Riva 130’ Bellissima: Bold & Beautiful
- November 16, 2023
Riva’s Flybridge range has soared to new heights with the 130’ Bellissima, an elegant 40m, 300GT tri-deck that offers expansive rosewood interiors but is just as notable for its appealing array of outdoor social areas. Words: Olivia Michel; Photos: Ferretti Group
The 130’ Bellissima was designed by Officina Italian Design
Riva’s 130’ Bellissima is best described as a modern superyacht with a classic soul. When hull one launched from the Ferretti Group’s La Spezia shipyard last year, the 40m superyacht became the new flagship of the Italian builder’s Flybridge series, which also includes the 82’ Diva, 90’ Argo, 102’ Corsaro Super and 110’ Dolcevita.
A star at the last two editions of the Monaco Yacht Show, Bellissima is Riva’s first planing Flybridge model to feature a tri-deck design, with Ferretti Group working closely with Officina Italiana Design – which has designed for Riva for almost three decades – to keep the model’s interior volume below 300GT.
The 130’ Bellissima is the largest model built at Riva’s La Spezia shipyard
The closest word the designers and shipyard found to fully define the newest Riva was ultimately bellissima , Italian for ‘very beautiful’. Alberto Galassi, Ferretti Group’s CEO, uses romantic language to talk about the boatbuilder’s new pride and joy. “When you see this yacht cruising on the water, everything stops. It’s an aesthetic experience that words can’t describe,” he philosophises.
When Yacht Style stepped aboard, the 130’ Bellissima was docked in Port Hercules next to the 110’ Dolcevita, formerly the largest yacht in the Flybridge series. The side-by-side comparison accentuated the uniqueness of the 300GT Bellissima, which is 6m longer than the 219GT Dolcevita and has an extra deck.
The optional jacuzzi offers a secluded area to relax
Sergio Beretta, co-founder and CEO of Officina Italiana Design, said: “In practice, Bellissima is like an older sister to Dolcevita, but with a style all of her own that makes her different from any other big yacht of the Riva family.”
Mauro Micheli, co-founder and Chief Designer of the studio, has used the epithets of “sporty”, “sleek” and “slender” to describe the overall look of the yacht’s profile. The exterior is contemporary, fashioned from a symphony of glass, steel and carbon-fibre, and featuring a counter-curvature windshield that sets her silhouette apart from the rest of the fleet.
Bird’s eye view of the aft end of the sun, upper, main and lower decks
Micheli has penned every Riva launched since 1994 and a hint of this long-standing collaboration is seen in the two simple lines running along the Bellissima profile. Micheli notes that this is a classic feature seen on all Riva models and “very much reflects Officina Italiana Design’s clean, rigorous styling philosophy”.
By combining the sloping windshield with vast glazed surfaces and a severely raked bow, the boat has an almost arrowhead-shaped outline. The design is not only eye-catching but enhances aerodynamics, allowing a top speed of 22.5 knots with twin 2,638mhp MTU engines, as well as a range of 360nm at 20 knots or 1,000nm at 11 knots.
Aft view of the stunning sun deck
A 20sqm garage – with room for a tender, jet-ski and Seabobs – is located on the port side of the vessel to make way for a new open-air beach club at the stern. Lower and closer to the water than on any previous Riva superyacht, the beach club includes a swim platform and room for an alfresco lounge to dry off after a dip in the sea.
An outdoor jacuzzi, meanwhile, is located at the bow of the upper deck to fully optimise onboard space and enhance privacy for guests enjoying a soak in the sun.

UP AND DOWN
Inside the Bellissima, however, is where the historic Riva heritage is most clearly realised in direct contrast with the futuristic exterior.
Glossy rosewood has been used throughout the interiors – even in the galley – to complete the classic style for which Riva has become known. Yet the darker, more masculine shades of the panelling and leather chosen to adorn her stop Bellissima from looking “old fashioned” and bring her up-to-date and in line with interior trends.
