BELOW DECK MED Natasha Webb prior yacht crash details

Below Deck Med chief stew Natasha Webb prior boat crash details

The entire Below Deck Med Season 7 crew had a harrowing moment early in the charter season when the S/Y Home lurched dramatically after the super yacht’s stabilizers went out. The experience was particularly harrowing for chief stew Natasha Webb because she had a very similar — but much worse — experience on a previous yacht.

“I’ve been on a boat that fell on its side, so I’ve got, like, quite bad PTSD,” Natasha explained soon after the stabilizers were repaired and the clean up had begun. “So this is really screwing with me right now.”

Natasha then shares some specific details about her experience as Bravo shares frightening photos of a large yacht turned on its side beside a dock.

In 2019 I was on a 90-meter yacht, and the boat tipped on its side. I just remember crying, thinking, ‘This is it. I’m going to die.’ I called to start taking names of the crew lists, and people weren’t answering. There were electrical smells, fuel spilling everywhere. I couldn’t even get out of the door; I tried. The crane craned off three people at a time. We were really lucky that nobody died. I’m a person in general to put on a brave face. You carry on. You have no other choice, otherwise, you’re gonna fail.

MY Nero Yacht Crash Details

The superyacht that fell on its side was the 90-meter M/Y Nero. The incident happened at the Amico & Co refit yard in Genova, Italy during drydock operations in September of 2019.

There were initial reports of several people being injured, four of them seriously. However, Dohle Yachts soon issued a press release and clarified that there were no serious injuries:

At 1530 hrs local time on 10th September 2019 at Amico Shipyards Dock number 1 in Genoa during drydocking operations, MY NERO listed to port and came to rest at an angle of about 30 degrees within the dock. The yacht did not contact the dock wall and appears to have suffered only minimal damage though the surveys and inspections are ongoing. There has been no pollution or risk to the environment. The crew safely left the yacht after the incident and there were no serious injuries sustained. As managers of MY NERO we are working closely with the team onboard, the shipyard and all relevant authorities to rectify the situation. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Amico & Co also issued a press release with details about what happened and the injuries sustained by the crew members:

On the 10th September at around 3pm, Motor Yacht Nero, situated in Dry-dock n.1 managed by Ente Bacini in Genoa Port for the purpose of undergoing maintenance works with Amico & Co, listed during the pumping out phase of dry-docking, for reasons that are yet to be ascertained. Emergency services, coastguard, fire services, Ente Bacini and Amico & Co emergency responders intervened immediately. Six crew members sustained slight injuries and were immediately assisted at the dry-dock facility; five of these were taken to the hospital for further tests and were then all released from the hospital during the course of the evening. The vessel is now in a stable condition and inspections and operations to secure it are ongoing.

More about superyacht Nero from the site:

Artfully modelled after the J.P. Morgan Corsair, NERO Yacht epitomises all the elegance and opulence of the 1920’s era. Commissioned by Neil Taylor, NERO bears a striking resemblance to the Corsair IV, which set sail as a luxury vessel after serving in World War II. This superyacht delivers a refined traveling experience with the classic, lavish aesthetic of 1920s yachting.

According to Burgess Yachts , MY Nero sleeps 12 guests in 6 cabins and features a crew of 12.

Below Deck’s Salary Breakdown Revealed! Plus Kate Chastain Shares How Much the Crew Actually Gets Tipped

Below Deck's Kate Chastain Reveals How Much the Crew Actually Gets Tipped

A new report is giving a breakdown of  Below Deck salaries as the show star Kate Chastain is also dishing on the tipping process and how much a yacht crew actually makes during a typical charter season on the show.

While it may look somewhat glamorous on TV, working in yachting is a lot of hard work — but it does come with some perks. And according to Chief Stewardess Kate, the tips the crew receives after a charter is probably the most rewarding of them all.

