Thanks to the in-house designed and developed solar panel system covering up to 200m², the 70 Sunreef Power maximizes solar energy generation with 40kWp of capacity. Owners have the option of using solar panels, wind turbines, and hydro-electric power derived from the propellers, to charge the ultra-light battery bank which are completely state-of-the-art. It's important to note that these exclusive lithium batteries are 30% lighter than the average marine battery and outperforms it.

Power catamaran JAMBO in Tahiti

This exceptional yacht was conceived by Sunreef Yachts with the help and advice from Laurent Bourgnon, a famous sailor with a wealth of experience in catamaran regattas. His expertise has been invaluable in the design of the first Sunreef power yacht. All other semi-custom yachts from the Sunreef power line have maintained the same hydrodynamic and performance-oriented line of the 70 footer.

The luxury expedition catamaran JAMBO was designed to undertake round-the-world trip in the most comfortable conditions and using the lowest amount of fuel possible. The yacht is currently cruising around Raiatea, French Polynesia, where the Bourgnon family has been settled for a while and enjoys the relaxed local lifestyle.

The fuel consumption was originally 13 litres/ hour/ engine at 10 knots at 2,300 RPM. Following structural and technical modifications made by Sunreef Yachts (installation of water bulbs of 5.5m, and additional aft swimming platforms, increasing the JAMBO’s LOA to 85feet) and other companies (remapping of the engines for optimal use, and new sustainable and smooth antifouling), these numbers have been significantly reduced. The consumption now is 7.5 litres/ hour/ engine at 10 knots at 1,500 RPM, or 15 litres /hour!

“Thanks to the remapping of the engines, they now generate 420HP (instead of the original 370HP each), increasing the maximum speed to 22 knots. To cruise at a top speed of 22 knots, JAMBO needs 160 litres/ hour for both engines at 3,400 RPM, which is a very good result,” confirms Laurent Bourgnon.

Port Camargue (South of France) – Puerto Montt (West Coast of Chile): Distance: 8,500 nautical miles Time: 1,000 hours (with several stopovers along the way) Total fuel consumption: 15,000 litres, or 1,000 hours x 15 litres per hour at 10 knots (Lower consumption on the Atlantic Ocean due to good currents; higher consumption in the Patagonian channels with opposing currents, strong wind and speed reaching 15 knots to reach safe harbour for the night)

Consumption per mile: 15,000 litres divided by 8,474 miles = 1.77 litres per hour Range at 10 knots with 20,000 litres = 11,300 nautical miles Budget : 15,000 litres at 0,50 Euros: 7,500 Euros

To continue from Puerto Montt to Raiatea, JAMBO needed only 5,000 litres of the total 20,000 litres of its reserves.

A perfectionist to the last, Laurent is still working on improving JAMBO’s performance and fuel efficiency. He is now working on new propellers, which are far more efficient that the original ones. Another remapping of the engines is also planned. The proposed changes will further increase the top speed, and bring an additional 20% improvement in fuel consumption. All together it makes the 70 Sunreef Power the best yacht for travelling to the most remote places around the world at a reasonable cost while maintaining luxury and maximum safety.

By now, the boating world at large is aware that power catamarans have found an ever-growing fan base; they’re not just a trend. SilverYachts is looking to further cement the multihull’s position by bringing new owners into the fold with its latest project: the SilverCat 22M. This 70-foot power catamaran is an owner-operator vessel that will join two other SilverCat models—the nearly 118-foot 36M and the 78-foot 24M—as the line’s new entry-level yacht.

With its aluminum construction, the 22M is lightweight yet sturdy. Powered with twin 1,000 hp Volvo Penta D13 diesels, the builder reports a top speed of 20 knots; reported cruising speed is 17 knots. the powercat’s draft is just under 4 feet, making this yacht Bahamas-friendly.

Also Bahamas-friendly is the SilverCat 22M’s optional hydraulic swim platform. From here, guests have easy access to the water for a dip or they can launch a Williams DieselJet 415 tender into the water. Forward in the cockpit is forward-facing bench seating for at least four and a dining table with space for at least six free-standing chairs beneath an overhang. Farther forward and to port, there is a day head and belowdecks crew access; to starboard, there is a wet bar and stairs leading to the flybridge.

The upper deck offers more opportunities to enjoy alfresco living. Aft, there are four sofas arranged in a U-shaped formation, and they’re accompanied by two coffee tables; however, this furniture can be arranged however an owner desires. Owners can also opt for a retractable awning aft to cover this lounging space when the sun gets high in the sky.

Forward, there is a dining table for 10, space for at least two more modular chairs to port and a wet bar to starboard. The upper helm station is positioned forward and to port, as well. Above, there is a retractable sunroof.

The main deck’s interior offers a similar experience but enclosed: Dining for 10 is to port and a lounge with loose-furniture arrangements is to starboard. Here, the helm station is forward and to starboard. Guests can also lounge on the foredeck, where there is a forward-facing, U-shaped settee that’s flanked by sun pads.

Accommodations and the galley are belowdecks. For starters, the galley and an en suite guest stateroom are in the portside hull, with another day-head abaft the stairs, too. The master and another en suite guest stateroom are in the starboard hull. Owners will have a king berth, a vanity and his-and-hers sinks.

Exterior design is by Espen Øino International, while Tillber Design of Sweden handled the 22M’s interior design.

