In August 2021 was looking to buy a sailing yacht in the Med that I could use each Norther Summer before returning to Australia for their Summer.During Covid 19 we were not allowed to leave Australia and therefore had to find a Broker I could trust. Thankfully I found Kenneth at Clipper Marine Mallorca. I ended up buying a 2018 Bavaria 46 complete with everything needed for extended cruising. I have now picked up the boat and everything I was told about it was 100% accurate. I am now into my fourth week of cruising and have completed about 600knm with no issues – I cannot recommend Kenneth and the staff at Clipper Marine highly enough for their honesty and dedication in finding the right boat.

We sailed into Palma on our newly French delivered Nautitech 542 and as to be expected with a new build that had some niggling issues to resolve. We were given veronika’s details to assist us and despite the fact that it was the week all of Spain goes on holidays we were able to have everything resolved using Clipper Marines in house technicians along with their recommended suppliers. I had many texts from Veronica over the 48hour stop to check progress and see what else they could do. When you buy a new boat, don’t just pick the boat, pick the company that you will need to work alongside for the inevitable issues that will arise. You’re in great hands if you pick Veronica and the team at Clipper!

In 2016, I graduated with a degree in Foreign Languages from Venice, Italy, and ever since, I have been actively seeking exciting and challenging opportunities in the business field. Driven by my passion for languages and sales, I decided to explore the possibility of settling in Barcelona and finding a directorial role where I could leverage my expertise and knowledge.

Upon my arrival in Barcelona, I was fortunate to join Network Yacht Brokers Barcelona, an emerging company in the yacht brokerage industry. From the outset, I was drawn to the world of boating and had the opportunity to actively participate in navigating a 15-meter yacht from Ibiza to Barcelona, braving adverse weather conditions along the way. This defining experience not only reaffirmed my passion for sailing but also provided me with valuable insights into the industry and its challenges.

Currently, I hold the position of Director at Network Yacht Brokers Barcelona, a role that has allowed me to merge my passion for languages and sales with my leadership and management skills. As part of my role, I oversee all operations of our pre-owned boat brokerage and yacht project management office. Working closely with a talented and passionate team has been a rewarding experience, and I take pride in contributing to the growth and success of our company.

In addition to my managerial responsibilities, I also play an active role in sales, administration, and customer service. As a language expert, I utilize English, Spanish, and Italian on a daily basis to communicate with our international clients and business partners. Furthermore, I have leveraged this position to develop my skills in photography, video editing, and marketing, using tools like Final Cut Pro and Photoshop, enabling me to take our company’s brand to new levels of visibility and recognition in the market.

My six years of experience working closely with the director of Network Yacht Brokers have provided me with the necessary skills and expertise to effectively lead this company. I am committed to the growth of our business, fostering new strategic partnerships, and developing our team to achieve new milestones in the yacht brokerage industry.

LEGAL SERVICES

We check the status of the vessel’s registration, we make sure the ownership is 100% legitimate and the asset is not affected by any financial or legal burdens. We then organize the bill of sale and the change of title on the registration in the country and port of your choice.

CUSTOMS AND TAX ADVICE, CHANGE OF FLAG AND CHARTER LICENSE

Taxation is an important issue when making a rather large investment, especially for exporting goods. Depending on your needs we will provide the best advice regarding VAT regulations and eventual import taxes affecting your new asset, when to choose another flag and eventually changing the registration from private to commercial and applying for a charter license locally.

CERTIFICATION COMPLIANCE FOR CLASS AND CODING

Before a vessel is offered for sale we make sure all the safety equipment certificates are up to date to comply with the YDSA/MCA Coding certificates as well as the Class Certificate when applicable (RINA, Bureau Veritas, ABS, DNV GL, Lloyd’s Register, etc.) We work with YDSA Nominated Surveyors and local representatives of the Classification Societies.

Aside from making sure the vessel is seaworthy and compliant with all safety equipment and certification regulations you may also want to have a Nominated Surveyor assess the state of the boat in terms of technical, functional and cosmetic aspects, signaling possible areas of wear and tear and providing an independent valuation of the asset you wish to buy or sell. We absolutely encourage such a survey when there is any doubt about the condition or the realistic market value of a yacht.

Finding the best insurance policy that suits your needs to secure the highest level of protection for your investment is probably one of the most important details to consider when buying a yacht. We work with the most reliable insurance companies and can help you find the one that suits you best.

