Great stay and perfectly positioned”

We had a long weekend in Picton and stayed at Picton Yacht Club for two nights in Ocean View Rooms. The rooms were clean, spacious and modern with a view over the harbour so scored really highly. The corridors etc were a bit tired but the hotel is mid renovation I believe and even then it wasn't bad, just looked old - but fine. After all, you spend time in the room not the corridor! The staff were great, really friendly and welcoming. Didn't try the pool which is small and not heated (but again I believe plans are afoot to upgrade the pool at some point). Would definitely revisit.

thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the mercure picton. good standard of accommodation with good facilities, as per most mercure hotels. we enjoyed a room with a balcony and view of the harbour area, definitely worth the few dollars extra here. just a few minutes to walk to shops and a good variety of eating places, as well as the wharf and companies for bookings for sightseeing of the marlborough sound, as well as museums, galleries, playground and park. not far from the railway station as well as the islander and bluebridge ferry company wharves, which transport people, cars, vans, buses and trucks from the south island to the north island and return. the hotel is also located close to a number of enjoyable and interesting local walks along the harbour, a few kilometres to a yatch harbour, or further along to an interesting moari heritage site. we also enjoyed a walk to the top of the lookout and gained a marvellous view of picton and down through the sound. another great lookout can be reached by car, just a few kilometres out of picton. such an interesting and friendly place, we will definitely be back again. the staff at the hotel made us feel very welcome all the time.
