You were right. Addicted to Yacht Club. ( self.MSCCruises )

submitted 4 months ago * by Mr_Notty

This is my first time on MSC and received an offer to bid on YC and got it. This is fantastic. I bid on an inside YC but the room had some issues with noise and was immediately moved to an empty balcony room. No hesitation whatsoever. I am so amazed I have never tried MSC before. I was a Carnival loyalist but since they transfered my status I don't think I'm ever going back.

I've tried the non YC amenities as well and even without YC MSC is superior. One of the biggest selling points for me was actually the carpeted flooring. It's plush easy on the feet, knees, and back. Usually after day one on carnival my feet and back are toast need to be soaked, rubbed, replaced, etc, but not in the Seashore.

Another fantastic selling point is the elevator system. I have heard complaints but I love the you get X elevator depending on which floor you are going to. I never have to wait long for one.

Doing a yacht club interior next month! My first cruise - I fear starting with Yacht Club will spoil me completely lol

What ship were you on & what was the room # for the interior?

[–] Mr_Notty [ S ] 6 points 7 points 8 points 4 months ago   (11 children)

I am on the Seashore and was in 16019. You will get spoiled. It's a great experience. I don't even think I've fully taken advantage of it. Also definitely check out the thermal spa early and often. It's included and was definitely a highlight. Especially if you like sauna and steam rooms.

[–] meganmariab 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (8 children)

We are in 16041 - so hopefully no noise there, but the immediate upgrade for yourself is amazing!

I am super excited for the spa - did you have to pre-book your times to visit or could you just show up?

[–] Mr_Notty [ S ] 1 point 2 points 3 points 4 months ago   (7 children)

For the thermal spa was come whenever. Oh please please please if you want like a massage or any other spas service book ahead of time. I regret not doing it. Prices jumped on board.

[–] Normal_Matter2496 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (6 children)

Good to know! I’ve already booked one massage for our YC cruise next spring because the prices were so good for the advanced booking! Every great review of the YC gets me more excited. I wonder if you went to the private island? I’m really looking forward to that.

[–] Mr_Notty [ S ] 2 points 3 points 4 points 4 months ago   (5 children)

Not yet that's tomorrow but looking forward to it. We booked a kayaking excursion for 45 bucks which cannot be beat, but also looking forward to seeing the YC beach house. Your alcohol package extends to the island and they feed you as well.

[–] Normal_Matter2496 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (4 children)

Have fun! If you have time, come back and let us know how it is! I’ve heard that the Yacht Club beach is a bit rocky, but I have beach shoes so I’m not too worried.

[–] Mr_Notty [ S ] 1 point 2 points 3 points 4 months ago   (0 children)

Will be sure to let you know after we spend the day there tomorrow.

[–] Mr_Notty [ S ] 1 point 2 points 3 points 4 months ago   (2 children)

Ok so yes the YC beach was the rockiest of them ALL. It was nuts. Once you get deep into the water it's ok but we left pretty quick and opted for Bimini beach which is across the street lol. Way less rocks but still had some. I would recommend water shoes not open sandals at all. Now I will say we visited all the beaches and some were good enough to go barefoot so just walk around till you find one you like. But year the YC was not worth it even if you get free chairs, towels,.and umbrellas. Overall the island is gorgeous.

[–] Normal_Matter2496 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (1 child)

Thanks for the report! Hope you had a great day!

Very much did. Oh there's a ton of beaches on the island so you will be hard pressed not to be able to find a calm quiet spot. Most of gen pop stays close to the port.

[–] Heretohavesomefunplz 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (1 child)

Oh no.... we are booked for this room on our upcoming cruise on September 1st. Really nervous about noise being an issue.

I get I would use it to your advantage. They said they were going to be improving the sound proofing but if it's still an issue do the same as I did. It was mostly hearing the cleaning people carts going over the metal dividers. Not people or anything.

[–] Creative_Answer_7968 0 points 1 point 2 points 2 months ago   (0 children)

You will be completely spoiled.

[–] Creative_Answer_7968 2 points 3 points 4 points 4 months ago   (1 child)

We went on the Meraviglia in April and had our bid to Yacht Club accepted and it was the best cruise experience we ever had. Only problem is we can't go back to Gen Pop (as a lot of us started calling it lol). Yacht Club from now on.

The level of attention and all the perks make it well worth the splurge. I booked another cruise using the future cruise program and I am hoping I do not even get the offer to bid up. I paid for the Aurea whirlpool suite and I'm determined to have a balcony with a Jacuzzi lol.

