Her striking exterior boasts bold horizontal lines and development of the wheelhouse deck superstructure into the aft of the main deck. Superyacht Samurai was built with the innovative Fast Displacement Hull Form, developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects. Her hull's unmatched efficiency allows a maximum speed of 21 knots.

Samurai boasts high volume interior spaces, also characterised as functional and flexible at the same time. Airy ambience onboard is achieved by the fantastic indoor-outdoor flow. The innovative layout is another great feature of Samurai. Her master suite is located on the main deck, as well as the main saloon and dining area, which resembles a contemporary luxury residence. The main salon is wrapped in full-height panoramic windows, which provide amazing panoramic views.

Accommodation is offered for a total of 12 guests over 6 cabins: a master suite, a VIP cabin and 4 double cabins.

The lower deck hosts the crew quarters, including accommodation, main galley, storage and the engine room. A generous beach club and, tender garage and gymnasium are also located on the lower deck. The folding swim platform provides easy access to the water so that the guests can enjoy a variety of water toys offered onboard.

Alfresco dining area is on the bridge deck aft, which allows pleasant dining ambience, as the curve of the superstructure protects the table area. The sun deck is a home of a large hot tub and sun loungers.

SAMURAI was launched in 2016 in Turkey but debuts three years later at the Monaco Yacht Show 2019. The yacht features Dutch naval architecture by Van Oossanen including the patented Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) and an exterior design by Omega Architects . RWD (also known as Redman Whiteley Dixon) draw the interior lines.

The vessel has two MTU 16V4000 M73L engines. Each engine has a power of 2,880 kW @ 2.050 rpm — enough power for the yacht to reach 21 knots . At her economical speed, SAMURAI has an operating range of 4,250 nautical miles with a fuel capacity of 114,300 liters.

The steel-hulled yacht with aluminum superstructure received the Lloyd’s Register 100A1 SSC Yacht Mono G6 MCH, UMS classification under special survey. It has a lightship displacement of 935 tons and a gross tonnage of 1,029 GT

The full-beam owners’ suite on the main deck features an ensuite bathroom, a dressing room, and an office with desk and seating corner. On the main deck are also the guest area with four double cabins. The study on the bridge deck turns into a fifth guest cabin to welcome 12 guests in total. The lower deck contains the crew area with the mess, galley and seven double cabins for a crew of 14 plus captain’s cabin on the bridge deck.

The interior design by RWD contains colorful accents to the dominating light grey color scheme. Thanks to the large vertical windows, the interior has a lot of natural light.

A California yacht owner's vicious beef with a dock worker has reached death-threat levels -- and their exchange was caught on camera and included a nude, and very rude, gesture!

Check out the clip ... it all unfolds when San Diego entrepreneur Ajay Thakore swings by the swanky Marriott Marquis Marina in his rare $4.5M Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht to pick up one of his employees -- but things boil over when dock worker Joseph Holt tells him he can't be there.

Thakore, the CEO of medical advertising firm Doctor Multimedia, flips out on Holt big time ... and starts spewing threats like, "I will kill you, you know I will kill you, I will kill."

And it doesn't stop there -- as Thakore's pulling out of the harbor, he drops trou to make a full frontal salute in Holt's direction. Stay classy, San Diego!

Holt's only retaliation was flipping the bird, and he later told CBS8 that was all he could do to keep his cool and avoid escalating the situation.

Holt says parts of the altercation were not captured on camera, and he adds ... Thakore not only threatened to kill him, but also claimed to have connections who could totally mess up his life.

Holt also says Thakore pulled out $100 bills and tossed them at him, even chucking some in the water.

BTW, Thakore's done some backpedaling since the ugly exchange -- he now says, "The interaction that occurred yesterday was regrettable. What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange."

FWIW ... One of Thakore’s employees claims the whole thing began because other dock workers blocked him from boarding the yacht.

Oh, and if that fancy Lambo yacht looks familiar -- it's the same one Chuck Liddell recently tumbled off just last month. Now it's famous AND infamous!