“On a yacht of that size, [a good tip] would be $5,000 a person, for seven days of work,” the Bravo star revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight . “Five grand a crew member, usually. Our charters are a little bit shorter, just so we can make the show, [but] everything else is exactly the same. So, it’s prorated. We usually get around $2,500, $2,000. Anything less than $1,000 would be depressing, which sounds crazy, doesn’t it?”

While a typical charter on the show lasts between two to three days, Kate insists that the crew is cramming in five days worth of work to ensure everything runs smoothly.

“We’re working not just eight-hour shifts, it’s like, we’re working pretty much around the clock,” the chief stew explained. “All the days start to blur together. And during the tip meeting, Captain Lee [Rosbach] , will say what we got and I’m always like, ‘Is that good? I don’t know anymore… $3,000, are we happy with this?'”

According to Kate, it can cost up to $150,000 a week to take over yachts like the ones that are portrayed on the show, which are typically in the 150-foot range. But on top of tips, the crew also receives a handsome salary based on what they do on deck.

According to the report, a chief stew like Kate can expect anywhere from $62,000 to $75,000 per charter season on the kinds of yachts fans see on Below Deck . Next comes second and third stews, who can earn up to $50,000 a season.

A yacht chef can expect to pocket anywhere between $70,000 and $95,00 per season while a captain can earn a whopping $120,000 or more. Lastly, a bosun on a yacht can expect to get $50,000 after a charter season while deckhands are looking at a sum of $40,000 to $52,000.

superyacht-charter-tipping-guide

How much should you tip crew on a superyacht charter?

It's customary to tip the crew at the end of your luxury yacht charter holiday. So what is the accepted tipping amount? And how should gratuity be given? If you're confused about tipping protocol on board a charter superyacht, read our tipping guide...

What is the accepted amount to tip?

In general, brokers advise tipping between 5 to 20 per cent of the base charter fee, depending on the yacht and the location. It is usually towards the lower end of that scale in the Med and higher in the US and Caribbean .

Are there any official guidelines?

In the 2000s, problems started to arise when generous charterers began to tip 25 per cent or more. The situation became difficult when crews started expecting large tips and were disappointed —sometimes audibly — with lesser amounts.

As a result, the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association (MYBA) issued tipping policy guidelines, which listed 5-15 per cent as the customary range.

These guidelines now seem to have taken hold as the accepted norm and also provide a charterer with a reference point beforehand. By asking your broker if the yacht supports the MYBA recommended guidelines, you’ll know what is expected.

Do I have to tip in cash?

Generally, tips are given in cash to the captain but there are other methods of tipping too. Maggie Vale from Churchill Yacht Partners explains: "If there are Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA) funds remaining after the charter, I advise my clients to leave this with the captain, as he is already holding it, then add any amount they would like to that."

"Alternatively, clients can wire gratuity ahead for the broker to hold in escrow to avoid carrying a large amount of cash. After the charter is over, the client will let me know how much to release to the crew (based on any leftover APA) and I can wire the difference back to the client," advises Vale.

How should I decide what percentage to give?

When deciding on what percentage of the base rate to give you should take into account that a charter crew normally works 16-18 hour days from dawn to midnight. As in all aspects of life, a tip should be proportional to the service you have received.

Is there a tipping etiquette?

Yes, all tips should be given directly to the captain so that they can divide the amount out between all the crew. It is important to remember that there may be crew that have worked just as hard as others but have been less visible during your trip.

Can I tip some crew more than others?

Although it maybe be tempting to try and specifically recognise a member of crew that has gone out of their way to make your trip special this is not advised.  All the crew work as a team and therefore should be rewarded as such. Regardless of the size of the tip, it will be distributed across the entire crew anyway.

‘Below Deck’ Tip Tally: Here’s How Much Money The Yachties Make

Kate Chastain, Ben Robinson and Hannah Ferrier of the Below Deck Franchise

WWHL: 'Below Deck Med's Chef Johnathan Shillingford Says Capt. Sandy Yawn's Decision To Have A Backup Chef Was "Shocking"

'below deck med' stars joe bradley's and nathan gallagher's bromance is still going strong: "we've been in contact every single day", trishelle cannatella spices up 'below deck med' by teasing her playboy past: "my boobies are generational", 'wwhl': 'below deck med's joe bradley seemingly hints that 'southern hospitality's joe bradley is dating co-star maddi reese.