[–] TheNightlightZone 1 point 2 points 3 points 4 months ago   (1 child)

Going on my second cruise and if I had deeper pockets, I would have splurged for the YC to try it out. It sounds fun and I'd love to avoid some of the crowds in the YC areas.

To be honest the crowds were not that bad. In the main buffet which we purposely went to to see how gen pop was we found seating easily. There are so many pools also that no single pool was over crowded and the water park is so great that most of the kids spent their time there.

[–] Odd-Eagle-3557 1 point 2 points 3 points 4 months ago   (0 children)

Love MSC. I went to the private island, it's beautiful.

[–] tupacpsp 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (9 children)

Sooo, how much was the bid?

[–] Mr_Notty [ S ] 2 points 3 points 4 points 4 months ago   (8 children)

It was 5 dollars above whatever the minimum was. I think maybe 460pp. 8 initially bid the minimum for no responses upped it by 5 bucks and heard back in like 4 days.

[–] tupacpsp 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (0 children)

[–] tftg-tftg 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (1 child)

Kicking myself for not bidding! I thought it would have been much more. I’m on the same cruise (first MSC) and didn’t realize just how much better the YC experience is.

Yeah I was dreading paying the upcharge but once here I did not give a damn about the money.

[–] Impossible_Badger677 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (1 child)

I have two separate bookings in the yacht club (back to back), and I'm solo.  I paid full price for two passengers.  I'm hoping to get upgraded for free to the next level since I paid double.🤞

Good luck. You could probably talk to the concierge onboard during your first to see what they can do.

[–] 00lovejoy00 0 points 1 point 2 points 3 months ago   (2 children)

Wait so 460pp, them did you have to pay extra for one of the exclusive rooms, or was 460pp the TOTAL price to get the whole YC experience?

[–] Mr_Notty [ S ] 0 points 1 point 2 points 3 months ago   (1 child)

So it was the original cost of the cruise + the 460pp bid amount. I'm total the cruise was close to 1700, but had I bought it in the yacht club probably I would've paid 2700. I save 1000 with the bidding process.

[–] 00lovejoy00 0 points 1 point 2 points 3 months ago   (0 children)

ah, I see.... Thank you for explaining that

[–] Natural-Price8539 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (2 children)

What kind of room did you upgrade from?

[–] Mr_Notty [ S ] 3 points 4 points 5 points 4 months ago   (1 child)

From the initial booking we had an interior room regular.

[–] Natural-Price8539 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (0 children)

[–] Still-Problem3874 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (2 children)

You are making me regret not bidding for my trip on the 25th. But I’m a solo traveler and just couldn’t swing it. But may look into a med cruise on MSC next year and that may be worth the splurge.

[–] Mr_Notty [ S ] 1 point 2 points 3 points 4 months ago   (1 child)

As a solo traveler it probably isn't worth it since I've found being able to share the experience with someone is a perk in itself. Being able to geek out together when discovering the perks is awesome.

[–] Impossible_Badger677 1 point 2 points 3 points 4 months ago   (0 children)

I guess I'm totally different. I travel alone to get away from other people's indecisiveness.  I don't have to plan my day around someone that can't make up their mind.

[–] InstanceScared3155 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (0 children)

YC4L - we did the MSC Seascape June of this year and bid on YC for our fam of 4 (2 kids 9/10yr old). We LOVED it so much we booked YC on the world America for spring break 2026!!

[–] TheOtherGermanPhil 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (0 children)

YC has priority on the elevators, therefore you didn't need to wait.

[–] DavidBergerson 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (0 children)

Welcome to the YC4LIFE club.

Once you experience it, it is impossible to go back.

YC, to us, allows us to have a vacation, not being herded into long lines. In all of our times in YC, the only time we had a person in front of us in line was at the concierge desk, but that lasted 15 seconds.

We can go to a 7pm show at 6:50 and get a seat.

We have no lines.

All the rest is bonus.

We are such a YC4LIFE, this is the ONLY room we book :)

[–] ACavalcanti 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago *   (3 children)

You can try the priority elevator on the front of the ship, use your wristband before calling your desired deck and you may get a priority call.

Christ I hadn't tried this yet. Now just have to wait for the wife to wake up lol.

[–] ACavalcanti 1 point 2 points 3 points 4 months ago   (0 children)

Another suggestion, that I unfortunately missed, the "Tea Time" at the Top Sail Lounge.

[–] Engagednotenraged 0 points 1 point 2 points 4 months ago   (0 children)

No luck with this. We played the game- with and without the band. Only worked once to get priority. Regardless will never go without YC.

You never go back!

I tried a ship-within-a-ship cruise experience and it was worth it for the endless perks—here’s why

The MSC Yacht Club affords travelers a totally different cruising experience, but you’ll have to splurge.

