2009 - RIVIERA 5800 SPORT YACHT

When Riviera unveiled the 5800 Sport Yacht at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May 2009, the team knew they were launching something special.

The Volvo Penta Inboard Propulsion System (IPS) gave the designers the freedom to create an accommodation deck that included a massive full-beam master stateroom with en-suite bathroom as well as three other cabins and two bathrooms.

But the most significant element of this new Sport Yacht was her external design. She looked impressive, more sophisticated, more European, more stylish.

The 5800 took the concept of al fresco lifestyle embodied in all Riviera Sport Yachts to date to a new level. From the hydraulic swim platform to a large tender garage, a luxurious cockpit with transom lounge, timber dining table, a barbecue and wet bar through to the generous foredeck sunpad, this was a motor yacht designed and built to please owners and guests alike.

It certainly impressed the boating media around the world. The 5800 featured in marine media in Spain, Japan, the United States, Russia, South Africa, New Zealand, Singapore and Australia.

Asia-Pacific Boating named the 5800 as “Riviera’s finest”.

Spain’s Yates magazine summed her up in its headline: “Sofisticado y Majestuoso!”

Go Boating in Australia described her as a “stunning example of quality craftsmanship” and Trade-A-Boat said she was “perfectly executed”.

From a bulkhead window that disappeared at the touch of a button, a sunroof that slid back to welcome the sun or stars into the saloon, she was the epitome of on-water sophistication.

The Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht was powered by triple Volvo Penta IPS systems, with engines rated to 435 hp each.

Riviera built 33 of these magnificent sport yachts over six years in production.

Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht

The majority of Riviera models we’ve covered previously in these pages reveal the Australian builder’s convertible roots. You kind of go with what you know, and it’s tough to argue that Australians don’t know sportfishing. The waters are full of large black marlin and the locals know a thing or two about raising them-and have built the boats to do it right. So it was with a bit of curiosity and a scratch of the head that I headed down the dock on Australia’s Gold Coast to take a look at the new Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht. This model didn’t represent their first foray into the competitive express style cruiser market, but it is certainly their most ambitious non-convertible project to date. The earlier models in the Sport Series are well executed, but to compete against a crowded group of formidable players coming primarily from Europe and the United States, the 5800 needed that wow factor-no half measures allowed.

In order to help ensure its success, the builder turned to Volvo and designed the 5800 with three 435-horsepower Volvo IPS 600s. This forward facing pod system first entered production in 2004. The early pioneers of IPS benefited from the propulsion system’s efficiencies and ease of maneuverability gained by the joystick control, but the benefits ended there. Although IPS units are placed further aft, no increased livability or interior volume was really gained, and for the most part there were just large, underutilized, fiberglass caverns where the engines used to be. Today, builders using the system are transitioning to a process where the IPS units are dictating the design.

On the 5800, the chief beneficiary is the accommodations. By placing the engines all the way aft, a huge lower deck is gained. Our test boat featured four staterooms, and three heads. A three-stateroom model is available that swaps the galley with a guest stateroom on the portside. Usually I’m not a fan of cramming too many staterooms into a space. Sure, it may work on a convertible where a place to rest your head on the way to the canyon takes precedent over comfort. On the 5800, however, the layout works and nothing is pinched. The portside guest stateroom is the smallest of the four, with single over and under bunks. Kids would be happy to call it home. The other staterooms will satisfy your more particular guests. The forward VIP cabin has an island double and an en suite head with separate shower stall. A twin berth stateroom to starboard has private access to an en suite head that, with access from the passageway, also works as a day head. I like the make up of these staterooms. Having a double, side-by side-twins, and bunks, should address just about any sleeping scenario. If required, the lazarette under the aft deck can be fitted out as crew accommodations. That means eight berths in addition to the master! That alone is not noteworthy-it’s the fact that all the spaces work. No sardines here.

The master stateroom follows a trend that is popping up in other express styled boats-a full beam cabin. Previously, the common practice was to place the master up in the bow. With the space afforded by the IPS drives, however, express styled boats are graduating beyond simply big day boats. Six hull ports bring in large swaths of lights. This is another trend, but Riviera has managed to design theirs so they still look like they belong on a yacht. A vanity forward of the king berth will easily double as a laptop workstation. There is a straight settee and huge hanging locker to starboard. Designers kept the area light with a juxtaposition of pale fabrics against expertly executed cherry joinery.

