Featuring a high-performance hull with a long waterline and a reverse bow, this example is equipped with two 250 kW electric motors that enable a maximum speed of 14 knots and a cruising speed of between six and eight knots. According to Silent, the cat will be able to cruise solely on solar power for up to 100 nautical miles a day for weeks on end. It also has a draft of roughly three feet and thus can access shallow waters.
Onboard, the yacht offers a light, airy main salon, a generous aft cockpit, a cozy bow area and a spacious flybridge. On the lower deck, you’ll find three comfy guest cabins and a luxe owner’s suite in the bow. To top it off, there are two swimming platforms in the stern that can carry a pair of electric Jet Skis, plus a hydraulic platform that can store a 13-foot tender.
Silent says the Italian shipyard will launch several more Silent 60 yachts in 2023, including the first tri-deck Silent 62. In addition, the Fano yard will start manufacturing the new Silent Tender series this month.
“We are happy that our Italian shipyard performs really well,” Silent’s CEO and founder Michael Köhler said in a statement. “It was the right decision to purchase and develop it in a way that is in line with our corporate long-term strategy.”

Silent Yachts becomes sole owner of Italian new-build shipyard
The new-build facility is located in fano on italy’s adriatic coast….
Silent Yachts have taken over a new production site in Fano, Italy in order to reduce the delivery times of their Silent 60 and 80 series. This move is an important milestone in the company's evolution as they look to break into the 30m-plus segment with the fully electric Silent Explorer 120. The new shipyard will employ approximately 250 people and the all-new electric ‘Silent tenders’ will also be produced on-site.
Silent Yachts have been a major component of the burgeoning catamaran sector in recent years, and this new production site drastically improves their required capacity for their yacht building capabilities. Following the news that the brand has been restructured as ‘Silent-Group’, the privately owned Austrian company stated in a press release that they were ‘proud’ to announce that they are now the sole shareholder of the new Italian production site.
The new-build facility is situated in Italy’s Adriatic coast and comprises several modern, well-equipped hangars for the building and outfitting of the Silent 60 series and Silent 80 series models. The site includes five construction sheds with 22,000 m2 of covered space and a similar exterior surface area. The site will also include an Innovation Centre for researching and developing new models, technologies and solutions.
"Our acquisition of the facility in Fano is a great opportunity for the city and for the nautical sector in the area,” says Michael Köhler, CEO of Silent Yachts. “In 2022 we will employ approximately 250 people, both directly and indirectly, and we have expansion plans already under discussion to increase the production capacity of our sites and acquire new ones. We are open to discuss with the municipal and state authorities about future operations and to offer our contribution to the city and the many small businesses in the area that makes this area a point of reference for Italian boatbuilding."
The shipyard is ideally placed to take on a well-established network of local subcontractors and key suppliers, the strategic acquisition means the facility is able to guarantee the highest level of design and engineering, interior outfitting and Italian craftsmanship. It also ensures a stable future in a major boatbuilding hub for Silent Yachts as they look to cement their role as the leaders in the production of fully electric solar-powered catamarans from 60 to 120 feet.

Silent-Yachts launches first 19m yacht with three decks
Austrian builder Silent-Yachts has launched the first Silent 62 3-Deck at its facility in Fano, Italy. The 18.8-metre will be handed over to her owners in the next few weeks.
Based on the Silent 60, the electric catamaran offers an additional third deck instead of the previous model's flybridge.
The third deck is available in three different versions: an open skylounge, a closed skylounge and a closed owner's cabin variation. This first model has an additional open deck instead of the flybridge, offering an "outdoor community space" equipped with dining facilities and panoramic views.
Accommodation is across six cabins. All versions of the new model benefit from a "front exit" on the main deck, which allows guests to step directly onto the foredeck from the main saloon.
The yacht also has a "new, ultra-efficient" drivetrain that offers greater capacity and faster charging rates. This same setup was seen on the two Silent 62 catamarans, which were launched at the end of 2023.
"The launch of our first Silent 62 3-Deck is a proud moment as we continue to innovate and expand the Silent range," said CEO Fabrizio Iarrera."It is also proof positive that the brand continues to operate normally and is focused on delivering to clients."
Equipped with a solar array, twin electric motors, a lithium-ion battery pack and a range extender, the Silent 62 3-Deck has a cruising speed of 6 to 8 knots and a transoceanic range. She has a daily energy generation of approximately 100kWh.
Silent-Yachts currently has a 36.7-metre explorer yacht under construction, with delivery scheduled for this year.

