BVI’s Charter Yacht Society Boat Show 2021
The autumn edition of this important event linked to the world of yacht charters has just taken place. The wonderful setting of the Caribbean , in particular the British Virgin Islands , hosted the umpteenth edition of this magnificent nautical event which saw a large fleet of charter yachts gather at the Nanny Cay Resort and Marina in Tortola for 3 days, from 3 to 6 November last.
For this short period of time, the BVI has become the center of international interest of the nautical sector, as well as a heavenly place made of fantastic seabeds perfect for diving, rich in biodiversity, and perfect to sail from one island to another driven by sweets and gentle trade winds.
The BVI’s Charter Yacht Society boat show 2021 took place last week
What is the cys boat show.
The Fall BVI Charter Yacht Show is a showcase not only of the best-crewed catamarans for charter in the British Virgin Islands as well as sailing and motor yachts. This fantastic show kicks off the Caribbean tourist season when it comes to yacht charter and sees the participation of more than 100 charter brokers and many representatives of other industries from all over the world.
Competitive events are also organized such as themed cooking competitions where chefs create meals to impress the judges. The event also includes day visions, information seminars, competitions for the present fleets, and many social events. There is no shortage of fun in the absolutely magnificent setting of the Nanny Cay Marina port.
The boats present are rather small in size, however, they stand out for their elegant lines and good looks.
When and where did it take place?
As has become customary, the Nanny Cay Resort and Marina hosted the CYS Charter Yacht Show for the autumn 2021 edition, from Wednesday 3 to Saturday 6 November.
On the island of Tortola , in the British Virgin Islands, there is in fact the place where the Charter Yacht Society is based and where these types of events are organized annually.
Which audience is it aimed at?
If you are an international yacht charter broker or tour operator operating in the Caribbean, you will certainly know and perhaps have had the opportunity to participate in this event. The Tortola Charter Boat Show is in fact a large exhibition of rental boats and is therefore mainly aimed at operators in the nautical sector, with dozens, or perhaps hundreds, of international brokers as well as industry suppliers, captains, chefs, and crews on board. In addition, the event gives local companies the opportunity to offer their quality products such as fine wines, gourmet foods, or personalized services, all to offer charter boat customers the utmost respect possible.
Who organizes the event annually?
The organization of the event is fully managed by the Charter Yacht Society (CYS), a registered non-profit organization founded in 1982 by independent owners of crewed charter boats based in the British Virgin Islands. It is the only body recognized by the local government for the crewed yacht charter sector.
CYS also represents the organized voice of individual BVI-based yacht operators and those who charter boats in these islands.
If you are interested in participating in the next edition of the event or, more simply, you want to rent a sailboat or yacht in these parts, do not hesitate to contact Your Boat Holiday!

2021 Spring Charter Show
We couldn’t be prouder to announce the BVI currently has ZERO Covid cases. And almost all of our charter crews have had at least one of their two vaccinations. Yet, we recognize this is not the story for much of the world and certainly not where most of our brokers reside. For that reason our 2021 Spring Show – May 12th – 13th - will be a hybrid show this year. It will be a combination of real time and virtual at our host venue Nanny Cay Resort and Marina.
BOATS AND CREWS IN THE BVI: Nanny Cay is offering FREE dockage (utilities excepted) effective between 10th May - 14th May. See details below in General Information for Yachts on Docks
WHO CAN SIGN UP: The show is open to all term charter crewed yachts. You do not need to be CYS member to attend, although members do enjoy year round benefits as well as a discounted show. Be sure to check out the benefits.
VENDORS: We will be hosting a scaled down version of our traditional Vendor’s Night on Tuesday May 11th. Booth space will be available for businesses wanting to engage one on one with locally based crews. Those attending virtually will also be able to “visit” the booths, see the display and meet the staff. Stay tuned for more information.
As the Sailing Capital of the World our waters remain azure blue and an average temperature of 80 degrees fahrenheit. The trade winds blow predictably and steadily year round. So much has changed this year but our destination has not.
EVERYONE: Things are looking up. Charter guests are loving the BVI while the marine traffic is quiet and anchorages secluded. Want to secure your spot now before the rush? We are offering a 20% discount on the show fee if paid in full by April 1st. Registration is open!
How it will work…
Crews and their boats.
- Whether you are in the BVI or not, onboard your boat or not, you can be a part of the show.
