Yacht Management

Generate revenue with your yacht, we have the solution, including migrating your yacht to florida in winter for year-round usage, there is no greater wealth than wisdom, no greater poverty than ignorance., under our yacht management, there are typically two models of managed yacht ownership:, guaranteed income model.

The owner receives a guaranteed payment per month from the management company for the use of the boat. The owner is typically given a number of weeks per year when they may use their yacht for business or pleasure. This is a more risk-averse model than the incoming-sharing model which will be described next. Programs from operators like Moorings and Navigare fall into this category of income model.

Income Sharing Model

This model is between the owner and the management company. The owner must pay all costs associated with the boat including maintenance, purchase or down payment, depreciation, interest costs, insurance etc. The owner’s share of income from the yacht goes towards offsetting these costs. The management company keeps its share of the income (usually 50%) for marketing and operational expenses.

HOW YACHT MANAGEMENT WORKS

We will create a complete turn-key  yacht management solution for you incorporating a revenue plan, scheduling, bookkeeping, maintenance services, crewing and even provide operational training.

The typical yacht responsibilities and tasks are taken out of your way, just leaving the fun and enjoyment of being on the boat with your family, friends business associates and other guests.

Some models are more popular than others and we can give you our recommendations if your wish is to maximize income. Alternatively, you may opt for ownership that allows access to a fleet of boats located in some of the best boating destinations in the world. These yachts are custom made and configured to keep consistency in the fleet.

Although the acquisition of a new yacht may be an effective business tool, the tax benefits must be carefully planned, documented, and implemented. We will work with you and your tax professional to qualify your yacht as a business and legitimately take advantage of tax deductions available to you.

Our ownership advisers together with the yacht management company will put your yacht into a revenue program that is rewarding, without the day to day operational tasks typical of owning a yacht. YACHT Solutions will work with and assist you every step of the way; from selecting a yacht by some of the top brands in the world, financing your acquisition, to placing your new yacht into the best program for you.

Fractional ownership vs. sole ownership.

• Most owners will tell you that they don’t use their yacht as much as they would like. In fact, the average owner only uses his / her yacht for 15 – 20 days a year and some even less. Life has many obligations so although our intentions are good, the reality is otherwise.
• The second common problem with owning your own yacht is the time obligation for maintenance and upkeep. Your time is valuable and better spent enjoying your boat on the water with friends and family. In addition, we must also recognize changing trends in our lives. Perhaps spending more time at work, families are growing and moving on and changing lifestyles may not allow for as much boating as desired. Shifts in more leisure time on the other hand allows for program customization from year to year for our owners.
• Add to this the rising costs and poor availability of dockage, maintenance, insurance and storage. Owners often reluctantly sell their “pride and joy” because they can no longer justify the time and the costs involved. Boating is rewarding but is expensive.

There are many different scenarios that can lead to having your yacht into our  Yacht Management Program . Owners join our program knowing that their yacht will be meticulously maintained and managed by professional people who care for their boat and value their time.

Benefits of Fractional Ownership

1. YACHT Solutions agrees to market and maintain the yacht and manage all aspects of user activity.

2. Select seasonal members are the only people accessing your boat in our Fractional Program.

3. The owner receives a 9% guaranteed annual revenue based on the value of their boat.

4. The owner does not pay for any fixed costs including dockage, insurance, maintenance, cleanings and storage

5. YACHT Solutions will work with each owner to develop a personalized usage and revenue plan.

6. The boat is located nearby where you can access it easily and frequently.

Show Me The Money

1. Owners are paid monthly which more than covers their loan payment should they decide to finance.

2. Typically, owners put 20 – 25% down and finance the rest through a financial institution which we can help arrange. The loan amortization is 15 years with a 5-year term. At the time of writing the lending rate was 5.99% OAC.

3. You purchase a boat and do not pay GST or PST as we are collecting it on member revenue.

4. You can write off the interest on the loan against your personal income and depreciate the boat 15% per year on a declining basis.

The income you earn from will significantly contribute towards the mortgage and there are not many investments that will guarantee you a 9% return.

As a Schaefer Yachts Dealership, the YACHT Solutions team includes year-round office staff, cleaning, maintenance, training and crew members to facilitate a comprehensive yacht management program. We service what we sell and provide a concierge service to our yacht owners and seasonal members. Ours is not a charter operation, but rather an exclusive service for yacht owners and boating enthusiasts. We know each of our yachts firsthand and oversee our yacht operations personally seven days a week.

Our Fractional Yachting Program is a brilliant boating system that allows you, as a Member, the satisfaction of accessing a beautiful late model yacht, without all of the day-to-day responsibilities normally associated with ownership. Live your dream and captain a newer well-appointed pristine yacht, the envy of many, and likely much nicer than most other boats in the area. Enjoy a minimum of weekly outings over the course of the boating season, May to October each year, with the ability or booking up to a week at a time. Found out about a trip that was being planned for British Virgin Islands from a friend and seemed like an amazing experience - especially given what seemed to be meticulous planning by the captain Greg Marlo. Lots of forms to fill out and very specific menus for breakfast lunch and dinner (got to pick from a range of options) - down to the type of tea!!! Talk about over promising and under delivering. The only saving grace for this trip was the amazing beaches of BVI and the great and friendly group of people we shared the catamaran with. The attitude of the Captain was horrible - had promised Diving off the boat but kept making excuses and would not commit to taking us or staying moored long enough for us to be able to pay a dive company to take us! The food was never what was ordered - I do not eat meat or chicken and had picked fresh fish options for most meals (7 day trip) ended up having fresh fish one day - maybe two? Just bad horrible excuse for someone in the hospitality business - no communication skills and really just a salesman that has no idea what customer service is ... I do not typically write reviews but felt I should just share with others so if you are planning on buying one Yacht Solutions expensive vacations - you can at least be warned :)