Silent-Yachts becomes sole owner of Italian new-build shipyard
The growth of Silent-Yachts in recent years has resulted in the need for additional resources. Following the news that the brand has been restructured as Silent Group, the privately Austrian-owned company is very proud to announce that it is now the sole shareholder of its Italian production site.
The shipyard has acquired a new-build facility in Fano on Italy’s Adriatic coast comprising several modern, well-equipped hangars for the building and outfitting of the Silent 60 series and Silent 80 series models. Five construction sheds with 22,000 m2 of covered space and a similar exterior surface area.

“Our acquisition of the facility in Fano is a great opportunity for the city and for the nautical sector in the area,” says Michael Köhler, CEO of SILENT-YACHTS . “In 2022 we will employ approximately 250 people, both directly and indirectly, and we have expansion plans already under discussion to increase the production capacity of our sites and acquire new ones. Headlining the news is the announcement that Austrian-owned Silent-Yachts has been restructured as Silent Group comprising several distinct divisions.
Silent-Yachts: Offering fully electric, solar-powered catamarans from 60-120 feet for noiseless, zero-emission cruising. In addition, from now on a new sub-division will also build hybrid yachts that make use of both conventional propulsion and renewable solar energy. The first hybrid yacht is an 82-foot model to be built in partnership with VisionF Yachts.
Through the cooperation with VisionF, Silent-Yachts aims to support the Turkey based shipyard towards making their catamarans more sustainable. The extended hardtop flybridge of the so-called Silent VisionF 82 is fitted with a large solar array and a powerfull battery bank in order to provide sufficient energy to power all household and comfort appliances on board. As a result, guests will be able to enjoy the noiseless Silent experience without compromises when anchoring in a bay or docked in a marina. The alliance showcases the willingness of Silent-Yachts to assist other manufacturers to reduce their vessels dependency on fossil fuels by incorporating the proven solar technology of the Austrian pioneer.
Silent-Tenders: Offering a new range of electric Silent tenders, starting with a model of 4 metres in length. Further models will be announced during 2022.
Silent-Management: Offering the full spectrum of management services for Silent clients, from documentation, flag registration, certification and inspections to crew hiring, charter and yacht management, maintenance and servicing.
Silent-Charter: Offering Silent yachts for charter from the fleet base in Port Adriano, Mallorca and around the world.
Silent-Brokerage: Offering brokerage services for pre-owned vessels for sale by Silent and its clients.
Silent-Resorts: Stunning zero-carbon, ultra-sustainable resorts with luxurious beachfront solar-powered residences.
Silent-Shop: A web-based outlet for electric water toys, smart electric gadgets as well as Silent merchandising products.
New production sites The Silent Group can draw on three production facilities around the world. Its shipyard on Italy’s Adriatic coast has five construction sheds with 22,000 m² of covered space and about the same area outside for building the Silent 60 series & and the Silent 80 series.
The Swiss-owned and managed PMG Shipyard in Thailand builds the Silent 60 series. The yard has a 20,800-m² facility in Rayong with dedicated areas for each stage of the production process.
A new partnership with Coşkun Bayraktar in Turkey, founder of the Viaport Group has opened up more production opportunities. Bayraktar, who also owns VisionF Yachts in Istanbul, has invested considerable manpower in recent months to start up production of the Silent 60 series, Silent 80 series, SILENT 100 series as well as the new Silent VisionF 82. Boats of each series are already being built in Turkey. Including the Tuzla Viaport Marina, the copperation with VisionF Yachting provides access to more than 100,000 m² of production area.
Record sales in 2021 – the current order book 2021 was a record-breaking year for the brand with 21 yachts sold. There are 17 yachts currently in build at different stages of production, among them eight Silent 60 series, six Silent 80 series, two Silent VisionF 82 and the first Silent 120 (ex-Silent 100).
Upcoming new launch The next unit to be launched will be a Silent 60 - Front Exit version. The solar electric catamaran will touch the water this month February 2022 and will head straight to the US where the owner is waiting. Another Silent 60 Front Exit will be launched by April and will be followed by more yachts later this year.
“I’m immensely proud of what Silent-Yacht has achieved over the years,” says Silent-Yachts founder and CEO Michael Köhler. “After beginning our research into solar yacht technologies in 2004, the company has evolved and expanded and last year’s sales show that we continue to grow. We are now a truly international Group with diverse interests requiring more extensive resources and production space. This enables us to collaborate with other shipyards such as VisionF to assist them in harnessing solar technology as a step towards a more sustainable future.”

