Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina Previewed During Saudi Arabia F1 Grand Prix Weekend

The new Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina hosted over 40 superyachts and smaller vessels during the inaugural Saudi Arabian F1 Grand Prix this weekend, giving yacht owners and their guests an amazing experience of the F1 action on the Jeddah Corniche Street Circuit. Guests aboard mega yachts including the 95-meter M/Y O Pari,   built by Golden Yachts, the 85-meter Oceanco Sunrays  and the 82-meter Abeking & Rasmussen RoMEA, revealed in an adrenalin-fueled and action-packed F1 weekend, a first for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina guests witnessed at close quarters the 50-lap dogfight between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in a race full of incident and action.  In his post-race interview Hamilton thanked the people of Jeddah for being so welcoming and said it was a privilege to be racing in their home city. Oliver Rees, General Manager of Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina (from January 2022) said: “What a weekend we have had and what a fitting preview for this fantastic facility.  It is clear from this F1 weekend that the Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina will be a perfect home port for private yachts, but also a great place to meet, enjoy sailing and water sports and revel in the quality of services we have on offer. It is a natural gateway to cruising amongst the wonders of the Red Sea, and we are confident that it will rapidly become a prime waypoint on the global yachting map.” Mohideen Nazer, Director, Parks & Resorts at SELA said: “We’re delighted that the world of yachting now has  its first home address on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast.  This weekend has been a fitting preview of what’s to come.  We have developed a beautiful yacht club and marina and the people of Jeddah have shown their welcoming hospitality.  We have seen this weekend that Jeddah is an amazing place for yachts to visit”. The Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina is the first marina along the Red Sea coast that can accommodate superyachts and mega yachts up to 120metres and will officially open in early 2022 in time for the return of the F1 Grand Prix to Jeddah on 25th-27th March, 2022. The Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina was built in record time by local Saudi Arabia Events and Resorts business, Sela – an incredible six months from first breaking ground, on an inland site, to opening for the berthing of some of the biggest yachts in the world. The stunning complex is situated in the northern part of Jeddah, only a few kilometres away from the new King Abdulaziz airport and the city centre. It comprises the state-of-the-art Marina, the luxurious Jeddah Yacht Club and a selection of world-renowned retail and entertainment venues. A WORLD CLASS MARINA: The Jeddah Yacht Club Marina epitomizes the future of super yachting on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coastline with berths for over 100 yachts of all sizes up to 120m. It is the first step of a series of major yachting developments that will take place in the Kingdom over the next 10 years, stretching from Neom in the North to Amaala and the Red Sea Project further south down to Jeddah and beyond. The Jeddah Yacht Club Marina is recognized by the Saudi authorities as a port of entry into the Kingdom. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is fast developing its coastal and maritime assets, building 200km of new destinations such as Neom, Amaala and the Red Sea Project on the edge of the exquisitely beautiful, pristine waters of the Red Sea.

Jeddah Yacht Club and Marina is at the epicentre of this nautical paradise, providing a platform for the leisure marine industry to prosper, for local citizens and regional visitors to discover a whole new on-water lifestyle, and drive an increase in consumer spending.

In November each year, when many of the global fleet of superyachts are making their way to the East Indian Ocean via the Red Sea for their winter cruising for the first time, we will stage a week-long Jeddah Yacht Show (JYS) in  the JYC Marina. 

To celebrate the opening of the Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina, we invite you to participate in a special preview edition of the upcoming international show from 11th – 16th May 2022 as part of this year’s fantastic Jeddah Seasons.

Introduction

The Jeddah Yacht Show (JYS) Preview is a 6-day luxury extravaganza featuring superyachts, sailing boats, motor launches, water toys, watersports, supercars, classic cars, wellness experiences, high- end fashion and much more. Some of the world’s premier yachting and lifestyle brands will be on display for inspection, sea trials and purchasing over 6 days during the Jeddah Seasons.

The full international Jeddah Yacht Show in November will be the first event of its kind in Saudi Arabia, showcasing every facet of nautical tourism and the on-water lifestyle.

The Jeddah Yacht Show is an opportunity for Saudi residents, visitors and marine enthusiasts to explore the yachting and sailing lifestyle in a fun and luxurious setting. Below deck: 8 charter guests with the worst attitudes.

Some charter guests have made outrageous demands from the Below Deck crew while on the yacht. One of the guests has even taken their tips back.

• Only a few charter guests on Below Deck have been nice, like Justin Guarini from season.
• Delores, Timothy Sykes, Barrie & Tony have been terrible guests ruining crew morale.
• Erica Rose and Charley Walters were labeled as the worst guests due to their high-maintenance behavior.

Hundreds of charter guests have appeared on the Below Deck franchise over the last 11 years, but only a few have been nice. The famous Bravo series first premiered in 2013 and gave fans a more intimate look at the lives of the yacht crew and their encounters with the charter guests. Laura Desiree from Below Deck Down Under season 2 has been among the newest and most memorable guests. She was extremely inappropriate throughout her stay on Captain Jason Chambers’ yacht, making wild demands such as asking Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph to cover her in chocolate.

Justin Guarini from Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 was also very memorable. The American Idol season 1 runner-up surprised viewers by boarding Captain Glenn Shephard’s yacht a few months ago. He immediately left a mark on fans by being one of the nicer charter guests. In one instance, Justin complimented Chef Ileisha Dell by claiming her cuisine was out of the world. Despite some great charter guests, there have been more than a few with terrible attitudes.