On the main deck, Riviera incorporates the same drop down aft bulkhead first introduced on the 3600 Sport Yacht. At rest, it makes a large, seamless entertainment platform between the galley and the aft deck. The U-shaped galley is very functional and far better than I’ve seen on express styled boats 20 feet larger. Our test boat was equipped with a Miele microwave, convection oven, and dishwasher. There is sufficient counter space to prepare a five-course meal, and by placing the four drawer-style refrigerator and freezer units to port, more than one person can work in the area. The forward end of the counter serves as a breakfast bar. If the down galley layout is selected, a second settee is placed in this area. Our test boat featured one large settee with a dining table to port that was more than enough, and underway provided perfect lines of sight forward.

The starboard helm station is set up for both captain and mate with two seats abaft the well-equipped instrument panel. Gauges were easy to read and accessible. A sliding window not only brings in air underway, but also will allow for commu nication to your line handlers when coming alongside. There is an unflawed 360-degree line of sight from the helm. A massive sunroof opens above. With the after bulkhead recessed, the 5800 turns into an open boat in short order. The engineers did a fine job of ensuring the sunroof doesn’t funnel in too much wind and, thus, vibration.

A stern garage accommodates a 3.2-meter tender and a PWC can also be carried on the hydraulic swim platform. This area was surprising to see considering the accommodations. Nothing was pinched.

The interior volume and execution of details on the 5800 alone would be sufficient to give that wow factor. But the ride and performance are noteworthy indeed. The joystick control and ease of close quarters maneuvering will appeal to couples cruising shorthanded. With one push of the stick sideways, we were off the fuel dock. A twist to port, and we were turned around in the tight basin and heading out to open water.

From idle, we pegged the throttles forward and shot out of the hole like a bow rider towing a skier. No wallowing, no smoke, and no excess noise. My decibel meter was picking up more wind noise than engine noise. We achieved a top speed of 38.3 knots and read 74 decibels at the helm. If you consider that the normal level of conversation is 64 decibels, it’s impressive. Handling was responsive and precise.

Pulling back the throttles to 3400 rpm dropped the speed to 27.2 knots, which would be the high cruise for the 5800. At a speed of 24 knots the combined fuel burn was a very respectable 47 gallons-per-hour. At this speed, with a 700-gallon fuel capacity, the 5800 has a range of 320 miles with a ten percent reserve. If longer legs are required, just pull back a little more.

And chances are, you’ll want to go far. The 5800 Sport Yacht takes the express style design a step further by incorporating all of the cruising comforts of a flying bridge design. Combined with peppy performance and efficiencies, you too will feel wowed after some time on board.

Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht

With three Volvo Penta IPS 600 pod drives and a whole new level of luxury, the latest Riviera Sport Yacht breaks new ground

The Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht is the biggest model in the SY range and features the revolutionary triple Volvo Penta IPS 600 pod drives with forward-facing propellers – a first for Riviera.

The moulded fibreglass hull has been designed using NX 3D CAD computer modelling and everything down to small parts and mechanisms are fully computer-designed. The joinery throughout is CNC machine cut and coated using our robotic varnish system.

“While we had some basic parameters such as the indoor/outdoor atmosphere, we had the opportunity to break new ground with the overall design. We have gone away from the bowsprit for the first time and hidden the anchor winch and chain below the deck level to give a cleaner look to the forward deck,” explains Sport concept design manager, Stephen Ford.

“The (IPS) propulsion system alone had a major effect on the design simply because it allowed us to utilise much more accommodation space. The result is a magnificent four-cabin, three-bathroom layout with a large, open full-beam master stateroom amidships with distinctive portlights in the hull sides that flood this cabin with light.”

The 5800 SY is offered with an alternative layout featuring a below-decks galley. Riviera says it opens up the saloon, providing a large additional lounge in the starboard aft quarter of the saloon.

Build quality

The 5800 SY boasts a fully resin-infused hull, while the decks and hardtop are handlaid moulded fibreglass with foam core. There is a watertight collision bulkhead forward, independent compartments throughout the hull, solid GRP keel and chines.

The boat is bundled with the latest edge digital switching, CAN-bus technology that allows you to control the DC circuits from a touch-screen control panel at the helm and the electrical board.

