So, yeah, it's a members only club catering mostly to the nautical fans. The club sits in a beautiful peninsula in Rye, NY connecting the LI Sound. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the club has lots of activities, including a pool and access to the beach. The restaurant decor is what you'd expect / beachy and tropical; however, the food is below average. Dishes were standard diner level and nothing was as elevated or even elegantly presented. Skip the food, use the amenities.
Great! Not actually a member though. Just as a guest it is a great place with a pool, beach access and a nice restaurants well as nice tennis courts and much more.
Love the club I've grown up at this club but this guy named Pat is rude??? Very accusatory toward members and I've never felt so out of place in such an environment that I'd consider to be my home. Is he new or something? Clearly doesn't get the memo.
No I'm not a member. But our company summer party was here (I guess they've done this place a couple times already, why not one more for the gipper). It was a nice getaway, certainly the usual prep crowd WASPers were wondering why 4 busses were bringing all these drinkers. But the staff was incredibly nice and helpful, and it was a very nice, pristine looking place. The small beach was a good touch, and there was plenty of coastline and nice looking boats. They have a full recreational swimming pool as well, and the actual building has plenty of rooms for private events and just general mingling amongst the rich and out of touch. I enjoyed my experience here, and wouldn't mind doing it again. As long as I had an out, because there's nothing else around here for a bit. Oh the breakfast buffet was narsty good. The lunch buffet not so much, but "Show me...............POTATO SALAD", I had pounds of that. We were able to take moderately sized cruise ship from the beautiful dock down the Hudson back to Manhattan, so that is a plus, if you're a member you can probably come back and forth from here to the city. It's almost New England, but not quite....

American Yacht Club
Founded in 1883, the American Yacht Club was originally a club entirely for steam yachts. In 1889 they held their first “sailing race,” which would become a tradition of embracing sailors on Milton Point – including America’s Cup defenders, Trans-Atlantic and Bermuda Race winners.
Stories from American Yacht Club
Much has changed since “robber baron” Jay Gould and a group of his friends founded the American Yacht Club in New York City. By 1887, clearly in need of a shore station, the club purchased “12 acres and some rocks known as Scotch Caps” from the Wainwright family at the tip of Milton Point in Rye, NY. The price was $6,000 for what has become one of the outstanding locations on Long Island Sound. In the beginning, all the boats enrolled in the club were steam yachts. However, in 1889 the first American Yacht Club sailing race was held. In a blow, six yachts completed a 20-mile course and established a tradition for what was to become one of the preeminent sailing clubs in the world. In the club’s fleet have been America’s Cup Defenders, Trans-Atlantic and Bermuda Race winners. Its sailors have been Long Island Sound, North American and World Champions in several classes. They have captured Olympic medals – most recently in 1996 when Courtenay Becker Dey took a bronze in the Europe class. Four AYC skippers have won the US Women’s Sailing Championship.
Through the years, the American Yacht Club Annual Invitational Cruise has been a test of sailing, boats and seamanship, as well as a family competition and plain old fun afloat. One of the defining moments in American Yacht Club’s history, however, didn’t take place on the water. On July 27, 1951 an electrical fire burned AYC’s landmark clubhouse to the ground. Galvanized by the event and the leadership of then Commodore William Crow, the membership rallied to support the construction – in little more than a year – of the comfortable building that now commands the view of what has been called a magical point.
Past Commodore William P. Ketcham spearheaded the fund-raising effort for our contribution by inviting 20 of our prominent sailing families to donate.