While it’s always fun to watch the shenanigans of rich people during their charters, the highlight of Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean is when those groups shake the hands of the crew members and get the heck off the boat. One, because that means we’re about to see the yachties head out for a night of their own shenanigans, and two, we’re going to learn how much money the charter guests dropped for a tip (and subsequently, if they are total cheapskates).

The yachties will often talk about how a charter season is a good way to make a lot of money (in exchange for a lot of hard work) and if you’ve ever wondered exactly how much money that is, well, we went back and added it all up.

That’s right, we tallied the total tips per season, and the total tips per person as well. Now, some of these numbers may be slightly off due to a number of reasons: often, especially for Below Deck Med , the tip is left in Euros and we converted it to US dollars. Also, especially in earlier seasons, either the total tip or the tip per person was not disclosed in the episode so we did the math ourselves. Again, this wasn’t an audit, but just a curious look at what our favorite yachties were taking home after a season of cleaning, sweating, and entertaining.

First up are the total tips per season. As you can see, the crew in Below Deck Season 5 truly killed it, earning the most ever on the show with $168,000 that season, about $15,170 per person. Over on Below Deck Med , the most recent group in Season 4 did their best yet, collecting $155,000 this season, for a total of $14,320 per person.

As so many yachties express over the course of a season, the tip comes down to the service, and especially the food. So which chef impressed the stomachs, and the wallets, of the guests the best? Chef Matt Burns collected the biggest tip ever on a charter during Season 5, Episode 14 of Below Deck when the guest left $30,000 for the crew. Now, that guest happened to be Timothy Sykes, who had previously appeared on the show during Season 2 and infamously took back some of his tip when handing it over to Captain Lee. It’s safe to say, this tip made a much better impression on Captain Lee and the crew.

It’s also worth noting that the second-highest tip collected in series history belonged to third-stew-turned-chef Anastasia Surmava, who earned a sweet $27,000 after the charter with Daniel and Sheree Funsch, during Episode 6 of this past season of BDM . And right behind her was her relief chef of the season, Ben Robinson, who scored the crew $26,000 during Season 4 of Below Deck , Episode 12 when returning guest Dean Slover put his money where his mouth was.

Plus, chief stews Hannah Ferrier and Kate Chastain are so often compared as they lead their respective series with hard work and even witter catchphrases, but how do their tips stack up? We learned that over her five seasons on Below Deck , Kate has racked up about $66,314 dollars, which is an average of $13,262 a season, while Hannah has collected $51,162 over four seasons in the Med, about $12,790 per season.

As we say goodbye to our crew from Sirocco as Below Deck Med closes out its fourth season, we have plenty of reasons including drama, hookups, more drama, and yes, tips, to look ahead at the new season of Below Deck setting sail next week on Bravo.

Below Deck Season 7 premieres Monday, October 7 at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo.

Yacht life definitely pays.

Week after week on Below Deck , viewers see the crew clean up with giant wads of cash left behind by the charter guests as a "tip" for their work -- and chief stewardess Kate Chastain tells ET, it's not faked for reality TV.

"On a yacht of that size, [a good tip] would be $5,000 a person, for seven days of work," she reveals. "Five grand a crew member, usually. Our charters are a little bit shorter, just so we can make the show, [but] everything else is exactly the same. So, it's prorated. We usually get around $2,500, $2,000. Anything less than $1,000 would be depressing, which sounds crazy, doesn't it?"

Below Deck charters typically last two or three days, but Kate says the crew puts in the equivalent of five days of work to jam-pack the experience with a week's worth of fun.

