CALEX Yacht for Charter

The revolutionary 2022 Benetti superyacht CALEX is a vision of class and opulence. Bespoke in every detail, this 219’ (67m) charter yacht showcases a completely custom design with a magnificent owner’s suite complete with its own private exterior lounge space. In fact, charter yacht CALEX’s sweeping layout won her the award for Best Layout at the 2022 World Yacht Trophies. Her sleek exterior design is courtesy of Giorgio Cassetta, while her award-winning interior was brought to life by a collaboration between Benetti and the owner’s design team.

CALEX’s interior is adorned with a beautiful mix of light and dark shades, white statuary, gleaming marble and stunning ivory-color furnishings giving an overall feeling of serenity. Guests can admire the rare sculptures and treasures picked up along the yacht’s travels. The main salon is designed to be a social space with a huge U-shaped sofa, armchairs, a full bar, pop-up TV and a dedicated dining table. Accessibility has been carefully considered aboard. Guests can effortlessly travel between the many interior decks in the stunning glass elevator. The deck furniture also can be configured depending on requirements. CALEX’s exceptional Benetti craftsmanship and clever use of space are demonstrated throughout the entire yacht, enveloping guests in luxury from deck to deck. 

CALEX welcomes 12 guests in seven warm and modern staterooms. The vast master suite is situated on the upper deck with a clear focus on privacy and relaxation. With a private office, spa-like double bathroom and their own private foredeck, this is the epitome of on-water luxury. This stateroom’s 180-degree views can be admired while in bed, or guests can head through the automatic doors to the completely private open-air hangout. CALEX’s six guest cabins, two VIPs on the main deck, two kings and two convertible twins with Pullmans on the lower deck all offer the same chic marble ensuite bathrooms. CALEX’s clever layout is extremely charter-friendly, with versatile guest accommodations and many different zones for guests to enjoy depending on their mood.

This charter yacht is a dream for those seeking to take advantage of all things alfresco. From the main deck aft and upper deck aft, guests can enjoy meals and entertainment surrounded by unbeatable views. CALEX’s sundeck is second to none, with a dedicated workout and yoga space, a Jacuzzi and plenty of space to recline. Her bridge deck has an outdoor area with a lounge and bar. Commissioned for a Californian owner, CALEX is planned for delivery in Spring 2022.

Launching in early February 2022 at the Benetti shipyard in Livorno, the fully custom design features a streamlined exterior by Cassetta Yacht Designers and an elegant interior by Benetti's Style Department. Finished with marble and fine wood, CALEX's interior design is bespoke in every detail, with 160 square metres devoted entirely to the owner's personal areas. 

With a generous swim platform, beach club, gym, jacuzzi and several entertaining areas, the Italian designed vessel provides the owner with a luxurious resort.  

CALEX accommodates 14 people across 1 expansive master cabin, 2 large VIP cabins, 2 double cabins and 2 twin. There is room for 16 crew onboard.

Whatever your activities on your charter, you'll find some impressive features are seamlessly integrated to help you, particularly wheelchair-friendly access, making this vessel suitable for all guests. Guests of all ages and physical abilities can enjoy any part of the yacht thanks to the elevator and whether you want to work, use social media or stream movies on board this yacht, you can with Wi-Fi connectivity. You can stay comfortable on board whatever the weather, with air conditioning during your charter.

Performance & Range

Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she offers greater on-board space and is more stable when at anchor thanks to her full-displacement hull. Powered by twin MTU engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 4,400 nautical miles from her 127,000 litre fuel tanks at cruising speed.

Calex knows a thing or two about fun on the water, with a selection of water toys and accessories for you and your guests to enjoy whilst on charter. Guests can feel the wind in their hair and jump the waves on one of the two Yamaha FX SVHO WaveRunners. Another excellent feature is a Connelly waterski that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. In addition there are two F5 SEABOBs, that allow you to skim along the surface or steer under the crystal water and experience life swimming with the fish. If that isn't enough Calex also features wakeboards, kayaks, paddleboards and surfboards. Calex features three tenders, but leading the pack is a 8m/26'3" Scorpion Tender to transport you in style.

World Debut: Benetti’s ‘Calex’

Benetti Yachts in Italy says its 220-foot Calex is scheduled to make its world debut at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in Florida from March 23-26.

Calex was delivered to its owner in spring 2022. This will be the first time the custom yacht is on display for the public.

The yacht has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Exteriors are by Cassetta Yacht Designers. Benetti’s Style Department handled the interiors.

Features aboard Calex include a 1,700-square-foot-plus upper deck for the owner’s use with a private outdoor lounge hidden from the decks above. The sundeck has gym equipment and a hot tub.