Erica Lamberg

I heard tales of luxury from people about the ritzy MSC Yacht Club , the ship-within-a-ship concept where discerning passengers enjoy their own area of the cruise ship that includes a dedicated restaurant, private lounge, separate pool and sundeck as well as private butlers and concierges to take of any whim while cruising. The elevated Yacht Club boasts priority everything while sailing MSC.

I sailed on a four-night cruise on the new MSC Seashore, a glitzy ship with Italian flair intermingled with references to New York City at every turn. Although the ship was well-appointed and had amazing dining, drinking and entertainment venues, and a bountiful Top Sail main buffet, thousands of passengers made the ship feel crowded at times, elevators were slow, and as I strolled through the general pools, they were boisterous and crowded.

RECOMMENDED: 10 things about cruising on an adults-only ship that might surprise you

Switch gears to MSC Seashore’s Yacht Club, passkey-protected for lucky guests, and is a 180 from the ship’s general spaces. Once you scan your handy Yacht Club wrist badge, or your room key, you’re instantly given entrance to a breathtaking retreat of 131 staterooms and suites. All this luxury does come at a price. Cruise fares will vary based on destination, time of year, and cabin category, but generally speaking you can expect to pay double for the Yacht Club. And from my experience, it’s worth it. Read more about why you should splurge.

You’re fast-tracked through everything

The Yacht Club’s exclusivity and impeccable service standard started from the moment I got dropped off at the Port Canaveral cruise terminal. There were hundreds of people waiting to board at 1pm on embarkation day. I saw in the distance a canopy that said MSC Yacht Club. My husband and I wheeled our carry-on luggage to the representative under the canopy. I gave her my name and within two seconds, she gave me a sticker to wear and up we ascended on the escalator to check in. Just five minutes later, I was directed to the dedicated check-in area for Yacht Club guests. To my right, I saw about 1,000 people serpentine through ropes to do general check-in. I felt a sense of relief; who wants to wait in that line? Five minutes later, a butler from the Yacht Club insisted on wheeling my luggage to board the ship and I was in my room in a total on 12 minutes from the time I stepped foot out of the car to my stateroom in the Yacht Club.

Relaxing and streamlined

In addition, Yacht Club guests have the freedom to get off the ship first for excursions. Your butler will happily escort you off the ship with a smile. Guests also can disembark on the last morning first, which is a big convenience. Your butler walks you right to the place you disembark, bypassing crowds and hassles. Port Canaveral is about an hour away from Orlando International Airport, and we took a 10 am flight home. We didn’t have to linger around until the afternoon for our flight home.

Another perk is that there’s a special seating area in the theater for shows. All the shows were excellent during my voyage. All other ship passengers have to make reservations in advance for shows but that’s not the case for the privileged Yacht Club passengers. As long as you arrive about 10 minutes before any show you choose, a crew member from the Club will allow you entry into a special roped-off section. Again, no rushing through dinner—you have the flexibility to plan your evenings your way.

MSC Seashore

Your Yacht Club package is packed with remarkable value

The price tag may sound daunting, but there’s lots of value there. All Yacht Club cabins and suites include a premium drink package that covers beverages up to $15. You can use this perk both in the Yacht Club and throughout the ship. In addition, your package includes a two-device Wi-Fi package, which worked well during my sailing. Finally, you get access to the thermal spa suite, which is a place to indulge after a day in port or a sea day. Commonly, there’s a taboo regarding mini-bars, but not in the Yacht Club. It’s stocked each day with the beverages you want; just tell your butler and consider it done.

You get perks ashore too

If your sailing includes a call to Ocean Cay, MSC’s private island, Yacht Club guests get an elevated experience there too. Yacht Club guests enjoy a private area, and a dedicated restaurant called the Ocean House. While other ship guests were hosted to a buffet of predictable fare, I enjoyed a lobster roll, and my husband chose carne asada. In my opinion, one thing that could be improved was the tram service to the Yacht Club’s private area. We were told the last tram back was 3:30pm if we didn’t want to trek a 15-minute walk in the heat. Since we were docked in Ocean Cay for the evening and weren’t sailing, I was a bit dismayed by this logistical quirk. I felt like I was keeping an eye on my phone to make sure I didn’t miss the last tram.

