This beachfront hotel sits on pretty green grounds full of palm trees, lush plants, trim lawns, ponds with colorful fish, and even exotic birds flying about. The greenery creeps inside as well -- a rock waterfall and koi pond in the lobby is skirted in ferns, small palms, and tropical greenery sprouting here and there beneath the sloped roof. Though dated, it somehow works, bringing a kitschy dose of the natural world inside. The place has a Polynesian vibe, with bamboo and rattan furniture, wooden art hanging on the walls, and teak wood elements. Though many spaces could use an update -- like the drab carpeting and beige walls in the lobby and hallways -- the resort is a fine choice with a great location and a good selection of amenities, garnering terrific ratings and reviews from guests.

I stay at the Catamaran frequently, and the team and staff there are truly terrific and help make this hotel feel like a home away from home for me. From the restaurant and bar staff to the parking and bellman staff, everyone is very friendly and hospitable. But the team at the front desk is beyond exceptional…led by Joanne, the team is always so welcoming and warm, and so helpful and accommodating, I would feel very comfortable saying you’re always in good hands checking in and throughout your stay working with Joanne and the team at the front desk of this outstanding hotel!!!

Booking agent very helpful and professional

Was booking for a staff member who will be attending a conference in June at the Catamaran Resort. Online booking shows it was sold out. Was already frantic thinking we lost out on a good deal. Thankfully, Renee was able to find us a room at the conference rate to boot! Couldn't have asked for a better agent to speak to. She was very professional and really nice. We look forward to the stay and amenities the hotel has to offer after this pleasant interaction with the agent. And basing on all the other reviews that have been posted so far, I firmly believe they will deliver!

Senior Reservations Agent, Diante Ashby, saved the day for this “senior”

Made a reservation on line which unfortunately was incorrect by one day. Called Catamaran and Diante Ashby was able to modify our reservation with arrival one day earlier and departure 1 day earlier. He also was able to provide us with the same room. The direct on line system could not modify our reservation, but a phone call to Diante, who made the modification. The 858 488-1081 call answered by Diante “saved the day”. Diante’s conversation to us, revealed that he really cares about customer service.

Renee in reservations, where your dream vacation begins

The Catamaran Resort is like a slice of paradise in Pacific Beach. The resort is fantastic and the staff is great. I would like to especially recognize Renee Stauffer and Celina Hernandez in reservations. I am always amazed by how knowledgeable and friendly everyone at the Catamaran is, but Renee reached new heights. Professional and friendly, she makes your day more pleasant just talking with her. We were choosing between two rooms and she worked very hard to accommodate our choice. She involved her supervisor Celine, and together they made our wishes come true. Renee is a credit to the Catamaran and assures that people will return to the resort again and again. Thank you Renee and Celine, you’re the best! Tom Shannon