There are preset modes so you can program your 5800 SY in advance for your preferred way of boating. Night mode brings the lights on, party mode adds music DVDs and the Bose, and so on. Full systems monitoring and tank levels are displayed on the 3.5in colour control screens.

Among the other new technologies are interior light dimming, timer controls, automated circuit control, wiper speed control and wash function. Batteries are the no-maintenance AGM types, with 24v house power and a whopping optional 5000W inverter for running the AV systems, icemaker and freshwater pump sans generator. The navigation lights are LED types.

Engineroom access is through a hatch in the teak-topped cockpit that leads into a huge lazarette that, with optional fit-out, can be turned into crew’s quarters with en suite. A waterproof door leads back aft from here to the rear-mounted triple Volvo Penta IPS 600s.

Coupled with a jackshaft, the centre engine is located forward of the outboard engines. There was room to perform perfunctory pre-passage checks of the essential engineering, with access to the heavy-duty sea strainers and Racor fuel filters, the Onan to port, the air-con units behind, the hot-water service, and the fuel manifold back in the utility space or lazarette. With the engines back aft, the fuel is forward.

Outdoor/indoor living

As well as plenty of space outdoors, built-in and unobtrusive amenities for entertaining, and seats to kick back, there’s a huge hydraulic swim platform, a garage for a 3.2m tender, dual access to the big cockpit, transom lounge (with fabric upgrade) and teak table for eight.

Nearby are the electric barbecue/griddle, sink, and scope for fitting extra fridges and icemaker. There is a split sound system for the cockpit and another separate sound system with remote on the broad foredeck, which features a new double sunpad with flip-up headrest and recessed iceboxes that drain overboard.

There was an optional $6000 stainless steel anchor and, back at the transom, underwater lights. The new integrated anchor system, inboard rear cleats with hawsepipes, and sculptured transom contribute to the 5800 SY’s Euro lines. Yet the cockpit caters perfectly for our way of boating life and with the optional extended Euro awning, you will gain shade over the al fresco lunch setting.

Traced by generous Corian counters, and a new electric instead of manual awning window, the galley boasts four drawer-style fridges and freezers, Miele combination oven/microwave and grill, four-burner induction stove and dishwasher. The wetbar opposite has icemaker, glass and bottle storage, and soft-close drawers. Two bar stools front the forward return on the galley.

Easy-clean (optional) Amtico flooring flows forward to a portside dinette that’s big enough for six, with a hi/lo riser as per the cockpit table. Opposite is a popup Sony Bravia flatscreen television linked to the Bose AV system.

Side-opening windows flanking the helm, a big electric sunroof, and plenty of glass direct air and light inside.

Four-cabin beauty

The boat sleeps eight, with a VIP stateroom forward with lengthened island double bed, television and en suite; twin side-by-side single bunks that convert to a double to starboard, with access to an en suite that doubles as a dayhead; and, a portside cabin with bunks for kids or stowing gear.

The big gain, thanks to IPS, is the full-beam stateroom back aft, with king bed, settee, vanity, decent television, plenty of headroom and opening portlights. The bathrooms boast bigger showers and the latest push-button Vacuflush loos, plus improved plumbing. Storage space is abundant.

There’s a black helm or co-pilot seat, carbon-fibre style automotive dash, and the usual spread of analogue engine gauges have been replaced with multifunction panels.

Besides the electronic Volvo engine panels, and C-Zone switching, there were twin Raymarine E120s linked to reversing and engineroom cameras. The sports wheel, EVC throttles and joystick controller fall to hand, with the option of a second joystick docking device in the cockpit. Noting excellent holeshot, we blasted 22kts at 3000rpm for 150lt/h. Advance the throttles and you will see 24.5kts at 3200rpm for 180lt/h, then a fast cruise of 27kts at 3400rpm for 195lt/h. Top speed was an impressive 38kts. Noise levels were pleasantly low.

I would like to take you on a journey on the River Thames aboard a steel Linssen charter yacht. Our journey begins in Henley, a beautiful town best known for its annual rowing races. We are ready to enjoy a relaxing cruise on this beautiful river and explore all the sights along the route.