- Once you are registered each crew will be given a time window in which their live stream or pre-recorded video will be aired. They will then be able to entertain live broker questions in a host led meeting. We will give you recommendations & helpful hints to create the optimum show reel, whether live or pre recorded, nearer the time.
- You will be given a link to access the “meeting room” where brokers will be congregating after your featured presentation. Brokers will engage with you and be given the opportunity to set up a one-on-one meeting at a later time.
- There will be side “events” which local & distant crews and brokers will be encouraged to attend and will create a boatshow feel despite the distance.
NOTE: Due to the nature of a virtual show registration for boats will have to close on 5th May.
- Registered brokers will be given a personal password to enter the inner sanctum of the dedicated event website
- Each boat will have a portal and a featured time slot for the release of their pre-recorded promo reel or their live stream.
- Live Q&A will be time restricted but lead by a Host to make the most of this arena.
- A contact form will be included at each portal enabling brokers to set up a subsequent one-on-one meeting with crews.
- There will be side “events” which will create a boatshow feel despite the distance

- British Virgin Islands Yacht Charter Show
British Virgin Islands Yacht Charter show is an annual Yacht Charter Broker event. We have the opportunity to inspect many of the crewed catamarans, sailboats that our clients charter. The vacations in Nature’s Little Secret, the British Virgin Islands , are very popular because of these charters.
Yacht chartering in the British Virgin Islands is a combination of beautiful beaches, moderate sailing, lots of marinas, great snorkeling. In addition there is decent cuisine on shore with excellent cuisine on the crewed yachts.
Yesterday traveling from Virgin Gorda to Tortola was amazing. I took the ferry from Virgin Gorda to Road Town, Tortola. It is fast and comfortable thirty minute ride on a power catamaran. The blue water, wonderful wind, the boats out sailing and the BVI Islanders on the ferry heading to work and school. I kept shaking my head and smiling. It was so beautiful. Crowning it all were the crewed yachts I visited at the British Virgin Islands Yacht-Charter Show, mono-hulls, and lots of catamarans at the show:
- Secret Oasis
Lots of tasty snacks, great crews, some who were new, and well-maintained yachts .
It is good to be here.

Continue reading “Yacht show includes local experiences”
The Charter Yacht Society’s annual Fall Charter Yacht Show, which concluded on Friday, showcased how the territory’s marine sector is emerging from the Covid-19 storm with guests eager to sail and local businesses reopen- ing to tourism.
“This year a lot of our clients are wanting to travel to the British Virgin Islands,” Charter Yacht Brokers Association President June Montagne told the Beacon on Tuesday.
Ms. Montagne was one of more than two dozen brokers who attended the show in Nanny Cay. She said that following new protocols in place due to the pandemic was helpful for her as a broker.
“It was imperative for us to experience the procedure of flying in, getting tested, and experiencing the protocols of getting into the [VI],” she said.
Also during the three-day event, brokers were given a first-hand look at some of the recently reopened resorts, like Saba Rock and Oil Nut Bay.
Altogether, 18 boats participated in the semi-virtual show — still a low number for an event that routinely drew more than three times that many before the pandemic and Hurricane Irma.
But organiser Janet Oliver said the low turnout largely rested on boats being out on the water during a busy charter season compared to last year.
United Kingdom-based broker Sasha King said the smaller show allowed for a relaxed atmosphere and more networking. “Everything is happening in an environment that allows people to take it in at their own pace,” she said.
Starting Nov. 3, brokers, boats and crew gathered at Nanny Cay marina, where ten boats took up a dock and eight others participated virtually. Yacht showings began that day, as crewmembers showed brokers around the boats.
“We were able to spend a lot of good quality time on board with the chefs and the crew,” Ms. Montagne said. During a vendors’ night, more than 24 local businesses showcased their goods and services.
The next day, the event included virtual elements as well as in-person experiences on Virgin Gorda, Saba Rock and Tortola.
Twenty-two brokers were able to participate in tailored excursions to the islands over the course of two days.
They went from Nanny Cay to North Sound and over to Saba Rock, which recently reopened to the public after remaining shuttered since Hurricane Irma in 2017.
They were then able to tour Oil Nut Bay and drive around Virgin Gorda.
‘A lot more fresh’
Ms. King, who attended her first yacht show in 2017, said she was pleased to see how the territory has changed over the years.
“The infrastructure has changed. The whole scenery of the island looks a lot more fresh and tidy,” she said. “Every time I arrive, it’s very obviously better in that respect.”