Silent-Yachts launches first 62 3-Deck
- April 10, 2024
The Austrian-owned solar-electric catamaran builder has launched the first Silent 62 3-Deck at its facility in Italy.
Silent-Yachts has launched the first Silent 62 3-Deck solar-electric catamaran at its facility in Fano, Italy. The Austrian-owned company has produced multiple units of the Silent 60 and slightly extended 62, but the 62 3-Deck is the first version with a full flybridge.
The top deck can be ordered as an open sky lounge – as seen on the first unit – a closed sky lounge or closed owner’s suite. The model’s other options include a forward saloon door to the foredeck, which has been included on the latest launch.
Fabrizio Iarrera, CEO of Silent-Yachts, said: “The launch of our first Silent 62 3-Deck is a proud moment as we continue to innovate and expand the Silent range. It’s also positive proof that the brand continues to operate normally and is focused on delivering boats to clients.”
The first Silent 62 3-Deck’s open flybridge offers full dining facilities, while the interior includes five-plus-one cabins for up to 12 overnight guests, as well as six bathrooms.
The Silent 62 3-Deck shares the same ultra-efficient drivetrain as the two Silent 62 catamarans launched at the end of last year. This next-generation drivetrain implements a 286kWh, liquid-cooled Lithium-ion battery pack with higher energy density, greater capacity and faster charging rates, due to optimised thermal management.
The CE A yacht is also equipped with 16.8kWp of solar panels, twin 180kW E-motors and a range extender, offering a cruising speed of six-eight knots and transoceanic range. Silent-Yachts plans to deliver the first Silent 62 3-Deck to its owners in a few weeks.

Silent-Yachts: new ownership, new 3-deck solar catamaran
Solar electric catamaran pioneer Silent-Yachts is launching a new model, the Silent 62 3-Deck, the first under a new ownership team led by American-German investor Michael Said, a Silent-Yachts client himself.
Majority owner Said acquired the assets of Silent-Yachts, including the intellectual property and the shipyard Silent Italia in Fano, through his acquisition vehicle Helios Yacht Investments GmbH.
Silent-Yachts 62 3-Deck a proud moment
The company, founded in 2009, has recently been under financial pressures. Said’s intervention ensures that funding is available to preserve 140 jobs and continue progress on existing orders for the Silent 62 and others.
New Chief Executive Officer Fabrizio Iarrera said “The launch of our first Silent 62 3-Deck is a proud moment as we continue to innovate and expand the Silent range. It is also proof positive that the brand continues to operate normally and is focused on delivering boats to clients.”
The Silent 62 3-Deck brings together the best of the company’s bestselling Silent 60 with the superyacht flair of the top-of-the-range Silent 80 3-Deck. It is 2 feet (0.60m) longer than the 60 and replaces the usual flybridge with the third deck.
The deck is available in three different versions: an open sky lounge, a closed sky lounge, and a closed owner’s suite variation. All versions are available with a “front exit” on the main deck, which allows guests to directly step onto the foredeck from the main saloon.
With 5+1 guest cabins and 6 bathrooms the yacht can sleep up to 12 guests in quiet comfort.
Read the Plugboats sea trial of the Silent 60
The Silent 62 3-Deck has the same drivetrain as the two flybridge Silent 62 catamarans launched at the end of last year: twin 180 kW continuous / 340 kW peak electric motors (245 hp /460 hp peak ) powered by 286 kiloWatt hour (kWh) lithium-ion battery packs.
It implements the latest liquid cooled batteries, with higher energy density, greater capacity and optimized thermal management that enables faster charging rates.
Classified as CE ‘A’ with Trans Ocean range, the luxury cat has a 16.8 kWp (kiloWatt hour peak) solar array that can generate approximately 100 kWh per day and a 100 kWh fossil fuel generator that can be used to extend range when necessary on long journeys.
Seven yachts scheduled for completion
The new ownership and management team, supported by a board of shareholders and vice chairman Steve Bell, have seven Silent 62 3-Decks scheduled for completion this year. There are also plans to develop a new facility at the Fano yard that can accommodate the wider beam of the Silent 80.
Silent-Yachts founder Michael Köhler will keep a 10 per cent stake in the firm and is set to take on the role of brand ambassador. He and his wife Heike started to develop the Silent-Yachts concept in 2004 and spent five years sailing, testing and researching to develop the revolutionary idea of a solar-powered ocean-going yacht.
“Michael has 20 years of experience in developing solar-electric yacht technology and the management team is pleased to have his experience available to them,” CEO Iarrera told SuperyachtNews . “Now, the growth strategy is to streamline manufacturing and organizational processes in our Fano shipyard to make us more efficient and allow us to increase production as our demand increases.”
As creator of the world’s first series produced, solar-powered electric yachts, Silent-Yachts has sold more than 50 solar catamarans around the world. The Silent 60 was the winner of the 2021 Gustave Trouvé Electric Boat Awards in the Over 8m / 26 ft category and the Silent 120 Explorer won in 2022 in the Concept/In Development category.
A seasoned and well-known figure in the Italian yachting sector, Ferrara is excited about the company’s future. “Silent-Yachts is known for its innovative technology in electric catamarans,” he said “and continues to be committed to pushing boundaries in the industry.”