After picking up our motor yacht at the marina in Henley, we cruise leisurely downstream. Soon we pass the historic town of Marlow, where we make a short stop to enjoy the beautiful views of the Chiltern Hills. We then continue to Windsor, where we see the magnificent Windsor Castle looming on the horizon. This is home to the British royal family and is the oldest inhabited royal residence in the world. A walk through the town and visiting the castle are definitely recommended.

As we sail on, we also pass the town of Maidenhead, where we view the famous Maidenhead Bridge, an iconic bridge that has been around since the 18th century. We also pass Cliveden House, an estate that was once home to the aristocratic Astor family and is now a hotel. The house has a rich history and has had famous guests such as Charlie Chaplin and Winston Churchill. We sail on and arrive in the town of Reading, where we take time to visit Reading's famous abbey ruins. These ruins date back to the Middle Ages and are one of the oldest remains of this period in England. A walk through the ruins is truly a special experience.

After visiting the ruins, we board the boat again and sail back to Henley. As we sailed back, we could enjoy the beautiful scenery along the banks of the river and the calm waters flowing below us. All in all, our trip on the River Thames was a wonderful experience, full of history and culture. It is definitely recommended to anyone who loves boating and is interested in England's rich history and sights.

Frequently Ask Question Do I need a license? You do not need to have a licence to charter one of our boats. Technical Assistance During your cruise, should a problem arise, there is no need to worry. We provide a “call out” service and our trained mechanics will soon be there to solve any problems. This service is provided 7 days a week during working hours. We are also happy to answer any other questions you may have, book restaurants and organise taxis etc., indeed anything to make your holiday more enjoyable. Navigation – how tricky is it? The canals pass through peaceful and picturesque countryside. This is reflected in the pace of the boats. In general, the maximum speed on the canal is 8km/h and you should expect to average around 6km/h. A canal cruise is an opportunity to slow down, enjoy the countryside, and respect the nature. Each day, a few hours cruising is sufficient to give you a change of scenery, and the choice of mooring the boat either in the towns or villages, or in the middle of the countryside against the tow-path, wherever the mood takes you. Locks & Lock Keepers During your cruise you will have to “lock through”! But do not worry, this is a simple process which can also be a lot of fun. The locks in France are either automatic or operated by a lock keeper. You do not have to operate the locks yourself, but you do have to control you boat and use the ropes. (This will all be explained during the demonstration). Passing through a lock will take around 15mins, and this is a chance to chat to the lock keeper, meet other boat crews and to even purchase some local produce. The lock charges are covered in your “navigation forfait” and you do not have to pay the lock keepers. Lock opening hours are typically 09.00-12.00 & 13.00-19.00, although this does vary from region to region. The locks are usually shut on the 1st of May and the 14th of July. Parking All bases offer secure parking for cars plus a limited amount of garaged parking which is best to reserve in advance. Start and Finishing Times Most bases offer Friday, Saturday and Monday start days. Pick up time is 15.00 and return is 09.00 on the final day. Navigation forfait This is the only compulsory extra charge payable at the base, the deposits are refundable. This is based on the engine hours cruised, at the appropriate rate for each boat. The navigation forfait covers, fuel, gas, lock charges and other consumables. On those boats with a separate generator there is a lower hourly rate, just to cover the cost of the fuel used. Note: Most people cruise between 25 and 30 hours a week. Children, Pets, Bikes BBQ’s etc. Children enjoy the canals, and there are many activities for them along the canal side. Swimming, play grounds, fishing, cycling etc. They can also enjoy locking through, and for the older children this is an opportunity to help & improve their French. The boats are equipped with life jackets and these come in a range of sizes to suit all ages. Pets are welcome on the boats, but you must ensure they have the appropriate documentation for travel to France. We can also help organise the vet’s visit prior to your return home if necessary. We do not however have any pet’s life jackets. Bikes are the perfect accompaniment to a canal cruise. They provide some exercise off of the boat and are ideal for, visiting villages a little way from the canal, collecting the baguette and croissants, and for checking out the local restaurants. Many of the canal-side tow-paths have been turned into long distance cycle routes. These are usually metalled and are perfect for cycling in a safe & car-free zone. BBQ’s are available for hire with charcoal & firelighters to be used off of the boat. The tow-path is an integral part of the canal and you may use it for your overnight stops. If you are looking for the peace and quiet of the countryside, why not enjoy it with wildlife for your neighbours, and a rural BBQ? Electricity The boats operate on 12v and have a battery bank to provide the power to the lights, ‘fridges, pumps etc. These batteries are re-charged by the engine whilst the boat is underway. The boats also have a 220v circuit and this is powered either by a shore supply cable