"We're working not just eight-hour shifts, it's like, we're working pretty much around the clock," she notes. "All the days start to blur together. And during the tip meeting, Captain Lee [Rosbach], will say what we got and I'm always like, 'Is that good? I don’t know anymore… $3,000, are we happy with this?'"

To put this in perspective, those tips are on top of a fee for charting the yachts. Kate previously revealed to ET that it costs about $150,000 a week to take over the ships.

The tips come on top of a regular salary, which differs based on job. A chief stew, reportedly , earns between $62,000 and $75,000 per charter season on a Below Deck -sized yacht (most of the vessels on the show are in the 150-foot range). Second and third stews would make about $50,000 a season, a chef between $70,000 and $95,000, while a captain would earn $120,000 or more, a bosun about $52,000 and deckhands between $40,000 to $52,000.

Kate says there is one part of the tip process seen on the show that might just be for TV -- how the tip is delivered. On the show, the crew stands in line to send off the guests, with the primary charter guest handing over an envelope of cash to Captain Lee. Kate notes that the lineup is standard, but the envelope handoff isn’t.

"There's always a lineup, just 'cause it's polite," she says. "Like, even in Downton Abbey , they all line up. So, I think it's a tradition that’s been around for hundreds of years, but sometimes, I think, instead of traveling with so much cash, they wire the money."

"So, it's not as dramatic," she continues. "But I've had charters where we anchored in the British Virgin Islands, the guests had left, we're eating leftover lobster, drinking leftover champagne, counting our stacks of cash. I felt pretty special at that moment."

Below Deck airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.

FLIBS 2019: Latest updates on official superyacht lineup

By Editorial Team   11 October 2019

As the official superyacht lineup for FLIBS 2019 continues to grow, YachtCharterFleet is actively monitoring the fleet. According to our yacht tracking system, superyachts are beginning to set course for Florida.

Kicking off from October 30, the 60th edition of FLIBS will be bringing hundreds of boats and thousands of attendees to Fort Lauderdale. Of the 1,200 vessels on display, around 230 superyachts (over 78ft) are expected to be in attendance based on our data data from last year.

Our latest intelligence data shows that 170 yachts have announced their intention to attend the show to date. We are actively monitoring their status, and it would appear that a number of yachts have started to make the journey to Fort Lauderdale.

Superyachts en-route to FLIBS from the Mediterranean

Luxury yachts on board transportation vessel while underway

While many luxury yachts will be making the journey from the Mediterranean independently, several have chosen to be transported via yacht transportation vessels.

Dockwise Yacht Transport's (DYT) semi-submersible superyacht transportation vessel 'Yacht Express' left Genoa last week and is currently in the North Atlantic Sea. She is due to arrive in Port Eveglades in the USA on the 21st October.

Of the vessels on display, around 230 superyachts are expected to be in attendance.

She is carrying a number of superyachts om board. These likely include the 154ft (47m) luxury yacht 'Book Ends' ,  the 99ft (30m) motor yacht Jazz and 144ft (44m) charter yacht 'Muchos Mas' . It's thought that 160ft (48m) charter yacht CHASSEUR may also be on board to make the journey across the pond.

SevenStar's MV Parkgracht also set off from Genoa, and has made a pickup in Mallorco en-route to Florida. It's thought she is making the passage with 131ft (40m)   luxury yacht Take 5 , 106ft (32m) motor yacht Lampin'   and a number of other yachts onboard.

Map showing location of yachts going to FLIBS 2019

The majority of larger yachts are making their way across the north Atlantic on their own hulls. These include the 262ft (80m)  motor yacht EXCELLENC E and the 311ft (95m)  motor yacht MADSUMMER .

EXCELLENCE is currently en route, marking her first transatlantic voyage. She berthed briefly in Madiera before heading onwards to Florida last week.

She is expected to be one of the most eye-catching yachts at the show, with her spaceship-style exteriors and large segments of glazing.

The majority of larger yachts are making their way across the Atlantic on their own hulls.