8 alexis bellino, below deck season 7.

Since 2013, numerous rude guests have appeared on Below Deck . Alexis Bellino appeared as a guest on the original series who angered the crew with her excessive PDA. The Real Housewives of Orange County alumni appeared in Below Deck with her boyfriend at the time, Andy Bohn. Immediately, she creeped fans out with her PDA and made Kate Chastain and Courtney Skippon roll their eyes. Later, Alexis took to X and called out the crew members. She wrote,

“pot calling the kettle black,”

taking a shot at Kate and Courtney’s boatmances with Tanner Sterback and Brian de Saint Pern.

Below Deck Season 8

Delores from Below Deck season 8 was extremely inappropriate and a terrible guest overall. In episode 11, she gets so drunk and later tries to have a late-night swim. She made the entire crew scared for her well-being by attempting to swim in the ocean at night. Even when Captain Lee Rosbach warned her, Delores jumped into the sea and broke safety rules. As expected, the Captain had to send her home the next day. During her final scene, she again jumped off the mini-boat to shore , proving she hadn’t learned anything.

6 Justin Richards

Below deck season 9.

When Justin Richards appeared on Below Deck season 9, it looked like he wouldn’t be too much trouble. However, the charter guest proved everyone wrong by creating a big scene. In one of the episodes, Justin got very drunk before dinner alongside primary charter guests Michael Durham and Terri Foss. He then argued with them and got so angry he chose to leave the table. Justin then ate his dinner on the swim platform, creating unnecessary drama . At one point, Justin even threatened to throw someone overboard, which was out of the line.

5 Timothy Sykes

Below deck season 2.

Like Delores, Timothy Sykes was one of Below Deck 's most disrespectful charter guests. Timothy complained about small things like the internet and reduced the crew’s tips in front of Captain Lee because of minor food complaints. While replying to a fan, Captain Lee shared his first-hand experience of Timothy and why he was a terrible charter guest. He said (via Cheatsheet ), “Timothy Sykes took back some of the tips, 5K after he had already handed it to me and said he was taking some back because his 19-year-old girlfriend didn’t like her dinner after he ordered it for her.”

4 barrie & tony, below deck sailing yacht season 2.

Barrie and Tony Drewitt-Barlow were charter guests on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2. They boarded Captain Glenn’s yacht to take their family on a luxury holiday through Croatia. Unfortunately, they were on their worst behavior throughout their time on the boat, leading to petty drama and cringe-worthy moments. The first thing viewers disliked the most about Barrie was his mean attitude . Tony was just as bad as his former partner, with his high maintenance and lack of self-awareness.

3 Erica Rose

Below deck sailing yacht seasons 2 & 3.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht guest Erica Rose was the worst charter guest ever after her appearance. One reason why fans felt Erica was the worst was her high-maintenance behavior. The attorney was constantly throwing orders, using the Stews as her maids, and being inappropriate overall. Crew members like Daisy Kelliher felt demeaned by Erica’s demands and rude behavior. She told the cameras, “These people are disrespectful,” adding that they are unpredictable and scary. Erica had an issue with everyone from the Chef to the stews until the end.

2 Charley Walters

Charley Walters was on Below Deck season 8, episode 14. He was a returning guest, having made other appearances on the Bravo show before. One of the worst demands from Charley was an inclination toward embarrassing male crew members. At one time, he made them wear short speedos and served them dinner and drinks. He also made outrageous demands from the Chef, making others suffer for his enjoyment.

While Charley later said producers told him to act badly for the drama, it doesn’t change the fact that he did it without remorse.

1 Dean Slover

The self-proclaimed food-lover and traveler, Dean Slover, was a difficult charter guest . Despite his past difficult life, Dean didn’t make it easy for fans to like him. When he debuted on the show, he made an extensive preference sheet on the spot, pushing the crew to run around trying to fulfill his demands. He also showed a bossy attitude toward others, thinking he was the biggest deal on Captain’s yacht. From demanding rocket ship-shaped towels to requesting meals at precise times , Dean did ruin the entire Below Deck crew’s mood, be it the Stews or the Chef.

More than a dozen injured after tour boat and charter boat crash in Miami waters, officials

Two boats collided in the waters near Miami Sunday afternoon, sending 13 people to the hospital, according to officials.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded with more than 30 units to the waters near Fisherman's Channel after receiving reports of the boat collision at 3:15 p.m., spokesperson Andrea Rudchenco said Monday in an emailed statement to USA TODAY.

More than 20 people were involved in the crash, 13 of whom were transported to the hospital, and the others were evaluated and released on the scene, Rudchenco said. Due to the number of people, City of Miami Fire Rescue, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard also responded to the scene, she said.

Boats involved ordered to stay in port, one to be released upon inspection

The U.S. Coast Guard 7th District - Southeast office named one of the boats as a Thriller tourist attraction boat and the other as the Obelix.

While the Coast Guard did not have a determination on who was at fault in the crash, they said they were investigating the incident along with the FWC. The FWC said it did not immediately have a report in its involvement.

The Coast Guard said that the Thriller boat will be required to undergo an inspection before returning to its operations. The Obelix is under a captain of the port order and deemed inoperable until it meets the stipulations in the order, the Coast Guard said.

Thriller Speedboat Tour and Midnight Sun Boat Charters, the company that lists a private boat named the Obelix on its website, did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment Monday.