Later that day, show participants were able to enjoy cocktails and canapes at Indigo House in Cane Garden Bay. A bonfire was set up on the beach behind the restaurant and bar, while a tour of the Callwood Rum Distillery was also on offer.
Such local experiences are what many brokers hope to emphasise to charter yacht guests, they said.
“The [VI] show attracts the kind of brokers that are more independent rather than huge brokerages,” Ms. King said. “These people tend to be more interested in the local experiences.”
The final day of the show included another tour of North Sound for a second group of brokers, yacht viewings, and an award presentation by the CYS and the Charter Yacht Brokers Association.
After the VI show, both Mses. King and Montagne at- tended the United States VI Charter Yacht Show, which took place earlier this week. Ms. King returned to this territory yesterday to continue exploring the islands.
The CYS hosts the Spring Charter Yacht Show and the Fall Charter Yacht Show each year.

2023 BVI & USVI Fall Charter Yacht Shows: Winner Highlights
by Federico Lopez on Dec 26, 2023
Ritzy Charters Brokers recently attended the industry trade shows held in the BVI and USVI . As every year, spending time among the best in this industry has been an amazing, heartwarming experience - and that’s both for the boutique-style Charter Yachts and their crews!
Attending yacht shows is crucial for us to gain in-depth knowledge about the yachts we offer to our clients. It is equally important for reconnecting with industry contacts like yacht managers and building new relationships that enable us to provide an exceptional customer service experience.
The BVI show was held November 7-10 at Nanny Cay Resort & Marina, Tortola, and the USVI Show followed November 11-14 at IGY Marina’s Yacht Haven Grande, St. Thomas. The shows were the largest the industry has seen in recent years, with a record yacht and brokers attendance: 50 crewed yachts and more than 120 charter brokers attended the BVI Fall Show; while 70 yachts, and 140 charter brokers from the Caribbean, U.S., and Europe were present at the USVI Show.
Our brokers had the opportunity to witness the yachts available for charter in the area, interact with the crews, and taste the chef's delicacies in the galley through a special invite for lunch or dinner during the show.
Apart from the prestigious culinary competition, the crews also participated in contests for Best Cocktail, Best Crew, and the top prize, Best in Show, which takes into account the overall presentation, special details of the yacht, and the attitude and energy of the crew. 37th BVI Charter Show
A bit of rain could not keep members of the British Virgin Islands’ boating community away from one of their industry’s biggest events. CYS Executive Director Janet Oliver said the annual show was a success, drawing new charter yacht additions and a growing interest in the participation of brokers from the Mediterranean.
The schedule included the usual contests, a draw from an assortment of BVI charities, a puppy adoption program through PAW BVI, and the enchanting “Sundowners at Six” - a night showcase of the yachts’ night lights and table settings.

USVI Charter Yacht Show
Over the last seven years, the charter yacht industry in the U.S. Virgin Islands has shown great resilience in the face of various challenges, including hurricanes and a global pandemic. As a result, it has grown into a formidable economic force, generating $88 million annually. This has helped to put the U.S. territory on the global map as the premier maritime destination in the Caribbean, particularly for boutique-style, exquisitely customized crewed yacht charter vacations.
The USVI Charter Yacht Show showcased a fleet of yachts ranging from 42 to over 105 feet in size. The yachts comprised both power and sail, multihulls and monohulls, and were accompanied by bespoke crews. These crews provided customized vacation experiences for guests, rather than a cookie-cutter approach.

What yacht charter are you looking for?
Bvi yacht charters.
Welcome to CharterGuru, a brokerage for 500+ charter yachts in the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. The list of charter yachts available is continuously updated. We are brokers who have either lived or crewed in the BVI. Crewed yachts- sailboats, motoryachts, catamarans, all filtrable and a click away. We specialize in BVI catamaran charters, where we know majority of the boats and crews in person, having crewed on yachts like Twin or King’s Ransom. Also, check out our TrustPilot score, we’re doing our best to work hard for the client.
Most BVI charters start in Tortola. Nevertheless, it’s possible to start a crewed charter in Saint Thomas in the US Virgin Island. Not all yachts are able to start the charter in the USVI. You’ll either want a yacht that is based in the USVI or we can arrange a St. Thomas pickup (with many yachts).

Types of charter
There are two primary ways to break down the BVI yacht charters: crew and power.