The largest yacht to attend the show will be 311ft (95m) motor yacht MADSUMMER  and she began her journey two weeks ago. She is set to impress at FLIBS with her elegant Harrison Eidsgaard exteriors, alongside her playful Laura Sessa Romboli interior styling.

The 72m/236ft charter yacht SOLO is also completing the journey on her own hull. She has only recently begun her journey, passing throught the straight of Gibraltar two days ago.

Superyacht's titanic fail: Luxury vessel ploughs into Cairns marina

A multi-million-dollar superyacht has crashed while attempting to moor at a Cairns marina, narrowly avoiding a potential disaster on the busy tourist strip.

Key points:

  • Terrified diners on a converted-trawler restaurant at a Cairns marina panicked as a superyacht headed towards them
  • One patron who witnessed the incident described it as being like something out of a movie
  • After an emergency response, the vessel was guided to its berth alongside the marina

Adrian Hawker, visiting from Victoria, was on the marina admiring the 45-metre luxury vessel Moatize when the mayhem unfolded.

"I thought I'd just watch it dock, but then he went the wrong way," Mr Hawker said.

"It just picked up more speed — next minute I heard this crunch when he hit the little boat and I was just waiting for another big crunch into The Salthouse."

However, the Moatize crew managed to drop anchor, which avoided a collision with the popular waterfront establishment.

'Dinner and a show' aboard restaurant trawler

Terrified diners on a converted-trawler restaurant Prawn Star also feared the worst as the Moatize careered towards them.

"It was scary, people were screaming and very frightened. But no-one was hurt and that's the most important thing," Prawn Star's business manager Kay Green said.

A superyacht moored near a trawler at a marina

Ms Green said one diner described the near miss as like being from the scene of an action film — restaurant patrons getting both dinner and a show.

"One of the customers said he felt like he had been in an episode of [the movie] Speed 2.

"I offered everyone free beer but they said it was the best entrainment they'd had for years so they weren't really bothered about free beer."

The collision has damaged the berthing pontoon, forcing its closure and the relocation of boats including the Prawn Star.

While the restaurant lost last night's trade, Ms Green praised both her staff and the response from authorities.

"Our crew handled it perfectly, they kept their calm, got everyone off the boats and got everyone settled down and since then the spirit of cooperation has been fantastic," Ms Green said.

Ports North, which operates the marina, is investigating the incident and said it was the result of mechanical issues.

No injuries or fuel spills were reported and after an emergency response the vessel was safely guided to its berth.

Jaw-dropping cost behind retrieving and attaching anchor to yacht leaves fans in shock

Below Deck cast members don’t just serve glamorous yacht-goers, they retrieve and attach anchors, clean up after guests, and receive a pretty hefty tip. They also provide serious drama – and we love it.

Captain Sandy Yawn has dropped the crazy amount it costs to retrieve and attach an anchor to a yacht. The Below Deck captain may have let slip the costs, but fans have only been left confused.

Below Deck captain drops anchor cost

Below Deck captain, Sandy Yawn, revealed it costs more than $40K to attach and retrieve and anchor on a yacht. The windless was experiencing an issue, meaning it wasn’t pulling the anchor up properly.

She decides to leave the anchor, running the risk of losing it. They put a buoy on the chain so it can be retrieved later. After docking at the marina, Sandy and the team were reunited with their anchor.

A message on the screen pointed out that the entire anchor retrieval and reattachment process came out to $40,419.93. Sandy claimed the operation is “smooth” and involves divers floating the anchor up.

・ SCARY: Below Deck’s Daisy details sister’s near-death accident

Bravo fans ‘confused’ over anchor

When Sandy attached an anchor on Below Deck, fans were left confused and missed the part where they fixed the windless before doing so. The anchor was cut off to be retrieved later.

However, when the crew have docked and the anchor returned, they just started winding it onto the windless – or so fans thought. It was quick to miss, but they did actually fix the broken windless.