or, on the luxury boats, by onboard generators/invertors. The 220v shore supply is available in ports and in some towns and villages, and, like the water, it is often free in towns and villages, but is charged for in ports. The 220v is not a necessity, but powers luxury items such as air conditioning, and any personnel items you may wish to bring (e.g. Hair dryers). Fuel, Gas and Water When you arrive your boat will be full of fuel, gas and water. Unless you are cruising for three weeks or more it will not be necessary to top up with fuel, or to replace the gas bottles. Both of these items are included together with the lock fees in your navigation forfait. Water however, will be required, the boats usually have autonomy of 2-3 days, but it is wise to top up the tank when the opportunity presents itself, or at least every other day. Water is usually available in towns and villages and in ports along the canal. It is often free in towns and villages, but you should expect to pay a few Euros to fill up in the ports.  If you have any questions, we can answer those through GetMyBoat’s messaging platform before you pay. Conditions of Hire 1 Booking - All the holidays published herein are subject to availability. The Company reserves the right to change the details of or withdraw any holiday prior to a contract with the hirer being secured. A reservation is only accepted as a booking once the booking form, duly completed and signed, together with the FULL Payment as detailed on the booking form, is received by the Company. The contract exists between the Hirer and the Company once the invoice has been issued by the Company. 2 Availability – Every effort is made to meet the Hirers’ requests for the choice of boat and dates. If for any reason beyond the Company’s control, apart from Force Majeure (see condition 6), this is not possible nor is it possible to provide an acceptable alternative, the Company will refund any hire monies paid to the Company by the Hirer and thereupon it’s liability to the Hirer will cease. 3 Modifications – If the Hirer makes any modification to the booking after the confirmation and invoice is issued, an alteration fee of £25 will be charged for each and every re invoicing.The Company accepts no liability for errors on the Invoice or Balance of hire and voucher documents made by the Company for any aspect of the holiday or package holiday if the hirer has not notified the said error to the Company prior to the departure date.The Hirer must notify the Company immediately if there are any alterations to the crew members or if there are any additional crew members wishing to join the party. Each new member will be required to pay their Initial Payment as detailed on the booking form and supply the company with their details for Insurance purposes. New booking forms are available on request. The Company endeavors to ensure that all the information contained within this brochure is correct at the time of printing. If however an error or other change is discovered apart from as a result of an unusual or unforeseeable event or a Force Majeur, after the brochure has been printed we reserve the right to make any changes to bookings as may be necessary. In all instances the Hirer will be notified as soon as is reasonably practicable.Apart from as indicated below, modifications will not be accepted by the Company as grounds for cancellation by the Hirer. If however the change is one of the following, the Company will, upon the instructions of the Hirer, attempt to alter the booking with any refund or extra charge being accepted by the Hirer, or refund the hire charge already paid (and thereupon its liability to the Hirer will cease): - Change of Boat to one that is of a lesser standard than originally booked - Change of region in the country booked - Cancellation of the holiday by the Company or the Operator 4 Aptitude – The Hirer must be over 18 and is responsible for the Boat and its equipment during the period of hire.The Operator reserves the right to refuse to hand over a boat to any Hirer, who in the opinion of the Operator is not suitable to take charge. In such a case the Company will refund the total hire charge paid and its liability to the Hirer will thereupon cease. The Operator reserves the right to repossess a boat from a Hirer who in the opinion of the Operator is not suitable to continue the cruise.The Hirer must inform the Company of any medical condition which may affect their ability to either cruise or live on board a boat for the duration of their holiday. 5 Insurance – The Company is responsible for the insurance of the boat, but whilst on holiday on the boat the Hirer is responsible for its gear and equipment.A security deposit and in many instances a cleaning deposit both as indicated on your hire Invoice is payable on arrival at the base. (see condition 13) The Hirer is responsible for any damage to the boat its gear and equipment up to this amount. 6 Force Majeure – The Company accepts no liability or responsibility if the Hirers holiday is cancelled or altered due to Force Majeure. 7 Cancellation – In the event of cancellation, the Hirer must notify the Company by telephone and on the same day send a letter by first class mail or fax to the French address confirming the cancellation. The date of the cancellation is effective from the date we receive written notice. The costs retained by the Company are as follows: - cancellation more than 30 days before departure date £75 to cover administration costs. - cancellation before 30 days before departure date 30% of the total hire cost - cancellation less than 30 days before the departure date 100% of the total hire cost 8 Boat Descriptions – Boat layout plans, specifications and illustrations in the brochure are for general guidance. Some boats within classes may have variations.The Company accepts no Liability for any minor errors in the boat layouts and descriptions. 