- By the primary type of power used to move the boat around: Sailboat Motor yacht
- The secondary sorting is by crew that is available on the chartered yacht. Crewed Yacht Captain Only
Crewed charter
The crewed charter usually includes at least a captain and a chef. The boat is provisioned according to guest wishes and preferences. Since all the work is handled by the crew (captain handles the boat and the chef handles the food, and often more (diving, watersports)), the guests can really have a relaxed, laid back time.
Captain only charter
Captain only charters are a good middle ground between the crewed charters and the bareboat charters. It’s very much like car rental. You do the paperwork and rent the boat. Local experience of the crew should not be underestimated. A captain will know secret spots and is able to quickly analyze your preferences and types of vacation you wish (or need).
Common Issues On a BVI Yacht Charters
- I got a boat from USVI – will I find out, after I sign the contract, that we’ll not go to the BVI at all?
- All Inclusive – what does it include?
- Air Conditioning – does it run during the night?
- APA- Advance Provisioning Allowance – are you going to have a daily overview?
- Crew – what is the real crew feedback? How did they do on their last charters?
- Crew Change – is your crew a part of the contract?
Not So Obvious Issues
- are your cruising taxes included?
- how long is your immigration procedure going to take? Minutes or hours?
- will I loose a day in order to catch a Ferry to get a STT morning flight?
Bareboat charter
Bareboat charter is the budget friendly option for qualified sailors. Originally intended for people who know the area, the price convenience caused that today, many of the bareboat captains would be better off with a captain only charter. If you haven’t been to the BVI before or you haven’t that much experience sailing the boat you wish to charter (rent), consider a captain only charter, you will thank us later:) At the moment, we don’t include bareboats in our search, please inquire directly and we can find a matching bareboat for you.
List of BVI charter companies
Most people would start with 50 islands and cays, right? Let’s start with the relaxed and chilled atmosphere where liming was invented (drinking/eating and chilling for hours without a defined schedule). It’s the freedom that you can have when sail to bars like Willy T, the optimism and positive energy that you recuperate over the course of your vacation, that’s what makes the BVI special.
You can immediately tell the people who arrived yesterday. Full of stress, solving small things… a bundle of nerves that we turn into after prolonged experience with the “real world.” After a few painkillers (the BVI signature drink) or Frozen Margaritas (Willy T is the place), every pain diminishes and the problems fade away. These same people leave after a week smiling, optimistic and full of energy.
Snorkeling at the Indians, diving the Wreck of Rhone, surfing at Bomba Shack (Capoons Bay) or a visit to The Baths (Virgin Gorda) are the part of charter that provide those memorable moments people have been coming back for.

This Billionaire Playground has been started in the 50’s and 60’s by the Washburn family, picking up momentum throughout the 70’s and 80’s. Notably, Sir Richard Branson purchased his second island, Moskito Island, in a prominent location in the North Sound.

Apart from the main factor, you can see people windsurfing and kiting. Some of the most beautiful BVI diving locations are located here, namely the beautiful Mountain Point, Cow’s Mouth and Paul’s Grotto near Mountain Bay.
One of the main islands is very well known for yacht anchorages. On Jost Van Dyke will find amazing bars, restaurants with the pure Caribbean vibe. Once you come on your yacht charter to White Bay you will not want to leave ever. In the White Bay, the time stopped and you will have so much fun on your charter. Cold famous painkillers with delicious local food, you have to try this little nature secret in this paradise.
Norman Island is known as Treasure Island and was the inspiration for the pirate novel of Robert Louis Stevenson. This island is the perfect place where to sail on your yacht charter if you are looking for adventure which may end with found treasure. After snorkelling and exploring many caves which Norman Island offers, you can sail to Bight for outstanding food in Pirates Bight Restaurant and The Club Restaurant.
Place where you must charter is The Baths. This spectacular place will enchant you and you will fall in love with the Baths. What is so special about this place so you have to charter there? Answers are simply, there are few places on earth that are quite so stunningly beautiful and this part of Virgin Gorda is among them. Big rocks settled in the silky soft sand are breathtaking and once you climb thru them you will finish in Devils Bay.

Why use a CYBA Certified Yacht Charter Broker?
Key Takeaways:
As a member of CYBA, the Charter Yacht Broker’s Association, we adhere to strict yacht charter booking protocols. We have access to the CYBA industry escrow account to protect your money.
Charter yacht crews, yacht owners and travel agents do not have access to this account.
