The first thing you’ll notice about trideck motor yacht WILDCAT is her abundance of outdoor living areas. On the main deck is a large table, lined with sofas on one side and additional chairs on the other, and sheltered by the upper deck above. Below is a spacious swimming platform providing easy access to the sea as well as water toys. Positive Customer Review: "One of the most memorable parts for me was the launch. I went with my wife, and Benetti had a Roman Catholic priest bless the yacht. It was very beautiful with all the Italian music and then the British national anthem, and it was all very unexpected. I thought I was just going to be putting the boat in the water, but in fact it turned into a very emotional day!" - Owner of a Benetti called motor yacht 11:11

Elevating Sailing: The Extraordinary Wildcat Yacht!

wildcat yacht

Having purchased the incomplete hull of the 42 E-volution GTS, a 42-meter sailing yacht from Perini Navi (second unit of the E-volution series) represents a challenging feature for TY since this vessel is built to deliver great sailing performance while maintaining a high level of stability and comfort at the same time, with a 2.204 sqm sail area.

Key features include an aluminum hull, a lifting keel, and an exterior design characterized by dynamic and clean lines and featuring a superstructure, deckhouse, and other fit-out items made from carbon fiber. Together with the Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design firm, already involved in naval architecture since the beginning of the project, and in collaboration with Southern Spars New Zealand, we made some changes to the sailing system to prioritize its ease of use.

The vessel is sloop-rigged with a Panamax carbon mast (62.5 m) and a carbon boom with an in-boom furling system for the main sail. The carbon mast is equipped with carbon standing rigging. The sails are handled by systems based on PLC technology. Sheets and halyards are controlled by three Harken custom captive reel winches and three Bamar furlers. The vessel's interior design is characterized by a contemporary styling, created by GCA Architects of Barcelona. The vessel accommodates a total of eight guests in four staterooms with en-suite bathroom: a full-beam owner’s suite, one VIP cabin, two twin cabins. The crew quarters accommodate seven staff in four cabins. Guest interior common areas include a main deck salon with two sofas and 360-degree surround views thanks to the ample windows and skylights installed on its superstructure. Furthermore, a tv room is located on the lower deck.

Exterior areas provide plenty of places for guests to relax. The exterior aft cockpit is characterized by a symmetrical layout with two inward-facing C-shaped sofas. Through a set of steps behind the cockpit we have access to the sunbed area. The transom door to the stern folds down to become a swim platform, and two stairways lead down to the sofa-sunbed beside the water.

Furthermore, a retractable dining table is located in the forward area, just in front of the mast. The vessel also features a tender garage with a hydraulic side shell door and tender crane (5.5m/18ft tender), a hydraulic side boarding ladder, and an aft gangway.

Propulsion System

wildcat yacht

WIDERCAT 92 incorporates Wider’s serial hybrid system which, on a smaller scale and just as efficiently, builds on the shipyard’s extensive technical know-how in the Superyacht division. Only Permanent Magnet technology electric motors are connected to the propellers, each providing 583kW maximum power, while energy is produced by two 390kW variable speed generators each one with twin FPT combustion engines. Energy is stored in 30 LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry batteries managed by a state-of-the-art Battery Management System that constantly monitors operating parameters. The entire propulsion system ensures a cruising speed of 12 knots, reaching 15 knots thanks to the Electric Boost. In saving cruising mode, the speed is 8 knots with a range of over 1600 nautical miles. And at 6-knot speed, it can reach up to 2,400 nautical miles thanks to the Wider Serial Hybrid System. The catamaran also includes ZEM – Zero Emission Mode. Here, Wider technology lets you travel about 27 nautical miles at 6 knots in complete silence or provides 12-hour autonomy on battery power alone, without charge, when sitting at anchor. During bright, sunlit days, the 170 m2 of solar panels installed on WIDERCAT 92 will deliver energy self-sufficiency at anchor. That’s because any unused energy is stored in the batteries and used during the night. + ZEM – Zero emission mode available + State-of-the-art Battery Management System + Low noise and vibrations + Best power/consuption rate + 170 sqm of solar panels

Cabins and living areas

The standard below deck layout provides two ultra-generous VIP cabins that uniquely offer two platforms opening directly onto the beach club. In addition, there is an en-suite double Guest cabin. The lower deck also provides a generous and usable crew area at the bow. Naturally, the shipyard gives owners the option of a 4-cabin layout lower-deck. The main deck covers an area of more than 100 m2 and nearly half of it is the master stateroom alone, with a breadth comparable to a wide body. Large windows, full contact with the sea, versatility and privacy are just a few of the main features. The aft main deck offers a stunning 360-degree view thanks to the uninterrupted windows and flush doors surrounding the guests. The upper deck includes another forward cockpit that the owner is free to customize by incorporating a dinette/lounge and a Jacuzzi. The helm is also housed in the upper deck and, unlike other boats of equal length and category.

Wildcat 40 Windfarm

The Wildcat 40 Wind Farm version is an adaptation based on our proven and respected Wildcat 40 Cameraman hull.

The bow of the vessel is modified dispensing with the cosmetically pleasing  'pickle fork' bow for a more practical square bow. This allows for the incorporation of the essential bow boarding area with an especially strengthened and fendered bow. The overall design is for a 10-12 passenger crew transfer design, featuring an island wheelhouse allowing crew to walk safely around the vessel and up to the bow behind secure bulkheads. An alternative configuration features a fixed main cabin with a removable aft passenger seating module. This allows the vessel to configured for a multitude of roles from Cargo carrying to passenger transfer. The aft passenger module can be quickly removed with a mobile crane and taken into storage on a flat bed trailer.