Even though it was launched in 2021 as part of Sunreef’s new series of power catamarans ranging from 60 to 100 feet, we only had the opportunity to test the 70 Sunreef Power close to home recently, in Marina Kaštela near Split , at the invitation of the Sunreef’ s Croatian dealer Ocean Sailing House.

The Sunreef 70 Power is a brand-new catamaran ideal for exclusive family or friends group charter, considering her outstanding living spaces that accommodate up to 8 clients easily. Client’s needs will be 5-star catered by the crew of 4, all trained professionals with experience in the field.

Striking Styling and Superyacht-like Presence

In a distinguished shade of dark brown color, with a length of 21.30 meters, high hulls and high superstructure, the model appears very elegant, even a bit sporty, primarily due to the combination of sharp lines of the hull and superstructure with the smooth finish of the edges of the hull and the corners of the large rectangular hull windows.

With a width of 11.35 meters aft, the new 70 Sunreef Power is easily compared to superyachts, and its wide aft platforms and the massive hydraulic platform with a load capacity of 1500 kg are capable of taking on a five-meter tender with inboard engines. The spacious hull staircases that lead to the main deck reinforce that impression.

On the aft platform of the left hull there is a jet-ski lift, and above the tender platform between the two hulls there lies a large storage for water toys, as well as additional jet-ski fuel tank. The aft area of the main deck is, not only super-spacious, but also boasts impressive height, thanks to the ceiling that also provides protection from wind and sun to this open space.

In the center of this space there is a dining table seating eight, while to the right and under the stairs leading to the flybridge there is direct access to the VIP cabin located aft in the right hull. On the left side, there is a spacious berth and a staircase leading to the galley, located aft in the left hull.

The wide doors of the salon lead into the interior of the superstructure, a single space that combines the functionality of the living room, the interior dining area with a large table and an L-shaped sofa on the left side, the interior command post, the bar, and a small galley or breakfast nook.

This layout and complement the layout of the aft, so the two spaces form a large space with the same feel and design. The interior is furnished with dark wood, dark kitchen counters and light fabric on the sofas, with nothing but wenge used for all wooden elements.

Possibility of custom arrangement

As always, Sunreef offer custom in almost every detail of the interior and many exterior elements. The cabins in the hulls follow the same decoration style – all five guest cabins boast spacious double beds and private heads with separate shower cabins, and all enjoy plenty of natural light seeping through the large hull windows.

The model is also available with a six-cabin layout, where the galley is located in the salon, and an owner’s version with five cabins, one of which is a large master occupying half of the starboard hull. All versions have crew cabins in the bows.

The interior command post in the superstructure provides good forward visibility, and right next to it lie the wide and tall door leading to the lounge area on the bow, with a small sofa, a coffee table and two spacious sunpads.

This part can be covered with an awning, stretched over a removable structure. The bow section of the main deck extends all the way to the tips of the bows, with the main anchor winches hidden below deck making sure the deck is flush, ideal for socializing.

The flybridge is almost the same size as the interior salon in the superstructure, with a layout of a large terrace with two large sofas in the center, a large bar with a grill on the port side, and a large sundeck that mid-deck. Forward, on the right side, the exterior command post is identical to the indoor one and allows excellent visibility towards the front and sides, with a stern camera helping with docking.

The roof of the flybridge is made of glass and covered with individual solar panels, which creates an unusual, but pleasant shadow pattern, just enough to create some welcome shade, but not to hinder the view of the open sky feeling over the flybridge.

Sunreef 70 Power shows enviable economy in navigation

On our short test, the new 70 Sunreef Power powered by two 850-hp MAN engines demonstrated enviable efficiency, reaching 5 knots at only 600 rpm, and consuming only four liters of fuel per hour per engine. We found the optimal speed to be around 9.5 knots (21 liters per hour per engine), and top speed 19 knots, with higher consumption of 160 liters per hour per engine.

Without any stabilizers, the new 70 Sunreef Power proved to be very stable, with minimal vibration, and a tight turning radius for a vessel that size. With excellent efficiency, customization options and the choice of several versions of the interior style, this model – also available in a green version, with a hybrid drive, 70 Sunreef Power is an interesting power catamaran that just might set the standard for 70-foot power catamarans for many years to come.

The 60 may be the “smallest” powercat in the Polish shipyard’s Power range, but it already has all the attributes of an ultra-modern multiyacht. There have already been 30 units built, and for a 60-foot powercat, that’s a more than respectable result from a commercial point of view. This model, produced in the United States, features a relatively classic design, very motoryacht-like with inclined bows and almost enclosed flybridge - a true upper deck in a way. You can opt for an open flybridge, however. The deck line that rises up in the middle of the hulls is also in keeping with motoryacht culture - as such, it lends the PC60 an original outline among 60-foot multiyachts. Construction and finish are all completed to a very high standard. The Horizon PC60 can be customized on request.

The young Chinese brand has launched their first Iliad 62. This new model made its world debut at the Sydney International Boat Show which ran from July 28 to August 1. Our collaborator Kevin Green was there... On board this long-distance cruiser, the emphasis has been placed on controlling fuel consumption, and this has led to increasing the range to over 3,500 nm. The Iliad 62 is therefore capable of ocean passage-making: with a bridgedeck clearance of 3’9” (1.15 m), it also reflects an architectural design optimized for comfort in the open sea.