9 Navigation – The Hirer must conform to the laws governing inland waterways navigation as well as to the instruction given by the Operator and by the navigation authorities. If advised of an infringement of this condition the Operator may repossess the boat and the Hirer will be responsible for all expenses incurred even in excess of the security deposit. All navigation at night, racing, or towing of other vessels, or subletting or loan of the boat, is strictly forbidden.The Company accepts no responsibility and will make no refunds for any interruption to the Hirers’ cruises due to repairs, flooding, drought, strike or any cause beyond the Company’s control.The Company or the Operator reserve the right to recall the boat or restrict cruising areas if unusual or hazardous conditions prevail. No minor can control the boat without the supervision of an adult. 10 Hire Periors and Routes – Unless otherwise agreed bookings are for one week at the date, time and place of embarkation stated on the Hire invoice. The boat is supplied as described in the brochure and in accordance with the details indicated on the Hire Invoice and Confirmation of Hire notwithstanding condition 8 herein. Late return of the boat will be charged at 100 euro an hour or part thereof. In the event of a previous client returning the boat in a state unfit for navigation, the Operator will reimburse the Hirer on a pro rata basis for any navigation time lost in excess of 7 hours. The Company reserves the right should it be necessary for operational reasons to alter the place of embarkation and/or disembarkation, to change a one way cruise into a return cruise or vice versa and such changes will not be considered as grounds of cancellation. The Operator will refund a one way supplement if they convert the cruise to a return. For one way cruises the boat must be returned to the base advised by the Company.The confirmation of the departure base and return base for the one way cruises will be confirmed by the Company 14 days prior to departure. Car transfers of the clients vehicles are undertaken under the Hirers own Insurances.The Hirer must ensure that adequate insurance is in place to cover the Operators and that the vehicle is in a fit and safe state to be moved. 11 Accident – The Boat must be returned to the Operator in the same state that it was handed over to the Hirer. The Hirer must inform the Operator of any loss, damage, breakage or theft. In the event of an accident, damage to the boat, to other boats or to the waterways, the Hirer must a) obtain the name of all the boats involved, the names of the people involved and the names of any witnesses; b) inform the Operator of all details of the damage as soon as possible. No repairs are to be undertaken without the prior agreement of the Operator. The Hirer is responsible for any fines issued by the authorities for loss of water or damage to the waterways. Neither the Operator nor the Company accepts any liability for lost time or damage or expenses incurred by the Hirer as a result of any accident. 12 Boat Delays or curtailments – The Company will not accept liability for loss or damage or expenses resulting from any defect or breakdown unless it is proved to be caused by the Operators failure to adequately maintain the boat in a fit condition for navigation.The Hirer must inform the Operator immediately of any breakdown, failure of the engine or equipment for which the Hirer is responsible so that remedial action can be taken as necessary.The Hirer has no right of recourse against the Operator or the Company if this condition is not complied with, or if the breakdown is caused by the Hirer’s negligence or in ignorance of the instructions given. 13 Deposits – A security deposit and at many of the bases, a Cleaning Deposit will be asked for on the day of departure. This will be returned to the Hirer after deduction for the cost of fuel used, and any other costs incurred, on condition that the boat and its equipment are returned at the prearranged time and place, undamaged and in a good overall state of cleanliness. The Hirer will not be responsible for any damage, loss or injury which exceeds the amount of the security deposit unless it was caused by a deliberate or negligent act or default of the Hirer or crew or failure to comply with these Conditions of Hire. 14 Visa/Passport – The Hirer is totally responsible for complying with any necessary passport and/or visa requirements. Failure to do so will not be accepted as cause for cancellation and no refund will be given by The Company. 15 Complaints – If the Hirer has a complaint, whilst on holiday he must inform the Operator immediately in accordance with condition 12 above, if the Operator is unable to assist the Hirer must contact The Company.If the Hirer wants to make a claim against The Company once the holiday has been completed this must be done so in writing within 28 days of the end of the holiday with The Company. The contract between the Hirer and the Company is made on the terms of these Conditions of Hire which are governed by European Law and both parties shall submit to the jurisdiction of European Courts at all times. 16 Data Protection – Your acceptance of these conditions is your agreement for us to hold and use both personal data and sensitive personal data in pursuance of your holiday.This data will only be passed to those who require it in order for us to book your holiday. If you do not want us to hold or use this information please notify us in writing.