If it is a busy yacht with lots of charters, the crew are taking care of guests onboard and they honestly do not have time to answer a lot of travel questions.
This is what differentiates professionally licensed yacht brokers from anyone else trying to book charters.
Very Important! It is not safe to send your hard-earned money directly to a business or yacht that is not accredited by a professional charter industry association to handle yacht charter client funds. Always ask!
We have access to the The CYBA E-Contract Charter Agreement. It is made available by CYBA for electronic use only by established, industry recognized and reputable Yacht Brokers.
Choose from an extensive list of yachts, including our spacious and stable catamaran charters , power catamarans , traditional monohull sailboat vacations , or high-end luxury motor yacht charters in the U.S. Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Belize, Croatia. Greece, and the Mediterranean.
We do not sell yachts like many other agencies so there is no conflict or distraction in our focus for your yacht charter. Our service is free to you. We travel extensively to boat shows and yacht charter shows year-round to personally view and inspect as many of the yachts as possible.
6 Reasons Why We are Qualified:
1. As Members of the Charter Yacht Brokers Association, The Virgin Islands Professional Charter Yacht League, and the BVI Charter Yacht Society, we maintain contact with the yachts to keep abreast of the very latest information on crew/yacht conditions and new yachts entering the arena.
2. We stay on top of local and Federal Governments to keep informed about changes in our industry, as well as involve ourselves with the changes in the environment in which we offer charters.
3. We engage in open dialogue with local publications to help keep the government and the public aware of this important industry in our islands.
4. We attend multiple charter yacht industry shows in the Caribbean and Mediterranean, go aboard each of the yachts, meet the crews, attend association meetings and seminars. We'll happily share our notes about changes to the boats and crews and confirm any newly added features and upgrades as well as re-fits to the boat’s decor like new carpets, interior and exterior soft goods & fun new water toys.
5. As a seasoned charter yacht Owner & Crew, we have access to the "inner circle" and know all the insider facts. 6. We've developed a longtime friendship with vendors of services such as local taxi drivers, ferry companies, good places to stay on land, great restaurants, and much more.

Time for a bigger boat? Check out what the Palm Beach International Boat Show has to offer
Whether you're the son of a son of a sailor or even just love that song and want to know more, the granddaddy of all boating events is happening this weekend along the West Palm Beach waterfront.
That's right, the Palm Beach International Boat Show is back for four glorious days along Flagler Drive.
This will be the 42nd annual event, and organizers promise it will be bigger and better than ever.
There will be $1.2 billion worth of Bond-worthy super yachts, cruisers, sportfishing boats, center consoles and even inflatables to see and tour, along with attractions and activities highlighting the latest in boat engines, motors and accessories. There will also be the latest fishing gear and even fishing seminars.
Yes, it's a big event, but don't be intimidated. In fact, here are seven fun facts about the show:
How many boats can this boat show boast?
There will be more than 800 boats on display along the floating docks in the Intracoastal Waterway.
What is the biggest boat at the boat show?
With a length of 236 feet (and 38 feet wide), Casino Royale takes the title for largest boat this year. This gorgeous yacht, designed for her exterior lines by Francesco Paszkowski with interior by Paszkowski’s interior lead designer Margherita Casprini, is also one of the most technically advanced yachts in her category. Casino Royale is powered by twin Caterpillar 3516B main engines and has an impressive top speed of 17.5 knots. You can put your checkbooks away for this one, however, as she is only on display and not for sale.
This boat is the boat show's most epensive
Built in 2022 and 196-feet long, Come Together is listed for $59,950,000. This expedition yacht was delivered by the Dutch shipyard Amels and features interior styling by British designer Winch Design. It can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in six cabins along with 14 crew members.
Are spectators allowed to go on the boats?
To go onboard the yachts and superyachts, visitors must make an appointment with the brokers. For the smaller boats, however, spectators can come onboard if they are interested in buying.
What is the smallest boat?
The smallest boat being displayed on the water is a runabout boat that is 22-feet-6-inches long, and 5-feet-11 wide. It is manufactured by Hermes.
Eating inside the boat show
The show will have dozens of food concessions featuring almost anything you could be craving, from Greek gyros to woodfired picanha, authentic street tacos and hand-crafted burgers. On a seafood diet? Enjoy fresh stone crab claws, calamari, oysters, and much more! Vegetarian, vegan, and/or gluten-free? No problem; they have options for you as well.
And libations at the boat show?