Aft view of the main-deck saloon, which includes a formal dining area forward
The main deck starts aft with a generous cockpit that leads into a saloon with symmetrical L-shaped sofas on both sides and a forward dining area. Indoor spaces are generous, with ceilings as high as 2.05m, but Officina Italiana Design has combined Bellissima’s old-school rosewood finish with glass and mirror elements to make the interiors feel even more open and roomy.
The starboard hallway leads to the lower-deck staircase and day head, then onto the full-beam master suite, which benefits from the widebody design on the forward portion of the main deck. The owner’s area starts with an office that leads into the bedroom, which has a walk-in wardrobe aft on the port side, while forward are separate his-and-hers bathrooms either side of a central shower.
Starboard view of the master suite, with the bed arranged facing aft
The lower deck includes four 15sqm VIP en-suite cabins, two forward of the hallway and two aft, all with inward-facing beds and all accessed by a stunning staircase. Micheli notes that the “beautiful effect” of the staircase is meant to attract attention, “ennobling its function as a link between the decks” and reflecting the “maniacal attention to any detail” typical of Riva projects.
The upper deck has a skylounge with facing L-shaped sofas, although the area can be used or converted into a cinema, workout space or even a study. The room leads aft to a huge, covered deck that offers alfresco dining, while the uncovered end can be dressed with sun loungers or other loose furniture.
Forward view of the upper-deck skylounge or saloon
Forward on the upper deck is the bow lounge, which has two symmetrical L-shaped sofas facing a large quadruple sun pad, while forward is the jacuzzi. As it that wasn’t enough, the stunning sky deck has an open aft end suitable for sun beds, while the covered area can fit four sides of sofas and chairs for a gorgeous, protected hangout with stunning views.
RIVA STYLE LIVES ON
Even with 10 guests and seven crew on board, the design choices that created the Bellissima have ensured that this 40m superyacht will never feel crowded. This is in part due to the intelligent layout of the vessel and in part to the flexibility of spaces.
Stairs from the main deck to the lower-deck guest cabins
And ultimately, the Gemini nature of a modern profile paired with Riva’s trademark traditional wood features gives owners a sense of owning two types of yacht in one. As Beretta explains: “Bellissima has sporty lines but at the same time is elegant, perfect for any market including Asia. This is the result of the perfect balance we always strive for.”
At least five units of the Bellissima had been sold within a year of the model’s world premiere. “So far, the boat is particularly popular in the North American market, while in Asia we have several open negotiations,” Galassi notes. “The expected waiting time is about two years, which is due to the great sales success of this model.”
The elegant helm station
With many shipyards still struggling to offer new build slots, this is still a decent turnaround time for new owners keen to hit the water in grand style.
Beretta does note, however, that delivery time is dependent on the level of personalisation owners may want to implement. Having the option to infuse customisations into a serial model is key to ensuring the Bellissima is not just a luxury asset but also an expression of an owner’s personality.
“If owners choose a Riva, they don’t only select a boat,” he says. “They select a particular lifestyle, for true connoisseurs.”

Race: Inside Riva’s First 50 Metre Superyacht
When the Riva 50 Metri made her public debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2019, the name emblazoned on her transom – Race – gave a hint as to who her owner was. And in case there was any doubt, the treasure trove of Ferrari memorabilia on board and a very unusual automotive-inspired bridge made it crystal clear.
At 49.9 metres, Race is the largest-ever Riva yacht, proudly previewed in June 2019 at Venice’s Arsenal, during an exclusive client event. She’s also the first to emerge from the Riva Superyachts Division, which was established in 2014 at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, where its CRN, Custom Line and Pershing superyachts are built. The name Riva most vividly evokes the sexy runabouts that made the brand famous in the 1960s and 70s. But Carlo Riva always envisioned a place for larger Riva boats, as seen in his collaboration with De Vries (Feadship) and later CRN on the 24-metre Riva Caravelle series, and his personal yacht, 30.5-metre Vespucci , which was delivered in 1978 and relaunched in 2018 after a thorough refit.
Two exterior styles, each drawing inspiration from classic Rivas, are offered on the same technical platforms in the Riva Superyachts series, in 50-, 60-, 70- and 95-metre sizes. This first design is inspired by the 1964 Riva Caravelle series. The second option is sportier, with rounded lines and a more aggressive profile, taken from the Riva coupé yachts and seen on the current Riva 76 Perseo and 88 Domino Super.
