort Jackson down the river, so make sure to bring ear-plugs if you are sensitive to that. The tour guide gave us plenty of warning before it happened, but it still caught us off guard. Another thing to note is to get in line earlier rather than later for the boat ride because the seating is first come, first serve, and they have backward facing seats if you want to avoid those. Although, the boat is moving at a pace that isn't upsetting for people prone to motion-sickness (aka my mom!). Read more Written February 25, 2024
- 642sasha 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Skip the Valentine’s Day cruise I took the Valentine’s Day cruise which was overpriced. It was $143 with tax per person. The service should have been better based on that price. I requested vinaigrette dressing for my salad because they did not put any dressing on the salad. The waitress ignored me and I asked her several times. It seemed like such a simple request, but apparently it wasn’t. The food was average not worth more than $20. The entertainment was mediocre. I would not recommend anyone to pay for the Valentines Day cruise. The views at night was the best part of this cruise. Read more Written February 19, 2024

- elaineaB9765RX 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Not a Sternwheeler Depends on what you're expecting...Despite the pictures on the web and brochure, the riverboat was not a sternwheeler. Enjoyed being on the water, but the narration was difficult to hear. As other reviewers stated, the views are primarily industrial. Other river traffic is interesting to see, but not a scenic nature cruise. Read more Written February 10, 2024
- taber 0 contributions 2.0 of 5 bubbles Disappointing Cruise Very disappointing experience. A waste of money. We thought we were going of a paddle wheeler boat but it wasn't, there was no paddle wheel. There were only 2 speakers on the main deck of the boat so we could not hear the commentary. There wasn't really anything to look at while you sat on the boat. The windows were dirty. We did pass by a fort but could not hear any information about it. Read more Written February 3, 2024
- avantikaw2023 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Save your Money Savannah Riverboat Cruises are an overpriced touist trap. We really regret purchasing this experience, and would not recommend it to others. We participated in the Sunday Brunch on New Years Day. The food was awful; lukewarm, poorly made, with very limited options. Although we had paid more for our tickets, we were the last to be served. It was utter chaos, with very little attentiveness and poor communication given to our party. The staff were unhelpful and rude, and poorly dressed with stained uniforms. The announcer/captain was obnoxious, with sophmoric humor sprinkled with shoutouts to corporate sponsors like Walmart. When you purchase your tickets, know that you are paying for a novelty Savannah experience. There is so much that this city has to offer. I would avoid this experience at all costs, and invest your time at one of the many lovely resturants or rooftop bars located throughout the city. This was a huge disappointment for our family. I recommend the cruise for family gatherings. The food was good and our server was exceptionally nice. The one thing that I truly appreciated was the people at the buffet served the food to the customer. I love the safety steps they are doing to prevent the spread of viruses. I suggest when you book your dinner cruise that you request window seats. Read more Written January 7, 2024
- JacqWilliams 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Disappointed Vegan My husband and I were excited to attend the New Year's Eve Gala Cruise on the Georgia Queen Riverboat. As a vegan, I called in advance to ensure that I would have meal options. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the limited options provided during the event. Despite being told that the staff would be able to accommodate my dietary restrictions, I was only able to eat two of the courses which were both salads and the main meal was a spoonful of overcooked quinoa over asparagus which looked like a plate of slop, see picture below. This made me feel singled out as an outcast. Considering the high price of the tickets, I feel that the advertisements should clearly state if there are no vegan options or there should be a price adjustment. Paying $250 for a plate of iceberg lettuce and strawberries is unfair. I believe that a refund or some other type of accommodation is deserved in this situation. I must say that the staff serving the food were all very nice and should be applauded. Read more Written January 4, 2024

- MontanaEjp 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Do not recommend this overpriced cruise with little to learn Not worth the money! Do NOT recommend. We purchased tickets assuming it was an amazing cruise because we have always seen the ship docked on the river. Pros: We saw quite a few dolphins, a bald eagle flying overhead, it was a beautiful day to spend some time outside. The narrator was funnier toward the end. Cons: Very expensive to see docked ships and not really much else. Savannah is full of rich history and the stories, information, or facts that was shared was minimal. Such a shame. But if the tour has to pair with what you see around the ship, it makes sense. Nothing to see aside from some ships and tug boats and the River front. Narration was boring. I couldn’t hear half of it depending on where you were standing on the top deck. It was clear as day if you were inside but who wants to sit inside on a beautiful day? I wish I had read the reviews instead of assuming it was wonderful! Read more Written January 1, 2024
- Voyage690733 0 contributions 2.0 of 5 bubbles Not impressed! We did the New Year's Eve Party cruise. The experience was mediocre, live music provided was okay. The dance floor was busy, even crowded at points. I think most people had a okay time. The food however was not up to par, and serviced buffet style. Bar service was horrible, people waited in line for a hour, for overpriced drinks. I personally wouldn't recommend and was not impressed to say the least. I think your money could be better spent elsewhere. There's so many nice restaurants and great things to experience here. Read more Written January 1, 2024