The award-winning entry to solar-electric yachts
As the successor to the Silent 64 (the first ever solar powered production yacht to cross the Atlantic Ocean during January of 2018), the 60 Series is equipped with the most refined, efficient and clever technology available today. Being a multi-award winner, including the prestigious “Best of Boats Award” in the category of ‘Best for Travel’, she embodies solar electric yachting in its purest form. Available in a variety of deck and cabin options, the Silent 60 is ideally suited for families cruising with or without additional crew.
Specifications
Deck options, silent 62 flybridge.
The flybridge version with a retractable roof offers enough space for a dining area with a small lounge and a dedicated helm station. For owners who do not need the additional space of the 62 3-deck configurations, the flybridge version offers enough space and outstanding 360° visibility.
Silent 62 3-Deck Open
An additional open deck instead of the flybridge combines the benefits of larger catamarans with the compact dimensions of the 60 Series. The open sky lounge is a fantastic outdoor community space, equipped with a full dining area including a panoramic view and a superyacht atmosphere.
Silent 62 3-Deck Closed
The closed version of the 62 3-Deck further develops her character as a compact superyacht. Providing additional indoor space, the closed third deck is available in two options: a choice between a sky lounge or an exclusive owner’s deck makes sure it can be tailored towards individual needs.

Solar-electric yachting advantages
Unlimited range, noiseless cruising, zero emission, minimal maintenance, powertrains, 6o series highlights.
Kite sail system
Adding the option of a fully automatic towing kite gives the 60 Series the opportunity to make use of the wind without shading the panels. The either 9m² or 12 m² sized kite flies at heights where winds are much stronger, thus being able to create up to 10x more pulling power compared to a conventional sail.
Self-sufficient lifestyle
Designed from the ground up to be fully autonomous. By being able to produce your own energy and water while making use of coolable food supplies for storage as well as a worldwide internet connection, you have the possibility of creating a fully self-sufficient lifestyle on board.
Bridgedeck storage
Under the bridge deck, there are two spacious storage boxes for SUPs, surfboards, small RIBs or compact sailboats. Both of them can be accessed either from the aft cockpit deck or directly from the hydraulic tender lift.
Owner's suite
Being able to design the 60 Series with an exclusive owner’s suite on the 3rd deck is unique amongst 60-foot catamarans. The suite itself is fully equipped with an en-suite bathroom and measures 23 m² in size. It also gives direct access to the 36 m² lounge area in the aft.

Innovative shipyard Silent-Yachts has launched its first Silent 62 3-Deck solar electric catamaran at its facility in Fano, Italy.
Based on the bestselling Silent 60 but increasing the overall length of the hull by two feet (0.60m), the Silent 62 3-Deck offers an additional third deck instead of the regular flybridge. The result is a thrilling combination of the superyacht flair of the top-of-the-range Silent 80 3-Deck and the compact dimensions of the Silent 60. The best of both worlds, in other words.
Moreover, the third deck is available in three different versions: an open sky lounge, a closed sky lounge, as well as a closed owner’s suite variation. All versions are available with a “front exit” on the main deck, which allows guests to directly step onto the foredeck from the main saloon.
“The launch of our first Silent 62 3-Deck is a proud moment as we continue to innovate and expand the Silent range,” says Chief Executive Officer Fabrizio Iarrera. “It is also proof positive that the brand continues to operate normally and is focused on delivering boats to clients.”

With 5+1 guest cabins and 6 bathrooms the yacht can sleep up to 12 guests in quiet comfort.
