Boat Throttle Control and Marine Propulsion Manufactured by Kobelt

Push-pull controls.

The mechanical push-pull control system is a very simple and easily installed system for smaller boats. The equipment controlled by a system of this type must be relatively easy to operate. Kobelt provides a variety of hydraulic-actuated power assist units for use on clutch and throttle applications requiring additional mechanical force (Part No. 4602, 4605). We generally do not recommend the installation of more than two stations with push-pull cables. If the cable runs are relatively short and straight, it is possible to make a three-station system work. For a multi-station, single lever control system, a combination of wire-over-pulley and push-pull with our model 2051 master control works extremely well (for up to four stations). The Kobelt single lever control heads 2042, 2043, 2044, 2046, 2047, 2048, 2050 and 2054 are designed to work as a one-station control only. The 2080 series and the 2090 series are designed for 2 stations. These controls provide single lever control for clutch and throttle from two stations and are available in single and twin engine configurations. This push-pull system (Patent No. CDN. 1206642, 1158136; US 4512451, 4280371, Further Patent Pending) has proven to be a tremendous success due to its exceptional performance and durability. >> Read More About Push-Pull Controls

Dometic SeaStar is the new name for both Teleflex Marine and Morse Controls. Many older controls, cables or fittings may be badged with either Morse or Teleflex.

The Seastar Teleflex Single Lever 700SS Side Mount Control is a dual action side mounting engine control, designed for sailboats, combining both the throttle and gear into one control.

This control is commonly known as the side mount sailboat control as it has a smooth gear knob to reduce sheet fouling. However, it is suitable for use on most boats for controlling inboard engines, sterndrives and outboards with standard 33C type cables .

The throttle and gear control features a heavy duty black polyester powder coated gear lever with a red neutral "warm up" button for throttle only operation.

• Page 5 Installation of cables The minimum control cable bend radius is 200 mm. Sharper bends will increase cable wear rapidly. Throttle cable As the throttle cable moves back and forth during opera- tion, it must not be clamped too close to the mechanism as this would prevent its motion.
• Page 6 • Secure the mechanism with the 4 selftapping screws supplied (Fig. 16) and remove the lever. Controls without attachment plate: • Fit the cover. Make sure the tabs snap properly into lugs (B fig. 16). Controls with attachment plate: • Push the 2 cover halves sideways to meet at the lever shaft.
• Page 7 Accessories Neutral safety switch •The engine control can be equipped with a neutral safety switch to prevent accidental starting with gear engaged. NB The switch (A fig. 20) must be mounted with the electrical plugs (B fig. 20) turned away from the gear cable.