The Riva 50 Metri’s exterior and interior were created by Officina Italiana Design in concert with Riva’s in-house team. “Race takes inspiration from the Caravelle, which was a true masterpiece conceived by Carlo Riva,” says Sergio Beretta, CEO of Officina Italiana Design, which he founded with chief designer Mauro Micheli. “The challenge was to innovate without forgetting the DNA of the Riva brand.”
In essence, Race is a highly modernised take on the classic Caravelle. Both yachts feature parallelogram windows, as well as forward-sloping lines that give the impression of movement. During the Monaco show, Race had an enviable position at the very end of Jetée Lucciana, so you could admire her silver hull and clean and simple lines. “ Race has a great personality,” says Micheli. “She has three straight lines that define each level. The design is clean, and we stayed away from overworked, elaborate or redundant lines and shapes, both in the exterior and the interior.”
This veneer is found on all exterior panels, ceilings and the built-in exterior furniture. “By decreasing the weight, you have much better results in terms of fuel consumption,” says de Vivo. “At 14 knots, Race burns 300 litres per hour with the engines and generators on. It’s a very good result for us.” Powered by twin 1,360hp MTU 8V 4000 M63 diesel engines, this full-displacement yacht in aluminium alloy reaches a top speed of 15 knots and has a cruising range of 3,500 nautical miles at 11 knots.
It was also vital that the first Riva 50 have the essence of an iconic Riva. This translated to an obsession with the material selection and a bevy of little details – even the stainless-steel drains on the deck are emblazoned with the Riva logo written in miniature. Custom doorknobs, similar to those seen on the Riva Dolcevita, were moulded to fit the owner’s hand perfectly.
One of the first things that de Vivo points out is the use of lightweight materials derived from the aviation industry: a sandwiched panel made of fibreglass and Nomex – the latter is also used in Formula One cars. A veneer goes over the top to give the look of wood, but it’s much lighter.
The interior of Race is modern, masculine and distinctively Riva. There isn’t a dizzying array of materials; instead the design team concentrated on a uniform colour palette of grey and white, accentuated by mahogany, stainless steel, white statuario marble with grey veining and an abundance of glass, like the glass-framed main stairwell. Narrow strips of mahogany on the ceilings in the saloons and cabins add dimension and hide the air-conditioning output, as the air filters out between the wooden slats. These slats are carried throughout the boat, from the main saloon to the hallways and the guest cabins.
A seven-metre tender is held below in the garage, which has a shell door for launching. When it is launched, the space is transformed into a beach club with loose furnishings. There is enough space for the area to be used as a gym even when under way with the tender inside.
The second Riva 50 Metri is currently in build at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, with delivery slated for early 2021, before the summer season. According to Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi, seeing the Riva Superyachts Division come to life was a dream of Carlo Riva.

First look inside the Riva 82 Diva
Italian shipyard Riva , a brand of Ferretti Group, has offered a first look inside its brand new 82 Diva model. The 25.3-metre flybridge yacht debuted at the Ferretti Group Private Preview event earlier in September, before going on to make its international appearance at the Cannes Yachting Festival.
According to Riva, the flybridge model aims to "open a new chapter" for the Sarnico-based builder and offers a "revolutionary approach to the use of space" by maximising outdoor areas and ensuring indoor spaces are thoughtfully designed according to their function.
The first unit in the series was launched in La Spezia in July. Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, founders of Officina Italiana Design, are the designers behind the yacht's interior and exterior, working in collaboration with the Strategic Product Committee led by Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department.
The yacht features a number of design evolutions, including the use of high gunwales with painted composite segments instead of traditional steel handrails.
The design team has given the yacht a flybridge with around 40 square metres of useable space, making it one of the largest flybridges in this category, according to Riva. The flybridge has well-defined living areas, including a lounge with a dinette and bar in the centre, protected by a carbon fibre hard top with glass panels, plus a sunbathing area forward and another lounge area aft.