One viewer asked, “Did they fix it and not show it? or did they just not fix it and are still going to use it in the broken state?” However, a crew came on board to fix it before the anchor was retrieved.

Yachties earn a hefty tip aboard

Although it costs thousands just to attach and retrieve an anchor, Below Deck cast members earn a huge tip. Guests are asked to tip a minimum of $15K (£11.5K) on top of the costs of renting the yacht.

The crew can actually receive anywhere from $15,000 to $30,000 to share in tip money for a three-day charter, which is basically enough for a down payment on a house!

While an average tip is between $15,000-$20,000, it doesn’t seem much when you compare it to how much charter guests pay. It costs $275,000 which goes up to $310,000 in high season.

Tipping yacht club

We have been on 7 previous cruises on other cruise lines. Normally always tipped our room steward and dining staff extra cash upfront to ensure we have a really great and pleasant vacation. This has always worked for us being that these workers hardly make much money for all the responsibilities that they have and normally the great service they provide. I heard on the Yacht Club ( We leave on Divina in 12 Days) not to tip extra until the end. Service could be spotty? Any thoughts? Again normally when we tip the first day they go above and beyond for us the rest the cruise to make it extra special.

I'm interested to hear what some fellow cruisers have to say on this question.

For the most part, I'd say that tipping is a personal choice, when it come to when to tip and how much. As for me, I've never "pre-tipped" anyone. We've cruised Haven (with RCI) and Concierge (with Disney) and have always received great service from the very start which resulted in a great tip on the final day of the cruise. But, I can say that I tipped the bartender on the Disney Dream very well on the first day of our cruise last summer and the service level I received from him for the rest of the cruise went through the roof! I didn't even need to order my favorite drinks for the rest of the week! He'd see me coming and instantly pour me a tall Kona Longboard, and nice shot of single malt scotch. So I can see how tipping well on the first day can provide a little motivation.

Our first MSC cruise is aboard Divina (in 62 days!) and I'm interested to see how YC compares to the other cruise lines. I may try pre-tipping this time and see what happens.

Good question!

If reports on this forum are anything to go by, the butlers are minting it!

I always tip at the end of the cruise: Butler, cabin steward, most Top Sail lounge staff, certain One Pool bar waiters, restaurant waiter and his assistant, spa therapist; then I hope I didn't miss someone I should have remembered. In the Yacht Club pre-tipping is not necessary at all because they all work hard. I've never come across a lackadaisical YC staff member. I don't believe they'd last very long.
Thanks for all the response, I believe we will wait until the end of the cruise and take care of everybody like suggested. This is our first yacht club experience, and excited to see how it compares to princess. If everything comes true what we've read the yacht club might be what we cruise on from this point forward.

Agreed, for the most part, we have had very positive results letting the staff know that we will reward them for excellent service, that we are in the game.

I have - our butler on our first YC sailing on Splendida. Whether he's still employed by MSC I can't say although he was still serving in YC as I saw him on Preziosa a couple of years later.

Never have tipped in advance. YC staff and butlers go above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful time. We are ones to make sure we speak to all of them and our butlers have been fantastic! We have found friendliness and smiles go a long way in receiving good service. Our only complaint is the YC is getting booked so much we have a hard time finding available cabins when we want to cruise ;p
Never having changed your method, aren't you at least curious if you would get better service if you advance part of your tip at beginning of cruise?
Nope. The level of service we receive has always been more than sufficient 👍
Aren't you at least curious if you would get better service if you don't advance part of your tip at the beginning of a cruise?   YC prices are steep enough that service should be consistent for all guests and not elevated on account of bribery.

Ah, did not mean to get into a price discussion. Different subject from thread all together. I have never, even though many as obviously yourself do, consider service tips as "bribery". If I had that point of view, I would also withhold them. But coming from a country and culture where bribery is rampant, to an immobilizing level, I do not believe in bribery. thank you for your point of view.