There’s no better way to explore a destination than with a local at the helm. Bequia-born Captain Gareth Harris of 60.3 metre Samurai shares his insider tips for exploring the Caribbean on board...

“A boaters paradise” is how Samurai’s Captain Gareth Harris describes the Grenadines’ island chain. And he should know better than most, being born and raised on the largest island, Bequia.

Bequia is the first stop south of St Vincent. Much like its neighbouring atolls, the island offers pristine bays, colourful coral reefs for incredible dive experiences and awe-inspiring volcanic scenery to explore on shore. Barefoot beach bars and lively local markets are mixed in with luxurious castaway resorts; some are even run by yacht owners themselves like the Bequia Beach Hotel . The unspoilt cruising grounds appeal to high-profile visitors, from royal family members to Hollywood celebrities who don’t want to get gridlocked between other superyachts in St Barths or The Bahamas.

“The Grenadines are a gem,” says Captain Harris. “Still undeveloped, they are great for nature seekers and outdoor lovers.” He cites “the constant northeast trade winds,” “beautiful beaches and blue waters, without the hustle of the major resorts,” as key reasons for adding this yachting hotspot to a charter bucket list.

Samurai , the yacht which Harris currently captains, is certainly well-equipped for Caribbean cruises. Launched as the Alia Yachts flagship in 2016 to a design by Omega Architects , her sprawling outdoor spaces are perfect for soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the views.

A 7.7 square metre sundeck complete with a hot tub offers the ideal spot to unwind at anchor while the Portuguese bridge creates the optimum environment for tropical sundowner drinks while the yacht is underway on an island-hopping adventure.

When it’s time to retreat indoors, her contemporary interiors by RWD offer six cabins for up to 12 guests as well as accommodations for Captain Harris and his 14 crew members. The main deck master, finished with Asian-inspired motifs in a reference to Samurai’s name, spans 87.1 square metres and offers panoramic views through floor-to-ceiling windows.

The impressive beach club with its fold-down balcony is Captain Harris’ favourite area on board. Close to the waterline, this lounge space offers access to a sauna and a fully-equipped gym with glass panels that can be closed off completely for full-air conditioning. Captain Harris recommends finishing off the day at “the beach club with the sunset view, with a cocktail in your hand and music in the background.”

Aside from her luxury amenities, what makes Samurai perfect for cruising the Caribbean is the breadth of local knowledge offered by the captain at her helm. Captain Harris stepped aboard at the end of 2021 when Samurai was purchased by her new owner, but his experience at sea stretches back just over 10 years. Samurai is the most recent in an extensive line-up of superyachts captained by Harris, from 58 metre Carpe Diem to 80 metre Chopi Chopi . The captain has been at the helm on cruises in the Mediterranean , Middle East and US , but is now back home where he intends to treat charter guests to little-known treasures and local flavour.

A hidden gem that might feature on one of Samurai’s Grenadines itineraries is a visit to the black sand beach of Mt Wynne on St Vincent’s Leeward Coast. “It has a beautiful jungle backdrop and is never busy during the weekdays,” reveals Captain Harris. Another of his favourite local surprises for charter guests is a beach barbecue on Mustique’s Macaroni beach, which he says “most other yachts won’t be able to pull off.”

Other activities that might be on offer for Samurai charter guests could include “barbeques with island chefs, bonfire nights or beach games like volleyball, cornhole, soccer and even cricket.”

A keen fisherman, Captain Harris also knows all the best spots for the day’s catch around the islands. His favourite fishing grounds, especially for spear-fishing, are around Baliceaux, where he says the waters are teeming with Mahi Mahi, King Mackerel and Snappers. If the chef is not serving up what guests’ have caught for dinner, Captain Harris suggests trying the national dishes of Jack Fish and breadfruit or his personal comfort food of pelau, made with chicken, rice and caramelized sugar.