Elsewhere, the beach club features a Riva first in the use of fold-down bulwarks which expand the yacht's six-metre beam by an additional three metres. A sunpad stretching over 2.5 metres adds to the set-up, and below the sunpad, there is storage for a jet tender of almost four metres in length.
On the main deck, the 82 Diva features a 35-square-metre cockpit with sofas looking out to sea. Stepping into the interior, the main saloon has a split-level configuration that connects the lounge area with the dining area, without dividing them entirely. There is L-shaped sofa seating aft, arranged asymmetrically facing a fold-down TV screen, and a dining table for eight on the upper portion of the deck.
The principal helm station is directly forward, with an adjustable pilot chair and good visibility afforded through a panoramic windshield. The design team has cleverly integrated a small galley facility into the port side of the helm, improving functionality on the main deck and ensuring uninterrupted service between the dining area and galley.
Four cabins can be found on the lower deck, all of them en suite. There are two further cabins for crew located amidships and accessed via a dedicated walkway on the side of the superstructure.
The interior styling in the guest accommodation continues throughout the yacht, making full use of large windows and rich materials including Italian walnut, ebony leather and grey soft furnishings.
The 82 Diva can be fitted with a pair of MAN V12 1800 engines for a top speed of 29 knots and a cruising speed of 26 or two MAN V12 1900 engines that propel the yacht to top speeds of 31 knots and a cruising speed of 27 knots.
The Riva 82 Diva is the smallest of the Riva tri-deck flybridge ranges, which includes the Riva 90 Argo , Riva 102 Corsaro Super , Riva 110 Dolcevita and Riva 130 Bellissima .

THE LATEST TRENDS IN MODERN HOUSE DESIGN AND DECORATING
- Modern Interiors
Best Modern Yacht Interior Designs
Yacht interior designs aren’t featured on sources that aren’t dedicated to yachts very often. And that’s a shame, really. One look at these amazing designs will make you want to renovate your home. While the yacht exterior design is something for boat enthusiasts to discern, interior aficionados will definitely swoon over these wood-clad living rooms, industrial chic kitchens, and hotel-like bedrooms.
Best Yacht Interior Designs
Yachts may differ in size but their interiors are as luxurious as they get. Crystal chandeliers, ultra chic furnishings, and lacquered wood will make any boat look and feel lavish. Just like most resplendent residences these yacht interior designs boast marble bathrooms and sprawling dining rooms, tiered ceilings and hardwood floors along with amenities of boutique hotels.
Superyacht Logica 147
Superyacht Logica 147 is a stylish black and white boat designed by Brenta Yacht Design . Its interior, however, is a whole other world telling a story of luxury living with sprawling dining areas, outdoor decks, and light-filled bedrooms.
Decorated by Martin Kemp Design the luxurious yacht has a neutral color scheme, sophisticated furnishings, and statement lighting fixtures in the dining area that create an overpowering luxurious feel in the entire room.
Compagnie Du Ponant
Jean Philippe Nuel has made Compagnie Du Ponant yacht into an epitome of elegance. An ultra light color scheme is accented with aqua blue accents and creative nautical details. Sophisticated smart furnishings further promote the elegant aesthetic that masterfully mixes luxury and minimalist design solutions.
From the first or even second look Compagnie Du Ponant doesn’t seem like a yacht but rather appears as a very expensive boutique hotel or apartment.
CRN 43 MY Lady Trudy
CRN 43 M/Y Lady Trudy is a gorgeous mix of traditional and modern styles. Its white interiors are finished and accented with dark wooden floors and furnishings. White cabinetry allows to visually enhance the space in rooms like the main seating room and kitchen.
It’s the latter that brings a bit of industrial aesthetic with its modern stoves, though. A farmhouse sink makes for a very rustic accent that helps to amplify the contrast between the old and new.
CRN 130 M/Y Darlings Danama
CRN is known for its gorgeous mega and superyachts. Darlings Danama presents a mix of modern and high-tech design, but more in aesthetic than functionality, though. Its minimalist furnishings show interesting curvilinear shapes and ambient lighting accents certain lines reflecting in a glossy ceiling.
Designed in a light color scheme the interiors that feature rare darker accents look light and bright even with the window curtains closed.