On the standard fixed  cabin version the vessel has a large, clear aft deck area for carrying light cargo, which can be loaded via a 2 ton HIAB crane. The vessel can be fitted with water jets for speeds of 30kts+ or conventional stern gear for a 25kts operational speed.

STANDARD FIXED CABIN VERSION

Design features:

The benefits of the catamaran hull form are:

Transverse static stability, less rolling and motion

Directional stability in following sea conditions

Lower vertical accelerations smother motion in choppy head seas

Lower power requirements

Greater economical operational range

Cabin space

Head sea abilities

Due to the slender nature of the hulls, in choppy conditions vertical accelerations are much reduced in comparison with mono hulls giving a gentle ride and motion. However  previously the biggest disadvantage of the older type of catamaran hull which featured very fine sections fwd with little reserve buoyancy, giving a very smooth ride in short sea states but suffering badly in ocean swell conditions due to slamming on the bridge deck. This shortcoming has been solved with much fuller fwd sections and much greater buoyancy, giving the hull the necessary lift to prevent slamming on the bridge deck, allowing higher speeds to be maintained into larger ocean swells.

Performance

Due to the low resistance of the slender catamaran hulls, performance is excellent, especially at moderate speeds up to 20kts. Typically, horse power requirements are lower than in a similar sized mono hull. Furthermore the flat running angles of the catamaran hulls, with no hump to overcome means that there is a wide range of economical speeds, incurring no penalty in fuel consumption at transition speeds often dictated by weather conditions.

Probably the greatest benefit of the catamaran hull form over the monohull is its transverse static and dynamic stability. With GM figures typically 3-4 times greater than a similar sized mono hull the operational envelope in rough weather is extended. The Catamaran is able to provide a much more stable work platform at rest than a monohull with greatly reduced rolling and motion. In extreme conditions they are often the safest due to their great transverse stability.

wildcat yacht

The main accommodation on the Wildcat 40 is fully customizable, typically on a hydrographic vessel it will incorporate a central helm position with alongside seating for the hydrographical equipment operator / navigator and provides panoramic vision all round with all the electronic navigation and hydrographic displays situated in a large console. A work bench is fitted to the port side of the cabin stretching its full length, all the computers for the hydrograpic equipment are stored in a vertical rack / cabinet fitted at the aft of the cabin. To port is a large dinette seating area with a table between. In the st/bd hull is a large heads compartment which is fully lined in white Formica fitted with an electric toilet and sink. In the port hull f/wd is a full galley with 240v hob, sink, fridge and storage lockers. Onboard electrical power is from a 10kw 240v generator supplying multiple sockets throughout the vessel. Other equipment can include a 1500W electric capstan, Electric 95kgf bow thruster, Electro hydraulic 013T HIAB crane, Dive platform, security alarm system and a full compliment of  navigation equipment. The vessel can also fitted with a 24,000btu air conditioning unit with high level outlets in the cabin roof for efficient cooling, The Wildcat is very quiet, only 70db being recorded in the cabin at 15kts, reducing to just 65db at 7kts survey speeds.

Engineering

Safehaven's depth of engineering expertise is demonstrated by our Multi Beam deployment system

The advantage of a catamaran when designing a deployment system for the expensive multi beam sonar head is that by deploying the sonar head through a moon pool in the catamarans bridge deck, a high degree of protection is provided by the twin hulls. The system is designed to lower the sonar head mounted on a 4m aerofoil design support to just below the vessels keel, operation is through a 2m stroke stainless steel cylinder with electro hydraulic operation mounted  on the back of the wheelhouse on the aft deck, which lowers the head through a hatch integrated into the bridge deck forming a ‘moon pool’ the sonar head then extends down to below the keel line whereby sonar data can be collected at low speeds. For fast transit speeds the sonar head is raised and the moon pool hatch closed, whereby the vessel can again operate at high speed with the sonar head safely protected.

The sonar will be mounted as close to the centre of gravity as possible. Ducting will be provided for the cable to the survey position. The diameter of this cable will depend on the chosen system, and an allowance will be made for this in the design. The sonar will therefore be mounted solidly to the hull. This will allow a minimum amount of flex between the systems employed on the vessel, to ensure the accuracy of the measured depth

It is anticipated that the multibeam system to be fitted to the vessel will be either a Kongsberg 3002 or a Reson 8125, The system will be chosen for the engineering capabilities.

Design:  Wildcat 35

Total Berths: 6 Engine(s): 2 x 21hp Yanmar 3YM20

Electronics include: VHF radio, compass, chart plotter, echo sounder, log, 2 panels with Victron MPPT 100 / 50 SmartSolar charge controller solar panels, and more.

This Wildcat 35 appears to be in wonderful condition and is for sale in South Africa. The Wildcat design has given the interior of the vessel significantly more volume than most catamarans in this class. In part this is due to the very "full" hull design and a significant beam of over 7m! This particular vessel is a galley down version which allows for a roomy saloon and serving counter. The clam shell design of the cockpit area allows for a congenial environment for entertaining.

From an accommodation perspective she has a head in both forepeak's and a double cabin in both bows with two single berth's starboard midships. The aft "cabin" is used for storage but could be converted into another double cabin.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

wildcat yacht

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

wildcat yacht

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

wildcat yacht

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

wildcat yacht

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

wildcat yacht

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

wildcat yacht

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

wildcat yacht

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

<< Previous page

Pages:  379-406

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

Keywords: Tuva, Early Iron Age, early Scythian period, Aldy-Bel culture, barrow, burial in the coffin, mummy, full genome sequencing, aDNA
