Breaking news, teens caught aboard ‘casino royale’ yacht.

david mcdonald yacht

Two kids from the projects wanted to feel like billionaires for a night, so they slipped aboard several glitzy megayachts docked near the World Financial Center — telling cops they were “just chillin’” on them, law enforcement sources said.

Carrying flashlights, Trey Cruz, 20, and his pal Justice Mejias, 16, allegedly raided cabinets for beer inside the “Casino Royale,” a $42 million James Bond-themed megayacht at the North Cove Marina at around 5 a.m. on Sunday, law enforcement sources said.

But cops knocked the wind out of their sails after they hopped onto the nearby yacht,“Jambo Jambo” — prompting its owner to report the intruders, who live at Jackson Street Housing project, law enforcement sources said.

The wannabe skippers claimed they weren’t stealing — “just chillin” — on the luxury vessels, law enforcement sources said.

Cruz and Mejias also climbed onto the yacht “TATS” and “Libertas,” which were parked at the same marina, law enforcement source said.

Surveillance camera footage caught images of them rummaging inside the “Casino Royal,” which is decked out with a pool, marble floors and artwork featuring bond girls. It’s owned by California billionaire David McDonald, who runs a security camera firm.

It’s unclear how the Cruz and Mejias got inside the yacht. There was no sign of forced entry, law enforcement sources said.

They were both charged with burglary.

Cruz’s bail was posted at $5,000. Mejias was released on his own recognizance.

They couldn’t be reached for comment on Tuesday. Their lawyers didn’t return calls by press time.

Casino Royal Luxury Yacht 4-1-012

by Fred R Childers Photography

Casino Royal 163 foot long $42 million dollar yacht 4 Levels 6 staterooms w/private bathrooms Owner David McDonald Retired Fresno CEO and business owner Builder: CHRISTENSEN SHIPYARDS’ & John Staluppi's Millennium Super Yachts The Casino Royal is his largest and most ornate. A $42 million dollar yacht is now calling Stockton home after the luxury boat’s owner decided to dock in the Delta city on the brink of bankruptcy. Hundreds turned out recently to see the towering yacht clear the bridge going into the Stockton Marina with just feet to spare. “It was crazy,” owner David McDonald says. “We felt like rock stars coming in.” “I was like OK, that’s a very nice boat,” one spectator recalls of the grand entrance. It’s named the Casino Royal. The boat’s theme is based on the James Bond movie. McDonald made his fortune on security cameras. Now retired, he enjoys lounging on the 3,000-square-foot deck, especially with his dog. Inside, marble and mahogany decorate 7,000 square feet – no expense spared to create the ultimate yachting experience. The sky lounge is the most-used room with a media area, dining room table and full bar. In the formal salon, the big screen TV is elegantly concealed. A 10-person crew lives on the boat full time. Visitors stay in style in one of six guest bedrooms, including a VIP room with its own marble tub. But the most luxurious accommodation, reserved for the owner, is the master suite. And no master bathroom would be complete without a seven-head shower. TVs are concealed throughout the boat, which is kept in pristine condition, including an engine room that literally sparkles. David lives just two hours from Stockton, and despite the city’s current financial struggles, he says this is one of the prettiest ports in the world. One of the newest Christensen megayachts, the 163’ M/Y Casino Royale, was purchased in 2009 by California businessman David McDonald. Besides bearing the name of the recent James Bond thriller, the yacht shares a similarly Bond-esque themed interior, created in part by Carol Williamson & Associates. As you walk up the spiral staircase, you’ll notice the sexy silhouettes of curvaceous Bond girls emblazoned on frosted glass panes, softly illuminated by LED lighting. Unique to the Casino Royale is the extensive custom stonework throughout the interior, including an intricately carved roulette wheel made of stone and petrified wood designed by Jeff Homchick. The elegant yacht features an interior made of Sapelle Mahogany raised panel joinery with custom marble and granite work throughout the Main Salon & Dining Areas. The spacious hull houses an elegant main deck owner stateroom and private bath with marble wainscoting, bath and sinks. The VIP stateroom includes an en suite bath with marble and granite throughout. With plenty of room for visitors, there are also five guest staterooms, as well as crew’s quarters for ten. Each of these elegant guest staterooms has its own uniquely designed adjoining bath; and each is fully-equipped with an advanced HD entertainment system; including access to the yacht's ten video cameras and a fascinating, live chart plotter map display. The ship’s twenty-two HD flat screen televisions assure that guests are never far from the movie library with over 4,000 titles, or DirecTV’s full channel offering. Casino Royale’s fifteen bathrooms offer maximum convenience, and the Sun Deck’s oversized hot tub is the perfect end to any day. Fun times abound on the Casino Royale with four super fast jet skis, two Segways, three tenders, a full complement of dive and snorkel gear – and even two Vespa scooters for exploring ports of call. With over 6,900 square feet of interior space, the 163’ Christensen “Millennium” Edition tri-deck exemplifies the optimal use of space that Christensen has become renowned for, and has more than ample space for entertaining. The composite hulled yacht has been designed by Christensen Shipyards and is powered by twin MTU 12V 4000 series engines. The Casino Royale has a maximum speed of 18 knots, while cruising at 12 knots and has an impressive range of 4,500 nautical miles. A new addition to this boat is Christensen Shipyards’ first Stern Thruster, which along with the bulbous bow and “zero speed” stabilizers, offers maximum handling and stability. Originally designed and built for legendary yachtsman John Staluppi, the Casino Royale is fully classified and certified to ABSxA1-AMS & MMA Unlimited Cruising.

The New England groundfish debacle (Part III): who or what is at fault? Nils E. Stolpe/FishNet

It took me a while to decide how to most accurately describe the situation that has been visited upon the New England fishing communities that are and since colonial times have been dependent on the groundfish fisheries.

NILS STOLPE: The New England groundfish debacle (Part IV): Is cutting back harvest really the answer?

While it’s a fact that’s hardly ever acknowledged, the assumption in fisheries management is that if the population of a stock of fish isn’t at some arbitrary level, it’s because of too much fishing. Hence the term “overfished.” Hence the mandated knee jerk reaction of the fisheries managers to not enough fish; cut back on fishing. What of other factors? They don’t count. It’s all about fishing, because fishing is all that the managers can control; it’s their Maslow’s Hammer. When it comes to the oceans it seems as if it’s about all that the industry connected mega-foundations that support the anti-fishing ENGOs with hundreds of millions of dollars a year in “donations” are interested in controlling.