CRN 125 M/Y J’Ade
Another yacht in the CRN ‘s fleet is a 125 M/Y J’Ade that has an incredibly luxurious interior design. Besides the lavish living areas and sophisticated bedrooms, though, there is a green mosaic tiled sauna outfitted with fiber optic lighting bringing a different feel than the rest of the interiors.
A stainless steel chef’s kitchen is another amenity that looks different to the wood-clad hallways, captain’s deck, and even an exercise room.
Far Away Canados 36
Francesco Paszkowski Design ‘s award-winning Far Away Canados yacht interior is full of sophisticated elegance. Glossy rounded surfaces give it an ultra modern look while the neutral color scheme and sophisticated furnishings make for a fresh bright look.
Built-in lighting that has not only a functional purpose but also adds a color accent to the decor prevails over lighting fixtures. And while it’s a very boutique style interior there are plenty of practical design solutions in all of its rooms.
Galactica Super Nova Yacht
Conceived by a Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts Galactica Super Nova Yacht is a design that represents luxury in every inch. Wherever you look there are different wooden accents, layers of walls and ceilings, and lots of inbuilt lights.
The neutral color scheme is accented with statement pieces like a sculptured wall partition and a small-scale ship model used as a display object echoed in a painting decorating the dining area.
Suerte Tankoa Yachts 69
With retro futurism being largely out favor it was surprising to see Suerte Tankoa Yachts 69 interior by Francesco Paszkowski Design . Looking quite retro with its wooden paneling and grey black details this bedroom works in so many ways.
In other rooms of the yacht the retro-futuristic aesthetic persists coupled with modern luxury design solutions and materials.
Sunseeker’s Flagship 155 Yacht
Unveiled at the 2014 London International Boat Show Sunseeker’s Flagship 155 yacht features an interior design that would easily fit into a boutique hotel. The concept is focused on a classic combination of dark wooden accents and a neutral color scheme.
Luxurious materials and an ultra sleek design, though, take it from traditional to ultra modern. Built-in lighting, modern furniture and lots of glass and other reflective surfaces make the interior look very glamorous.
Twizzle S/Y by Todhunter Earle Interiors
Twizzle S/Y , a concept designed by Todhunter Earle Interiors, features a kitchen that could rival that of a land residence. Shiny countertops and state-of-the-art technology coupled together make for an inviting cooking area albeit a bit tight in space.
The kitchen might not be the most important part of a luxury yacht but if love of cooking or long sailing trips aren’t good reasons for a clever yacht kitchen design then we don’t know what is.
Twizzly M/Y by Todhunter Earle Interiors
Todhunter Earle Interiors’s Twizzle M/Y is another example of an elegant yacht interior design. Bearing a hint of mid-century modern style the yacht looks like a boutique hotel with a formal dining area and luxe bathroom design.
Using artworks and live flowers the designers give the yacht a lively feel. And mixing minimalist and statement pieces they keep it inviting but luxurious.
Cantiere Delle Marche Darwin 107
Cantiere Delle Marche Darwin 107 called Storm may be a luxurious boat but on the inside there is a toned down inviting interior design. Finished with wood and neutral grey carpets the yacht makes a perfect family retreat.
Boasting a few outdoor seating areas Storm is a great example of traditional decor complemented with designing accents and prints to make it less boring.
Abeking & Rasmussen Yacht Romea
With an interior fit for a luxurious 5-star hotel Abeking Rasmussen Yacht Romea is a 81-meter boat that also attracts attention in the sea. Terence Disdale ensured the insides matched the status of the luxurious vessel creating the interior design that deserves its own magazine spread.
Designed in a neutral color scheme it has modeled ceilings, built-in lighting, and even columns that give the interiors a more dramatic feel. The yacht’s spacious bedroom with a soft platform bed has an interesting textured ceiling design that diffuses the built-in lights into a gentle glowing halo.
Baraka Turquoise Yacht
Many yacht interior designs feature neutral color schemes that call for bright accents. Incongruous with the name Baraka Turquoise this yacht by Francesco Paszkowski Design features violet throw pillows in the bedroom and red accents in the living area that jazz up the neutral decor.