We did not pre-tip in the Yacht Club and our butler, cabin steward, etc all went over and above. Service was excellent!! Some could find it insulting if you pre-tip. You're not giving them a chance to show how good their service is. You're implying that they need incentive. Just my .02

Tipping extra is a completely personal choice and I agree that everyone should get equal service across-the-board whether you tip or not, especially in the yacht club. But I do believe it's completely a personal opinion, I have always tiped extra on every cruise and great service is always provided never had a complaint. Therefore I won't change what is working for me. I do know for a fact that most of the employees in the cruise line industry make very low wages and that being said a little extra cash can go a long ways. What means little to you could mean a whole lot to somebody else.

We board the Divina next week, and I'll be making sure to write a review of the yacht club as I have read many of others and I would be happy to give back my personal thoughts and opinion for the next person who is interested in trying the Yacht Club for the first time.

Point taken. I am glad it works well for you. I was just curious.

We have tried both, just when we thought we were receiving top service level, we were pleasantly surprised and the staff was happier and more relaxed. Also did not cost a penny more.

Personally I like being rewarded, as soon as I do work for others. I just thought others would like to be treated the same.

Viva, I would be very interested in reading your review. Thank you for helping us.

Absolutely, we're very excited. Stay tuned in... with the affordable Internet package that we bought I'll be able to post daily review that way if anybody has questions while I'm on board id be happy to answer them

Looking forward to your review. We sail this summer. Can't wait!

Thank you for taking the time to post a review.

I just place myself I heir shoes. Should I be in the service industry at a level that is usual and customary to receive tips, I would never be insulted to receive a stipend. At any time. On the contrary, that would just be another dimension of measuring how much I pleased the customer.

Having spoken about the issue with many in the service industry, I find the only time they get insulted is by the absence or small amount of the rewards.

Oh no way! You would do that for us? That is awesome. Can't wait to read your posts.

I would be so lazy during the cruise I would probably never turn on the PC, what I am saying, I don't even carry one to the cruise. LOL.

Thanks, enjoy your cruise.

Totally agree we also gave extra the service was wonderful in the YC they desire and are grateful for the extra tip.

And you will certainly continue with yacht club!;) We booked already another cruise for New Year's Eve on Fantasia in yacht club and another one in summer but Aurea experience. For summer there is no yacht club on the ship, unfortunatelly... It is an amazing experience, the first cruise ever for us and before that, I wouldn't have imagined we would sail again twice this year...

Have a marvellous and divine cruise! :halo:

Totally agree with you Bea, BUT we are talking about people that sometimes don't go that extra mile if you don't let them know that they would be rewarded.... Sad but true...

Just adding my 2 cents since I'll be disembarking from my 17 night Transatlantic sailing in Yacht Club in the morning.... You absolutely do not need to tip in advance in YC. I'm a veteran YC'r across many ships, several times since 2015.  While some are absolutely preferred for one reason or another, we've had amazing Butlers every time & every one has been eager to please at every turn on this incredible journey, it's hard to know who not to tip since so many of the Butlers and their junior staff & crew behind the key card access of the Yacht Club doors, make a huge impact on your overall experience.... Many whom I've come to know from ship to ship, take great pride in providing exemplary service & care so tipping at the end will not be an issue in Yacht Club no matter what ship or itinerary you're sailing,  promise!

I'm assuming you're on Meraviglia.  If so, I hope we will be able to say the same thing about the butlers - we haven't always experienced great service - our butler on Seaview last month was very poor, indeed.  He seemed to dislike his job and had a surly, unfriendly way about him.

I'd never tip anyone in advance in the hope of receiving better service - I expect to receive good service regardless.  I actually got better service from a barman once than someone who had slipped him €20 - because we knew him from another cruise and had befriended him (and hadn't tipped him then, either!).  Being friendly to/with the crew works wonders.

Haha

You are fortunate then. Our butler was non existent. 7 days and nights and we saw him 4 times. First time was by accident as he was in the hallway talking. It is hit or miss with which butlers provide exemplary service, ours did not.