Das Mieten einer Linssen-Motoryacht bei einem der Linssen Boating Holidays®-Partner ist eine gute Möglichkeit, Ihr Bootsabenteuer zu beginnen. Auch wenn Sie noch nie auf einer Motoryacht gefahren sind, brauchen Sie sich keine Sorgen zu machen. Die stählernen Linssen-Yachten, sind 'langsam fahrende' Verdrängeryachten. Der Charter-Partner weist Sie in den Umgang mit Ihrer Linssen-Yacht ein und erklärt Ihnen, wie die Systeme an Bord funktionieren. Bei einer komfortablen Reisegeschwindigkeit von ca. 6-8 Knoten oder 11-15 km/h (je nach der von Ihnen gewählten Yacht) vergeht das Leben sehr langsam. Sie haben Zeit, die Landschaft, Kultur und Umgebung aus einer Position zu genießen, die Sie noch nie gesehen haben: vom Wasser aus .

Was ist für mich das richtige Schiff?

Die Charterpartner vermieten jeweils unterschiedliche Schiffstypen in Bezug auf Länge und Breite. Eine größere Yacht hat mehr Kajüten (mehr Schlafplätze), meist auch einen geräumigeren Aufenthaltsbereich und mehr technische Geräte an Bord.

AC oder Sedan?

Im Wesentlichen sind zwei Yachttypen zu unterscheiden: AC-Yachten und SEDAN-Yachten. Die nachstehenden Fotos und die zugehörigen Grundrisse geben zwei – gleichlange – Linssen-Yachten wieder. Die linke Yacht ist eine AC, die rechte eine SEDAN. Dieses Beispiel ist für eine Yacht im 40-45 Fuß (13-14 m) Segment mit drei Kabinen (AC) und zwei Kabinen (Sedan). Die Linssen 30 Fuß (10 m) und 35 Fuß (11 m) Segment Yachten verfügen über zwei (AC) und eine (Sedan) Kabine.

Layout für eine 30-35' Linssen Yacht

1. Vorderkajüte mit Doppelbett, Schrank und Stauraum

2. Salon mit Pantry/Küche, Buro und Salonbank

3. Achterkajüte mit Doppelbett, Toilette und separater Dusche*, und  Schrank- und Stauraum

3. Der Sedan-Bereich, auch offene Plicht genannt, mit Sitzbank, großer Luke unterhalb der Plicht mit viel Stauraum

Layout für eine 40' Linssen-Yacht und größer

2. Zweite Gästekajüte backbordseitig; steuerbordseitig Toilette und Dusche. Die Toilette ist von der Vorderkajüte aus und für die Gäste vom Gang aus erreichbar.

3. Salon, im Vorderteil steuerbordseitig die Küche (Pantry) und backbordseitig der „Esstisch“ (Dinette).

Dahinter der Sitzbereich mit steuerbordseitig einer geräumigen Sitzbank plus Tisch, backbordseitig einer Schrankwand.

4. Achterkajüte mit großem Doppelbett, Toilette und separater Dusche*, außerdem mit viel Schrank- und Stauraum

Der Kapitän steht im Freien und steuert das Schiff oben auf dem Achterdeck. Zum Schutz gegen die Witterung dienen Cabrioverdeck oder Bimini-Verdeck.*

Vom hohen Achterdeck aus hat er ausgezeichnete Sicht auf die Umgebung. Das Manövrieren ist durch die ausgezeichnete Sicht sehr einfach.

Vom höheren Achterdeck führt eine Treppe nach innen.