Eco-friendly technology: Calex is the first fully custom Benetti to have an engine room that complies with Tier III regulations. It’s built with a “scrubbing system” for the exhaust gasses.

67m Benetti yacht Calex to make world debut at Palm Beach International Boat Show 2023

Following her launch in February 2022, the highly private 67 metre Benetti motor yacht Calex will make her first public appearance at the 2023 Palm Beach International Boat Show later this month (March 23-26).  

The yacht, which was formerly known as Project Fenestra, was delivered to an experienced American owner in spring 2022 with the buyer introduced by Northrop & Johnson in June 2019. 

Designed by Giorgio M Casseta and his studio, Calex has been built in steel and aluminium with a seven-cabin layout that can accommodate 14 guests. Ten cabins can accommodate 17 crewmembers, including three doubles for the captain, first officer and chief engineer. The owners specifically requested that the crew quarters include materials and furnishings of a similar quality to those used in the guest accommodation.

Calex has six decks, with special attention paid to the owner’s deck, which occupies 160 square metres and includes a lounge with bar and a 180-degree view that still offers complete privacy. The sundeck features a forward steering station, gym and Jacuzzi. 

The interiors of the superyacht are by Benetti's in-house team and she is the first custom Benetti of this size to fully comply with TIER III regulations thanks to a scrubbing system for the exhaust gases from both the propulsion and generating systems.

Benetti has a number of exciting projects in the works currently, including the final stages of construction of FB283 .

Iconic 'little blue boat' that calls Montrose Bay home up for sale after family makes tough decision

For almost 50 years a little blue boat has been moored on the River Derwent in Hobart's northern suburbs by the side of a busy highway.

It is known affectionately by many Tasmanians as "the little blue boat", and has floated alone next to the Brooker Highway at Montrose Bay over the decades.

Sea Breeze, its official name, was built by Robin Attrill in his Montrose backyard in the early 1970s.

His son Colin Attrill said the boat was launched at Macquarie Wharf in 1976.

"It's been on the mooring in Montrose Bay ever since, and that's why it's such an iconic little blue boat," he said.

Tasmanians curious about 'little blue boat'

The boat is an object of fascination for Brooker Highway motorists and foreshore walkers due to it seemingly never moving.

Colin Attrill said it was "absolutely amazing" the number of people who would stop and talk to him about the boat when he was launching the dinghy to go and check on it.

"The number of people that talk to me that are walking past and go 'that boat has been there forever' and 'it was there when I was going to school or every day when I've been driving to work'," he said.

"Some people say they've never seen it move. Well it used to move all the time.

"Of late it's slowed up, we're all busy and dad has slowed up. We lost mum and once that happened it impacted on family activities."

Tough decision to sell

Its owner is now 91 and the boat has not been sailed for about 10 years.

Colin Attrill said the family had recently made the tough decision to try to sell the boat.

"Dad isn't well and he's gotten old, which we all do, and the boat's got old," he said.

"Anyone who knows about a timber boat knows that they need maintenance."

Mr Attrill said the family used to put the boat on the slip at least once a year to clean and antifoul it, and do any repairs.

"But the past few years Dad has been unable to do anything, and the boat unfortunately has just sat on the mooring," he said.

He said the family decided it was time for the boat to have a new owner.

"Nobody is using it, it needs a new owner who will give it the time and get the enjoyment out of it that we had growing up," he said.

"It's a great boat, and there are many years left. Wooden boats just last."

'Next phase' for the boat

The Attrill family is full of passionate sailors and Robin's brother Peter represented Australia in sailing at the Helsinki Olympics in 1952 — Tasmania's fifth Olympian and the first to represent the state in sailing.

When Robin finished building the 25-foot river cruiser, known by the family as The Breeze, it was used for trips away around Hobart.

"We used to have family trips down the channel, down to Cygnet, down to Dover, and all places in between fishing and weekends away," he said.

"We also used to go to events in Hobart like the Hobart Regatta, the Sandy Bay Regatta. We'd be down the river at any chance, or up the river. She made it to New Norfolk a couple of times.

"The boat was all over the place, wherever we could."

Mr Attrill said it would be a sad day when the boat left Montrose Bay after almost 50 years.

"We will see where it goes and where it ends up and what's the next phase for the boat," he said.

Over the years its owner has been keeping a watchful eye on it just a matter of metres away, across the Brooker Highway from his Montrose home of more than 70 years.

"He's always been there. He'd open the blinds in the morning in the kitchen and look out the window and there's the boat," son Colin said.

"It's always been a part of his life."