Of course there will be drinks. To be precise, there will be four bars for general admission guests, including two floating cocktail barges: the Goslings Island Bar and the Anheuser-Busch Barge. In addition there will be multiple bars in the Windward VIP Club.

For superyacht shoppers, the Palm Beach International Boat Show, kicking off its four-day run this week, is set to break records with more than 60 yachts over 100 feet long on display. Last year was also a banner year for superyachts at the show.
Headliners will include the likes of the 295-foot Corsair Nero , the 278-foot Victorious by AKYacht, the 230-foot Turquoise-built Talisman C , and 213-foot Benetti Triumph among brokerage yachts, and in new yachts, the 113-foot Ocean Alexander Puro 35 is making its world debut.
There are so many gleaming white vessels over 100 feet, in fact, that the fleet will be split between the Palm Harbor Marina at the main show site on the downtown West Palm Beach waterfront and the Safe Harbor Rybovich Marina two miles north.
Now in its 42nd year, PBIBS will also showcase hundreds of models of dayboats, cruisers, and fishing boats, as well as marine accessories. Running from this Thursday through Sunday, the show coincides with the Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary art show, a fortuitous opportunity for yacht owners wanting to add new art to their collections.
Here are 10 must-see boats at this year’s show.
Corsair Yachts ‘Nero’
The undisputed star of this year’s Palm Beach show? That would be the 295-foot, classically styled superyacht Nero , built in 2007 and inspired by American financier J.P. Morgan’s legendary 1930s steamer Corsair IV . Nero ‘s attendance at PBIBS marks its return to the charter market after an extensive refit in 2021. Now better than new, the boat is being managed by Burgess. With weekly charter rates from $497,000, the vessel offers five-star accommodations for 12 guests in six cabins, with pampering from a crew of 20. Part of the refit included a full interior refresh by Italian interior designer Laura Pomponi, plus a major focus on wellness. That meant the construction of a new, state-of-the-art gym and spa, the assistance of a certified onboard trainer, a masseuse and beautician. After PBIBS, Nero will spend the winter in the Caribbean before returning to the Med for the summer season.
Ocean Alexander Puro 35P
Ocean Alexander is debuting the first of its new Puro superyacht series at PBIBS. The 113-foot Puro 35P comes from the drawing board of Italian designer Giorgio M. Cassetta and is a step back from the polarizing lines of OA’s recent Revolution and Explorer series with their bold, vertical bow designs. Aimed at long-distance cruising, the 35P can carry over 5,000 gallons of fuel and is powered by twin 2,000 hp MAN V12s for a 24-knot top speed. Twin 55kW Kohler generators can also keep the yacht powered at anchor for long periods. Other standout features include extensive glazing in the chiseled fiberglass hull, a forward deck plunge pool, and spacious accommodations for 10 guests.
Think of it as the “starter” Sirena. Aimed at a younger demographic, the Turkish builder’s brand-new Sirena 48 is making its U.S. debut at PBIBS after a global reveal at last fall’s Cannes boat show. Such is its appeal that 27 hulls have already been sold, with 13 of the orders coming from North America. Looking like a scaled-down version of Sirena’s popular 58, its distinctive, trawler-style lines are from Argentinian designer Germán Frers. With more interior space than a typical 48-footer, the yacht offers three staterooms—plus a crew cabin—a spacious, light-filled salon, a large cockpit, an oversized flybridge, and a vast forward social area. Take your pick from twin 550 hp Cummins QSB, or 670 hp Volvo D11 turbo diesels. Or the builder is also offering hybrid power with twin 285 hp electric motors charged up by variable-speed generators that are good for a 30-mile battery-only range.
Feadship ‘Olympus’
Picture purchasing a classic 180-foot Feadship superyacht, and then getting a $10 million bill for a major refit. That was the case with Olympus , built by the Dutch masters at Feadship in 1996 to a design by Britain’s Andrew Winch and the celebrated naval architect Frits De Voogt. Sold in 2022, the new owner sent it to the Monaco Marine refit center in La Ciotat, France for a major makeover. It included overhauling the 2,600 hp Caterpillar engines and generators, repairs to the structure, substantial upgrades to the guest areas and crew quarters, and new paint throughout. With the work completed just last year, the vessel is said to be in mint condition. Offered jointly by brokers Fraser and Edmiston, Olympus has an asking price of $28.5 million. With accommodations for 16 guests in eight cabins, the boat’s highlights include two primary suites, tropical-spec air conditioning, and Palm Beach-chic decor.
