Does the skipper speak english or any other language.

All skippers who work with Croatia Yachting speak Croatian and are fluent in English . If you or your party are not comfortable with English, we also have a crew fluent in other languages.

Tip: The multilingual crew get booked first, so you should book ASAP.

Can we make specific requests regarding the skipper?

Absolutely and we will do everything we can to make this happen . If you have special requests like – “Age (younger/older), good with kids, non-smoker, knows good party spots…” Whatever it may be, just let us know; the more information we have, the better we can match the perfect skipper for you.

Do you assign a skipper or do we get to choose?

Our standard procedure is that we gather as much information about you and your party as possible (i.e. preferences, yacht, itinerary), then we send you 2 – 3 CVs, and you choose your captain.

Will I have privacy during our yacht charter?

If you're worried about your privacy while having a skipper on board, it's important to know that the skipper will adjust according to your preferences . We are asked this question many ways – “ What if we don’t want the skipper to always be with us” or “ We value our privacy”. Alternatively, we also hear – “ We would like the skipper to be actively involved in our holiday”. The easy answer is – both are possible. If you want to spend your time in the company of your friends and family, the skipper will respect your wishes and stay out of your way. However, if you want more interaction and conversation, he'll be up for it. Communicate openly with your skipper throughout the week, and we trust you will find a perfect rhythm with your skipper.

Where does the skipper sleep on a boat?

Skippers must have their own accommodation on the boat. If you plan to charter a yacht with a skipper (and/or hostess), it is best to charter a yacht which already has separate crew cabins. 

If crew accommodation is not planned in the layout, then it is customary to leave one cabin for the skipper/hostess. Sometimes skippers sleep in the saloon but this is not something we advise as the crew needs time to rest so they can give you their best.

How much does a skipper cost?

Typically, crew fees depend on the level of their experience and the size of the yacht. However, to help you budget , the cost of a skipper in Croatia is usually between 150 – 250 EUR per day.

This fee does not include meals for the crew; your crew can either join you for meals or you can allow 30 EUR per crew member, per day. Also, note that this fee does not include gratuity.

Should we tip our skipper in Croatia?

We recommend you keep tipping in mind while you're planning your holiday budget. Although tipping is not mandatory in Croatia, a tip of 10%-20% of the charter price is customary , especially if you're satisfied with the skipper's service.

Where does a hostess sleep?

The front bow cabins on catamarans are usually occupied with the crew, that is why we recommend to charter sailing yacht with 2 separate crew cabins. Most of the sailing catamarans in Croatia have such a layout. Sometimes, the crew can also sleep in the salon, but it is not something we advise, since everyone needs time to rest, so they can give you their best during the day.

It is also customary to take care of the crew's meals on your sailing trip. Feel free to invite your crew to join you at the dinner, they will be more than happy. If you wish to dine in privacy, they can east separately.