1. Vorderkajüte mit Doppelbett, Schrank und Stauraum 

2. Zweite Gästekajüte backbordseitig; steuerbordseitig Toilette und Dusche. Die Toilette ist von der Vorderkajüte aus und für die Gäste vom Gang aus erreichbar. 

 3. Salon mit im vorderen Teil steuerbordseitig dem Steuerstand, von dem aus das Schiff gefahren wird. Auf der Backbordseite befindet sich der „Esstisch“ (Dinette)

Dahinter der Sitzbereich mit steuerbordseitig einer geräumigen Sitzbank plus Tisch und backbordseitig einer geräumigen Küche (Pantry).

4. Der Sedan-Bereich, auch offene Plicht genannt, mit großer Sitzbank, Tisch, großer Luke unterhalb der Plicht und mit viel Stauraum. 

Der Kapitän steht im Innenraum

Beim Steuern vom Innenraum aus befinden Sie sich etwas näher am Wasser. 

Von der großen offenen Plicht gelangen Sie durch die großen Teakholz-Flügeltüren bequem ebenerdig nach innen. Wenn Sie das Schiff innen steuern, können Sie sich trotzdem umstandslos mit Ihren Familienangehörigen oder Freunden unterhalten, die sich hinter Ihnen auf den Sitzbänken in der offenen Pflicht aufhalten. 

Auf dem Wasser zu leben, bedeutet, dass Sie völlig ungebunden sind und hinfahren oder bleiben können, wo immer Sie wollen. Eine Reihe von praktischen Dingen müssen Sie allerdings beachten:

Ihre Linssen-Yacht besitzt je nach Typ einen Wassertank mit einem Inhalt zwischen 220 und 660 Litern. Das Wasser ist für das Waschen, Spülen, die Toilettenbenutzung und die Dusche bestimmt. Zu Hause verbrauchen wir im Schnitt täglich etwa 120 Liter Wasser pro Person. An Bord Ihrer Yacht müssen Sie daher etwas sparsamer mit Wasser umgehen. Sind Sie an Bord zu viert, dürften Sie schnell auf einen täglichen Wasserverbrauch von 100 bis 200 Litern kommen. Deshalb sollten Sie in allen Häfen, die Sie anlaufen, den Füllstand des Tanks kontrollieren und ihn ggf. auffüllen. 

Ebenso wie Ihr Wagen benötigt auch Ihre Yacht Kraftstoff, und zwar immer (normalen) Dieselkraftstoff. Der Tank fasst im Schnitt zwischen 240 und 840 Litern Dieselkraftstoff (je nach Schiff). Ihr Schiff ist mit außerordentlich sparsamen Schiffsdieselmotoren ausgerüstet. Beispiele: Eine Linssen-Yacht von 9 Metern mit einem 55-PS-Motor verbraucht bei einer Reisegeschwindigkeit von 5,5 Knoten (10 km/h) ca. 3-4 l/h und kann mit einem 240-Liter-Tank ungefähr 330 Seemeilen (600 km) zurücklegen. Eine Linssen-Yacht von 13 Metern mit einem 150-PS-Motor verbraucht bei einer Reisegeschwindigkeit von etwa 7 Knoten (13 km/h) ca. 6-7 l/h und kann mit einem 820-Liter-Tank ungefähr 800 Seemeilen (1.450 km) zurücklegen. Bei einem Chartertörn von einer Woche, bei dem Sie täglich etwa 5 Stunden unterwegs sind, verbrauchen Sie folglich rund 200 Liter Kraftstoff.

Stromversorgung, 12 V, 230 V

An Bord der Motoryachten gibt es mehrere Stromquellen. Hauptsächlich werden Sie für die Beleuchtung und andere Kleinverbraucher die 12-V-Stromquelle verwenden. Der Strom dafür kommt aus den Batterien des Bordnetzes, die – wie in Ihrem Wagen – von der Lichtmaschine des Motors aufgeladen werden. Die meisten Yachten* verfügen auch über 230-V-Steckdosen. An diese können Sie beispielsweise die Kaffeemaschine anschließen oder damit Ihre mobilen Geräte bzw. Ihren Laptop aufladen. Das klingt alles recht kompliziert, aber in der Praxis werden Sie davon kaum etwas merken. Die Systeme sind so ausgelegt, dass sie sich ggf. automatisch ein- und ausschalten.