Benetti ‘Triumph’
Italian yachting powerhouse Benetti is showing off its superyacht-building skills with the 213-foot Triumph . Delivered in 2021, this Giorgio M. Cassetta-designed steel-and-aluminum world girder features six decks, a 1,400-square-foot primary suite with outdoor terrace and adjoining lounge, a 750-square-foot beach club, and a touch-and-go helipad. What sets Triumph apart, however, is its lavish interior furnishings put together by the owner along with Benetti Interior Style and Monaco-based Green & Mingarelli Design. It includes pieces by French glassmaker Lalique, marble from Marfil, Statuario and Armani, furs, silk and wool carpets, plus a collection of cool black-and-white wildlife photographs by British fine art photographer David Yarrow. The pièce de résistance? That would be the owner’s Triumph Bonneville motorcycle displayed in the salon.
Fjord 39 XP/XL
Germany’s Fjord Yachts, part of the Hanse Group, has a new 39-foot day boat that it’s unveiling at the Palm Beach show. The 39 XP and XL keep all the bold design cues of the bigger Fjord 41 XP and XL, like a big, open cockpit, walkaround center console, vertical bow, mile-high windshield and stretched hardtop. As for the differences between the XP and XL, it’s all about power. The XL comes with a choice of twin 320hp Volvo D4 diesels, or bigger 440 hp D6 versions, both with Volvo stern drives. Likely more appealing to U.S. buyers will be the XP powered by twin 400 hp Mercury Verado V10 outboards giving a 50-knot top speed. Pricing starts at around $500,000.
Turquoise ‘Talisman C’
Chandeliers don’t come more dramatic than this. Cascading down the central spiral staircase of the Turkish-built, 231-foot superyacht Talisman C , this jaw-dropping piece of art comprises an array of multi-colored glass balls threaded on stainless-steel rods and illuminated by hanging fiber-optic strands. It’s the creation of Prague-based Crystal Caviar and is one of a number of glass installations on this sleek, low-profile superyacht. Built in 2011 by the Proteksan Turquoise shipyard, Talisman C was designed inside and out by London-based studio H2 Yacht Design, with naval architecture by Italy’s Hydro Tec. With cabins for 12 guests, one of its highlights is a huge primary suite, which boasts more crystal chandeliers and a private library. Twin 2,447 hp Caterpillar diesels give a top speed of 18 knots and a transatlantic range of 7,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. It’s listed with Burgess for $59.9 million.
Sanlorenzo 44 ‘Kamakasa’
Delivered in 2020 and sold to a new buyer just last August, the 146-foot Sanlorenzo 44 Alloy Kamakasa will be for sale at PBIBS. The asking price, through the Italian Yacht Group, is $23.75 million. Lack of use might also be the issue here; the yacht’s twin 2,600 hp MTU V16 diesels have a mere 289 hours on the clock. Built in aluminum to a design by Rome-based Zuccon International Project, Kamakasa was the second hull in the Sanlorenzo 44 Alloy series. One of the top features is a primary suite that spans three levels and almost 1,600 square feet; it also comes with a private Jacuzzi, separate bathrooms, a walk-in closet, and a private study. The yacht’s lightweight construction and MTU power combine to deliver an impressive 20-knot top speed.
Bahama 41 GT2
As ultimate, reel-’em-in, fishing center consoles go, the Bahama 41 from West Palm Beach-based Bahama Boat Works is as hard-core as they come. But when owners kept asking for a little more comfort for the family, the builder responded. The result is the brand-new flagship 41 GT debuting at PBIBS. While the proven, wave-slicing hull stays the same, the cockpit layout is new. In place of the single bench seat, there are now three-across bucket seats with a second row behind. The wider console now has space for a pair of 22-inch Garmin screens, while the new extended hardtop features sun shades and even a rain shower. Outboard choices stay the same with either twin Mercury V12 600s, or four 400 hp Mercury V10s, good for a 65-knot-plus top speed. Pricing is from around $920,000.
Heesen ‘Book Ends’
Launched in 2022, this 164-foot Heesen is part of the Book Ends collection, owned by an American couple who have had more than 18 yachts with the same name. The exterior design of this Heesen was by Omega Architects, while Dutch studio Van Oossanen did the naval architecture. The yacht is part of Heesen’s fast cruising series, which is more efficient than other vessels its size, and can reach 23 knots at full speed with its MTU 16V 4000 M65L engines. The yacht is listed through Ocean Independence for 42 million Euro, or about $45.7 million.