After completing the purchase of your yacht you may need to relocate her to another port, country or continent before even having hired any crew. If the distance is within the yacht’s range we are able to provide a full temporary crew to carry out the delivery with all the necessary legal requirements to complete the passage in a safe, reliable and swift manner. For delivery overseas we use companies such as DYT or Seven Star Yacht Transport.

REFIT AND MAINTENANCE

For the last 8 years we have worked with a team of mechanical and electrical engineers and a number of selected subcontractors that specialize in teak decks and wood varnishing, paint, stainless steel repairs, gel coat polishing and protection. In addition, our partner Studio Double Pop will help us increase the value of your investment in buying and selling boats with the Yacht Staging service. Managing Broker, Simon Turner

Berthon Spain, based in Palma de Mallorca, is part of the Berthon Sales Group, but differs from the other offices (except for the UK) in that we have a full-service team, as well as an experienced team of yacht brokers. The business in Mallorca is split over two sites.

The yacht sales team is led by managing broker Simon Turner, assisted in the sales office by Nathalie Miquel-Elcano and supported fully by the office team on the yacht service side.

Simon also worked at Berthon International, as a yacht broker, between 1980 and 1991. He then moved to Mallorca and has been there ever since. Working a spell with Nautor’s Swan, then again with Berthon 2003-2008, and between 2008-2020 in his own company trading as ‘Northrop and Johnson Spain’.

Combining Simon and Nathalie’s skills, experiences, age and youthful enthusiasm is a perfect match when it comes to yachts for sale. Simon looks forward to assisting clients with the sale of both sailing and motor yachts.

Being close to the hub of the main action in Palma is important. Many yachts pass through, as well as the many hundreds that are based around Palma full time. But we also remember that there are many yachts and owners outside of Palma – and the beauty of Mallorca is that no marina is more than 50 minutes away.

We are also active in the marinas of Puerto Portals, Port Adriano, Puerto Andratx, Puerto Pollensa, Alcudia, Cala d’Or – and indeed all ports in the Balearic Islands, including Ibiza and Menorca. We also attend boats in Valencia, Alicante and Barcelona on the mainland, which are just a short flight away.

In September 2018 me and my wife, two icelandairs with little knowledge of sailboats, bought a sailboat in Torrevieja and Shahzad took care of the purchase / sale. I was concerned about how I would manage after the sale in preparing the yacht for delivery over the phone without completely breaking the bank. As well as representing your client appropriately during the sale, you have also worked hard on my behalf to negotiate the Spanish bureaucracy (I had thought I would need a lawyer), arranged delivery quotes, organised timely and reasonably priced yard work, and facilitated the work of the delivery crew. We haven’t met but I wanted to tell you about the exceptional help that we have received from Hanne.. Last summer my wife and I decided to buy a used Lagoon catamaran and we were recommended to speak to Hanne by the skipper of a friend’s yacht. We have recently completed the purchase of a 2011 Lagoon 450 and Hanne has helped us every step of the way through several boats offered by other brokers which pretended to be for sale but weren’t really. As motor boat owners for some 15 years in our home of Jersey, we have had many dealings with brokers, but we were amazed at the time and effort that Hanne put into helping us, with apparent disregard for what she would get out of it. We would particularly mention some of Hanne’s qualities which were evidenced during our 6+ months of using her help.  Firstly, she has very high integrity which results in her always being totally honest and, when something is uncertain, describing it in a fair and balanced way. Secondly, she is clearly very knowledgable and led us through the complex process of buying a used boat based in Turkey, originally registered in the Isle of Man but then re-registered in Russia, which belonged to a BVI company beneficially owned by a Russian individual which we wanted registered in Jersey. Thirdly, she is very responsive dealing promptly and efficiently with complex tasks in different languages, whatever the time of day and whatever the day of the week. Based on our experience we would have no hesitation in strongly recommending Hanne and we wanted you to know what a credit to Ancasta she is.

As swiss citizens, we have bought a sailing boat from a finnish owner in palma de mallorca, a combination which did not seem too easy to us. However, the whole process was handled by Hanne Niederbracht of Ancasta Palma in an extremely professional and competent way with complete fairness for both parties. Particularly impressing was the way in which Hanne Niederbracht responded to questions and requests even over the weekend in a quick, effective, very friendly and forthcoming way.