Besides the throw pillows the yacht has a bright artwork in the hallway that ties the color scheme all together with its white, black, red, and violet colors.
Khalilah First All-Carbon 49 Superyacht
Khalilah is a world’s first superyacht made entirely out of a carbon composite. The golden boat may look like a sports car of yachts from the outside but on the inside you’ll find it is designed with a surprising boho chic aesthetic and a hint of retro.
White walls and tiered ceiling have a warm contrast in hardwood flooring and mostly white furnishings are accented with bright throw pillows and hot pink curtains. And in the middle of it all is a metallic octopus-shaped chandelier.
CRN 55m Atlante Luxury Yacht
It’s hard to stay away from CRN yachts for long. They are luxurious from inside out. 55m M/Y Atlante luxury yacht is the proof that yacht facilities such as bathrooms can be as glamorous (if not more) as the rest of the interior.
Dressed in black and white veiny marble the wood-clad ceiling bath has a metal-framed glass shower stall and an amazing built-in sink. Atlante definitely has one of the most luxurious yacht interior designs out there.
CRN 129 M/Y Chopi Chopi
CRN ‘s Chopi Chopi is a another amazing yacht. It’s not only impressive from the outside but has incredible interiors. Decked out in wood the spacious seating areas are furnished with soft couches and plush carpets.
Indoor/outdoor rooms include a dining area and a home office. Yes, a home office. On a yacht. Why not? Many of these are as good for the living as they are for writing emails and answering phone calls.
Palmer Johnson’s Dragon Yacht Interior Design
Palmer Johnson’s Dragon yacht has one of the best yacht interior designs by Nuvolari-Lenard . Taking cues from the boat’s name the designer cleverly organized space into divided zones and used dark wooden accents to accentuate the reds in the color scheme.
Using ceiling details and wall paneling the designer plays with red, white, and black creating layers and layers of color.
Sinnex Yachts My Nirvana
Among the most mind-boggling yacht interior designs is My Nirvana by Sinnex Yachts that is a real treat when it comes to luxury. Just its spacious formal dining room could compete with a half of one of these yachts. The backlit columns with realistic-looking patterns and amazing printed floors set a green color scheme balanced with black and white walls and ceiling.
Among other amazing features there is a cinema and an atrium that turn this boat into an ultimate sailing resort.
MYSORAH by Patrick Knowles Design
When it comes to traditional boat interiors Patrick Knowles Design might be the designer for it. MYSORAH is how we imagine traditional luxury yacht interior designs. There are neutral colors enhanced with light and dark wood. Blue accents that remind of the interior’s nautical origins.
Classy, reserved, and sophisticated this boat manages to look interesting and eye catchy even with all the conservative design solutions in place.
ISA63M by Patrick Knowles Design
Now Knowles’s ISA 63 yacht design is something different. There are incredible prints, colorful accents, and whimsical furniture pieces decorating the white and light wood interior.
Numerous details constantly attract the eye and make for an incredible general look that manages to stay functional and at times even traditional.
Riva 88 Florida Yacht
Riva 88 Florida by Officina Italiana Design may look modest in comparison to many of these other yacht interior designs but its stylish design is as clear as its lines. Dressed in wood and featuring lots of built-in lighting the yacht is filled with nautical blue accents that still don’t take it into the territory of traditional design.
Thanks to numerous sleek metallic accents the interiors look somehow smart and modern. In the bedroom the lack of space is leveled with a big mirror and a reflective ceiling.
Solandge Superyacht
If you are truly into luxury a $1 million/week Solandge Superyacht is a way to go. 93 meter (280 ft) boat is designed with such extravagant luxury it’s ridiculous. And it’s probably the most expensive one of all charters. Aside from the marble-topped nightstands there is a swimming pool, a formal dining room, a gym, and a sauna.
Furnished with the most luxurious materials the boat is definitely made for exuberant millionaire vacations and parties with a bar, a hot tub deck, and all the water activities.
Yacht interior designs can surely be unique. Some of these yacht interior designs would look right at home with the modern mansions or luxury penthouses. But it’s not enough to just have a yacht today. Its interiors must have personality and character apart from style and luxury.