You have private areas with curated food and drink and outdoor spaces

Within the Yacht Club complex, there’s the Yacht Club Restaurant, Top Sail Lounge and the One Pool Buffet, which are all exclusive to Yacht Club guests. Obviously, the food and service are steps above other dining venues of the ship, I can vouch for that. Although the food is delicious, if you don’t want to pay extra to dine at the specialty restaurants or fuss in the main buffet, eating three meals a day in the Yacht Club restaurant can get a bit monotonous. The breakfast is the same daily, and lunch and dinner offer a menu with daily specials plus a few standby selections like a hamburger or pasta each day. Although the Yacht Club Restaurant concept is desirable, I would strongly suggest dining in other venues on board, especially for dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed specialty dining in Ocean Cay Restaurant, Butcher’s Cut, and Kaito Teppanyaki. I also want to mention that late afternoon high tea is offered daily at the Yacht Club Restaurant. It was one of the nicest I have experienced at sea.

MSC Seashore

Also available exclusively to Yacht Club passengers is the Top Sail Lounge, which offers panoramic water views and has chef-curated selections from morning through late night. We enjoyed popping into the lounge at all hours to try finger foods and sweets. The One Pool Buffet offers a more casual option for breakfast and lunch by the pool. The buffet has grilled fish, sandwiches and lots of delicious options if you want to dine outside.

There’s also an exclusive area with a private pool and two whirlpools for Yacht Club guests only. The sun deck loungers are very comfortable and I never had to worry about finding a lounger, there are ample. One issue I had was that there was almost no shade on the sun deck; there were shaded day beds for Royal Suite and Owners Suite guests, but beyond those, I couldn’t find any shade, which was disappointing.

You can justify the price at the end of your cruise

Overall, the best way to explain my enthusiasm for my MSC Yacht Club experience is this: it’s better to book an interior stateroom in the Yacht Club than a luxe cabin outside the Yacht Club. It’s worth the splurge and you return home feeling truly pampered and it’s money well-spent. And I make this prediction: Once you try a ship-within-a-ship concept like the MSC Yacht Club, you won’t want cruise any other way. Bon Voyage!

Been there, done that? Think again, my friend.

  1. Convince me yacht club is really worth it : r/MSCCruises

Kinda makes that MSC Balcony look like a STEAL at less than 1/2 the price. Kinda makes you wonder if the $200 more per day is worth Yacht Club :) And yes, I am 100% comparing RCI's experience on their balcony to MSC's on their balcony. IMO, there is NO WAY that RCI is worth more than 2 times per day to be on that ship than MSC.

  2. Anyone want to share personal their personal experiences with MSC Yacht

The food is really no different in YC. It's been fair on both my MSC cruises. I am currently on the Seascape traveling with kids so no YC this time, but the areas I toured look beautiful. I am still on the fence with MSC as a whole. It has good value for the buck - I will say that.

  3. MSC Yacht Club vs Celebrity (not Retreat) : r/Cruise

The type of cruising experience that I'm looking for is something that will make me feel a little "special" at times, so the MSC Yacht Club (Seaside) seemed to fit that bill. I like the idea of faster embarkations, personal attention, avoiding crowds in the YC area, etc. Especially at the MSC price point.

  4. Is The Yacht Club worth it ?

I recently concluded my first MSC cruise at the Aurea level, and I loved the Top 19 solarium with its lounge. Very quiet up there, lots of space to spread out. We didn't really feel like we were missing anything. But we also had a rare 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom suite, which was perfect for our family and unmatched in the Yacht Club experience level.

  5. Anyone been on yacht club

We loved MSc yacht club on seaside , by far best suite perks, love the live music from about 5 to 11 in there lounge which is superior to rccl and celebrity suite lounge , outdoor area was again nicer than celebrity, never crowded dining area for both breakfast and lunch, pool and hot tubs , only thing I didn't like about pool was it was 6 ft ...

  6. Is the Yacht Club Worth it? Yes it is! But..

So first time doing yacht club in the Mediterranean and the hype is real. Service is amazing, food? Yeah I ate my fair share of lobster tails. But here is the thing, because MSC has multiple departure and arrival ports I never felt like my embarkation was a gongshow. We checked in after 12pm and there was zero lineup for bags or security.

  7. MSC upgrade advice for YC bidding

I went back and researched our cruise on MSC website and can see 11 rooms available for booking in MSC YACHT CLUB DELUXE SUITE DECK 16-19 Roughly $6500 for the 4 of us and 5 rooms of MSC YACHT CLUB DELUXE GRAND SUITE DECK at roughly $7100. Even with current offer was roughly $2000 less then current prices which I hope is a good deal.

There are only about 100 Yacht Club cabins in total so the security line I went through was more of a go to the front of the line thing rather than idle when not in use thing, if that makes sense. This is the first time I've embarked from NY so I'm not sure if the Manhattan terminal is better or not.