Palm Beach International Boat Show returns to West Palm Beach waterfront
The Palm Beach International Boat Show returns this week with more nearly 1,000 vessels on display, including super yachts from around the world.
Tickets are on sale now for the show that runs March 21-24 along the West Palm Beach waterfront.
The show, which started in 1982, has grown to a major economic engine for the community, with last year's impact estimated at $1.05 billion statewide — nearly as much as the $1.3 billion Miami International Boat Show, said Alyssa Freeman, executive director of the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County, which owns the boat show.
More: Cool front for South Florida won't be its last even with the first day of spring here
"Palm Beach is really not that far behind Miami, and Miami is the biggest in the world," Freeman said. "That was really exciting."
This year's boat show features an expanded Super Yacht Show at Palm Harbor Marina, showcasing yachts that typically stretch longer than 80 feet and have a variety of luxurious amenities that include hot tubs, crew quarters, dance floors and sun decks.
"We have more super yachts there than we ever have before, and they're even bigger," Freeman said, noting that at 236 feet, the vessel Casino Royale takes the title of largest yacht at this year's show. The title of "most expensive yacht" goes to Come Together, a 196-foot vessel priced at $59.95 million.
"Everybody, when they think about super yachts, they think about Monaco and Miami, but Palm Beach is a real player in these boat shows and the yachting world," Freeman said.
Exhibitors continue to be drawn to the Palm Beach International Boat Show by the opportunity for high sales year after year when compared with other South Florida boat shows, she said.
"I've heard from several of them, this is their favorite show to attend," Freeman said, "And that's why, because their sales are higher at Palm Beach."
The show continues to make headway in improving its sustainability efforts, she said. After reducing single-use plastics, a major change this year is the addition of water bottle refilling stations throughout the show, Freeman said.
"I think that's exciting because everybody's talking about sustainability and how we can be more sustainable," she said. "Every year, we take little steps to be more sustainable."
Freeman said she is excited for this year's AquaZone presented by Nautical Ventures. The attraction showcases some of the "yacht toys" that are new or popular on the market.
"It's so cool, because there are people actually in the water demoing yacht toys, and it's usually the latest and greatest," she said. "There's always something new every year that we've never seen before."
The Palm Beach International Boat Show also features a range of seminars, demonstrations and discussions throughout the weekend, including mental health in yachting, tips to boat to the Bahamas, safe boating to protect sea turtles and how to address active threats and piracy.
Freeman, who has children, said she loves the Kids Fishing Clinics scheduled for noon and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with captain Don Dingman.
"Captain Don has been doing this for years, and he does a fantastic job," Freeman said. "The kids actually get to go home with a free rod and reel once the clinic is over."
The association produces the Palm Beach International Boat Show with Informa Markets' U.S. Boat Shows division.
"As we gear up for the 2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show, we are excited for our return to Downtown West Palm Beach to celebrate the rich history of this esteemed event," Andrew Doole, president of U.S. Boat Shows at Informa Markets, said in a news release. "Each year, we’re grateful for the warm welcome and support from the community, which truly makes this event a highlight on the calendar for both residents and visitors alike."
Informa also produces the Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary art show happening March 21-24, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. A Windward VIP ticket to the boat show includes admission to the art show as well.
In addition to serving as a cornerstone festival of spring in West Palm Beach, the boat show launched the Palm Beach International Boat Show Gives Back program to provide hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions to local nonprofits, Freeman said.
The grant program had a soft launch last year and formalized the boat show's four-decade practice of giving back to the community, Freeman said.
"We're really excited about it," said Freeman, who added that the boat show team is working with the Community Foundation to manage the grant program, which they hope to grow. "That's something that's a super high priority for us."
Money raised through a portion of the boat show's ticket sales, optional add-ons and some related activities goes toward the fund.
The boat show in February announced that the first round of grants totaling $500,000 would go to 25 nonprofits that have marine-related programs or projects, including Florida Fishing Academy, Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Florida Atlantic University, Inlet Grove High School, Palm Beach State College, Sea Turtle Adventures and Friends of Manatee Lagoon.
"We're hoping one day we'll be able to say that it's a million dollars," she said. "So fingers crossed. It relies on the success of the boat show and the support of the community. With that, we will continue to grow."