Whether you’re thinking of booking a Caribbean charter for the spring break or already looking ahead to next winter, Harris has hinted a number of prime times to visit on board Samurai . “In late January there is the Blues festival in Bequia and Mustique – it’s an epic week. The Easter regattas are a great time as well with numerous sailboats visiting from all over the world. And New Year’s is a fun time with lots of fireworks.”

Though Samurai is planning to head to the Mediterranean this summer, there’s still time to get on board this Caribbean season. Captain Harris will be cruising her around his home islands until the end of May to stretch out the winter and make sure that Samurai and her guests have those quiet cruising grounds all to themselves when the rest of the yachts have already started back on the milk run.

Samurai is managed for charter by FGI Yacht Group with a weekly rate starting from $441,000.

For the first time Rosatom Fuel Division supplied fresh nuclear fuel to the world’s only floating nuclear cogeneration plant in the Arctic

The fuel was supplied to the northernmost town of Russia along the Northern Sea Route.

The first in the history of the power plant refueling, that is, the replacement of spent nuclear fuel with fresh one, is planned to begin before 2024. The manufacturer of nuclear fuel for all Russian nuclear icebreakers, as well as the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, is Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC), a company of Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL that is based in Elektrostal, Moscow Region.

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactors of the icebreaking type. Unlike convenient ground-based large reactors (that require partial replacement of fuel rods once every 12-18 months), in the case of these reactors, the refueling takes place once every few years and includes unloading of the entire reactor core and loading of fresh fuel into the reactor.

The cores of KLT-40 reactors of the Akademik Lomonosov floating power unit have a number of advantages compared to the reference ones: a cassette core was used for the first time in the history of the unit, which made it possible to increase the fuel energy resource to 3-3.5 years between refuelings, and also reduce the fuel component of the electricity cost by one and a half times. The FNPP operating experience formed the basis for the designs of reactors for nuclear icebreakers of the newest series 22220. Three such icebreakers have been launched by now.

For the first time the power units of the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant were connected to the grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020. The supply of nuclear fuel from Elektrostal to Pevek and its loading into the second reactor is planned for 2024. The total power of the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, supplied to the coastal grid of Pevek without thermal energy consumption on shore, is about 76 MW, being about 44 MW in the maximum thermal power supply mode. The FNPP generated 194 million kWh according to the results of 2023. The population of Pevek is just a little more than 4 thousand, while the FNPP has a potential for supplying electricity to a city with a population of up to 100 thousand people. After the FNPP commissioning two goals were achieved. These include first of all the replacement of the retiring capacities of the Bilibino NPP, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya TPP, which has already been operating for more than 70 years. Secondly, energy is supplied to the main mining companies in western Chukotka in the Chaun-Bilibino energy hub a large ore and metal cluster, including gold mining companies and projects related to the development of the Baimsk ore zone. In September 2023, a 110 kilovolt power transmission line with a length of 490 kilometers was put into operation, connecting the towns of Pevek and Bilibino. The line increased the reliability of energy supply from the FNPP to both Bilibino consumers and mining companies, the largest of which is the Baimsky GOK. The comprehensive development of the Russian Arctic is a national strategic priority. To increase the NSR traffic is of paramount importance for accomplishment of the tasks set in the field of cargo shipping. This logistics corridor is being developed due regular freight voyages, construction of new nuclear-powered icebreakers and modernization of the relevant infrastructure. Rosatom companies are actively involved in this work. Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL (Rosatom Fuel Division) includes companies fabricating nuclear fuel, converting and enriching uranium, manufacturing gas centrifuges, conducting researches and producing designs. As the only nuclear fuel supplier to Russian NPPs, TVEL supplies fuel for a total of 75 power reactors in 15 countries, for research reactors in nine countries, as well as for propulsion reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world runs on TVEL fuel. Rosatom Fuel Division is the world’s largest producer of enriched uranium and the leader on the global stable isotope market. The Fuel Division is actively developing new businesses in chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities.
